Are you planning to pursue an MBA programme? If yes, there are probably different things
you have heard about it. From how expensive it is to how only the top B-schools matter,
there are different MBA stories lingering around. So, how do you know what to believe
about top MBA colleges in Pune and what not to? The following are some of the top myths
busted for you. Keep reading to find out.
1. All MBAs are the same
Individuals often assume that an MBA in international business management or any subject
is what matters. However, the MBA college you study in also plays a major role. And based
on the college, your knowledge and experience can vary.
2. You need to be rich to afford an MBA
Yes, MBA is a huge investment; in terms of money and time. But, this does not limit this
degree only to the rich. Many MBA universities in Pune, Bangalore and other cities offer
scholarships and student loans. Thanks to this, anyone can get closer to their dream MBA
programme.
3. An MBA is useful only when you specialise in Finance
'If you don't have an MBA in Finance, you don't have an MBA.' This is assumed by so many
individuals out there. Today, as the industry is evolving, colleges have started offering
subjects that are not mainstream, but beneficial.
For example, nobody would have thought of an MBA in energy management 10 years ago.
But now, the number of students who want to pursue this degree is more as compared to
the seats available.
4. Work experience is a must
Many MBA students often have a year's work experience. But, this does not mean it is a
prerequisite for getting into an MBA college. Many colleges accept freshers; provided they
fit the eligibility criteria.
5. MBA is for extroverts
While it is better to be able to present yourself without any hesitation, it isn't an elimination
parameter. You will probably develop these skills during your course. Hence, you do not
2. have to worry if you are an introvert.
6. The committee uses a set formula to select a candidate
A good MBA entrance score+ work experience+ recommendation letter from a reputed
alumnus= perfect candidate.
The panel does not use this formula to judge an MBA aspirant. Their decision solely depends
on your entrance exam score, application form, SOP, group discussion, and personal
interview.
These are the top MBA stories you should not believe in. If you want to get selected in your
dream B-school, you should start preparing in advance.
