4. Routing: is the first but the most important and difficult task
of the production control. Routing means, determination of
path or route on which manufacturing operations will travel.

Loading: is the function of assigning work to a machine
or department in advance.
Scheduling : It determines the time at which each
operation is to take place. It tells the specific determination
of what is going to the production during the next few weeks
or months.

5. Estimating :It involves determining in advance the
probable cost of producing a job on which a sales
department wishes to make a bid.
Dispatching : Meaning of this term is sending to
destination or starting something on way. When applied to
production control, it means the assignment of work to
different machines or work places which involves insurance
of order and production form in order of their priority as
determined by scheduling
Expediting :Follow up which regulates the progress of
materials and parts through the production process. It
checks whether plans are actually being executed.
