Research Proposal - Cerebrovascular Disease and Alzheimer’s Connected
1.
2. After working with a number of leading recruiting
companies, Scott Robarge founded his recruiting
consultancy, Another8, to help evolving technology
companies meet their talent acquisition goals. Scott
Robarge balances his professional endeavors with a
variety of other interests, including his support of the
Alzheimer’s Association.
In a recent press release, the Alzheimer’s Association
announced that members of its research team and
other scientists are recommending an investigation
into the link between the progression of Alzheimer’s
and vascular conditions.
3. The researchers proposed a research agenda in
Alzheimer’s & Dementia: The Journal of the
Alzheimer’s Association that could reveal new
information on effectively preventing and treating
dementia.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, an
increasing amount of research indicates that the
most prevalent cause of dementia among seniors is a
combination of vascular and Alzheimer’s-related
brain irregularities. Studies performed post-mortem on
people who have Alzheimer’s have shown that
almost half also have signs of strokes in their brains.
4. While cerebrovascular disease, such as
strokes, can be avoided with a variety of
interventions, research has not
concluded if better management of
vascular risks can also reduce dementia
risks. However, a spate of related studies
support the theory, and the scientists
behind the recent research agenda
recommend further investigation.
