2) In Tunisia and Egypt, social networks like Facebook and Twitter helped spread photos and videos of protests despite censorship and allowed opposition leaders to communicate. This mobilized greater participation and international support for the uprisings.
3) While social media enabled organization and awareness, many argue that longstanding political and economic grievances were the true drivers of the uprisings. Technology amplified dissent that was already growing due to conditions in the Arab world.
