This is the power point presentation that was given by Adam Sutherland, Director of Grizedale Arts, at the Crafts Council Craft Rally in April 2010. The Craft Rally was developed and delivered by the Crafts Council, Yorkshire Artspace and Artquest and is part of the Crafts Council Collective programme.

Este trabajo presenta un análisis detallado sobre los desafíos que enfrentan las sociedades latinoamericanas de inicios del siglo XXI, respecto del reconocimiento de nuevas ciudadanías emergentes a la luz de la ratificación de la lectura como derecho. En un primer momento, se explícita un análisis en torno al desarrollo de las ciudadanias latinoamericanas y sus efectos en la reducción de la exclusión y la desigualdades en el acceso a prácticas culturales, parimoniales y lectoras. Es importante destacar que los desafios de la lectura desde una perspectiva inclusiva no redundan en las personas con necesidades educativas especiales o en situación de discapacidad. Más bien, se comprende la inclusión como un movimiento de refoma de todos los campos del desarrollo ciudadano. En un segundo momento, se comenta la necesidad de modernizar las bases teóricas y metodológicas de la educación inclusiva, enfatizando en la emergencia de nuevas identidades cada vez más dinámicas y descentradas, que dan cuenta de ciudadanías en disputas, en tanto ejericio de su derecho a la cultura, las artes, la lectura y la información. En un tercer momento, se analizan los sentidos de la democracia lectora y sus desafíos en torno a la facilitación del discurso escrito. Finalmente, visualiza el rol de la animación, fomento y mediación a la lectura desde los argumentos enunciados anteriormente.

¿Qué ideas nos permiten acceder a una comprensión directa entre cerebro y educación?, el estudio del cerebro humano ha revolucionado las ciencias de la educación en todos sus campos. Hoy atendemos a un auge de la palabra neuro, al parecer no sólo esta tendría aplicaciones en las ciencias de educación sino que se estaría diversificando a otros dominios del saber tales como: la economía, el marketing, la estética, entre otros. Antes de comenzar es importante señalar que nuestro cerebro trabaja a partir de dos dimensiones de gran importancia en la consolidación de aprendizajes efectivos y significativos, estos son: a) la dimensión de dominio y b) la dimensión de modularidad.
