INTRODUCTION
20
Community awareness is a process of developing a world population that
21
is aware of and concerned about the total environment and its associated
22
problems, various diseases, nutritional problems etc and which has the
23
knowledge, skills, attitudes, motivation and commitment to work
24
individually and collectively towards solution to current problems and
25
the prevention of new ones. The eradication of diseases , natural
26
resources, increase in food production, better nutrition etc are various
27
awareness programmes. It helps in developing positive attitudes and
28
effective skills.
29
Living corners are areas where some animals and plants are grown and
30
reared. Aquarium, vivarium and terrarium are examples for living
31
corners. It helps the pupil to develop skill in observation, interest in
32
plants etc,.

34
PISCICULTURE
35
Fish farming or pisciculture involves raising36
fish commercially in tanks or enclosures such37
as fish ponds, usually for food. It is the38
principal form of aquaculture, while other39
methods may fall under mariculture. The40
species of fish which can be kept successfully in41
captivity throughout their lives from egg to42
adult is exceedingly limited in number. The43
various breeds of goldfish are familiar44
examples, but the carp is almost the only food-45
fish capable of similar domestication. Various46
other food-fishes, both marine and fresh-water,47
can be kept in ponds for longer or shorter48
periods, but refuse to breed, while in other49
cases the fry obtained from captive breeders50
will not develop. Consequently there are two51
main types of pisciculture to be distinguished52
1. Rearing in confinement of young fishes to an53
edible stage.54
2. The stocking of natural waters with eggs or55
fry from captured breeders.56
57
58
59
IMPORTANCE OF PISCICULTURE60
 Pisciculture has a vital role in augmenting food61
productionas the world demand for fish products is62
increasingsteadily.63
 It helps to utilize the vast areas like paddy fields can64
be used for culturing of fishes.65
66
 Culture of selected varietiesof fish will help in a67
good yield of commercial forms68

Different Types of Garden72
73
 Vegetable Garden74
Gardening means different things to different75
people. Thousands view gardening as a hobby,76
a relaxing escape from the pressures of an77
urban environment. For these people, the food78
produced may be almost secondary. Growing79
fresh vegetables, herbs, or fruits provides a80
great sense of joy and accomplishment. A81
vegetable garden can also reduce the family's82
food budget.83
The vegetable garden has traditionally been84
located in an area separate from other parts of85
the landscape because it was considered86
unsightly. With proper planning, however, the87
garden can be both functional and attractive.88
Landscape designers today often incorporate89
the home landscape and ornamental plants90
such as flowering annuals into the vegetable91
garden.92

95
IMPORTANCE OF VEGETABLE GARDEN96
97
Improve your health.98
99
Consumingmore fresh fruits and vegetables is one100
of the most importantthings you can do to stay101
healthy.102
Save money on groceries. One of the benefits of103
enjoying garden vegetables is a reduced monthly104
food bill.105
106
Get outdoorexercise.107
108
109
Gardening is a natural stress reliever.110
111
112
 Ornamental Gardens113
The term ornamental plant is used here in the114
same sense that it is generally used in the115
horticultural trades. The term largely116
corresponds to 'garden plant', though the117
latter is much less precise, as any plant may118
be grown in a garden. Ornamental plants are119
plants which are grown for display purposes,120
rather than functional ones. While some121
plants are both ornamental and functional,122
people usually use the term “ornamental123
plants” to refer to plants which have no value124
beyond being attractive, although many125
people feel that this is value enough.126
Ornamental plants are the keystone of127
ornamental gardening, and they come in a128
range of shapes, sizes and colours suitable to129
a broad array of climates, landscapes, and130
gardening needs.131
Some ornamental plants are grown for showy132
foliage. Other ornamental plants are133
cultivated for their blooms. Flowering134
ornamentals are a key aspect of many135
gardens, with many flower gardeners136
preferring to plant a variety of flowers so that137
the garden is continuously in flower through138
the spring and summer. Depending on the139
types of plants being grown, the flowers may140
be subtle and delicate, or large and showy,141
with some ornamental plants producing142
distinctive aromas which paint a palette of143
scents in addition to colours. The most144
popular and intriguing group of plants in145
existence.146
147
148
IMPORTANCE OF ORNAMENTAL GARDENS149
150
Ornamental plants are mainly used to enhance the151
beauty of a garden or home.152
153
Floweringand non-floweringornamental plants154
can be used in creating parks, different themed155
gardens, lawn borders, etc.156
157
 Raising and selling of ornamental plants are a158
good business.159
 Herbal Garden160
161
Herbs are probably undoubtedly, the162
explanation for this is that over the centuries163
herbs have been used in so many different164
ways. They flavor our foods, perfume our165
homes and bodies, decorate our gardens, and166
cure our ills. One way or another, herbs touch167
each of our lives. Herbs are very easy to grow168
with a little sunshine, soil that drains well,169
some watering, and a little fertilizer or170
compost. Herbs can be grown in pots; however,171
the plants always prefer to be in the ground172
where they can spread out. Some plants grow173
quite large (4-6 feet), and when placed in pots174
they can become stunted and can get stressed,175
which causes them to be very unhappy.176
177
178
179
180
181
IMPORTANCE OF HERBAL GARDEN182
183
 Herbal medicine has its origins in ancient cultures.184
185
 It involves the medicinal use of plants186
to treat diseaseand enhance general health and187
wellbeing.188
189
190
 Some herbs have potent (powerful) ingredients191
and shouldbe taken with the same level of cautionas192
pharmaceutical medications.193
194
CONCLUSION195
196
Community awareness programmes are197
essential among people for the building up198
of a better and healthy life. Awareness on199
environmental cleanliness is very200
important for the eradication of various201
diseases. Awareness on better nutrition202
helps to minimize the mortality rate203
of children especially among tribal people.204
Conservation of natural resources can be205
effectively practiced through a better206
awareness among the community.207
Living corners such as vivarium ,208
terrarium, aquarium etc. helps the pupil to209
know more about the factors of ecosystem,210
balance of nature, food chain, food web etc.211
It helps to develop awareness and concern212
for the environment among children. It will213
help them to realize the sanctity of plants,214
animals, trees, birds etc. It also helps them215
to adopt eco-friendly life style.216
