Hello Everyone, we will be going over both the pros and cons of using social media as a marketing tool. So without further ado lets move on.
On today’s agenda, I would like to cover how social media began. Leading up to the current landscape of social media in business use. Hopefully then we will have gained some knowledge, which will help us discuss he pros and cons of social media marketing.
In 1997, blogging first began. I was too young to know about it, so I don’t know exactly what that was like. When Google became a major search engine. Almost everyone uses Google on a daily basis now. Myspace launched in 2003, and in my opinion, was the first, most widely used social media. In 2004, Facebook was introduced for Harvard students. It has now become a global social media, popular among all age groups.
Just in the last year, the time spent on social media has increased 32.7B minutes. For those of you bad at math, that’s 545 million hours. Now that’s a lot of time!
The way customers communicate with their service providers has even changed. Social care is becoming more widely used by social media users. It was recently stated that on average, 47% of social media users participate in social care, which means that social media may become the preferred way for customers to communicate with their providers.
In conclusion, I’d like to talk about a few things. First would have to be the evidence of the popularity that social media has gained, with drastic increases in the recent studies showing us that the consumer population intends to continue, and possibly become more enveloped in the opportunities that social media presents. Next will be how social care affects how we interact with our customers. I believe that we need to meet the customer where they want to be met. Social media presents a huge opportunity to become more well-known and to further our reach to different parts of the world. Last, I believe our customers expect us to make this decision. They want us to have an app. They want us to become more easily accessible. The phrase I’d like to use is quality, convenience, accessibility.
