4. The following outline individual comments by area
List 3 key benefits you have received from the program so far?
1 Sharing learnings with individuals of different background PDU(s)
2 1) established and built relationship with mentee 2) assisted mentee in gaining PM knowledge 3) provided
an opportunity to improve coaching skills
4 Practical PMI issues discussion and solution Enhancing PMI knowledge Learning skills and tools/practice
of best practice
5 Cross cultural PM insight Forced me to review my own PM practices Like the fact I am assisting another
to become a better PM
7 Networking. Understanding of my current career path and challenges. Helpful advice from my mentor
8 1. Opportunity to help someone getting into PM profession 2. Exposure to new industry 3. PDUs.
9 The chance to share experiences Learning about other companies Offering my experience to others
10 Learned from 20 years of experience from my mentor keep me closer to project management share
common interest friendship
11 More sessions where several mentees and mentors can get together and learn from each other rather than
just talking one-on-one.
12 Greater insight into the PM world Answers to questions Networking
13 Learning Sharing Networking
14 Reward of seeing my Mentee grow. Mentee provided some good reference material
15 1. learned new industry 2. learned new PM knowledge 3. Meeting my personal development objective
16 Established a rapport and understanding of what I want to achieve with respect to my goals Understanding
from the Mentor how they approached similar goals Being focused
18 Coaching for job interviews Explanation of Data Loss Prevention strategies A new friend
19 refresh solid PM practices Learn about different companies Rewarding to see how the mentoring is
helping the mentee
20 - I have been able to develop new perspectives on what people need to know (I write a book on project
management, so this is very helpful); - I have helped a few people establish career goals; - I enjoy getting
together with a group of PMs monthly
1. Relationships
2. PDUs
3. Learning's
5. What additional activities would you like the mentoring committee to organize?
2 In my opinion, the sessions organized suffice. It may be valuable to have a "lessons learned" session with
other mentors/mentees and also a one-on-one session with Joe or Victoria so that they can provide
additional inputs/perspectives.
4 training or PMI related games
7 More frequent communication. Note: I am not interested in Facebook
9 I can't think of anything else the program needs
10 organize events with all the participants
12 Social outing
13 Group Outings
16 Meeting other mentees and mentors
19 A more user friendly website to obtain information on mentoring and submit updates
20 I think this is difficult to define, because many people have many different needs. - The expectations need
to be set more clearly, so perhaps there should be one or two information sessions before people sign up
for something they cannot succeed in, or with expectations that cannot be satisfied.
25 Workshops
6. How could we improve the program?
2 An excellent program!!!! No real improvements necessary
5 Create some type of standardized meting summary/reporting forms and log for all to use
10 I like as it is. excellent, well organize
11 Better matching. I was paired with a mentee who has nothing in common with me and doesn't seem
interested in learning from me. Maybe let the mentors be more involved in selecting their mentee (or even
both ways, mentors and mentees could see profiles with no names and short-list the ones they are
compatible with)? Or have requirements for participants that they must be project management
professionals - not people with a PMP looking for PDUs but who aren't actually project management
practitioners
13 Please keep up the great work!
16 Sometimes life happens and what goal you set for yourself in the beginning might change in the middle.
The program should evaluate the benefits received not whether goals were achieved or not
19 Ability to enter, track and produce summary reports on mentoring activities - this would reduce the need to
e-mail spreadsheets and ensure that the mentee and mentor are aligned in their reporting.
25 Projects simulations
-simulation projects
-face to face mentoring
-matching criteria
