Intelleo is an international R&D project funded by European Commission (FP7 ICT programme, Technology-Enhanced Learning) Three business cases: Large company (VW) + Research institute (ATB) Small global company (INI) + University (Belgrade) Teachers’ association + University (Tallinn) Goal: validated theoretical model and software tools which support cross-boundary learning & knowledge building activities, improving organisational responsiveness Intelleo project

Context: University + Association of Teachers Research problem: low responsiveness and minimal cross-boundary knowledge building Research questions:  Which aspects should be considered while developing the theoretical framework for supporting organisational responsiveness in such context? What are the the main design requirements for a Web-based portfolio environment that should support individual and collaborative knowledge building within extended organization? Which motivational factors can affect implementation of IntelLEO theoretical framework and Web-based portfolio in such extended organization? Research problem
BC3: Association of Teachers Estonian Association of Professional Teachers: re-established 20 years ago Umbrella organisation for subject-oriented associations of teachers Partner for Ministry of Education and universities which train future teachers Teacher’s competence model should provide a common ground, but it does not: professional qualification standard for teachers is not used by teachers, universities or educational authorities Existing tools for teachers: Koolielu.ee portal, LeMill.net portal, blogs and Web sites of subject teacher communities, online learning environments …
Teachers and teacher trainers involved as co-researchers Group interviews, concept mapping Participatory design sessions Designing prototypes of new Intelleo semantic Web tools, which support cross-border knowledge building Incremental and cyclic prototyping: paper prototypes, HTML mockups, early prototypes … Action/design research
The first prototypes of Intelleo Web tools are ready to be tested by target groups in all three business cases: Ontology service Human Resource Discovery service Working Group Composition service User Monitoring and Collaboration Tracing service Knowledge Objects service Learning Path Creator service Organisational Policy service Results so far
Integrating Intelleo services with existing Web tools used by teachers Piloting new cross-border knowledge building methods in the context of school practice, induction year, in-service teacher training, teacher accreditation and development of new professional qualification standard for teachers The next steps
