National History Day in Delaware Judges Orientation

  1. This is your chance to put them at ease, smile – they will be nervous. Try to make them un-nervous! This is an important student/professional exchange and interaction
  2. Positive and constructive, most entries will be eliminated, do not lecture, be careful of phrasing, write comments as you go – don’t wait until the end of the day! This is an education program, not a contest! The contest is the motivator at the end, but not the point. Your job is to be educators and “experts.” You must give positive comments. This is critical because most will not win an award! Only (how many?) our of (how many) kids? will win anything.
