  3. 3. Know your purpose <ul><li>Know why you are creating the Presentation </li></ul><ul><li>Having a purpose will help guide what you put onto each slide, what type of feel you are looking for, and what information you are trying to convey to your audience </li></ul>

Know your audience <ul><li>Who are you presenting to? </li></ul><ul><li>What type of presentation would be most effective for the audience (humorous, serious, fancy, etc) </li></ul><ul><li>How can you grab their attention? </li></ul><ul><li>How can you make sure that they get the information that they need? </li></ul>

Grab attention with your opening <ul><li>This will set the tone for the presentation </li></ul><ul><li>If you start out on a positive note the presentation will probably follow suit </li></ul><ul><li>Good attention getters </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Humor </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Quote </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Challenge audience </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Startling, appropriate statement </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Refer to a current event </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Anecdote </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Ask a question </li></ul></ul>
