5. Tuesday, September 14, 2021
Divine Byzantine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom
presided over by the Holy Father
in the square of the Mestská športová hala in Prešov
6. If we stop to look at the
Crucifix and do not open
our hearts to him, if we
do not let ourselves be
amazed by his wounds,
opened for us, if our
hearts do not swell with
emotion and we do not
cry before God wounded
by love for us…
7. How many generous people have suffered
and died here in Slovakia for the name of Jesus!
8. “he sees no one as an enemy, but everyone as
brothers and sisters for whom Jesus gave his life”
9. “he knows that Christ's love is fruitful in everyday life
and makes all things new from within, like a seed that
has fallen to the ground, which dies and produces fruit”.
10. Keep fond memories of people who nursed you and raised you in the faith;
humble and simple people, who gave their lives by loving to the end. They are
our heroes, the heroes of everyday life, and it is their lives that change history
11.
12. 16:00 Meeting with the Rom gypsy community
in the Luník IX district in Košice
13. “This is the Church, a family of brothers and sisters
with the same Father, who gave us Jesus as a brother,
so that we may understand how much He loves fraternity”.
14. “recognize that each carries within himself the irrepressible
beauty of a child of God, in which the Creator is reflected”.
15. Go forward on
this path, and do
not delude yourself
that you can give
everything
immediately,
for it is prophetic.
It includes the lowliest,
builds fraternity,
and sows peace.
16. “Integration is the way for peaceful coexistence. It is an organic
and slow process. It is a vital process, which starts from mutual
knowledge, and perseveres patiently looking toward the future”.
19. Love does not mean having everything immediately.
It does not favour a logic of disposing of all things.
Love is fidelity, generosity, responsibility.
20. God wants us firmly planted on the ground, connected to life;
never closed, but always open to everyone! Rooted and open.
21. in great stories there are always two ingredients:
one is love, the other is adventure, heroism
22. Do you dream without fear of forming a family, of generating and
educating children, of spending a life sharing everything with another
person, without being ashamed of your frailties, because there is he or
she who welcomes and loves them, who loves you as you are.
23. Being ashamed in life is sometimes good for you. If you are ashamed,
it means that you do not accept what you have done
24. Dear young people, dear young people, I wish you this joy, stronger
than anything. I wish you to take it to your friends. Not sermons,
but joy. Bring joy! Not words, but smiles, and fraternal closeness
25. We are not made to keep our face on the ground,
but to raise our gaze to Heaven, to others, to society.
26.
27. Wednesday, September 15, 2021
9:10 Moment of prayer with the Bishops at the National Shrine of Šaštin
28. Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows,
we are gathered here before you as
brothers, grateful to the Lord for His
merciful love. And you are here with us,
as with the Apostles in the Upper Room.
Mother of the Church and Comforter of
the afflicted, we turn to you with
confidence, in the joys and labors of our
ministry. Look at us with tenderness and
welcome us in your arms. Queen of the
Apostles and Refuge of sinners, who know
our human limitations, spiritual failures,
the pain of loneliness and abandonment:
heal our wounds with your sweetness.
Mother of God and our Mother, we
entrust to you our life and our homeland,
we entrust to you our own episcopal
communion. Obtain for us the grace
to live with daily fidelity the words that
your Son Jesus taught us and that now,
in him and with him, we address
to God our Father.
29. 10:00 Holy Mass in the esplanade
of the National Shrine of Šaštin
30. In this National Shrine of Šaštín, the Slovak people
come, with faith and devotion, because they
know that it is she who gives us Jesus.
31. As the Immaculate Virgin, Mary is an icon of our vocation:
like her, we are called to be holy and immaculate in love
(cf. Eph 1: 4), becoming the image of Christ.
32. “Don't stop”, for when the Church stops, it gets sick;
when the bishops stop, they make the Church sick;
when the priests stop, they make God's people sick.
33. “that he may become resurrection for me, He who
always raises me, who takes me by the hand
and makes me start over. He always lifts me up..
34. “to be "signs of contradiction" in the world. Christians who
know how to show, with their life, the beauty of the Gospel”
35. “Though your face may be marked by tears, keep believing
that the Son God transforms pain and overcomes death”
36. DURING THE RETURN FLIGHT FROM BRATISLAVA - Wednesday, Sept 15, 2021
“It is true that some interests, perhaps non-European ones, try to use
the European Union for ideological colonization, and this is not good.
No, the European Union must be independent in itself, and all countries
at the same level, inspired by the dream of the great founders”.
37. “in Slovakia I was amazed to see, so many children and
young couples, and this is a promise of hope for the future”.
38. God's style is closeness, compassion and tenderness .... The principles are of theology.
Pastoral implies theology and the Holy Spirit who is leading you to do things in God's style.
Enough with excommunication, please don't excommunicate anymore. Poor people,
they are children of God, they are temporarily outside, but they are children of God and they
want and need our pastoral closeness. The pastor settles things as the Spirit inspires.
39. Though homosexual couples can use it (French Pacs law),….
however marriage as a sacrament is for man and woman
40. Many people of homosexual orientation approach the sacrament of
penance and ask the priests for advice, and the Church helps them
to go on in their lifes, but the sacrament of marriage does not go.
