25. Conclusion
Social forestry which is an appealing land-use
strategy by local poor landless community has
been in practice in Bangladesh for more than
twenty years. It has become a highly attractive
and acceptable programme to the rural people,
especially the landless and small farmers. In this
regard, TMSS has taken several initiatives for the
development of social forestry, but it is not
sufficient. Government should come forward for
the improvement of rural people through social
forestry in collaboration with TMSS.
