The document discusses Prom for Dreams, an event that provides prom attire and accessories to foster students. Sarah Compher and Ashley Bishop helped organize the event and were nervous but excited to find enough dresses. The event exceeded their expectations and benefited both female and male students from various ethnic backgrounds and living situations. The document thanks various sponsors and organizers who helped make Prom for Dreams a success.
Once you pick out that perfect dress you begin your quest for the perfect accessories. Normally you would have to search high and low and go to many stores to find something that matched but not for our 20 lucky ladies that came to the boutique! We had at least 50 pairs of shoes, beautiful earrings, bracelets, and necklaces, clutches, and an ULTA makeup giftbox for each participant.
Because our event is for foster children we are unable to post many of their pictures but here are some of the boutique and our wonderful volunteers! We started setting up the boutique (which was held at the Ginsburg home in Winter Park) the day before. We created dressing rooms in the ballroom complete with a full length mirror lamp and a chair in each dressing room. We organized the dresses by size and then color, displayed the shoes by size and color, and detaged all jewelry, purses, and dresses. On the day of the event our volunteers arrived to get everything in order and to be the foster student’s personal shopper. Once they found their dream dress and accessories UCF Costume Designers were on hand to make sure the dress was perfect! On the day of their prom the girls are set with to jet with a gift certificate to get their hair and makeup done at Gary Lambert ‘s Salon, a gift card for a mani and pedi, and visa gift card for dinner.
