Organization . He is the official Record
Keeper and may be involved in implementing
Team Recommendation. He is a Coach for
the rest of the Team.
The Team Leader facilitates Team development

 The Charter for the Team consists of Mission

 Mission Statement : It is simple, encompasses

measured. An Example- “The purpose of the
Team is to reduce the time between when an
order is taken and when it is filled, while
simultaneously improving the quality of products
shipped.”
 Ground Rules: These are agreed to by the
Team Members right at the beginning
indicating agreed upon actions by Team
Members
 Team Goals: The ultimate results to be
achieved by the Team for which it was set
up.
 Teamwork Cycle : Promotes Learning----

 Plan : Based on need assessment. Activities should be
based on strengths and weaknesses of Team Members
done through needs assessment
 Execute: Just in Time or Continuous Improvement
 Evaluate : Effectiveness can be measured by analyzing
how weaknesses identified are strengthened. Needs
assessment can be re-administered.
• Team Members must feel the importance of
Participation
• Team Members must act like a single entity

 Influence of a Member on decision should be on
his capacity to contribute and not on his
authority in the organization
 Team decisions must be properly integrated
with normal or regular decision of
Departments
 Conflicts within the Team must be confronted
& resolved
 Great People don’t equal Great Teams– Tom

addressed
 Enhance the Communication & Interpersonal
Skills of Team Members through Training
 Acknowledge that the conflict exists
 Gain Common Ground
 Seek to Understand all angles of the Conflict
 Attack the issue causing the Conflict, not the
persons involved
 Develop a Conflict Resolution Action Plan
 For Team based Rewards, communicate
expected behavior and why they are
necessary to the Team Leader & Team
Members . Also indicate how they will be
recognized and rewarded
 Decide what Performance is to be
measured, Determine how to measure
performance. Identify rewards to be offered.
Integrate related processes
 Different People respond to different
incentives
 Organization should survey employees
before implementing non monetary
incentives
 Set up a system where the Employees can
select the award that appeal to them
 Write a letter to the Employee’s Family
 Arrange for a Senior Level Manager to have
lunch with the Employees
 Have the CEO call the Employee personally
to thank him
 Think of all recognition strategies
