This presentation shows the process that I use for researching a book using Zotero and Scrivener. I first add references and notes to Zotero. Next, I will port the notes to Scrivener where I will then organize them to begin writing. 2. Build a
collection of
references in
Zotero

3. Create A folder for your
project and two subfolders:
Reviewed and Moved to
Scrivener.

4. Initially place references in
your project folder. Then add
notes to each reference.

5. Once notes have been
added, move reference to
Reviewed folder and Remove
Item from Collection.

6. Once completed, there
should be no references in
the project folder, instead all
the references should have
notes tags and be in the
Reviewed folder.

7. Time to move notes from
Zotero to Scrivener

8. Copy a note or a section of
note and place it on the
clipboard.
Next switch to Scrivener.

9. Create a new note.
Paste the note saved on the
clipboard to the note.
Return to Zotero

10. Right click on the reference
and select Create
Bibliography from item…

11. Select Citation Style,
Notes, Copy to
Clipboard, and finally, the
OK button.
Switch to Scrivener.

12. Click on the Comments &
Footnotes button.
Paste reference information
into the field provided.
Repeat process for other
notes.

13. Move reference to the
Moved to Scrivener
folder.
Remove reference from
the Reviewed folder.
