Dear Linda,
Thank you very much for your letter. I am very happy to receive it.
How are you? What are you doing these day? I know that you often stay up late, but
you should go to bed early.
As you know, I'm an electronic and telecommunication engineer. I work in Ha Noi. I
start work at 8:00 AM and finish work at 5:30 PM every day. Although it's hard work, I feel
happy with it.
I like playing sports, I play tennis every Thursday and Saturday afternoon. This helps
me to keep fit and healthy.
I also like pop music. I listen to music in my free time. At the weekend, my friends
and I sometimes go to the cinema.
Next year, I am going to London. I want to understand much about your country and
that will be useful for my job. I also want to learn how to speak good English and I hope that I
will meet some new friends in London.
Well, it's late now. I should stop because I feel sleepy.

Thank you very much for your mail. I am very happy to receive it. How are you?
What are you doing these day?
I had a two-day holiday with my friends in Cua Lo Beach last week. It was very
interesting. Cua Lo Beach is 300 kms far from Ha Noi and it took us 6 hours to go by car.
We stayed in Cua Lo Hotel. It took us three minutes to walk to a very beautiful beach
and the hotel was excellent.
In the first morning, we went to the beach, played football, swam and took a lot of
photos. In the afternoon, we hired bicycles to go around the place. In the evening, we held a
party near the beach. We danced and had seafood, cakes, beer, and coca.
In the next morning, we got up early to watch the sunrise and swam. It was very nice.
Some of us went along the beach, collected shells and some others lay on the beach. After that
we came back to the hotel to have breakfast. After breakfast, we went to the market to buy
some seafood such as crabs, shells, fish, etc. as a gift for family and then we had lunch in Cua
Lo Restaurant. During the meal, we had many jokes. We even made a poem by ourselves. In
the afternoon, we came back to Ha Noi by car. Everyone was tired but very happy.
I hope that you will have a chance to visit Viet Nam, then we will have a trip to Nha
Trang which is considered as a pearl in Viet Nam.

Could you give me some advice? I want to travel around your country for a
month. Where should I go? What should I see?

It is great to receive your letter. I'm very happy to know that you plan to go to my
country for a month. I'm writing to tell you where you should go and what you to should see.
As you know, Viet Nam is a very beautiful place for everyone to visit.
The first place you should visit is Halong Bay. It is one of the world wonders. It is regarded as
the most beautiful site in our country.
You should also visit Dalat. It’s a fascinating city in the mountain with Xuan Huong
Lake, Cam Ly Waterfall, etc. and there are a lot of farms with different kinds of colorful
flowers. Cam Ly Waterfall is an interesting place with cliffs like pictures. It’s wonderful to
walk around Xuan Huong Lake and enjoy the fresh air in the morning.
The next place you should visit is Nha Trang. It is interesting to go swimming in the
clear clean sea water, watch the sunrise, sit or lie in the sun, walk a long the beach in the early
morning. It’s very nice to visit Vinpearl Island, Bao Dai Villa, Long Son Pagoda, etc. and the
local specialities are very wonderful.
There are many other attractive places for you to visit in my country.
I hope you will come to Viet Nam soon and we'll spend time together in those places.

I’ve always wanted to know more about your favourite sport. Tell me about it.
Why do you like it?

I am very happy to receive your letter. How are you? What are you doing these day?
As you know, I love sports very much. I was born and grew up in a village near the
sea. When I was a school boy, I went swimming or played football or volleyball with friends
every afternoon. Actually swimming is my favourite sport.
Now I'm an engineer. I live and work in Ha Noi. Although I’m vevy busy with my
work, I usually go swimming with friends at the weekends and we sometimes go to the sea
with swimming equipments. Swimming always makes me happy and relax.
I also play tennis every Thursday and Saturday afternoon. For me, sports are very
wonderful. I feel comfortable after playing sports and they also keep me fit and healthy.
Do you like sports? What’s your favourite one?

I have already seen some fantastic films, too. I like movies the best. I often watch TV

I like films about social psychology and family relationships. They help people to
become closer and understand each other better. Those films also make our life better. I
especially like movies about love between young people because love is gentle and romantic.
In addition, I usually feel happy and comfortable after watching a film about love.
The film I like most is "The Autumn in my heart". The music of the film is very
beautiful. The actresses and actors in the film are very lovely, young, beautiful and handsome.
I felt touched and sometimes I cried while watching the film.
What kind of films do you like watching?

As you know, English is an international language and it is necessary for my job and
my life.
I like learning English. I have been learning English for a year. I go to my English
class on Saturdays. My class begins at 8:00 a.m. and finishes at 5:00 p.m.
Our teacher is a good person. She is a young teacher. She is also an experienced
teacher. She teaches me how to speak, to listen, to read and to write in English. She tries to
help me to become a good English speaker. She smiles a lot.
There are 20 students in my English class, 16 men and 4 women. We come from
different provinces. However, we usually contact with each other after class. I think my
English is getting better and better. I really like my English class very much.
I hope I can use English well in my job after I finish the course.

As you know, I'm a young engineer and I’m vevy busy with my work and further
study so I often eat out with my family or friends after hard work.
My favorite restaurant is Cauam Restaurant in Ha Dong City. Now, Cauam Restaurant
is more modern than it was. It’s a beautiful place with good new equipments. I feel
comfortable there.
We often come there on special occasions. There is plenty of good food in Cauam
Restaurant and their speciality is fried chicken.
I like this restaurant because of its various dishes, the beautiful view, the good service
and the reasonable prices. Also, there is a large parking lot where I can park my car easily.
I hope I can invite you to Cauam Restaurant when you come to Viet Nam.

I've just seen a brilliant programme about dolphins on television. Which
programmes have you enjoyed recently? Tell me about one of the programme.

I was very happy to receive your letter. How are you? What are you doing these day?
I have just seen a brilliant program about sharks on VTV1 channel. I like watching
TV, but I am very busy with a new project at the moment, so I don't have much time to enjoy
it. However, I always watch the news, especially the news in the morning from 6:00AM to
6:45AM on VTV1 channel.
Watching the news is one of my habit. It helps me to know what is happening in our
country and the world. I also like watching the weather forecast program at the end of the
news. I think it is very important to know what the weather is like every day so that I can
know what clothes to put on and whether I have to bring a raincoat to work.
I also like the sports coverage after the weather forecast. It's really lively with the new
sports events in Viet Nam and in the world. That 's all for now.

I was very happy to receive your letter. How are you? What are you doing these day?
As you know, I have just moved to a new house in the city. It’s a nice small house
with 3 floors. There is a beautiful garden at the front of the house. The sitting room is on the
ground floor. The kitchen is on the first floor and the bedroom is on the second floor. There is
a toilet on each floor.
In the sitting room there is a sofa, a table, a TV and 4 chairs. There is also a standing
fan and a clock on the wall. In my kitchen there is a cooker, a fridge, a basin with a tap, a
ceiling fan, a dinning table and there are six chairs and some cupboards.
In the bedroom, there is a bed, a wardrobe, a table and two chairs. There is a beautiful
lamp next to my bed and there are some pictures on the wall.
We grow various types of flowers and vegetables in the garden so it looks colorful and
interesting.
My house is very nice and I love it very much. I feel very cosy in the house. I hope you
will visit my house someday.

I was very glad to receive your greeting card yesterday. I think that you had a great
Christmas and New Year Holiday with your family. How are you? What are you doing these
day?
There are many traditional festivals in my country. One of the most important festivals
in Vietnam is the New Year. In my country people welcome the New Year in special ways.
This festival is called Tet Holiday in Vietnam. For this special holiday, all families have
Chung cakes, kumquat trees, peach flowers and some other food such as dried fruit, sweets,
beef, chicken, fish, oranges, coconut, grapefruit and seasonal fruit.
Tet Holiday is the time for family members to see each other. We are very happy to get
together. Everyone come back home with joy and happiness. I am very happy to meet my
brother. He is a policeman and he always goes on business.
On Tet Holiday, everyone wears new clothes, have various delicious food, visit
pagodas, relatives, friends and exchange best wishes to each other. Children get lucky money
in red envelopes from grandparents, parents and the others. People think that this money
brings the children good luck and happiness.
I love Tet Holiday very much. It is very special to me. I am very happy on this
occasion. I hope you will come to Viet Nam to enjoy Vietnamese New Year.
