10. Why Twitter?
First, a person need not be in a group or needed
to join a group before she can interact.
Second, it has a universal nature. Anything a
person decides to say or to announce in Twitter
may be heard by everyone through the use of a
simple hashtag.
Third, it is able to address alienation among
strangers by bringing a modern day method of
collegial online interfacing— brief statement,
credibility of information, and silent listening of
the personal sentiments posted loudly in different
ways.

– Jack Dorsey
Introduce myself as a person coming from the Information Management. My presentation this afternoon hopes to give insight how Twitter as a technology can be used in any language learning situation.
If not, so why are you here?
Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone and Evan Williams were the founders of Twitter. Noah Glass gave the name Twitter.
Or why focus on TwitterFirst – it is very different from the usual virtual communities; it is not a community.Second it has a universality characteristic. With the use of a hashtag, any statement or text can be read locally and globally. If it is English, it can be understood anywhere in the world.Third– it is a friendly way of talking to strangers without alienation through short or brief statement, sharing information and content, and just sensing, reading (or silently listening) to the what is posted by the other people, whether in loud or polite ways.
a descriptive study that attempts to determine the various ways Twitter is used; looked into baseline data– is it pervasive, persuasive or pervasive
It is only 99%.
In this question, I wanted to determine what are the criteria used by the persons in Twitter in selecting a person to follow and why(Read the question.)
In terms of gratification, “fun” reason fell a little short compared to reasons such as --- a. convenient mechanism of interaction, 36; b. tool for self-expression, 33; and c. extension of my thoughts, 30.
Emmanuel Levinas, a Lithuanian Jewish philosopher, posited that individuals by default are already always in social relations. Such instances drive individuals to their desire and enjoyment. Such gratifying situation is of human transcendental nature. Individuals can inhabit overlapping worlds, ONLINE OR OFFLINE, if the experience tend to conform or favor their decisiveness. This idea of a person being in a setting that favors the sways of her desires and decisiveness can lead to constructive human engagement —from simple expression of sentiments to sharing information or even exchanging ideas and opinions. This is what Twitter has been doing, it is a platform of a modern day, distance situated but constructive and reformist human affair.
Twitter is ideal to build professional networks— as subscribers prioritize those with expertise and the pieces of information shared by the experts.“Thinking” thoughts – as triggers for conversations, ideas and information or maybe knowledge exchange.New culture of reciprocity!---Getting valuable information; connecting to experts; surprise expressions out of intelligent thoughts; having an effect or influence to another person.TWITTER is for the modern online tribe– where people chase each other for constructive reasons; where people tend to be cordial and sincere; and there is strong synergy or exchange of thoughtsA tribe is viewed, historically or developmentally, as a social group existing or developing in a particular setting.Twitter brings a form of kinship which is web of social relationships that form an important part of the lives of most people who go online.
So what do you think? It is a persuasive technology designed to change attitudes or behaviors of the users through social influence, thinking kinships, and a gratifying social situations. It possesses all the essential elements of a persuasive technology– the individuals as social actors, the tools to link and interface in a web fashion and serves as the media that enables causal relationships.
