Partnerships for Students
With an interest in public education, Samuel Zurier served on the School Board in
Providence, Rhode Island, from 2000 until 2002. In addition to his work as of
counsel to Oliverio & Marcaccio, Samuel Zurier contributes to such educational
endeavors as the reopening of Nathan Bishop Middle School, an achievement that
sparked the neighborhood’s interest and involvement in public education issues.

An integral part of the neighborhood and greater community, Nathan Bishop
Middle School establishes partnerships with organizations to provide after school
opportunities for the school’s students. With an array of choices , most students
find something to capture their attention and time. In some cases, organizations
charge no fees, while others offer sliding scale rates.

Partnerships for Students
Partners provide athletic, artistic, and technological activities for interested
middle school students. The Eastside YMCA and the Jewish Community Center,
operated by the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island, provide fitness
opportunities, games, and swimming. The East Side Y also offers to design
distinctive programs for Nathan Bishop students.
