interesting method for delivering content in
the year 11 Prelim Biology course
 Enable students to become more active and
involved learners and to take more initiative
and responsibility for their learning
 Prepare students better for the independent
approach needed for their HSC studies
 Archive resources - available when needed
 Biology – very content heavy
o 4 Topics in 3 terms - up to 48-50 dot points per
topic
o Theory and practicals
 Prelim Biology
o 2 Topics focus on Evolution and Fossils
o Can become dry and boring
o Students become passive in their learning
o Rely 100% on teacher information and delivery
o Year 11 Biology resources are barren of good
digital and student-centred resources





To develop interactive PDF portfolios
consisting of a collection of digital activities.
Originally - focus on the ‘Life on Earth’ topic
which outlines the origin of life and the
evolution and fossil record of Life on Earth
After consultation with the Biology staff and
HOD and due to an existing assessment
task, focus on the ‘Evolution of Australian
Biota’ topic.










  • 3.  Biology – very content heavy o 4 Topics in 3 terms - up to 48-50 dot points per topic o Theory and practicals  Prelim Biology o 2 Topics focus on Evolution and Fossils o Can become dry and boring o Students become passive in their learning o Rely 100% on teacher information and delivery o Year 11 Biology resources are barren of good digital and student-centred resources
  • 4.    To develop interactive PDF portfolios consisting of a collection of digital activities. Originally - focus on the ‘Life on Earth’ topic which outlines the origin of life and the evolution and fossil record of Life on Earth After consultation with the Biology staff and HOD and due to an existing assessment task, focus on the ‘Evolution of Australian Biota’ topic.
