WHO’S WHO INSTITUTE.RO
by ING
Institute.ro built a ″who’s who″ section
of the creative industries in Romania.
It gathers portfolios of the studios,
designers, artists and practical
information about possible
collaborations, entrepreneurship and
creative businesses.
Institute.ro developed a very necessary
infrastructure to promote entrepreneurs
in the creative industries.

DESIGN MUSEUM
We are working on opening a
permanent design gallery, that will
set the context to start the talk about
a Romanian design museum.
RDW 2015 invited to an imagination
exercise:
We chose 4 objects/projects that we
would include in a future permanent
collection of the museum and we
exhibited them at RDW Main Venue,
inside the main exhibition.

25. Romanian Design
Week Main exhibition
The exhibition presents some of the most important
recent Romanian design pieces, showing their
impact and relevant practices for the Romanian
creative industries in 2016.
26. Product design
This exhibition is an opportunity to talk about
local talents, about their efforts and their
attempts to build a career in the field.
We are talking about a difficult endeavor, as
local industry is vaguely aware of them, and real
public interest for this area is still modest.
We intend to capture each year the best of the
recent work from the product designers. We
look for the pragmatism and ability to create an
authentic item, with a commercial potential, with
available production means and in some cases
with the help of artisans and their craftsmanship
that may be transfered to a new generation.

27. Fashion
Romanian Design Week appeared when we
wondered “Romanian design, where to?”.
At the moment, many Romanian designers
are more appreciated in the official fashion
capitals than locally. So an event that talks
about them and their work, that would
bring them all together closer to the general
public, is an idea not only desirable but
necessary.

28. Architecture
In this section you will find architecture, urbanism
and interior design projects that could make a
difference in the way we think, we practice and
we understand architecture here in Romania.
There are projects showcasing the incredible
force of architecture, its ability to change the way
we perceive the world, the space and the human
history. The exhibition is a statement of good
architecture, negotiating with legacy constraints and
with our own indifference.

29. Hybrid design
Romanian Design Week seeks and promotes
multidisciplinary projects that may represent examples
of best practices for collaborations between designers,
producers and distributors. Unconventional artistic
interventions, food and sound design, digital experiences
will be included in the selection of this multidisciplinary
section of Romanian Design Week.

30. Industrial design
Industrial design brings together objects of beauty
and purpose, with both aesthetic and technological
characteristics. The category will exhibit products
that improve our way of living, enrich our culture and
contribute to our economy – from ergonomic furniture
to smart watches, from domestic appliances to smart
materials.

31. Graphic design
Our graphic design area is the playground for
illustrators, typographers, graphic designers and
art-directors. Featuring a whole host of different
techniques and working processes, such as paper
craft, animation and typography, the exhibition
is full of vibrant and inspiring work by freelance
illustrators, creative agencies, collectives,
publications and print studios from across Romania,
giving graphic design the recognition it deserves on
the creative industries agenda.

32. Connected
Events
For ten days, Bucharest is energized by creativity,
whether we are talking about architecture, interior
design, fashion, product design or graphic and
illustration. Besides the Main exhibitions dedicated to
artists and designers, a number of conventional and
unconventional spaces, art galleries, design studios,
workshops and showrooms will host conferences,
exhibitions, screenings, workshops.
