2. How did you use new media technologies in the construction
and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Throughout the filming and editing process of my music video, there were a number
of media technologies that I used in order to get the effect that I wanted.
For planning, me and my group used Email and Facebook messenger. Facebook
messenger was very helpful as it offered instead chat with each other all in one place
which made everything a lot less complicated and more organized.
For construction and research I used a wide ranger of different sites, soft wears and
tools such as Blogger, Facebook audience surveys, Slide share, Camera, Survey
monkey, Photoshop, InDesign and Final cut pro.
3. Blogger
Blogger has been such an essential
part of how I document my work.
Blogger allows me to embed work
from other sites such as Scribed and
Slide share. It also helps me stay
organized and on top of my tasks by
helping me know what I've already
posted.
4. Facebook Surveys
Facebook surveys helped me and my group when it came to audience research, it is
quick and easy to use and its also on one of the worlds most used social networking
sites. This survey app allowed me to get information that helped me better understand
my target audience.
5. Slide share
Slide share allowed me to
organize my work and then
directly embed it onto my blog.
6. Survey Monkey
I used Survey Monkey to create surveys that I could share with a number of people
through emails and social networking sites. This was also essential for audience
research, I was able to receive some very interesting and helpful feedback which me
and my group would then consider when making changes to our work.
7. Camera, Lights and mist machine
For the camera, me and my group used the Cannon DSLR to film our music video but to also
take pictures in high quality for our Digi pack and magazine poster. It has a 5x zoom which
came in really handy and it had the option to manual focus the lends which also gave me
and my group more freedom when filming. The lights and mist machine we used I got from
a film school they allowed us to hire them when I told them we were making a project for
school. This was a very important element as the combination of the two gave up some
great shots that really referenced the 80's as this style of film music videos was popular
back then.
8. Photoshop
Photo shop was a very helpful tool when it came to making our Digi pack and
magazine cover and it gave me and my group a lot of creative freedom to add effect
and fonts types to really help us express and reference the genre of music that we
chose. It was challenging at first to learn but after watching some tutorials on
YouTube, we got the hang of it and were up and running.
9. InDesign
InDesign was very important in terms
of producing our Digi pack format and
advertisement. We mainly used it to
place our Photo shopped images into
the templates which we created for the
Digi pack and our magazine advert. We
used layering and typography in order
to combine all the images to create a
finished product.
10. Final Cut pro
Final cut pro is an editing soft wear that me and my group used to edit our music
video. It offers a wide ranges of tools ad effects which came very handy to us, one of
which was allowing us to add in the music of 'Eye of the Tiger' over the shots, another
was allowing us to add filters to the images, this was very useful as some of our shots
were in black and white. Final cut pro also offered some effects that helped us
replicate news footage as our opening shot news highlights.
