4. Beekeeping sector specific limitations in Volcanoes area
• Farmers more recipients than markets key players
• Coops remain dependent on slow and inconsistent local
sales
• Low Production : only 4,050 Tons harvested annually .
The total demand is about 13,800 Tons per year ( Source
: MINAGRI)
• High cost of inputs, which affect competiveness (
beekeeping equipment and honey packaging material
that are imported)
• Donor’s funding opportunities to support the beekeeping
program
