• Pain is a signal in your nervous system that something
may be wrong. It is an unpleasant feeling, such as a prick,
tingle, burn or ache. Pain may be sharp or dull. It may
come and go, or it may be constant.

• Acute pain: pain of less than 3 to 6 months duration.
• Chronic pain: pain lasting for more than 3-6 months, or
persisting beyond the course of an acute disease.
