2. Examples of a Bad Lock Valve
• The nut at the bottom of the
valve is only 1/8” thick
• The knob has marks on head
from using channel locks or
spike to turn knob
• The knob is bent
LOCK VALVES IN THIS CONDITION SHOULD
BE TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE AND
REPLACED IMMEDIATELY
3. Example of a Good Lock Valve
• Bottom nut is 5/8” thick
• Knob is in good condition- no
marks on side
• Lubricate the lock valve once a
week with Industry Railway

--Synthetic oil from any
auto parts store, gun oil,
or sewing machine oil
works as well
