2. Genre and Target
Audience Drama/Thriller: At first it will not be obvious that this is the genre but after she
is kicked out of the office by the security guards it will then become clear.
Young adults/adults
3. Setting (place and time of
day) London – During the day
Woman gets off of tube, walks past Buckingham palace, down Oxford
Street?
Walks into office (spinning doors) and security guards ask who she is
View her from everyone else’s perspective and she looks homless
Themes and
IconsWoman being portrayed as important and then
crazy.
4. Narrative
It would begin with the woman getting off of a tube, presumably as if she is
going to work. The camera will then follow the woman’s journey to work as she
walks past idyllic London landmarks.
She will then be seen going into an office
The woman will then be greeted by two security guards who say ‘not you
again’.
This will leave questions in peoples minds such as why is she going to an office
dressed as if she should work there only to be told to leave by two security
guards who seem to be familiar with her?
If the film were to continue it would become clear that this woman did used to
work at this office and then was victimised by the owner of the company.
Based on Propp’s Character Theory:
Hero – Eventually the businesswoman
Villain – Owner of the office
Helper – A previous victim?
5. Character Profiles
Business Woman:
- Dressed smartly with a briefcase
- Hair in a bun
- Red lipstick
- Heels
She believes she is an important businesswoman but its not until we can see
her from everyone else’s point of view that she appears to be homeless.
Security guards needed to question her: ‘Not her again, please leave the
premises immediately or we will call the police.’
6. Textual Analysis
Camera: Long shots and mid shots at the beginning. Tracking shots.
Costume: Smart business wear and then dirty clothing.
Sound: Dialogue right at the end but mostly music, quite happy.
Editing: Will mostly be straight cuts with a few wipe transitions possibly. Titles
will be on top/over idyllic London places/landmarks, e.g. Buckingham
Palace.
Effects: I don’t think many special effects will be used as it is supposed to be
realistic.
7. Representations
The lady will first been presented as a middle-class respectable
businesswoman, perhaps in her late twenties. She would be someone that
people in society would look up to and aspire to become.
After we see how everyone else views her we learn that she is not who she
thinks she is, or who the audience first though she was. The quick change
from a smart businesswoman to a woman who is dressed in dirty clothes will
be a good example of how quickly the audiences perception of a person
can change.
8. Institutions
This is a table showing institutions and the types of films that they made.
Based on this table Paramount, Sony and Universal would be the
institutions that would most likely produce/distribute a film of this nature.
Advertising techniques would include the normal methods of TV adverts,
billboards with pictures (perhaps a picture of the woman how she thinks
she is next to the woman who she actually is).
9. Mood board of Similar
Films This is similar to my idea to a
certain extent as it is about
a loss of identity and the
man (Neeson) believing
that he is someone who
nobody else seems to think
he is.
