Why Should Marijuana Be Legalized
Marco was sitting at a park smoking marijuana when the police quickly arrived. Someone who
lived in the neighborhood had called the police and reported a minor smoking marijuana at the
park. The police quickly arrested Marco and took him to jail for 3 months. The police were
asking questions about why Marco was smoking marijuana, knowing it was illegal. He responded
saying, marijuana helps him think and helps him clear his head. Marco was having a bad day and
decided he needed to collect his thoughts. This was not a typical day in the life of marco. He
never really smokes unless he is going through a rough time. People fail to realize that marijuana
is a plant that many people smoke to clear their head and forget about bad things that may have
happened that day. Marijuana should be legalized because many people use it as a stress reliever,
alcohol and tobacco cause more health problems than marijuana, and it is used for medical reasons.
so why shouldn't it be used for other reasons?...show more content...
There have been many cases where people have been arrested for marijuana. When police ask
why people smoke it they most likely say it reduces stress. Like the character Marco there was a
man who was caught smoking in the park. When the police asked questions he said it relieves
stress. People are under a lot of stress and sometimes need to collect their thoughts. There are many
cases where people have attempted suicide due to stress. In fact, studies show that "With a global
increase of medical marijuana use to treat health conditions, advocates and studies are showing that
medical marijuana can be used to treat anxiety disorders" (Ptasevich 1). Marijuana could be able to
reduce the amount of suicide attempts due to

Why Do Marijuana Need To Be Legalized
Marijuana needs to be legalized in every state. Everything besides severe drugs are legalized such
as: prescription medication and over the counter medicines that cause people to get addicted.
Even tobacco is legalized in every state in the United States. Marijuana is a drug that comes from
plants or herbs. It tends to send people to another level as in high. "Sends them to the moon" they
say! Marijuana needs to be legalized because people going to smoke it anyway. Some states have
approved "medical marijuana" to ease symptom of various health problems. People tend mix it in
food or inhale Marijuana using a vapor. Mostly, some people roll it up and smoke it like a cigar or
cigarette. Marijuana is also referred to as weed or cannabis. The

The "War on Drugs" has been fighting a tough opponent over the past few decades. Aimed at
cutting down on drug use and sales, this "war" has brought many negative side effects along with it.
Aside from limiting the freedoms of millions of Americans, The War on Drugs has caused many
more problems while also managing to fail at drug deterrence and distribution. Since many citizens
already back the legalization of marijuana, as demonstrated by Oakland's passing of Measure Z,
which makes marijuana related offenses the "lowest priority" to Oakland law enforcement officials
(Hill 2004), marijuana should be legalized.
First off, marijuana isn't even that bad of a drug. It is a plant ally and hasn't been proven to do any

Although the burning of marijuana creates some of the same harmful chemicals that you get when
you burn a cigarette, marijuana smokers do not smoke nearly as much marijuana as cigarette
smokers smoke tobacco, and there are many more toxic chemicals in cigarettes. The other legal
substance that causes much more harm than marijuana is alcohol. Alcohol can kill people from
poisoning, to drunk driving, to even walking off of cliffs. Alcohol also has the power to make people
act violently. This is something that marijuana users don't experience. If the government allows
people to use these substances, with some regulation of course, why can't marijuana become
legalized with similar regulations?
The criminalization of marijuana has been limiting the freedoms of Americans for decades.
Citizens have the right to make their own choices in life and in their daily activities. Smoking
marijuana is a way for many users to gain medical relief and to relax and unwind from a hard day
of work just like law abiding citizens like to do with a beer or a cigarette. Since it is illegal, users
must hide and do these activities in private. It has also put the drug under a very negative light for
uninformed Americans who just assume that marijuana is bad because it is illegal. If we look at an
example like the Netherlands, where marijuana for personal use has been legalized, we can see that
legalization would work and not cause a crazy

Essay about Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized
Marijuana's illegalization has always been erroneous. Early in the 1900s, a surge of Mexicans
immigrated to the U.S., and the marijuana they brought with them was quickly associated with them.
In the 1930s, tensions between white Americans and Mexican immigrants were heightened due to
the Great Depression, and the use of marijuana was ultimately prohibited for the general public in
1937 with the Marijuana Tax Act ("Marijuana Timeline"). By the 1960s, marijuana became a
symbol of counterculture, and the government stopped any research involved with its properties. In
1971, President Richard Nixon began the "War on Drugs," and marijuana was dragged into it. Nixon
assigned a commission to review the danger marijuana possesses, and the...show more content...
Studies by the British Medical Association and World Health Organization have concluded that
medical marijuana could be used to treat symptoms of certain diseases (Koch). Due to the extensive
testing that these two organizations did and the fact that they are very reputable, there is enough
evidence that medical marijuana should be used to help patients. Since marijuana is readily
available, and there is research to confirm its medical uses, there is no reason not to use it.
Opponents of the use of medical marijuana argue that it could have unintended societal
consequences. Robert L. DuPont of the National Institute on Drug Abuse argues that teen attitudes to
marijuana are linked to medical marijuana laws, and that medical marijuana would "normalize drug
use" ("Teen Drug Use"). This is not true. The Institute of Medicine was asked to conduct a study on
medical marijuana by the White House. The IOM concluded that, among other things, the use of
medical marijuana would not increase recreational usage rates of marijuana (Koch). Since this
organization is clearly reputable, there is enough evidence that the legalization medical marijuana
wouldn't affect the general population's use of marijuana in any way. Since DuPont also didn't
provide any evidence for his claim, it can be dismissed. Due to the evidence provided, it is clear that
marijuana has positive health benefits. In addition, marijuana should be legalized because its

Why We Should Legalize Marijuana
Marijuana has been used in our world for over 2,000 years by a wide variety of cultures. The first
country to utilize the effects of this plant were the people in china, because the emperor said it
made him feel better. Today people in our society still use this plant for a variety of reasons,
ranging from medical use to just having fun using it. In this essay I'm going to explain to you why
legalizing marijuana will benefit and improve our society entirely.
The first reason and probably the most important one is health benefits. Like I said earlier the
medical use of cannabis has been used for thousands of years and many different cultures have even
stated that the "magic plant" takes away their pain and gives them powers. Although it doesn't...show

In the US thousands of people are jailed for having possession of marijuana and who pays for the
inmates to be in jail we do and if its legalized then those thousands of people wouldn't be in jail and
will save millions of hard earned tax payer dollars. With the extra money the states are earning then
they'll be able to put the money to better use like roads, and better public facilities. Even though the
unemployment ratehas been dropping in recent years marijuana will create thousands of jobs and
dispensaries and things like that. With all the new jobs coming in the number will drop even more.
The war on drugs has been going on in our country for decades and I think I can find a way to
improve it. By legalizing marijuana all of the Mexican cartel members wouldn't have any reason to
sell it because there wouldn't be any profit in it. With that in place it would give us less time in
searching for marijuana and more time for searching for much harder drugs such as cocaine.
All in all, this shouldn't even be a debate in my opinion alcohol is 10 times as bad as marijuana
and its legal. So why is it illegal? I hope that these points have made you believe that this "drug:"
should be legal, and judging by the way it's being used more and more it should be legalized in all
50 states within 10 years. So, join me in fighting for its legalization because the benefits of this plant

Imagine a world where marijuana became legalized. Most believe that legalizing marijuana would

reliable sources. From a philosophical point of view, individuals deserve the right to make choices
for themselves. Marijuana has been tested and proven to provide a very positive impact on the
American society for many reasons. Some of these reasons are for America's economy, health and
even crime. The debate to legalize marijuana in the United States of America has been fought over
nonstop since the existence of the drug and its effects. Marijuana should become legal in the state of

People need to open their eyes and stop being ignorant about the fact that marijuana being legal
would help the United States in their need of help. Our police have devoted thousands of hours to
arresting ,booking and imprisoning marijuana smokers , many of whom are otherwise law–abiding.
Unfortunate of these arrests have spent over a decade in prison, for nothing more than possession of
cannabis for personal use. These arrests being made take officers away from more urgent
issues,(Source C). All the suspects of marijuana possession all end up in court and again without it
you have freed up the courts where it can trial other suspects. Again people against marijuana
legalization will say court resources will drop due to crime rates rising is completely false and has
no evidence to even support that.
Opponents of making marijuana legal would like society to believe that marijuana shouldn't be

University studies have founded that marijuana users have abnormal brain structure and poor
memory and that chronic marijuana abuse may lead to brain changes resemble into being diagnosed

Reasons Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized
Why marijuana should be legalized
Marijuana should be legalized for many different reasons. One reason is that legal drugs such as
tobacco and alcohol are far more dangerous in comparison to cannabis. A second reason explains
how prohibition is an utter failure and the war on drugs has done more harm to our country than
good. A third reason explains how having marijuana illegal in the United States makes billions for
Mexico's drug cartels and other underground criminal organizations that grow the marijuana.
Marijuana also has hundreds of medical benefits that date back to 2700 BC. Lastly, the United
States spends so much of our tax dollars on keeping marijuana illegal when the country could gain
trillions if it were legalized, taxed, and regulated.
Marijuana should be legal because prohibition doesn't help the country in any way, plus, it causes
a lot of problems. There is no scientific evidence that suggests prohibition decreases drug use, but
there are several theories that suggest prohibition might actually increase drug use. One effect of
marijuana prohibition is that it makes the drug available to minors. Marijuana dealers usually
don't care how old a buyer is, as long as they have the money. It is actually easier for high school
students to obtain marijuana than it is alcohol; this is because alcohol is legal and therefore
regulated to keep it away from teenagers. If marijuana were legal to people above the age of
twenty–one like alcohol, then it would be harder for teenagers to obtain it. Prohibition is not
working and I believe that education and treatment are better ways to address the drug problem.
The two most deadly drugs in America are legal. Marijuana should be legalized because it is safer
than alcohol and tobacco both. Marijuana is not a dangerous drug and has never killed anybody.
Alcohol and tobacco accumulate over 675,000 American deaths each year. Over the counter drugs
and aspirin kill over 35,000 Americans each year. Alcohol and cigarettes are highly addictive and
can cause an endless amount of health problems. Alcohol alone can cause gastritis, pancreatitis,
ulcers, liver cancer, cirrhosis, and other liver diseases. Tobacco contains at least nineteen different

Why Should Marijuana Be Legalized
Throughout the years, marijuana have been spreading through society and there is always a
constant debate whether it should be legalized or not. There's also questions should marijuana be
legalized how would they make it work. These are all questions that the society, and the
government keep a very close eye on. There is a big divided opinions and groups people believe in
this matter. Some people believe that marijuana should be legalized, others think it shouldn't and
some believe that it should be but with a modification on the usage. Marijuana should be legalized
throughout the entire country because there many other drugs that do harm or make a person do a
harmful thing and they are legalized. The first reason weed should be legalized

Debate on why Marijuana should be legalized
Marijuana is a public name for an illegal substance (drug) produced from the Cannabis (Cannabis
sativa) plant. It is also called weed, ganja, grass, kaya and pot. The drug has many chemical
compounds and in particular, it has THC (delta–9–tetrahydrocannabinol) which is responsible for
changing mind functions leading to alternations of cognition, mood, behavior, perception and
consciousness. "It is the most widely used illicit substance in the world" (World, 2010, p. 198). Its
usage includes religious, medicinal, recreational and spiritual purposes. In the beginning of the 20th
century, in most countries marijuana was illegalized.
In our society today, a big debate has emerged. People are...show more content...
If the drug use was legalized, there would be ways to regulate and control its accessibility and
usage among kids and the youth. A regulated, legal market in marijuana would reduce its sales and
use among the young individuals (Marijuana, 1999). Since it is not, many kids and teenagers can
easily access the drug and take it in. "Marijuana dealers usually do not care how old you are as long
as you have money" (Marijuana, 1999). Since our aim is to lessen the drug's consumption, we need
to have open programs to enlighten the youth about the drug, regulate its usage among kids and have
treatment and rehabilitation programs for individuals with Marijuana related problems.
The government has tried to use criminal penalties to prevent Marijuana use for over 75 years
(Marijuana, 1999). This has been done by trying "to chase peaceful people who happen to like to get
high" (Marijuana, 1999). Locking them in prison only worsens their situation. This is because they
can easily get the drug in prison and continue to consume it. These people need to be understood and
taken to treatment and rehabilitation centers.
According to Pi (2007), Marijuana was illegalized due to another reason. In 1930, the drug was
illegalized "in the United States for population control of Mexican and Black minorities" (Pi, 2007)
because legislators were "afraid that one day the minorities would overthrow the white government"
(Pi, 2007). Such a reason is irrelevant.

Why Marijuana Should Be Legalised Essay
Why Marijuana Should Be Legalised There is no denying that the drug problem in our country
today has reached epidemic proportions. The problem has gotten so out of hand that many options
are being considered to control and/or solve it. Ending the drug war may not seem to be the best
answer at first, but the so–called "war on drugs" has actually accomplished very little. Different
options need to be considered. Legalization is an option that hasn't gotten much of a chance, but
should be given one. It is my position that marijuana should be legalized. Although many people feel
that the legalization of marijuana would result in an increase in the amount of crime and drug abuse, I
contend that...show more content...
The legalization of marijuana would be a boom to the economy. During prohibition, alcohol was still
sold and used, but people were doing it illegally. The 21st amendment repealed prohibition, and
alcohol taxes were increased. The same thing should happen with pot. Marijuana could be
heavily taxed to increase our country's revenue. Moreover, major companies operating under
strict government regulations would legally produce marijuana, resulting in a higher quality
product free of poisons and other adulterants. Making marijuana legal would greatly reduce the
vast amount of money spent on drug law enforcement every year. Drug dealers and users seem to
constantly be one step ahead of the authorities, anyway. If one drug lord is caught, for instance,
another one turns up somewhere else to take his place. We cannot win. For example: "In 1990,
well over 10 billion dollars was spent on drug enforcement alone. Drugs accounted for more than
40 percent of all felony indictments in our nation's courts in 1992. This figure is quadruple what it
was in 1985. Forty percent of the people in federal prison are drug law violators". One can only
imagine what this figure would be like today. Too much money is wasted on a cause that there
seems to be no end to." In 1989, a Republican county executive of Mercer County, NJ estimated that
it would

Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized Willie Nelson once said, "I think people need to be
educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it

God is wrong?" Marijuana has been a plant for longer than any human has been alive.
Civilizations have used marijuana for hundreds of years for hundreds of purposes. But ever since
the 1970's when growing or having possession became illegal marijuana has been looked down
upon by a majority of people living in the United States. Just because it's illegal doesn't give

It also significantly reduces the ability for cancer to spread. Research shows that in cannabis,
cannabidiol helps stop the spread of breast cancer. This does the same this as chemotherapy, but
without the pain and unpleasant side effects. Marijuana can't cause any permanent mental illness.
Today marijuana is stronger than it was back in the 70s but it is not anymore dangerous. Less
than 1% of people who smoke marijuana become dependent on it, and it is very unlikely to
become addicted. Smoking tobacco is more harmful to your lungs than smoking marijuana. It only
takes a couple inhalations of marijuana smoke to become high. Let's say you're addicted to
cigarettes and smoke a pack a day, keeping in mind that cigarettes are legal. To get high off of
marijuana it would only take about a fourth of the tobacco you inhale in just one cigarette, just to
become high. When you smoke cigarettes you are continuously inhaling tar, nicotine, and many
other chemicals that harm your lungs and may result in lung cancer. Drinking alcohol is also much
more harmful for you than marijuana is, and it too is legal. Alcohol damages your internal organs
like your liver, kidneys, and circulatory system. Alcohol also has a much higher dependency than
does marijuana. Tens of thousands of people are dependent on alcohol everyday sometimes ruining
one's personal and family life. Alcohol also causes you to lose your inhibitions which could get

alcohol and tobacco yet somehow is still considered a schedule 1 drug along with other more
extreme drugs such as heroin. Marijuana is the leaves and shredded flowers of hemp plant called
Cannabis sativa which is usually a green or gray mixture. Marijuana can be not only smoked in the
form a joint, blunt, bowl, bong, etc but can also be eaten. Uses of marijuana can be medically or
recreationally and the use of it can be dated back to thousands of years ago in Asia when its effect

One area benefited from the legalization and its tax revenue is schools and education. Colorado
school districts were actually one of the first to see some profits from the new state funds. In May
of 2014 a funding project in Colorado known as BEST (Building Excellent Schools Today)
received more than $1.1 million, all from marijuana taxes. Not only can money be gained through
tax revenue if it was legalized but money that was previously spent because of marijuana
prohibition can now be saved. Every year our country spends $68 billion on prisoners with one–third
of them being imprisoned for nonviolent drug crimes (half of these being marijuana–related
charges). Therefore, legalizing marijuana would save $11.3 billion because it wouldn't be spent on
prisons. That money being spent on prisons is your tax dollars! Not only does keeping those in
prison with marijuana–related charges cost a lot but so does time and money of our police
enforcement when they have to charge someone simply having a joint in their home or with
friends. Imagine how much police officers could focus on other crimes if they didn't have to worry
about marijuana charges. Not only does the legalization have many medical benefits and tax revenue
but also benefits the society as whole by providing job opportunity and a decrease in unemployment
and crime. Many have always believed that with the legalization of marijuana would come with
higher crime rate but since Colorado

Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized
The first and most basic reason that marijuana should be legal is that there is no good reason for
it not to be legal. Some people ask "why should marijuana be legalized?" but we should ask "Why
should marijuana be illegal?" From a philosophical point of view, individuals deserve the right to
make choices for themselves. The government only has a right to limit those choices if the
individual's actions endanger someone else. This does not apply to marijuana, since the individual
who chooses to use marijuana does so according to his or her own free will. The government also
may have a right to limit individual actions if the actions pose a significant threat to the individual.
But this argument does not logically apply to marijuana...show more content...
These people deserve the freedom to practice their religion as they see fit, without the government
telling them what to do. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says that the government
cannot 'prohibit the free exercise' of religion, and so marijuana should be legal. Many people
believe that marijuana can be used as medicine to treat certain illnesses. Canada and several states
in the U.S. have passed laws in recent years to specifically allow sick people to use marijuana for
medicinal purposes. Still, the U.S. federal government considers marijuana a Schedule One
substance which has no medicinal value. We support the rights of sick people to help themselves
by using marijuana as medicine. In the long term, we believe that medicinal marijuana will be a
nonissue because marijuana will be legal for responsible adults to use regardless of illness. Many
agencies, which are anti marijuana, such as Drug Enforcement Agency and police departments,
argue that marijuana shouldn't be legalized. These agencies believe that marijuana shouldn't be
legalized because if marijuana is to become legal then it will become much easier for people who
do not need the drug to acquire it. Then people will raise the question why is marijuana illegal at
all if it's a medicine. The main reason why the Drug Enforcement Agency doesn't want marijuana to
be legal is because there is no hard core evidence that proves that marijuana is an

Abstract Marijuana can be used by the public for many purposes. Medicine is an important part of
our lives and marijuana has been tested to cure cancerous cells as well as help people with their
epilepsy. Using marijuana for medical purposes is one major aspect that people should take into
consideration for legalizing it. Marijuana's market has also been brought to many people's attention
because it has been poised to grow faster than smart phones. Together, these reasons have been more
than enough for people to consider legalizing marijuana.

In addition, "cannabis may offer fewer negative side effects that opioids–which can be highly

Many people from all around the world believe that marijuana is an addictive drug that has ruined
the lives of millions. The U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that more than
37,000 annual U.S deaths are the effects of alcohol alone. Alternatively, there is not even a
category for the deaths caused by marijuana. Many of us think that marijuana kills brain cells but
studies show teens that use marijuana as well as alcohol suffered significantly less damage to the
white blood cells in their brains. Alcohol use contributes to aggressive and violent behavior while
marijuana will only make a person feel more comfortable. "Alcohol is clearly the drug with the most
evidence to support a direct intoxication, violent relationships, whereas cannabis reduces the
likelihood of violence during intoxications" (Shuette, 2013). The government does not even track
violent acts specifically related to marijuana use. Marijuana and alcohol should be switched where
marijuana is legal and alcohol is not because it will benefit people more than alcohol will. With the
debt crisis that we are currently facing, you would think the U.S would do anything to

Many diseases cannot be cured but most doctors can prescribe pain killers that can cause serious

was recognized as a medicinal drug and was listed in the United States Pharmacopeia from 1850
to 1942. The United States has been in a financial repression, our economy is at the lowest point it

money to spent on issues that are minute to society. The economical standing point is clear, the
economy does not need to execute something that has been pitifully downgraded by society.

these three reasons are enough to get marijuana legalized. My first reason is it can be for medical
uses. It's used in many different forms. Some examples of those forms are smoking it, vaporized,
pills, or even edibles such as brownies. It can be used for many medical purposes such as seizures

In this essay I will give 3 reasons why cannabis should be legalized in the USA. First, it can be
used for medical reasons, for example, it can cure the Parkinson and other health problem during
years of used the cannabis, second the economy will grow enormously in the USA, and the last
reason is that legalizing cannabis is less harmful than Tabaco. USA should legalize the cannabis in
all the states because it will be so great for those people that are really in a bad position of health
they can cure them in a very easy way for them and not taking several pills a day. For example,
doctors are saying that using cannabis for cancer would be less painful than doing the
chemotherapy every time, especially for children it would be a lot better. For example, in my

Marijuana really is the only medicine that relieves all the pain and suffering people may go
through. It sometimes can treat the symptoms of any other medical condition that may be

people ask for this prescription. Marijuana is also a good prescribed drug for muscle spasms,
nausea, and seizures. Muscle spasms are when a muscle tightens and causes pain and potentially
serious joint issues. Marijuana can not only calm a muscle spasm while it's happening but it can
also treat the direct cause of the spasm in some illnesses. Nausea is a feeling of sickness at the
stomach and marijuana is a effective at reducing nausea. For people suffering from nausea smoke
marijuana to relieve the nausea symptoms quickly. Seizures are symptoms of many different
disorders that can affect the brain. It was a man that was in college the name of Tim Shellman,
that use to have seizures back to back so his doctor had referred him to a psychiatrist. Tim kept
having seizures until he went to this therapy place and that's when the doctors decided to remove
him from his seizure medication, so after he was off the seizure medication that's when he started to

Marijuana is a green or brown mix of preserved, crushed leaves from the marijuana plant. A
psychoactive drug, marijuana contains fifty–percent more tar than tobacco. Smoking the harmful
plant can damage the brain, lungs, and the male reproductive system and may escalate the effects of
epilepsy and psychosis (Kahler, 1988). Within campus colleges and universities, there are a lot of
students who are using marijuana recreationally. Long–term marijuana use can induce negative

which clearly interfere with learning. Tetrahydrocannabinol, the active ingredient in marijuana, can

Currently, possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana is often dealt with through a fine.
However, this penalty will heighten as premiers and chiefs are in favor of zero tolerance, early
enforcement, and early diversion and rehabilitation. Associations are concerned about any attempts
to allow the medicinal use of the drug (King, 1999). We should be eliminating any thoughts of this
drug being available.
The second reason that the government should not legalize marijuana is that doing so will send
the message that is okay to use other psychoactive drugs. Legalizing marijuana could result in
advertising of this drug to adolescents. A study was conducted during 2003 showing that roughly
48 percent of twelfth graders reported using alcohol in the past thirty days and 24 percent
reported smoking cigarettes in the past thirty days. Household access to illicit substances is
coupled with a greater risk of marijuana use among both younger and older adolescents. This is
often coupled with parental drug use which sends the message that it is okay to use psychoactive
drugs (Joffe & Yancy, 2004, p. e636). The general idea is that we, as people, shouldn't be making it
easier for our children to get drugs. Thus far, it is shown that there is a struggle to educate the youth
to avoid the use of psychoactive drugs. However, certain organizations, such as DARE (Drug Abuse
Resistance Education), have made solid efforts to

Should Marijuana be Legalized? Essay
Weed, bud, ganja, chronic, dro, herbs, grass, trees, pot, reefer; these are all names of the one drug
that causes so much dispute, marijuana. Loved by so many, and hated by the law. It's a two sided
argument which everyone has their own opinion on. Is there any specific reason why weed should
be illegal, or is the government just making money from catching people with it? Is there any real
medical purpose for marijuana, or is it just a gateway drug for kids? These are the questions
everyone should know the answers to. Whose side are you on?
First, when trying to decide what you think about the legalization of marijuana, you need to stop to
listen, and actually understand where each side of the argument is coming from....show more

Marijuana just relaxes you and is just something to make you feel better; it does not make people
act stupid. Young people that get caught with marijuana ruin their record and often get stuck in the
system with no way out except to continue living lives of crime instead of turning their lives
around." The people all for the legalization of marijuana might say something like that, but like
every argument, there are always two sides. The people against the legalization of marijuana and
that are fighting for marijuana to remain legal, argue, "Marijuana is a gateway drug and it leads to
the use of harder, more serious drugs, and marijuana is often the cause of drug addiction. There
would more people driving high on weed, which would result in more accidents and traffic
offenses, especially among the youth. The drug marijuana is just not right and it was not made to
be smoked by humans or used to get high. If marijuana is legal, then there is more likely a chance
that kids will start using it at a younger age because it will be easier to obtain. Marijuana is just
unhealthy, and physically, not good for your body. It doesn't serve a great or accepted medical
purpose. With marijuana illegal, the country can keep all the drug users and criminals off of the
streets." These are some of the arguments that some people fight for against the legalization of

Reasons Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized Essay

  • 1. Why Should Marijuana Be Legalized Marco was sitting at a park smoking marijuana when the police quickly arrived. Someone who lived in the neighborhood had called the police and reported a minor smoking marijuana at the park. The police quickly arrested Marco and took him to jail for 3 months. The police were asking questions about why Marco was smoking marijuana, knowing it was illegal. He responded saying, marijuana helps him think and helps him clear his head. Marco was having a bad day and decided he needed to collect his thoughts. This was not a typical day in the life of marco. He never really smokes unless he is going through a rough time. People fail to realize that marijuana is a plant that many people smoke to clear their head and forget about bad things that may have happened that day. Marijuana should be legalized because many people use it as a stress reliever, alcohol and tobacco cause more health problems than marijuana, and it is used for medical reasons. so why shouldn't it be used for other reasons?...show more content... There have been many cases where people have been arrested for marijuana. When police ask why people smoke it they most likely say it reduces stress. Like the character Marco there was a man who was caught smoking in the park. When the police asked questions he said it relieves stress. People are under a lot of stress and sometimes need to collect their thoughts. There are many cases where people have attempted suicide due to stress. In fact, studies show that "With a global increase of medical marijuana use to treat health conditions, advocates and studies are showing that medical marijuana can be used to treat anxiety disorders" (Ptasevich 1). Marijuana could be able to reduce the amount of suicide attempts due to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Why Do Marijuana Need To Be Legalized Marijuana needs to be legalized in every state. Everything besides severe drugs are legalized such as: prescription medication and over the counter medicines that cause people to get addicted. Even tobacco is legalized in every state in the United States. Marijuana is a drug that comes from plants or herbs. It tends to send people to another level as in high. "Sends them to the moon" they say! Marijuana needs to be legalized because people going to smoke it anyway. Some states have approved "medical marijuana" to ease symptom of various health problems. People tend mix it in food or inhale Marijuana using a vapor. Mostly, some people roll it up and smoke it like a cigar or cigarette. Marijuana is also referred to as weed or cannabis. • 3. The "War on Drugs" has been fighting a tough opponent over the past few decades. Aimed at cutting down on drug use and sales, this "war" has brought many negative side effects along with it. Aside from limiting the freedoms of millions of Americans, The War on Drugs has caused many more problems while also managing to fail at drug deterrence and distribution. Since many citizens already back the legalization of marijuana, as demonstrated by Oakland's passing of Measure Z, which makes marijuana related offenses the "lowest priority" to Oakland law enforcement officials (Hill 2004), marijuana should be legalized. First off, marijuana isn't even that bad of a drug. It is a plant ally and hasn't been proven to do any major harm....show more content... Although the burning of marijuana creates some of the same harmful chemicals that you get when you burn a cigarette, marijuana smokers do not smoke nearly as much marijuana as cigarette smokers smoke tobacco, and there are many more toxic chemicals in cigarettes. The other legal substance that causes much more harm than marijuana is alcohol. Alcohol can kill people from poisoning, to drunk driving, to even walking off of cliffs. Alcohol also has the power to make people act violently. This is something that marijuana users don't experience. If the government allows people to use these substances, with some regulation of course, why can't marijuana become legalized with similar regulations? The criminalization of marijuana has been limiting the freedoms of Americans for decades. Citizens have the right to make their own choices in life and in their daily activities. Smoking marijuana is a way for many users to gain medical relief and to relax and unwind from a hard day of work just like law abiding citizens like to do with a beer or a cigarette. Since it is illegal, users must hide and do these activities in private. It has also put the drug under a very negative light for uninformed Americans who just assume that marijuana is bad because it is illegal. If we look at an example like the Netherlands, where marijuana for personal use has been legalized, we can see that legalization would work and not cause a crazy Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay about Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized Marijuana's illegalization has always been erroneous. Early in the 1900s, a surge of Mexicans immigrated to the U.S., and the marijuana they brought with them was quickly associated with them. In the 1930s, tensions between white Americans and Mexican immigrants were heightened due to the Great Depression, and the use of marijuana was ultimately prohibited for the general public in 1937 with the Marijuana Tax Act ("Marijuana Timeline"). By the 1960s, marijuana became a symbol of counterculture, and the government stopped any research involved with its properties. In 1971, President Richard Nixon began the "War on Drugs," and marijuana was dragged into it. Nixon assigned a commission to review the danger marijuana possesses, and the...show more content... Studies by the British Medical Association and World Health Organization have concluded that medical marijuana could be used to treat symptoms of certain diseases (Koch). Due to the extensive testing that these two organizations did and the fact that they are very reputable, there is enough evidence that medical marijuana should be used to help patients. Since marijuana is readily available, and there is research to confirm its medical uses, there is no reason not to use it. Opponents of the use of medical marijuana argue that it could have unintended societal consequences. Robert L. DuPont of the National Institute on Drug Abuse argues that teen attitudes to marijuana are linked to medical marijuana laws, and that medical marijuana would "normalize drug use" ("Teen Drug Use"). This is not true. The Institute of Medicine was asked to conduct a study on medical marijuana by the White House. The IOM concluded that, among other things, the use of medical marijuana would not increase recreational usage rates of marijuana (Koch). Since this organization is clearly reputable, there is enough evidence that the legalization medical marijuana wouldn't affect the general population's use of marijuana in any way. Since DuPont also didn't provide any evidence for his claim, it can be dismissed. Due to the evidence provided, it is clear that marijuana has positive health benefits. In addition, marijuana should be legalized because its illegalization Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Why We Should Legalize Marijuana Marijuana has been used in our world for over 2,000 years by a wide variety of cultures. The first country to utilize the effects of this plant were the people in china, because the emperor said it made him feel better. Today people in our society still use this plant for a variety of reasons, ranging from medical use to just having fun using it. In this essay I'm going to explain to you why legalizing marijuana will benefit and improve our society entirely. The first reason and probably the most important one is health benefits. Like I said earlier the medical use of cannabis has been used for thousands of years and many different cultures have even stated that the "magic plant" takes away their pain and gives them powers. Although it doesn't...show more content... In the US thousands of people are jailed for having possession of marijuana and who pays for the inmates to be in jail we do and if its legalized then those thousands of people wouldn't be in jail and will save millions of hard earned tax payer dollars. With the extra money the states are earning then they'll be able to put the money to better use like roads, and better public facilities. Even though the unemployment ratehas been dropping in recent years marijuana will create thousands of jobs and dispensaries and things like that. With all the new jobs coming in the number will drop even more. The war on drugs has been going on in our country for decades and I think I can find a way to improve it. By legalizing marijuana all of the Mexican cartel members wouldn't have any reason to sell it because there wouldn't be any profit in it. With that in place it would give us less time in searching for marijuana and more time for searching for much harder drugs such as cocaine. All in all, this shouldn't even be a debate in my opinion alcohol is 10 times as bad as marijuana and its legal. So why is it illegal? I hope that these points have made you believe that this "drug:" should be legal, and judging by the way it's being used more and more it should be legalized in all 50 states within 10 years. So, join me in fighting for its legalization because the benefits of this plant are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Synthesis Essay On Legalizing Marijuana Imagine a world where marijuana became legalized. Most believe that legalizing marijuana would would be a be dangerous thing to do and should stay illegal , while others see it as a use of good reliable sources. From a philosophical point of view, individuals deserve the right to make choices for themselves. Marijuana has been tested and proven to provide a very positive impact on the American society for many reasons. Some of these reasons are for America's economy, health and even crime. The debate to legalize marijuana in the United States of America has been fought over nonstop since the existence of the drug and its effects. Marijuana should become legal in the state of New Jersey. The most important reason why the state should legalize...show more content... People need to open their eyes and stop being ignorant about the fact that marijuana being legal would help the United States in their need of help. Our police have devoted thousands of hours to arresting ,booking and imprisoning marijuana smokers , many of whom are otherwise law–abiding. Unfortunate of these arrests have spent over a decade in prison, for nothing more than possession of cannabis for personal use. These arrests being made take officers away from more urgent issues,(Source C). All the suspects of marijuana possession all end up in court and again without it you have freed up the courts where it can trial other suspects. Again people against marijuana legalization will say court resources will drop due to crime rates rising is completely false and has no evidence to even support that. Opponents of making marijuana legal would like society to believe that marijuana shouldn't be legalized. It is stated that marijuana is terrible for your physical health.A recent Northwestern University studies have founded that marijuana users have abnormal brain structure and poor memory and that chronic marijuana abuse may lead to brain changes resemble into being diagnosed Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Reasons Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized Why marijuana should be legalized Marijuana should be legalized for many different reasons. One reason is that legal drugs such as tobacco and alcohol are far more dangerous in comparison to cannabis. A second reason explains how prohibition is an utter failure and the war on drugs has done more harm to our country than good. A third reason explains how having marijuana illegal in the United States makes billions for Mexico's drug cartels and other underground criminal organizations that grow the marijuana. Marijuana also has hundreds of medical benefits that date back to 2700 BC. Lastly, the United States spends so much of our tax dollars on keeping marijuana illegal when the country could gain trillions if it were legalized, taxed, and regulated. Marijuana should be legal because prohibition doesn't help the country in any way, plus, it causes a lot of problems. There is no scientific evidence that suggests prohibition decreases drug use, but there are several theories that suggest prohibition might actually increase drug use. One effect of marijuana prohibition is that it makes the drug available to minors. Marijuana dealers usually don't care how old a buyer is, as long as they have the money. It is actually easier for high school students to obtain marijuana than it is alcohol; this is because alcohol is legal and therefore regulated to keep it away from teenagers. If marijuana were legal to people above the age of twenty–one like alcohol, then it would be harder for teenagers to obtain it. Prohibition is not working and I believe that education and treatment are better ways to address the drug problem. The two most deadly drugs in America are legal. Marijuana should be legalized because it is safer than alcohol and tobacco both. Marijuana is not a dangerous drug and has never killed anybody. Alcohol and tobacco accumulate over 675,000 American deaths each year. Over the counter drugs and aspirin kill over 35,000 Americans each year. Alcohol and cigarettes are highly addictive and can cause an endless amount of health problems. Alcohol alone can cause gastritis, pancreatitis, ulcers, liver cancer, cirrhosis, and other liver diseases. Tobacco contains at least nineteen different types of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Why Should Marijuana Be Legalized Throughout the years, marijuana have been spreading through society and there is always a constant debate whether it should be legalized or not. There's also questions should marijuana be legalized how would they make it work. These are all questions that the society, and the government keep a very close eye on. There is a big divided opinions and groups people believe in this matter. Some people believe that marijuana should be legalized, others think it shouldn't and some believe that it should be but with a modification on the usage. Marijuana should be legalized throughout the entire country because there many other drugs that do harm or make a person do a harmful thing and they are legalized. • 9. Why Marijuana Should be Legalized Essay example Debate on why Marijuana should be legalized Marijuana is a public name for an illegal substance (drug) produced from the Cannabis (Cannabis sativa) plant. It is also called weed, ganja, grass, kaya and pot. The drug has many chemical compounds and in particular, it has THC (delta–9–tetrahydrocannabinol) which is responsible for changing mind functions leading to alternations of cognition, mood, behavior, perception and consciousness. "It is the most widely used illicit substance in the world" (World, 2010, p. 198). Its usage includes religious, medicinal, recreational and spiritual purposes. In the beginning of the 20th century, in most countries marijuana was illegalized. In our society today, a big debate has emerged. People are...show more content... If the drug use was legalized, there would be ways to regulate and control its accessibility and usage among kids and the youth. A regulated, legal market in marijuana would reduce its sales and use among the young individuals (Marijuana, 1999). Since it is not, many kids and teenagers can easily access the drug and take it in. "Marijuana dealers usually do not care how old you are as long as you have money" (Marijuana, 1999). Since our aim is to lessen the drug's consumption, we need to have open programs to enlighten the youth about the drug, regulate its usage among kids and have treatment and rehabilitation programs for individuals with Marijuana related problems. The government has tried to use criminal penalties to prevent Marijuana use for over 75 years (Marijuana, 1999). This has been done by trying "to chase peaceful people who happen to like to get high" (Marijuana, 1999). Locking them in prison only worsens their situation. This is because they can easily get the drug in prison and continue to consume it. These people need to be understood and taken to treatment and rehabilitation centers. According to Pi (2007), Marijuana was illegalized due to another reason. In 1930, the drug was illegalized "in the United States for population control of Mexican and Black minorities" (Pi, 2007) because legislators were "afraid that one day the minorities would overthrow the white government" (Pi, 2007). Such a reason is irrelevant. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Why Marijuana Should Be Legalised Essay Why Marijuana Should Be Legalised There is no denying that the drug problem in our country today has reached epidemic proportions. The problem has gotten so out of hand that many options are being considered to control and/or solve it. Ending the drug war may not seem to be the best answer at first, but the so–called "war on drugs" has actually accomplished very little. Different options need to be considered. Legalization is an option that hasn't gotten much of a chance, but should be given one. It is my position that marijuana should be legalized. Although many people feel that the legalization of marijuana would result in an increase in the amount of crime and drug abuse, I contend that...show more content... The legalization of marijuana would be a boom to the economy. During prohibition, alcohol was still sold and used, but people were doing it illegally. The 21st amendment repealed prohibition, and alcohol taxes were increased. The same thing should happen with pot. Marijuana could be heavily taxed to increase our country's revenue. Moreover, major companies operating under strict government regulations would legally produce marijuana, resulting in a higher quality product free of poisons and other adulterants. Making marijuana legal would greatly reduce the vast amount of money spent on drug law enforcement every year. Drug dealers and users seem to constantly be one step ahead of the authorities, anyway. If one drug lord is caught, for instance, another one turns up somewhere else to take his place. We cannot win. For example: "In 1990, well over 10 billion dollars was spent on drug enforcement alone. Drugs accounted for more than 40 percent of all felony indictments in our nation's courts in 1992. This figure is quadruple what it was in 1985. Forty percent of the people in federal prison are drug law violators". One can only imagine what this figure would be like today. Too much money is wasted on a cause that there seems to be no end to." In 1989, a Republican county executive of Mercer County, NJ estimated that it would Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized Essay Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized Willie Nelson once said, "I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?" Marijuana has been a plant for longer than any human has been alive. Civilizations have used marijuana for hundreds of years for hundreds of purposes. But ever since the 1970's when growing or having possession became illegal marijuana has been looked down upon by a majority of people living in the United States. Just because it's illegal doesn't give someone the right to look down upon you for doing a drug that's been here longer than we...show more content... It also significantly reduces the ability for cancer to spread. Research shows that in cannabis, cannabidiol helps stop the spread of breast cancer. This does the same this as chemotherapy, but without the pain and unpleasant side effects. Marijuana can't cause any permanent mental illness. Today marijuana is stronger than it was back in the 70s but it is not anymore dangerous. Less than 1% of people who smoke marijuana become dependent on it, and it is very unlikely to become addicted. Smoking tobacco is more harmful to your lungs than smoking marijuana. It only takes a couple inhalations of marijuana smoke to become high. Let's say you're addicted to cigarettes and smoke a pack a day, keeping in mind that cigarettes are legal. To get high off of marijuana it would only take about a fourth of the tobacco you inhale in just one cigarette, just to become high. When you smoke cigarettes you are continuously inhaling tar, nicotine, and many other chemicals that harm your lungs and may result in lung cancer. Drinking alcohol is also much more harmful for you than marijuana is, and it too is legal. Alcohol damages your internal organs like your liver, kidneys, and circulatory system. Alcohol also has a much higher dependency than does marijuana. Tens of thousands of people are dependent on alcohol everyday sometimes ruining one's personal and family life. Alcohol also causes you to lose your inhibitions which could get Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Why Marijuana Should be Legalized Mollie Farragher Mrs. Nunes Online English 12 16 January 2015 Why Marijuana should be legalized Multiple studies have found that marijuana is less harmful than alcohol and tobacco yet somehow is still considered a schedule 1 drug along with other more extreme drugs such as heroin. Marijuana is the leaves and shredded flowers of hemp plant called Cannabis sativa which is usually a green or gray mixture. Marijuana can be not only smoked in the form a joint, blunt, bowl, bong, etc but can also be eaten. Uses of marijuana can be medically or recreationally and the use of it can be dated back to thousands of years ago in Asia when its effect was discovered for medical and spiritual purposes. Colorado school districts were actually one of the first to see some profits from the new state funds. In May of 2014 a funding project in Colorado known as BEST (Building Excellent Schools Today) received more than $1.1 million, all from marijuana taxes. Not only can money be gained through tax revenue if it was legalized but money that was previously spent because of marijuana prohibition can now be saved. Every year our country spends $68 billion on prisoners with one–third of them being imprisoned for nonviolent drug crimes (half of these being marijuana–related charges). Therefore, legalizing marijuana would save $11.3 billion because it wouldn't be spent on prisons. That money being spent on prisons is your tax dollars! Not only does keeping those in prison with marijuana–related charges cost a lot but so does time and money of our police enforcement when they have to charge someone simply having a joint in their home or with friends. Imagine how much police officers could focus on other crimes if they didn't have to worry about marijuana charges. Not only does the legalization have many medical benefits and tax revenue but also benefits the society as whole by providing job opportunity and a decrease in unemployment and crime. Many have always believed that with the legalization of marijuana would come with higher crime rate but since Colorado Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized The first and most basic reason that marijuana should be legal is that there is no good reason for it not to be legal. Some people ask "why should marijuana be legalized?" but we should ask "Why should marijuana be illegal?" From a philosophical point of view, individuals deserve the right to make choices for themselves. The government only has a right to limit those choices if the individual's actions endanger someone else. This does not apply to marijuana, since the individual who chooses to use marijuana does so according to his or her own free will. The government also may have a right to limit individual actions if the actions pose a significant threat to the individual. But this argument does not logically apply to marijuana...show more content... These people deserve the freedom to practice their religion as they see fit, without the government telling them what to do. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says that the government cannot 'prohibit the free exercise' of religion, and so marijuana should be legal. Many people believe that marijuana can be used as medicine to treat certain illnesses. Canada and several states in the U.S. have passed laws in recent years to specifically allow sick people to use marijuana for medicinal purposes. Still, the U.S. federal government considers marijuana a Schedule One substance which has no medicinal value. We support the rights of sick people to help themselves by using marijuana as medicine. In the long term, we believe that medicinal marijuana will be a nonissue because marijuana will be legal for responsible adults to use regardless of illness. Many agencies, which are anti marijuana, such as Drug Enforcement Agency and police departments, argue that marijuana shouldn't be legalized. These agencies believe that marijuana shouldn't be legalized because if marijuana is to become legal then it will become much easier for people who do not need the drug to acquire it. Then people will raise the question why is marijuana illegal at all if it's a medicine. The main reason why the Drug Enforcement Agency doesn't want marijuana to be legal is because there is no hard core evidence that proves that marijuana is an Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Medicine is an important part of our lives and marijuana has been tested to cure cancerous cells as well as help people with their epilepsy. Marijuana's market has also been brought to many people's attention because it has been poised to grow faster than smart phones. In addition, "cannabis may offer fewer negative side effects that opioids–which can be highly addictive–and NSAIDS (non–steroidal anti– inflammatory drugs), which can induce stomach ulcers, bleeding, and kidney failure" (Ultius, 2013). Many people from all around the world believe that marijuana is an addictive drug that has ruined the lives of millions. The U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that more than 37,000 annual U.S deaths are the effects of alcohol alone. Alternatively, there is not even a category for the deaths caused by marijuana. Many of us think that marijuana kills brain cells but studies show teens that use marijuana as well as alcohol suffered significantly less damage to the white blood cells in their brains. Alcohol use contributes to aggressive and violent behavior while marijuana will only make a person feel more comfortable. "Alcohol is clearly the drug with the most evidence to support a direct intoxication, violent relationships, whereas cannabis reduces the likelihood of violence during intoxications" (Shuette, 2013). The government does not even track violent acts specifically related to marijuana use. Marijuana and alcohol should be switched where marijuana is legal and alcohol is not because it will benefit people more than alcohol will. The economy is unstable and does not have the time of money to spent on issues that are minute to society. The economical standing point is clear, the economy does not need to execute something that has been pitifully downgraded by society. People do not understand that marijuana crops could also be used as a source of income for the economy. My three reasons are that it can be used for medical purposes, it can get rid of crime related to marijuana, and it's better than alcohol. Some examples of those forms are smoking it, vaporized, pills, or even edibles such as brownies. It can be used for many medical purposes such as seizures and muscle spasms. An example of this is a man named Jeremy. He has a virus that gives him seizures ever since he was six years old. His family now uses medical marijuana to help control them. While nothing else worked, marijuana did. My second reason is Get more content on HelpWriting.net

First, it can be used for medical reasons, for example, it can cure the Parkinson and other health problem during years of used the cannabis, second the economy will grow enormously in the USA, and the last reason is that legalizing cannabis is less harmful than Tabaco. USA should legalize the cannabis in all the states because it will be so great for those people that are really in a bad position of health they can cure them in a very easy way for them and not taking several pills a day. For example, doctors are saying that using cannabis for cancer would be less painful than doing the chemotherapy every time, especially for children it would be a lot better. For example, in my opinion, it will be easier if cannabis be legalized in all the states just for the fact that children don't have to move from their country to another country that the cannabis legalize, they will stay...show more content... A psychoactive drug, marijuana contains fifty–percent more tar than tobacco. Smoking the harmful plant can damage the brain, lungs, and the male reproductive system and may escalate the effects of epilepsy and psychosis (Kahler, 1988). Within campus colleges and universities, there are a lot of students who are using marijuana recreationally. Currently, possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana is often dealt with through a fine. However, this penalty will heighten as premiers and chiefs are in favor of zero tolerance, early enforcement, and early diversion and rehabilitation. Associations are concerned about any attempts to allow the medicinal use of the drug (King, 1999). We should be eliminating any thoughts of this drug being available. The second reason that the government should not legalize marijuana is that doing so will send the message that is okay to use other psychoactive drugs. Legalizing marijuana could result in advertising of this drug to adolescents. A study was conducted during 2003 showing that roughly 48 percent of twelfth graders reported using alcohol in the past thirty days and 24 percent reported smoking cigarettes in the past thirty days. Household access to illicit substances is coupled with a greater risk of marijuana use among both younger and older adolescents. This is often coupled with parental drug use which sends the message that it is okay to use psychoactive drugs (Joffe & Yancy, 2004, p. e636). The general idea is that we, as people, shouldn't be making it easier for our children to get drugs. Thus far, it is shown that there is a struggle to educate the youth to avoid the use of psychoactive drugs. However, certain organizations, such as DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), have made solid efforts to Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Loved by so many, and hated by the law. It's a two sided argument which everyone has their own opinion on. Is there any real medical purpose for marijuana, or is it just a gateway drug for kids? These are the questions everyone should know the answers to. Whose side are you on? Young people that get caught with marijuana ruin their record and often get stuck in the system with no way out except to continue living lives of crime instead of turning their lives around." The people all for the legalization of marijuana might say something like that, but like every argument, there are always two sides. The people against the legalization of marijuana and that are fighting for marijuana to remain legal, argue, "Marijuana is a gateway drug and it leads to the use of harder, more serious drugs, and marijuana is often the cause of drug addiction. There would more people driving high on weed, which would result in more accidents and traffic offenses, especially among the youth. The drug marijuana is just not right and it was not made to be smoked by humans or used to get high. If marijuana is legal, then there is more likely a chance that kids will start using it at a younger age because it will be easier to obtain. Marijuana is just unhealthy, and physically, not good for your body. It doesn't serve a great or accepted medical purpose. With marijuana illegal, the country can keep all the drug users and criminals off of the streets."
