how does it feel being selected as one of the BBC young and
upcoming artists of 2023. 18 and already fulfilling your
lives dreams.
SLIMZ
Yh yeah it's Certi styll, obviously I
often feel as though me and my people
aren't particularly seen as man who
have something to say
so what changes if you win
SLIMZ
Well obviously I haven't given much
thought it into the subject matter.
The thing is, certain man be chasin
paper, nah brother I'm jokin. (He
chuckles) but me you know, to have
your art on show for the world like
that. It's different man, when people
get it, when they see my vision and
see what i see pfft. Theres nothing
like it. but there is fools out there
you know, as a fellow member you want
to have faith in society, but when i
paint them these messages clear as day
they don't get it.
What draws you to creating art
SPIKE

hands. But nah creating art is taking
in reality, and reflecting upon it.
Like a mirror. And a mirror is used
for examining yourself. Examining your
self is examining your life. And the
unexamined life, pfft it's not worth
living. Socrates said that, and in his
final moments as well. I think what
that shows is certain man, through
adversity, show power. highly rated.
SPIKE
I thinks art, especially in an age we
live in where we're spoilt for choice,
its often now strapped down to the
basics, of 'how does this make you
feel' and not how does it make you act
and the effect it has on your minds
eye. If i look at a piece, read a
poem, listen to a melody, and I don'
feel inebriated. It' not art. It never
was art. It never will be art. It
shouldn't slightly alter my current
mood, it should change me as a person.
You are the art you digest. And create
the art you excrete. My art is a
collective, it is not the physical
piece but a triad of dialogue. My most
recent, I believe you've seen it,
