2. I am from Horace, ND which is about 10 miles
out of West Fargo
 Inmy free time I enjoy spending time with
my family and friends
I have a 7 month old son and a 3 year old
beagle

3. Iam a senior at MSUM studying Elementary
Education with an emphasis in pre primary
education
I love children
I also enjoy school
Iam looking forward to this class and getting
to know all of you!

 The majority are among the illiterate and
poor
 Many are still affected by customary laws
and practices
 Women have fewer privileges then men in
areas concerning
families, divorce, marriage, and succession.

5.  The four systems of marriage used include
1. Customary Law
2. Moslem Law
3. Hindu Law
4. Civil Law
 The only two that recognize monogamous
marriages are civil and Hindu Law
 Some young girls are still married at the age of 6
and up
 As long as a wife is in a monogamous relationship
with her husband she can ask for a divorce, if
not the husband has to demand it.

6.  There are severe health risk associated with
girls who marry young as well as their
offspring.
 Fewer women qualify for health insurance
than men
 There are not enough doctors to give
prescriptions for family planning
methods, but they are not prohibited in the
country
 If women want to be sterilized they must get
their husbands consent. Husbands can also
tell women to get sterilized.

7.  Women represent a low percentage of the
work force due to the following:
1. lack of equal education
2. training skills
3. cultural attitudes
4. family obligations
