The Muscular System of the Human Body Essay
The muscular system is a very important part of the human body. It has many components and
functions, and is the source of the body's movement. There are roughly 650 muscles in the human
body and are different types of muscles. Muscles can either be voluntary or involuntary which
means controlled or uncontrolled movement. Muscles have many reasons and in this paper you
will widen your knowledge of muscles and their functions as well their diseases and how they help
maintain the body. There are three different types of muscles in the body, and the first to be talked
about are skeletal muscles. The body consists of about 640 skeletal muscles and they just so happen
to be the only voluntary or (controlled) muscles. Their main function is to...show more content...
For example refer to figure 1–2 of the stomach. Last but not least is the cardiac muscle, the only
place the cardiac muscle can be located is the heart. Its main function is to contract through
stimulation of other cardiac muscle within the heart which pulses the blood through the heart were
it can be distributed through the body. While blood is being pumped, hormones send signals to
your brain which is how the rate of contraction is adjusted. The most muscular part of the heart is
the middle called the myocardium which is the main contraction control part. This muscle is made
of protein fibers known as sarcomeres which are responsible for contractions. For example of cardiac
muscle refer to figure 1–3 of the heart. Muscles have three different basic types of cells, striped or
striated and then smooth. Striated muscle has grooves that show each individual cell, these cells are
extended to the length of the muscle so that they can contract and expand along with the muscle.
Sooth muscles which can be found in the digestive tract, or stomach are not made as long because
they do not need to be, they are that more similar to non muscular cells because they are smooth and
not elongated like cardiac and or striated muscle cells. Cardiac muscle is like the skeletal muscle but
shorter and are branched together which gives them a distinct characteristic and makes it easier to
pump blood throughout the heart. Even

Essay about the human brain
In this paper one will learn the different parts of the brain and their functions. Although the brain isn't
the largest organ of the human body it is the most complex and controlling organ. It is amazing how
complicated the brain is. The brain controls every action within and out of your body. The brain has
main areas that contain different areas that have specific functions. For instance the basal ganglia
holds the lentiform and the caudate.
The brain isn't just "THE BRAIN" it is actually a group of many parts. They help to inform the brain
on the things going on with the human body. The brain is split in to two main parts, the left and the
right hemisphere. The left hemisphere has about the same areas as the right hemisphere. The only

The corpus callosum is a bundle of nerves that connects the two hemispheres. The area that passes
and processes information concerning touch, pain, temperature, and pressure on skin is the
thalamus. The limbic system controls your behavior and emotions. It is involved in emotions such
as fear, rage, pleasure, and sorrow. In the prefrontal area of the frontal lobe emotional traits are
controlled. In the temporal lobe expressed behavior is controlled. The parietal lobe discriminates
sensory. The occipital lobe is where visual interpretation takes place. Pons is a crossroad for nerves
going up to the cortex, to the cerebellum and then down the spinal cord. The cortex is the outer gray
area where thinking takes place. The olfactory cortex receives senses from the nose that it then sorts
out. The area that identifies what we see by working out movements, colors, and shapes is the visual
cortex. The area that receives taste senses is called gustatory cortex. The area responsible for
analyzing data, performing memory functions, learning new information, forming thoughts, and
making decisions is the cerebral cortex. The motor cortex is involved in muscle movement. The
cerebellum is vital when carrying out complicated, skilled movements. It is much like a mini brain.
If before you read this paper you thought the brain was a "one man machine" I'm sure your opinion
has changed after reading his paper. It is amazing how god has created the brain to have so many
areas

The Respiratory System Essay
The respiratory system is the process responsible for the transportation and exchange of gases into
and out of the human body. As we breath in, oxygen in the air containing oxygen is drawn into the
lungs through a series of air pipes known as the airway and into the lungs. As air is drawn into the
lungs and waste gas excreted, it passes through the airway, first through the mouth or nose and
through the pharynx, larynx and windpipe – also known as the trachea. At this point it then enters
the lungs through the bronchi before finally reaching the air sacs known as alveoli. Within the lungs,
through a process known as diffusion, the oxygen is transferred to the blood stream through the
alveoli (air ducts) where it is then transported inside...show more content...
Within the alveoli, the oxygen is transferred to the blood whilst simultaneously collecting waste
carbon dioxide for excretion as we breath out. This transference is known as diffusion and is linked
to the cardiovascular system.
Diffusion is an automated process by where the levels of oxygen, water and carbon dioxide pass
over a 'semi–permeable membrane' between the walls of the cells and blood vessels to create a level
environment. This membrane only allows these three elements to pass whilst retaining other
elements such as blood cells, hence semi–permeable. The high concentration on one side of the cells
transfers through this membrane until the level is equal on both sides.
The human body comprises of two respiratory sponges called lungs. The left lung is slightly smaller
than the right as it makes room for placement of the heart. Due to this slightly smaller size, it only
contains two lobes whereas the right lung has 3 lobes. Both lungs are host to the network of air sacs
or alveoli which transport the air from the outside environment to the external and internal respiration
processes.
As we breathe in, the muscles in the chest wall force the thoracic area, ribs and connective muscles
to contract and expand the chest. The diaphragm is contracted and moves down as the area inside
the chest increases as air enters the lungs. The lungs are forced open by this expansion and the
pressure inside the lungs becomes enough that it pulls

Body Paragraphs: Act 3-Act Structure
I had no real knowledge of the three–act structure before now. It seems very similar to how I was
taught to write an essay. Act 1– Introduction; Act 2– Body Paragraphs; Act 3– Conclusion. Thinking
back to any movies or tv shows I have watched it seems like this structure should have been very
obvious. Many of you may feel the same way. This structure makes a lot of sense for captivating
and maintaining an audience. It seems as though this would be the only way to tell a story because
it has been used for so long and any other way would be classified as boring because it is the
structure that man–kind has been using for

Body Paragraph : What Is Culture?
Body Paragraph I: What is Culture?
Culture may be defined as the learned and shared beliefs, values and life ways guide a group's
members in patterned ways of thinking and acting, are generally transmitted inter–generationally and
influence one 's thinking and action modes. Culture is often compared to a blueprint; it guides the
actions that impact caregiving, health and well being. Extending far beyond ethnicity and social
norms, culture, includes religious, socioeconomic, geographic, occupational, and sexual
orientation–related beliefs and values. Many healthcare providers believe that overcoming linguistic
barriers or having a rudimentary understanding of a few ethic practices, is enough to address the
diverse needs of the client. However, that is simply not the case.
"Cultural competence is the capacity of individuals or services to incorporate ethnic/cultural
considerations into all aspects of their work relative to health promotion, disease prevention and
other healthcare interventions" (Killian & Waite, 2009, p. 1). Acquiring skills related to culturally
competent nursing practice is important for better client outcomes, satisfaction and quality of care.
This includes studying research findings of culturally competent care in nursing practice and using
these as a basis for patient care decisions and actions. Cultural competence also includes advocating
for the resources necessary to establish quality care for the client in the healthcare setting. In order to

Body Paragraph Three Substantial Changes
Three substantial changes I made to my essay. I improved the introduction, provided more
examples of college writing and my personal experiences in my body paragraphs and fixed the
conclusion. In paragraph one, is where I made my first change the introduction was too short and
needed more detail on what I was going to discuss in the essay so it could appeal more to readers
and they can understand what I was trying to get across. Instead of only just saying my definition of
college writing, in my change I talked and went into detail about my main points. The next change
to my essay was the providing more examples in the body paragraphs. In paragraph three, I only
provided one example of college writing. In the change of my essay, I've decided

Body Paragraph Analysis
Introductory Paragraph For years, people have been debating whether schools should have extra
sporting activities. Studies have shown that children who attend after school activities have an
increasing downfall in their grades. Therefore, schools should eliminate sports to allow students
more time for their homework, help districts save money for school renovations, and prevent
students from getting overwhelmed with extra academic practice.Body Paragraph#1 Although
schools have had sports for many years, they should be putting their focus and concern towards
students academics. According to Ripley, 20 nations have betterhigh school graduation rates than
Premont high school (11). Amanda Ripley says "America lags behind many countries
academically and more than 20 nations have better high school graduation rates (10). This shows
how important academics are and how sports can easily take it away. This is important for schools
to pay attention to if they are experiencing academic failures and increasing debt.Body Paragraph
#2 Although academics are a concern, schools still need to focus on the costs of sports. According
to Ripley, concession stands rarely cover the costs for home games such as security and cleaning
crews (11)....show more content...
When Superintendent Ernest Singleton of Premont Independent School District in Premont, Texas
canceled sports, students grades went up tremendously from 50 to 80 percent (Ripley 11). A
former Premont quarterback who started playing club football on weekends said, "There was all
this extra time, you never got behind on your work" (Ripley 11). This data shows that if schools
eliminate sports, students can have additional time to increase their grades. Clearly, if schools
eliminate sports, students can have a chance to improve in any academic failures that they are

Thesis In The Introductory Paragraph
Base 1. 1.Is there a clearly stated thesis in the introductory paragraph? The thesis sentence
includes the writer's opinion of whether the writer disagrees or agrees to the argument of
Gladwell. But I think the writer needs to write three reasons for supporting the opinion in the
thesis sentence. 2.Do all the supporting paragraphs back up the thesis? The writers wrote three
paragraphs for supporting the thesis sentence. So I was able to easily read and understand the
each paragraphs. However, I think the first sentence of the first paragraph needs more detail about
why the writer disagrees with the idea of surveillance. Comment : Overall, I was able to easily read
this essay because the essay is obviously separated into 5 paragraphs, and each paragraphs...show

However, this essay needs more evidence overall. The writer may add examples of writer's
experiences or ongoing situation in this society. Also, she needs at least two more citation for
effectively finishing this argumentative essay. Base3 1.Is there a clear method of organization?
(List of items or a time order?) I could realize that this essay clearly separates paragraphs into 5
paragraphs: Introduction, three body paragraphs, conclusion. However, I was difficult to know the
main topic sentence of each paragraph. 2.Are transitions used to connect sentences and ideas? She
used diverse transitions such as "Furthermore," and "Despite the fact that," for informing about

Comment: Each paragraph does own roles in the essay. First paragraph do as the introduction, and
following three paragraphs do as body paragraphs with examples. However, I could not know
easily main topic of each body paragraphs. I think the writer need to make clear the main topics of
each paragraph for supporting her thesis

Third Body Paragraphs
I have learned a lot of things throughout this unit. When I first started this unit I didn't know how
to write a summary, analysis or a citation properly. That scared me because I am going into college
next year and I have to know these things. Now I know how to write a summary without killing it
to death. I know how to write analysis even though I make them a little bit too long at times. I also
now know how to cite a source properly. When it comes to writing about my topic (Private vs Public
Universities) I believe I have all the sources I need to write a solid research paper. If I was going to
write a solid research paper I would have my introduction stating what my body paragraphs are
going to be about and have my thesis. I would need to have little more research for a third body
paragraph....show more content...
One thing that this unit didn't change my mind about is how much I hate citations and how
annoying they are to do. The only thing I think I could have truly done better is broaden my
research a little bit more. I could have researched more about where they're mostly located, the
ratios, the statics, and the activities. The other thing I could have done is that I could have done
community college vs Public college vs Private college. This would have let me expand a lot
more and get more valuable facts about all colleges instead of just two. If I would have done that
then I could have wrote a research papers with three body paragraph about each different type of
college. I feel as in it would have been more straightforward but I'm very biased when it comes to
private or public colleges verus community because I don't believe in community college. Another
thing I learned throughout this whole unit and I will always remember this... Roland and bibme are
the worst resources to go to when learning how to do an annotated bibliography. Thank you for
taking the time to teach us the basics and getting us college ready. This truly helped me become
ready for next year in writing

Agatha Christie Body Paragraphs
This essay is effective as the organization used by the author allows the reader to easily understand
the information. The introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion are all structured properly and
create a positive reading experience.
The opening paragraphs begin with the broad topic of mystery novels and funnels into more direct
details about how Agatha Christie's characters, settings, and sense of morality makes her special.
This triangle method allows for the general information to catch the attention of the reader then give
the read more in depth details. This gives the reader an idea as to where the essay is heading.

Difference Between Sentence And Paragraphs
Sentences and paragraphs
Sentence and paragraph structures should meet the following criteria:
Sentences should not be overly long
Sentences used together in a paragraph should all deal with the same topic.
Paragraphs should have a clearly identifiable topic sentence.
Paragraphs and sentences should follow each other in a logical way.
Where support topics are used, it should still be linked to the main topic in a clear and logical manner.

Body Paragraphs
From time to time we all hear that dreadful five letter word; "essay". Even though I am sure that
we would all like to delete the word from existence, unfortunately, it will go on being an annoying
part of high school. Many students hear this word and immediately begin to worry about whether or
not they have a sufficient amount of time to write it, or if they can even write an essay good enough
to get an acceptable grade on it. They struggle with not knowing how to write an effective essay.
Most students really struggle getting across the idea that they want to tell their readers. "When I
came to write my first assignment, I cried," says Daphne Elliston (from essay writing trips you up).

Just because you have stated your thesis and have given your opinion on the subject, does not
suddenly make your opinion true. The body of your essay, which will contain your three arguments,
is what will prove what you have already stated in your thesis. The number amount of your body
might not always be three paragraphs, but the typical high school or college essay will be. Each of
your three arguments, or main ideas, will be put at the beginning of each of your paragraphs.
Write the Body Paragraphs states that you should, "Start by writing down one of your main
ideas, in sentence form. Next, write down each of your supporting points for that main idea, but
leave four or five lines in between each point. In the space under each point, write down some
elaboration for that point. If you wish, include a summary sentence for each paragraph. This is
not generally needed, however, and such sentences have a tendency to sound stilted, so be
cautious about using them. Once you have fleshed out each of your body paragraphs, one for
each main point, you are ready to continue." It is also important to keep in mind that while you
are writing your essay that you want to try your best to try to keep from writing in first or second
person. You want to try to maintain an objective voice while working and work on the paper by
using third person. If you struggle with the habit of using "I think", "I feel", or "I believe", than it
is best to look over your paper before you turn it in to make sure that you get rid of those

Analysis Of The Article ' The Body Paragraphs '
After first reviewing the article, it came to the reader's attention that Neltner was providing the
stronger argument. Neltner believed that smarter investments and stricter oversight were the key to
providing safe drinking water to the public. When speaking to the reader in the introduction, he
used a first person point of view to attract the reader's attention. For example, the word "we" was
used to make the reader feel involved in the subject. A similar method was utilized in the conclusion
to remind the reader that they were included in this discussion. In the body paragraphs, the same
method was used in a similar way. The writer deviated to third person point of view instead of first.
This was intended to cause the argument to...show more content...
He was not clear with his argument. Therefore, his redirect is lacking. Neltner leaves the reader
guessing because the concession is incomplete in the text. He does not state what needs to be
done to improve the drinking water. The redirect needs to be expressed in a better way to justify
federal funding. It is also tied to the concession which makes it come off as an ambiguous phrase.
The "why" from the concession is missing because of this. Neltner's reasoning also comes off as
a potential deceptive statistic which makes also makes it an ambiguous phrase. The reader is not
sure whether there is a mean, median, or mode because the statement is not in depth making it
appear to be deceptive. Of the two men debating this issue, Neltner is the more qualified
individual. In this text he uses himself as an expert opinion because he is a qualified individual.
This appears to exhibit a strength because he is knowledgeable in the subject. However, that is not
the case. He uses himself as the expert opinion, which causes him to not express the value in this
value assumption. Despite the fact that he knows what he is talking about, Neltner does not express
what doing enough is in this article. He talks about how the government could do more, but he does
not express what could be done. Moore's argument has more weaknesses than strengths. He starts off
by using first person point of view in the plural form to transition. But, he does not use them in the

Essay about Systems of the Human Body
The human body is very complex. It is like a job. You have to do a million things in one day to
make it through the day. The body uses nine systems to do all of those jobs. They all have separate
functions, but some work together. Each system is also made up of organs. There are many ways to
care and protect the systems from the many different problems they can have. There are also many
interesting facts about each system.
The nervous system's main function is to coordinate all of the activities in the body. The main organs
are the cerebellum, which controls and coordinates movement. The cerebrum, is the center for
conscious thought, learning, and memory. The last main organ is the brain stem. The brain stem
keeps the automatic systems...show more content...
The muscular system is a group of tough tissues that make up the body parts move and help in
maintaining posture. The main organs are tendons, smooth muscles, skeletal muscles, and cardiac
muscles. Tendons are tough tissues that connect muscle to bone. Smooth muscles are found in
different places throughout the body. You do not control these. They help indigestion. Skeletal
muscles are attached to bones. They work with the bones of the skeleton to allow you to move. It is
voluntary so you control it. Lastly is the cardiac muscles. They are found only in the walls of the
heart. It is controlled by the brain and in involuntary. They help by pumpingblood everywhere in
your body. Some problems are, a bruise, a hernia, and muscular dystrophy. You can care for your
muscular system by doing regular physical activity, have good posture, and don't forget RICE. Rest,
Ice, Compress, and Elevate.
The three main functions of the skeletal system are to provide framework, give support, and protect
organs. A joint is where two bones meet. A ligament is a strong tissue that attaches two bones
together and cartilage is soft tissue between bones that acts like a cushion. Problems can result from
accidents, bad posture, bad diet and viral infections. You can have osteoporosis, scoliosis, arthritis, a
fracture, or a sprain. You should have calcium, vitamin D, phosphorus and walk or weight train, and
also sit up straight.

My Personal Writing Style
Speaking is one of the communication methods for people to convey their ideas. On average,
people speak around 16000 words a day (Huynh). On the other hand, writing is a more formal and
concise way of communication than speaking. However, a person need to practice in order to write
well. Throughout years, its writing habit developed, writing style progressed, and writing content
varied. In this essay, I would reflect on my own writing process now, how my writing progressed
throughout three years in PRISMS, and On Writing.
Writing starts with thinking about a prompt. I think about what I want to say based on what I learn
in the novel. Planning The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn essay, for example, I noticed that Huck's
emotion descriptions...show more content...
I would read through the introduction thoroughly, especially the hook. I try my best to think of
interesting things, daily situations, or striking statistical facts related with my topic. For instance, in
The Great Gatsby essay, I used the statistic of PTSD to grab readers' attentions on the topic and
guide them to question how PTSD related with Gatsby. After the first revision, I would give myself
another day, leaving the essay alone, and make it more concise.
Writing habits do not form in days, and my writing process, quality, and style progressed. I came to
PRISMS in ninth grade, knowing nothing about writing essays. In China, I never wrote any formal
English essay. I learned the process of writing an English essay from the basics in my first essay for
To Kill a Mockingbird. Ms. Hedman, my ninth grade English teacher, guided us to brainstorm ideas,
to form thesis statements, to annotate and list out important quotations, and to use MLA format. In
tenth grade, Mr. Johnson focused on the body paragraph structure and emphasized on how to use
quotations in it. For each quotation, a sentence introduces the situation in book the quotation comes
from before the quotation, a sentence analyzing the quotation after citing the quotation, and a
sentence connecting the quotation to the topic sentence. Mr. Johnson pointed out that we should
care about how readers would feel reading the quotation and what they can get from it and wrote it
in the analysis. That is the first

Essay Body Paragraph Structure

  • 1. The Muscular System of the Human Body Essay The muscular system is a very important part of the human body. It has many components and functions, and is the source of the body's movement. There are roughly 650 muscles in the human body and are different types of muscles. Muscles can either be voluntary or involuntary which means controlled or uncontrolled movement. Muscles have many reasons and in this paper you will widen your knowledge of muscles and their functions as well their diseases and how they help maintain the body. There are three different types of muscles in the body, and the first to be talked about are skeletal muscles. The body consists of about 640 skeletal muscles and they just so happen to be the only voluntary or (controlled) muscles. Their main function is to...show more content... For example refer to figure 1–2 of the stomach. Last but not least is the cardiac muscle, the only place the cardiac muscle can be located is the heart. Its main function is to contract through stimulation of other cardiac muscle within the heart which pulses the blood through the heart were it can be distributed through the body. While blood is being pumped, hormones send signals to your brain which is how the rate of contraction is adjusted. The most muscular part of the heart is the middle called the myocardium which is the main contraction control part. This muscle is made of protein fibers known as sarcomeres which are responsible for contractions. For example of cardiac muscle refer to figure 1–3 of the heart. Muscles have three different basic types of cells, striped or striated and then smooth. Striated muscle has grooves that show each individual cell, these cells are extended to the length of the muscle so that they can contract and expand along with the muscle. Sooth muscles which can be found in the digestive tract, or stomach are not made as long because they do not need to be, they are that more similar to non muscular cells because they are smooth and not elongated like cardiac and or striated muscle cells. Cardiac muscle is like the skeletal muscle but shorter and are branched together which gives them a distinct characteristic and makes it easier to pump blood throughout the heart. • 2. Essay about the human brain In this paper one will learn the different parts of the brain and their functions. Although the brain isn't the largest organ of the human body it is the most complex and controlling organ. It is amazing how complicated the brain is. The brain controls every action within and out of your body. The brain has main areas that contain different areas that have specific functions. For instance the basal ganglia holds the lentiform and the caudate. The brain isn't just "THE BRAIN" it is actually a group of many parts. They help to inform the brain on the things going on with the human body. The brain is split in to two main parts, the left and the right hemisphere. The left hemisphere has about the same areas as the right hemisphere. The only ...show more content... The corpus callosum is a bundle of nerves that connects the two hemispheres. The area that passes and processes information concerning touch, pain, temperature, and pressure on skin is the thalamus. The limbic system controls your behavior and emotions. It is involved in emotions such as fear, rage, pleasure, and sorrow. In the prefrontal area of the frontal lobe emotional traits are controlled. In the temporal lobe expressed behavior is controlled. The parietal lobe discriminates sensory. The occipital lobe is where visual interpretation takes place. Pons is a crossroad for nerves going up to the cortex, to the cerebellum and then down the spinal cord. The cortex is the outer gray area where thinking takes place. The olfactory cortex receives senses from the nose that it then sorts out. The area that identifies what we see by working out movements, colors, and shapes is the visual cortex. The area that receives taste senses is called gustatory cortex. The area responsible for analyzing data, performing memory functions, learning new information, forming thoughts, and making decisions is the cerebral cortex. The motor cortex is involved in muscle movement. The cerebellum is vital when carrying out complicated, skilled movements. It is much like a mini brain. If before you read this paper you thought the brain was a "one man machine" I'm sure your opinion has changed after reading his paper. It is amazing how god has created the brain to have so many areas Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. The Respiratory System Essay The respiratory system is the process responsible for the transportation and exchange of gases into and out of the human body. As we breath in, oxygen in the air containing oxygen is drawn into the lungs through a series of air pipes known as the airway and into the lungs. As air is drawn into the lungs and waste gas excreted, it passes through the airway, first through the mouth or nose and through the pharynx, larynx and windpipe – also known as the trachea. At this point it then enters the lungs through the bronchi before finally reaching the air sacs known as alveoli. Within the lungs, through a process known as diffusion, the oxygen is transferred to the blood stream through the alveoli (air ducts) where it is then transported inside...show more content... Within the alveoli, the oxygen is transferred to the blood whilst simultaneously collecting waste carbon dioxide for excretion as we breath out. This transference is known as diffusion and is linked to the cardiovascular system. Diffusion is an automated process by where the levels of oxygen, water and carbon dioxide pass over a 'semi–permeable membrane' between the walls of the cells and blood vessels to create a level environment. This membrane only allows these three elements to pass whilst retaining other elements such as blood cells, hence semi–permeable. The high concentration on one side of the cells transfers through this membrane until the level is equal on both sides. The human body comprises of two respiratory sponges called lungs. The left lung is slightly smaller than the right as it makes room for placement of the heart. Due to this slightly smaller size, it only contains two lobes whereas the right lung has 3 lobes. Both lungs are host to the network of air sacs or alveoli which transport the air from the outside environment to the external and internal respiration processes. As we breathe in, the muscles in the chest wall force the thoracic area, ribs and connective muscles to contract and expand the chest. The diaphragm is contracted and moves down as the area inside the chest increases as air enters the lungs. The lungs are forced open by this expansion and the pressure inside the lungs becomes enough that it pulls Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Body Paragraphs: Act 3-Act Structure I had no real knowledge of the three–act structure before now. It seems very similar to how I was taught to write an essay. Act 1– Introduction; Act 2– Body Paragraphs; Act 3– Conclusion. Thinking back to any movies or tv shows I have watched it seems like this structure should have been very obvious. Many of you may feel the same way. This structure makes a lot of sense for captivating and maintaining an audience. It seems as though this would be the only way to tell a story because it has been used for so long and any other way would be classified as boring because it is the structure that man–kind has been using for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Body Paragraph : What Is Culture? Body Paragraph I: What is Culture? Culture may be defined as the learned and shared beliefs, values and life ways guide a group's members in patterned ways of thinking and acting, are generally transmitted inter–generationally and influence one 's thinking and action modes. Culture is often compared to a blueprint; it guides the actions that impact caregiving, health and well being. Extending far beyond ethnicity and social norms, culture, includes religious, socioeconomic, geographic, occupational, and sexual orientation–related beliefs and values. Many healthcare providers believe that overcoming linguistic barriers or having a rudimentary understanding of a few ethic practices, is enough to address the diverse needs of the client. However, that is simply not the case. "Cultural competence is the capacity of individuals or services to incorporate ethnic/cultural considerations into all aspects of their work relative to health promotion, disease prevention and other healthcare interventions" (Killian & Waite, 2009, p. 1). Acquiring skills related to culturally competent nursing practice is important for better client outcomes, satisfaction and quality of care. This includes studying research findings of culturally competent care in nursing practice and using these as a basis for patient care decisions and actions. Cultural competence also includes advocating for the resources necessary to establish quality care for the client in the healthcare setting. In order to Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 9. Body Paragraph Three Substantial Changes Three substantial changes I made to my essay. I improved the introduction, provided more examples of college writing and my personal experiences in my body paragraphs and fixed the conclusion. In paragraph one, is where I made my first change the introduction was too short and needed more detail on what I was going to discuss in the essay so it could appeal more to readers and they can understand what I was trying to get across. Instead of only just saying my definition of college writing, in my change I talked and went into detail about my main points. The next change to my essay was the providing more examples in the body paragraphs. In paragraph three, I only provided one example of college writing. • 10. Body Paragraph Analysis Introductory Paragraph For years, people have been debating whether schools should have extra sporting activities. Studies have shown that children who attend after school activities have an increasing downfall in their grades. Therefore, schools should eliminate sports to allow students more time for their homework, help districts save money for school renovations, and prevent students from getting overwhelmed with extra academic practice.Body Paragraph#1 Although schools have had sports for many years, they should be putting their focus and concern towards students academics. According to Ripley, 20 nations have betterhigh school graduation rates than Premont high school (11). Amanda Ripley says "America lags behind many countries academically and more than 20 nations have better high school graduation rates (10). This shows how important academics are and how sports can easily take it away. This is important for schools to pay attention to if they are experiencing academic failures and increasing debt.Body Paragraph #2 Although academics are a concern, schools still need to focus on the costs of sports. According to Ripley, concession stands rarely cover the costs for home games such as security and cleaning crews (11)....show more content... When Superintendent Ernest Singleton of Premont Independent School District in Premont, Texas canceled sports, students grades went up tremendously from 50 to 80 percent (Ripley 11). A former Premont quarterback who started playing club football on weekends said, "There was all this extra time, you never got behind on your work" (Ripley 11). This data shows that if schools eliminate sports, students can have additional time to increase their grades. • 11. Thesis In The Introductory Paragraph Base 1. 1.Is there a clearly stated thesis in the introductory paragraph? The thesis sentence includes the writer's opinion of whether the writer disagrees or agrees to the argument of Gladwell. But I think the writer needs to write three reasons for supporting the opinion in the thesis sentence. 2.Do all the supporting paragraphs back up the thesis? The writers wrote three paragraphs for supporting the thesis sentence. So I was able to easily read and understand the each paragraphs. However, I think the first sentence of the first paragraph needs more detail about why the writer disagrees with the idea of surveillance. Comment : Overall, I was able to easily read this essay because the essay is obviously separated into 5 paragraphs, and each paragraphs...show more content... However, this essay needs more evidence overall. The writer may add examples of writer's experiences or ongoing situation in this society. Also, she needs at least two more citation for effectively finishing this argumentative essay. Base3 1.Is there a clear method of organization? (List of items or a time order?) I could realize that this essay clearly separates paragraphs into 5 paragraphs: Introduction, three body paragraphs, conclusion. However, I was difficult to know the main topic sentence of each paragraph. 2.Are transitions used to connect sentences and ideas? She used diverse transitions such as "Furthermore," and "Despite the fact that," for informing about next contents. I could predict that the following is her additional opinion or opposite information. Comment: Each paragraph does own roles in the essay. • 12. Third Body Paragraphs I have learned a lot of things throughout this unit. When I first started this unit I didn't know how to write a summary, analysis or a citation properly. That scared me because I am going into college next year and I have to know these things. Now I know how to write a summary without killing it to death. I know how to write analysis even though I make them a little bit too long at times. I also now know how to cite a source properly. When it comes to writing about my topic (Private vs Public Universities) I believe I have all the sources I need to write a solid research paper. If I was going to write a solid research paper I would have my introduction stating what my body paragraphs are going to be about and have my thesis. I would need to have little more research for a third body paragraph....show more content... One thing that this unit didn't change my mind about is how much I hate citations and how annoying they are to do. The only thing I think I could have truly done better is broaden my research a little bit more. I could have researched more about where they're mostly located, the ratios, the statics, and the activities. The other thing I could have done is that I could have done community college vs Public college vs Private college. This would have let me expand a lot more and get more valuable facts about all colleges instead of just two. If I would have done that then I could have wrote a research papers with three body paragraph about each different type of college. I feel as in it would have been more straightforward but I'm very biased when it comes to private or public colleges verus community because I don't believe in community college. Another thing I learned throughout this whole unit and I will always remember this... Roland and bibme are the worst resources to go to when learning how to do an annotated bibliography. Thank you for taking the time to teach us the basics and getting us college ready. This truly helped me become ready for next year in writing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Four Body Paragraphs STEP 4: LINKING YOUR CONCEPTIONS TOGETHER The final task is to link your conceptions together. Your essay will require a prelude, two to four body paragraphs (depending on the number of conceptions you have and your word count) and a conclusion. THE PRELUDE Recollect that a prelude should achieve three things: 1. Establish context/background 2. Outline the quandary you are endeavoring to resolve, and 3. State the main point you are arguing (your thesis verbalization) THE BODY PARAGRAPHS Utilize a paragraph for each of your main conceptions. Recollect that a body paragraph should commence with a topic sentence (verbally expressing the point of the paragraph), followed by the evidence for, and explication of, your point: Point Evidence Explication Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Agatha Christie Body Paragraphs This essay is effective as the organization used by the author allows the reader to easily understand the information. The introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion are all structured properly and create a positive reading experience. The opening paragraphs begin with the broad topic of mystery novels and funnels into more direct details about how Agatha Christie's characters, settings, and sense of morality makes her special. This triangle method allows for the general information to catch the attention of the reader then give the read more in depth details. This gives the reader an idea as to where the essay is heading. • 16. Difference Between Sentence And Paragraphs Sentences and paragraphs Sentence and paragraph structures should meet the following criteria: Sentences should not be overly long Sentences used together in a paragraph should all deal with the same topic. Paragraphs should have a clearly identifiable topic sentence. Paragraphs and sentences should follow each other in a logical way. • 18. Body Paragraphs From time to time we all hear that dreadful five letter word; "essay". Even though I am sure that we would all like to delete the word from existence, unfortunately, it will go on being an annoying part of high school. Many students hear this word and immediately begin to worry about whether or not they have a sufficient amount of time to write it, or if they can even write an essay good enough to get an acceptable grade on it. They struggle with not knowing how to write an effective essay. Most students really struggle getting across the idea that they want to tell their readers. "When I came to write my first assignment, I cried," says Daphne Elliston (from essay writing trips you up). "I just didn't know what I was doing." The writing in...show more content... Just because you have stated your thesis and have given your opinion on the subject, does not suddenly make your opinion true. The body of your essay, which will contain your three arguments, is what will prove what you have already stated in your thesis. The number amount of your body might not always be three paragraphs, but the typical high school or college essay will be. Each of your three arguments, or main ideas, will be put at the beginning of each of your paragraphs. Write the Body Paragraphs states that you should, "Start by writing down one of your main ideas, in sentence form. Next, write down each of your supporting points for that main idea, but leave four or five lines in between each point. In the space under each point, write down some elaboration for that point. If you wish, include a summary sentence for each paragraph. This is not generally needed, however, and such sentences have a tendency to sound stilted, so be cautious about using them. Once you have fleshed out each of your body paragraphs, one for each main point, you are ready to continue." It is also important to keep in mind that while you are writing your essay that you want to try your best to try to keep from writing in first or second person. You want to try to maintain an objective voice while working and work on the paper by using third person. If you struggle with the habit of using "I think", "I feel", or "I believe", than it is best to look over your paper before you turn it in to make sure that you get rid of those Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Analysis Of The Article ' The Body Paragraphs ' After first reviewing the article, it came to the reader's attention that Neltner was providing the stronger argument. Neltner believed that smarter investments and stricter oversight were the key to providing safe drinking water to the public. When speaking to the reader in the introduction, he used a first person point of view to attract the reader's attention. For example, the word "we" was used to make the reader feel involved in the subject. A similar method was utilized in the conclusion to remind the reader that they were included in this discussion. In the body paragraphs, the same method was used in a similar way. The writer deviated to third person point of view instead of first. This was intended to cause the argument to...show more content... He was not clear with his argument. Therefore, his redirect is lacking. Neltner leaves the reader guessing because the concession is incomplete in the text. He does not state what needs to be done to improve the drinking water. The redirect needs to be expressed in a better way to justify federal funding. It is also tied to the concession which makes it come off as an ambiguous phrase. The "why" from the concession is missing because of this. Neltner's reasoning also comes off as a potential deceptive statistic which makes also makes it an ambiguous phrase. The reader is not sure whether there is a mean, median, or mode because the statement is not in depth making it appear to be deceptive. Of the two men debating this issue, Neltner is the more qualified individual. In this text he uses himself as an expert opinion because he is a qualified individual. This appears to exhibit a strength because he is knowledgeable in the subject. However, that is not the case. He uses himself as the expert opinion, which causes him to not express the value in this value assumption. Despite the fact that he knows what he is talking about, Neltner does not express what doing enough is in this article. He talks about how the government could do more, but he does not express what could be done. Moore's argument has more weaknesses than strengths. He starts off by using first person point of view in the plural form to transition. But, he does not use them in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 21. My Personal Writing Style Speaking is one of the communication methods for people to convey their ideas. On average, people speak around 16000 words a day (Huynh). On the other hand, writing is a more formal and concise way of communication than speaking. However, a person need to practice in order to write well. Throughout years, its writing habit developed, writing style progressed, and writing content varied. In this essay, I would reflect on my own writing process now, how my writing progressed throughout three years in PRISMS, and On Writing. Writing starts with thinking about a prompt. I think about what I want to say based on what I learn in the novel. Planning The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn essay, for example, I noticed that Huck's emotion descriptions...show more content... After the first revision, I would give myself another day, leaving the essay alone, and make it more concise. Writing habits do not form in days, and my writing process, quality, and style progressed. I came to PRISMS in ninth grade, knowing nothing about writing essays. In China, I never wrote any formal English essay. I learned the process of writing an English essay from the basics in my first essay for To Kill a Mockingbird. Ms. Hedman, my ninth grade English teacher, guided us to brainstorm ideas, to form thesis statements, to annotate and list out important quotations, and to use MLA format. In tenth grade, Mr. Johnson focused on the body paragraph structure and emphasized on how to use quotations in it. For each quotation, a sentence introduces the situation in book the quotation comes from before the quotation, a sentence analyzing the quotation after citing the quotation, and a sentence connecting the quotation to the topic sentence. Mr. Johnson pointed out that we should care about how readers would feel reading the quotation and what they can get from it and wrote it in the analysis.
