ASSIGNMENT
Objectives
This assignmentgives students an opportunity to explore into the practical aspect of the course.
Besides enhancing students’ understanding of the principles and concepts of information
technology,this assignment also provides the opportunity for students to practice writingformal
documentation skill.
Submission Details
Assignment report is to be bound in one book with proper labels.
Use A4 size papers.
A report should be in 1.15 lines spacing, using Calibri font ofsize 12
Your report should contain the outcomes of the research, evaluations and recommendations.
Please ensure that all pages are securely bound together, numbered, and each page should have
your name on the top right-hand corner.
Acknowledgement and Table of Contents should be included in your report.
All references should be quoted clearly by using Harvard Referencing System.

Grouping
This is a group assignment. You are required to work in a group of 2 or 3 students. Each and every
student in the group is responsible for finding, analyzing and preparing the assignment report. All
students should contribute evenly to the tasks assigned.
Plagiarism
It is not acceptable for students to submit identical answers, by simply copying the work done by
another student or group. Assignment that is copied from another student or group will be awarded

2. asfailed. Refer to the attachment of the Plagiarism Statement and Declaration Form. Read and
understand the plagiarism statements then write your name, your student ID, and signature for
declaration.
Late Submission
The assignment should be submitted on or before the due date unless there is a legitimate reason as
to why it is impossible for you to complete the assignment. As a general rule, no extension of time
will be granted. Assignment received after the due date without legitimate reason will be penalised
10 marks per dayof being late.
QUESTION
UPC is an engineering consultancy firm in Kuala Lumpur. Its core business is to provide engineering
consultancy services, especially in designing and constructing airport, highway, bridge, and etc. As
the current computer systems in the company are already more than 5 years and are out of warranty,
UPC is looking for procurement proposal for computer systems upgrade.
Here are the basic requirements for their computer systems:
1. A computer system that is capable for running AUTOCAD application. Proposed user for this
system is an engineer who is required to use AUTOCAD application for designing technical
drawings.
2. A computer system that is suitable for running office application such as Microsoft Office
application. Proposed user for this system is an administrative staff or secretary.
You are required to review the latest brand with specification and propose a procurement plan for
suitable computer systems and software to meet the company’s procurement requirements.
Section1(18 marks):
Review TWO (2) differentbrandswith TWO (2) different specifications of computer systems from
each brand that can fulfil the above requirements.The reviews on each different brand of computer
system should include the following information:

Make a detail analysis and comparison on each of the computer systemthat you have
selectedabove by choosing SEVEN (7)criteria and write down the verdict for each criterion
listed.Two samples criteria are given and you need to include FIVE (5)other criteria by your

Report Presentation Requirements
Students are required to adhere to the following sequence of presentation requirements:

Submission form (cover page) – Appendix 1 (Fill up all details except grade and feedback)
(ii)
Plagiarism statement
(iii)
Assessment criteria form–Appendix 2 (Fill up your name)
(iv)
Acknowledgement- Students should express their appreciation towards any 3rd party for
assistance and provision of information used in the report.
(v)
Table of contents- It should indicate the various headings or sub-headings covered in the
assignment and page numbers.
(vi)
Body (Answers) - This is the main part of the report and students are to follow the
requirements of the assignment.
(vii)
References - students should include a list of references which the students have used only.
Simply including details of reference books, magazine, articles or Internet sources is not
allowed. Students should only include as a list those references which the students haveused.
All references must be stated by using Harvard Referencing System.
(viii) Appendices - As far as possible students should include all directly relevant materials,
figures or diagrams in the main body rather than in the Appendix in order to enhance better
understanding of the assignment. This section is reserved for items which may not be directly
relevant or essential to enhance a reader’s understanding of the assignment or which may
interrupt the smooth reading of the assignment (for example being too voluminous).
