Program Overview: The purpose of the P.E. program is to encourage physical activity and promote
the enjoyment of sport by exposing students to a variety of athletic experiences. Hopefully, students
will come to appreciate that physical activity can lead to an overall healthier well being.

Each unit, where possible, will contain a fitness component. Units may include a variety of indoor
(gym or weight room) and outdoor (field sport) activities. Out of school activities are also planned and
students must have the appropriate permission forms on file in the school to participate. Students must
be prepared to walk as a group to the facility, but in extremely cold weather a bus may be use to travel
to the venue.

Requirements:

   • Be in the gym, changes, on time, and ready to participate
   • Appropriate change of clothes including:
o Move-in attire (top and bottom)

   • No valuables and/or electronics (leave in locker or other secure location)

part to determine the student’s C.A.P.E. grade.

Students will be graded according to their Co-operation, Attitude, Participation and Effort
(C.A.P.E) displayed in class. Students will also be evaluated on their Skill Development as compared
to the key skill development criteria taught in class. Theory Evaluations vary according to the unit but
may consists of practical demonstrations, written evaluations, projects or self/peer evaluations.
Students are expected to have a duo-tang for P.E. Portfolio in which to keep all of the theory work
assigned. Students are given an opportunity to have input on their overall grade through their Self
Evaluation of their class participation.
