2. Earlier last year I went to a concert and
got to meet the artist King Charles, I
captured the photo with King Charles
and Ella, so I thought it would be nice
to incorporate it into the contents page
as it is an exclusive photo with one of
my models and an actual artist. So I
changed her name to Electra and made
the photo about a collaboration
between King Charles and Electra.
3. Editing techniques I used on the contents page.
I manipulated the hair colour of my model Hannah,
and changed the colour and contrast, using the
contrast options and the ‘Magnetic Lasso Tool’. I
turned it pink, alongside with the background and
made it a more grey/crème colour (thus making it
different from the background of the photo above)
I then did the basics and edited blemishes my
models faces, making the photo more
professional and creating a level of believability
making the audience see my models as people
who would be in the public eye, with the
media manipulating their features to make
them look more aesthetically pleasing and
flawless.
4. I created my own advertisements, making a deal for a
subscription to Tremolo. I then added to another logo for
Reading and Leeds festival, showing that there’s a
competition inside to win tickets to a music festival. I did
this because it would entice my target audience of late
teenagers because when I did research on the Reading and
Leeds festival, I found that the average age of someone
who attends is 18 years old. Therefore it was perfect to
include
5. Not only did I use my own images and add to images
already out there, I used some real bands within the
magazine to show a range of differentiation with the artists
in the magazine. Mixtures of ages, genders, types of rock
(my genre) etc.
The bands mentioned are varied
with different styles, so I was
careful to select specific sub
headings on the contents page so
it appealed to a wider audience.
6. For the contents page, I decided make the layout
similar to a newspaper. With the Times New
Roman font and the text being black on a white
background.
I enlarged the page numbers for each story for
convenience and also since it is a vital aspect of
the contents page.
Each section is divided off to give a more
structured appearance and it makes it clear
which picture belongs to which text.
I used a mixture of original images and images
from the internet to create a more realistic
magazine, using real artists in the magazine as
well as my own made up artists ‘The Comrads’
‘Carmen Livido’ and ‘Electra’. I have a mixture of
colours on these images. Top left is black and
white, then a yellow themed image for page 8.
This colour makes it look more aesthetically
pleasing and giving the impression that the
magazine isn’t strictly going down one theme
with their artists but are open to different stories
to please a larger target audience of 16-25.
At the bottom of the contents page I included
some advertisements and offers, making it more
realistic. Also mentioning the free poster which
would entice my target audience.
