INTRODUCTION
“ The study of perception is concerned with identifying the process through
which we interpret and organize sensory information to produce our
conscious experience of objects and object relationship.”
“ Perception is the process of receiving information about and making sense
of the world around us. It involves deciding which information to notice,
how to categorize this information and how to interpret it within the
framework of existing knowledge.
“ A process by which individuals organize and interpret their sensory
impressions in order to give meaning to their environment.
The Halo Effect is the belief that people
who are more attractive are treated
better and more successful in society.
The theory of it has been tested and
proven true, but there still is not enough
evidence to prove that it works with
everyone.
Can the halo effect be bad?
This effect distorts the way you may see a
person or a product, thinking that the
person or item is better and more amazing
than reality dictates. We are more inclined
to gloss over an attractive person’s negative
attributes, such as selfishness, and judge
them more positively than merited.

Types Of Perceptions
Some of the
main types of
perception
include:
Vision
Touch
Sound
Taste
Smell
There are also other senses that
allow us to perceive things such as
balance, time, body position,
acceleration, and the perception of
internal states. Many of these are
multimodal and involve more than
one sensory modality. Social
perception, or the ability to identify
and use social cues about people
and relationships, is another
important type of perception.
The visual cortex is the part of the cerebral cortex responsible
for processing visual information, and is located in the
occipital lobe
What Optical Illusions
Show Us About Visual
Perception ?
The human visual system analyzes
the interactions between visible
electromagnetic waves and the
objects in our environment, extracts
information about the world from
them, and makes visual perception
possible. Visual perception is
considered a dynamic process that
goes far beyond simply replicating
the visual information provided by
the retina.
The Perception
Of Colour
The psychology of color is based on the mental
and emotional effects colors have on sighted
people in all facets of life. There are some very
subjective pieces to color psychology as well
as some more accepted and proven elements.
Keep in mind, that there will also be variations
in interpretation, meaning, and perception
between different cultures.
Did you know your surroundings may be
influencing your emotions and state of
mind? Do you ever notice that certain
places especially irritate you? Or that
certain places are especially relaxing
and calming? Well, there’s a good
chance that the colors in those spaces
are playing a part.
APPLYING COLOR
PSYCHOLOGY TO
EVERYDAY LIFE
Psychological Effects Of
Cool Colors
Need to be creative? Want help getting
those brain synapses firing? Try utilizing
the color purple. Purple utilizes both red
and blue to provide a nice balance
between stimulation and serenity that is
supposed to encourage creativity. Light
purple is said to result in a peaceful
surrounding, thus relieving tension. These
could be great colors for a home or
business office.
Psychological Effects Of
Warm Colors
Want to create an environment of
stimulation or whet people’s appetite? You
might consider utilizing the colors yellow
or orange. These colors are often
associated with food and can cause your
tummy to growl a little. Have you ever
wondered why so many restaurants use
these colors? Now you know why even
after people watched the movie Supersize
Me, they said they were hungry.
Colour Psychology As
Therapy
•Red is used to stimulate the body and mind and to
increase circulation.
•Yellow is thought to stimulate the nerves and purify the
body.
•Orange is used to heal the lungs and to increase energy
levels.
•Blue is believed to soothe illnesses and treat pain.
•Indigo shades are thought to alleviate skin problems.
