Asthma Mini Review
By: Jennie Daley Asthma is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that affects approximately 22
million people in the United States. Six million of those people are children, making it the most
common chronic disease of children ("What is Asthma" and National 1). Asthma may be associated
with morbidity, mortality, and diminished quality of life.Asthma is considered a long–term disease
because there is currently no cure (Young). Further defining this disorder will be achieved by
explaining the disease and symptoms, addressing how it is acquired, ways physicians diagnose it,
and elaborating on treatments. Asthma can be characterized by its high levels of neutrophils which
inflame patients' airways (Tilbury 9). This inflammation...show more content...
There are a range of different forms varying in relation to the need of the patient. If the patient is in
need of quick relief, the physician may prescribe inhaled short–acting beta2–agonists. This medicine
acts quickly to relax tight muscles around airways during an asthma attack. Inhaled corticosteroids
are preferred for long term asthma control. These are the most effective option for long–term relief
of swelling, inflammation and sensitivity. This is not the only long–term control medicine option
though. There are others with the same desired goals such as inhaled long–acting beta2–agonists,
leukotriene modifiers, theophylline, cromolyn, and omalizumab. These are generally not as effective
as inhaled corticosteroids, which are believed to be the main reason for great improvements in
asthma management since the early 1980s ("What is Asthma" and Horne). Asthma management is
also very dependent on the patient and their knowledge, skills, and confidence in knowing when to
take the medication. If taken too late, the patient may still need hospitalization, whereas if taken too
often when not needed, the patient may grow immunity to the drug, or become dependent on it

were carefully read and studied by the researchers to synthesized and relate different scholarly
articles, journals, and other reference material to the present study entitled Customers
Satisfaction to the Service of Dasmarinas Water District. These related literature and studies gave
concrete foundation to the research. Related Literature Customer and Service According to Okoli
(2007), customer is anyone who approached the provider to satisfy his/her needs while service is
the trade between provider and customer that has the responsibility to create or destroy the
organization. In line with service is quality, which depend on the result of the customers'
comparison between expectations about service and perceived performance (Islam, 2011).
Service is different from product, and it is classified into three service dimensions, such as:
intangibility, simultaneous delivery and customer participation (Ojo, 2011). For Proompow
(2013), he defined service quality based on its important factors, where he stated that: "The
important factors of the service quality form the word SERVICE. That is 'S' stands for
satisfaction, 'E' stands for expectation, 'R' is readiness, 'V' is value, 'I' is Interest, 'C' is courtesy
and 'E' is efficiency." Customer Service From the words customer and service, customer service

Part One: Customer Satisfaction
2.1.1Introduction to Customer Satisfaction:
Customer Satisfaction is one of the main topics rises recently. Before years there was a revelation of
a customer service to concentrate on customer, to treat with him in a better way, to please and fulfill
his demands of the customer. In order to achieve that, researchers analyzed the customer population
then took random samples and after that generalized the results and came with procedures to treat
and please the customers. The first thing is spark in the satisfaction of the customer concept added to
the private sector, later applied to the other sectors.
Customer satisfaction represents a set of business processes touching on all aspects of...show more

Cheefy defined it as ' the extent to which a customers' expectations of product quality, service
quality, and price are met.'
The reality of Customer Satisfaction is in the eyes of the beholder – the customer. And all about how
to meet the expectation of those customers and even exceeding those expectations.
According to Business Dictionary definition it is 'the degree of satisfaction provided by the good or
service of a company as measured by the number of repeat customers.'
Or it is "the number of customers or percentage of total customers, whose reported experience with
a firm, its products, or its services (ratings) exceeds specified satisfaction goals." (Paul W. and
others, 2010).
Customer satisfaction can be experienced in a variety of situations and connected to both goods and
services. It is a highly personal assessment that is greatly affected by customer expectations.
Satisfaction also is based on the customer's experience of both contacts with the organization and
personal outcomes.
Some researchers define a satisfied customer within the private sector as "one who receives
significant added value" to his/her bottom line–a definition that may apply just as well to public
services. (Cengiz,

4. Literature Review On Six Sigma
Literature Review:
The following literature review will give an introduction of the terms Six Sigma and Lean
followed by a definition of Lean Six Sigma and its application. Based on this, the DMAIC process
its relevant tools will be described in short. Finally, the ermValue stream mapping t will be
explained followed by an illustration of the relevant methodology as well as their benefits and
drawbacks.
Six Sigma
Six Sigma is a management system consolidating a "rigorous, focused and highly effective
implementation of proven quality principles and techniques. (Pryzdek, Keller & Access
Engineering, 2014). The greek letter & in Six Sigma refers to the variablility of defect rates per
unit and gives an indicator of how often defect rates are...show more content...
and increasing the process speed by eliminating non–value added activities (waste) in the total
process (Aruleswaran, 2009)
Contrary to this, Six Sigma is a purely data driven method, focusing on improved quality and better
business performance by reducing defects and variations (Thawani, 2007)
Eventhough, several differences seem to appear, most practicioners perceive Lean and Six Sigma
as complementary approaches helping to simultaneously target a range of process problems.
Therefore, many companies consider Lean Six Sigma (LSS) as an approach allowing to combine
both methodologies into an integrated system of an improvement road map. (Al Haik & Al–Aomar,
2006).
In the light of this the following definition best applies to this principle: "Lean Six Sigma is an
organized, parallel–meso structure to (a) eliminate waste and streamline all organizational processes
(on the basis of Lean Management) and (b) reduce variation in critical organizational processes (on
the basis of Six Sigma) by using improvement specialists, a structured method (project management),
and performance metrics with the aim of achieving strategic objectives and generating savings to the
bottom line of an organization" (Jacob, 2014)

For my restaurant review, I picked the restaurant Soulshine Pizza Factory because of its atmosphere.
The restaurant was named after a song called "Soulshine" which was written by Warren Haynes and

There is a purpose in doing performance evaluations, in which it helps management make general
human resource decisions. Performance evaluations provide input to help make important decisions
such as promotions, transfers and even terminations. Also, could help to identify training and

Neutral reviews are honest, providing the good and bad of the lawyer and/or firm. Not responding

by responding to negative feedback. This shows potential clients reviews matter to you and your

The approach to responding, however, should be professional, polite, and brief. Unprofessional
behavior such as sparring with reviewers makes lawyers unlikeable. The heated approach keeps the

unnecessary attention and exposure may lead to irreversible damage to brand image and legal

The discipline that results from those forces, and how that affects all levels of management, does not
naturally exist in government. The book has done a good job of offering the different perspectives
to date, but I hope to see more discussion on how to combine the best of both worlds. It is telling
that the essays discussing the role of the private sector in delivering public services are NOT part
of this discussion, but found in a separate section of the book. My only comment on those chapters
would be to suggest that our procurement processes need to evolve to better understand what is
being asked for in terms of private delivery of services, why, and what limits there need to be. I
hope to see more analysis comparing both theory and practice in this regard.
As an MP, I particularly enjoyed the chapters addressing questions such as "Do Politicians Control

Responsibility a Dead Concept?" These go to the core of the relationship between, on the one side,
the politicians and the policies they are mandated to implement by the people who elected them,
and on the other side, the civil service, representing the need for a consistent, effective, efficient,
