The document discusses how the creator attracted and addressed their audience for a film they created. They created a poster with the film title, age rating, and information that it was based on true events from 1999 to attract their target teenage audience as well as others interested in biographical films. The poster depicted a hooded figure with a gun outside a school to create intrigue. To address the audience, the film used conventions of the thriller genre like an eerie soundtrack to draw the audience in and keep them engaged. Characters were slowly introduced, only showing the main character briefly to avoid giving too much away. Costumes, language, and music were used to convey the biographical thriller genre.
2. • To attract my audience, I create a poster to
advertise the film that I have made. The
poster showed the name of my film and the
age rating to give a bit of information about
it. I also mentioned that it was based on true
events. Although my main audience is
teenagers, I think there is a secondary
audience of an older generation who are into
their biographical films or are interested in
that the film is about true events that took
place in 1999.
• I felt by doing a poster, it would attract my
audience as posters can be shown
anywhere, and so will reach a broad
audience, even though my film is primarily
targeted at teenagers. It shows a hooded
figure with a gun outside a school, creating a
sense of mystery – which is what people like
to watch.
3. • To address my audience I used key conventions of a thriller such as an eerie
non-diegetic soundtrack. This drew the audience into my media product and
kept them on the edge of their seat, as they would then expect something
dramatic.
• We slowly showed the audience the characters that featured in our film, but
only showed Dylan, for a bit as we didn’t want to give too much away about
him. We did, however, get him to say some of his thoughts as I felt this would
be a good way to ease the audience into the narrative and storyline of our
media product.
• Our genre is bio-graphical/thriller so we’ve shown that through the language,
costumes and music - which all connote to these genres.
