It all started when I was just a little kid. I began learning how to speak and use our language. I

When I was eleven years old, I was asked to be interviewed on camera about golf. I was very nervous
and I honestly did not want to do it. I did the interview anyway and it was a very embarrassing
experience for me. The interviewer told me to answer in complete sentences because the
audience wouldn't hear him ask the question. He asked me the first question, "Why do you like to

As a young girl, I was an avid reader who hated writing. I viewed writing as a chore which only

Writing, it has it's good, and it's bad. Regardless of who you are however, you have had an
experience with it. College, High School, Middle School, etc. We all have written something at

I began writing songs about a year ago. The drive really came out of nowhere I wasn't in a very

In writing outlining gives the time to think of a "plan of action". Outlining is the act of

I find that I tend to ramble or go off topic in my writing, but after outlining I can see where every

to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays,
and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in
my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to
do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex
education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will
have to make sure I do an excellent job on and collect accurate information and statistics so that I
can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so

Literacy Narrative: My Reading and Writing Experience over the Years
I have never been the type of student who enjoyed reading or writing. I have always found it
difficult to express myself by writing narratives, book reports, and any other required assignment. I
am far more skilled at speaking or verbal expression in general as I have found over the years that
people tend to misunderstand my point if it is written.
When I sit to write, I have to think about what I want to say. This is not easy for me as I tend to
think about several things at once. Clearing my mind and focusing on the writing task is a challenge
in itself. I do not consider myself a strong writer and find it intimidating especially when I know it
will be critiqued. The sense of failure when seeing the paper I worked so hard on look like the
newest local headline of a recent murder is disheartening for me. I assume I am being overly
critical of myself but those feelings seem to be redeemed when I look over the aftermath of what
was my wonderful work of mental art.
The irony of all of this is I write many different things in my current job. One any given day I draft
contracts, amendments, and addendums to name a few. I have learned a great deal from my bosses
and mentors which has made me a better writer and more aware of my grammar and proofreading

I learned how to write when I was six years old. I was a very smart, curies and happy child. Being
very interesting in new things made me practice writing and reading over and over again.

My Experience In English Writing
English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to
advance their knowledge. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has
created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why
English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in
America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take
advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English

I believe that writing is not only something that I am taught in school by structure, but also
something that can be done freely. In my eighteen years, I have found that writing can be an out for
me to express my feelings when words cannot always be spoken. For me, writing can be the only

My classmates and I were asked to write a persuasive essay convincing our audience to do or
believe something. We had just completed the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.)
program so my first idea was to write about something pertaining to that. I chose to write a letter
to my mom in hopes of persuading her to stop smoking. I had already tried telling my mom she
should not smoke, and express my feelings of negativity towards her habit; nothing seemed to
work. I sat down one evening began writing, and it took me days to get all of my thoughts onto

deeper and emotional than that. I believe writing is unlike anything else in the way it can help one
