Virgen del Pasico School is a partner in an Erasmus+ school-to-school project in which
pupils and teachers will learn about how to use metacognitive strategies in the teaching-
learning process and help all of them to improve in their tasks.
The fifth meeting in Rauma, Finland
We met in Rauma, Finland from 26th
January to 1st
February 2019.
We were the coordinator from each partner country and an accompanying teacher and 4 or
five students, we were from Denmark, Greece, Spain and Sweden.
Saturday was the arrival day and students went to their hosts’ houses and spent Sunday
morning with them and their families. Teachers went to the hotel and on Sunday morning we
visited the town centre and Old Rauma.
Project activities.
On Sunday afternoon we all met in nature to start with the first group task: Mindfulness and
silent walk. Students started to know each other and work in groups. Then we all have some
food and went to sauna and ice-swimming in the lake to cope with stress. It was quite an
experience for everybody.
On Monday we met at school, students from the visiting countries introduced themselves
and their country, town and school. Then they started working on their groups on the topic
Sleep, Nutrition and Sport; they created posters. In the afternoon we went ice skating in the
stadium.
2. On Tuesday we experienced nature and Finnish culture; students worked on the third group
task: everyman’s rights and responsibilities hiking in the woods in Ryssankallio with a stop
for eating and drinking by the fire, and in the afternoon practicing some outdoor activities in
Lähdepelto such as skiing, ice skating, sledge slide,…
On Wednesday the topic was Recycling and becoming a responsible adult. We visited
Hevossuo waste management site, after that we went back to school and students worked
on the fourth group task creating a video about recycling and the fifth task: SMART +
learning diary.
On Thursday morning students continued working on the presentation about all the activities
done to be given in the afternoon on the farewell party with sauna and ice-swimming in the
sea.
3. Cultural activities.
We also had time to visit the center of Rauma and had dinner all together in different
restaurants in town, when we could socialize and get to know each other better.
On Friday we had the chance have a walk and visit the historical center of Helsinki.
It was a great experience and we are looking forward to the next meeting in Sweden.
