3. The Legal Standards And Regulations
1.
A) Arguments for proposal:
i) Establishing legal standards and regulations always play an important role when it comes to the user
s perspective, it equips the user to use the system in the right way to maximum capacity. It also brings
out the system s restraints in various aspects of functioning and safety per the regulations. ii) Imposing
legal standards can counter activities deemed to be illegal like hacking which is a threat to safety and
critical information stored in the systems.
Arguments against the proposal :
i) Few people made arguments against the proposal for legal standards and regulations, they feel that
legal standards may stand barriers for complete utilization of full potential of the systems. It is also
argued that legal standards only restricts organization freedom and growth in a perspective. ii) Legal
standards can cause many other problems such as bad functioning of organization and thus causing
difficulty for management to the people administrating.
Counter arguments for the proposal:
i) It is argued that though the legal standards are adopted for safety of organization, but there are also

society for what it was and depended on men for guidance. Some would say a person who isn t
enlightened has characteristics of a child. Most men had the freedom to do as they pleased. Eliza
Haywood shows many hardships faced by women during this time period. In the story Fantomina she
battles the stereotype of women being dependent, A young lady of distinguished birth, beauty, wit, and

5. The Impact Of Applied Psychology On The Field Of Psychology
Consider the Impact of Applied and Behaviorist Psychology on the Field
In this paper I will discuss the impact that applied and behaviorist psychology has had on the field of
psychology. J. R. Angell at the University of Chicago is possibly one of the most advanced of the
functional psychologists, predicted that American psychology was prepared for better objectivity. In
1910, he stated that it is possible that the term consciousness would more than likely vanish from
psychology, even more than the term soul had vanished (p. 209).
The most significant impact on the field of psychology was the explication of consciousness and its
functions. During the early 20th century, psychology began to changed dramatically; Therefore,
consciousness had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Angell also viewed the introspective study of consciousness as one of the most important method of
psychological research during the mid nineteenth century (Schultz Schultz, 2012).
What persons or ideas in early behaviorism would carry out the trend that Angell predicted?
During the nineteenth century, most psychologists viewed the emergence of functionalism as being
evolutionary rather than revolutionary. Therefore, the primary difference was in the subject matter of
their study; while structuralism attempted to examine and describe regulations concerning
psychological practices, functionalism was the trend that was considered to be more teleological
challenging, and focused more on the concept of how and why.
As a reaction of structuralism, functionalism emerged during the twentieth century. In comparing
structuralism and functionalism, functionalism is believed to have a more significant role in the
development and subject matter of psychology. Although, the role of functionalism was considered to
be strong it was not exclusive because behaviorism was considered by most to be the most dominant
trend of psychology.
John B. Watson (1878 1958) was one of Angell s most promising students at the University of
Chicago. Watson (1913) eventually became founder of the behaviorist school of psychology. He
carried out the trend of Angell s theoretical prediction in early behaviorism and became the first

6. Negative Theories Of Conspiracy Theories
For decades now, scholars have been trying to analyze conspiracy theories and their history and
influence on modern day society. Many academic scholars from various disciplines have dissected the
concept of conspiracy theories, and the different perspectives are essential for someone that is
interested in researching the theories themselves. Authors Cornel Zwierlein and Beatrice de Graaf
published the article Security and Conspiracy in Modern History, which focuses on the history
discipline of conspiracy theories. Brian L. Keeley, on the other hand, focuses on the philosophical
discipline when discussing conspiracy theories in his article, Of Conspiracy Theories. When

Including those works provides the reader the ability to research the information themselves in order
to see if what is being discussed is true or not, which is beneficial because it provides credibility to
what the authors are saying within their article. The supporting evidence the authors reference in this
particular discussion of the unbalance security of the ancient Greeks is Professor Joseph Roisman s
The Rhetoric of Conspiracy in Ancient Athens. They use what he discusses in this book, which is how
conspiracies have effected ancient Athens, and incorporate it into their own article. Referencing to his
work shows the reader that the idea of conspiracy theories influencing that epoch has come from other
reliable, academic sources. When writing research articles or essays, historians always make their
various points, but make sure to back up those points with historical facts and evidence in order to
prove that what they are discussing correlates to historical events. Graaf, et. al, follow through with
this technique all throughout their article: they paraphrase certain ideas from other sources and then
expand on them in their own words. Backing up their points with other works as evidence is extremely
compelling and makes the article stronger because it provides their points with credibility, and when
they expand on the works, it shows the reader that they understood the text well

his uncle told him to run away. Then he found himself and decided to go back to Pride Rock and then
he figured out the truth that his uncle let his father die. In the movie The Lion King, the many life

death of Mufasa and running of Simba was the death of Pride Rock and Scar rose to power which was

8. How Technology Has Made On Students
In recent years, federal and local governments have been pouring overwhelming amounts of taxpayer
money into buying computers and other digital tools for K 12 education. The rationale is computers
are more important than ever, and they are gaining in popularity daily, so it is necessary to prepare our
students to use them in their daily lives. But the tools that are being invested in are not being used
effectively, and they are showing very minor benefits relative to the massive economical investment
that the public has placed in it. The developments and integration of computer science curriculum in K
12 education is better understood by observing the current impact that technology has made on
students, and exploring the perspectives of teachers and administrators on technology integration and
the expansion of computer curriculum. It is also important to understand what taxpayers and the
public expect out of public schools, and how curriculum writers and educational agencies are working
to better equip schools with resources with respect to computer education and computer science. In the
following paragraphs I will explore various articles from established individuals in both the
educational and computer science industries, and I will apply their opinions and research to the
stakeholders above. To better understand some of the articles I have selected for this paper, it is
important to understand some special terminology used to describe some aspects of the role computer

9. Fear In The Tell Tale Heart
Fear is both beneficial and dangerous. Fear offers restraints and withholds irrational acts. It hones
alertness and survival instincts, such as adrenaline. If one is stuck in an unknown dark alley, fear is the
instinct that compels them to run or take action. Fear also causes confessions. Fear of punishment, for
example, would make a naughty child confess. However, fear can also induce paranoia. Instead of
running, the person becomes paralyzed. Even though fear dispels unreasonable behavior, it also can
cloud rational thought if that fear becomes a wild obsession. If someone is always focused on one
thing because of fear, they lose sight of reality and their obsession could have harmful consequences.

The heart becomes an unhealthy and unnatural obsession as it gets louder and louder and louder. It

writes, And now was acknowledged the presence of the Red Death. He had come like a thief in the

obsession with the Red Death. So severe is this obsession, that in the end, they see it appear at the ball.

10. Social Categorization In Breakfast At Tiffany s
In psychology, social categorization is the process of classifying people into groups based on similar
characteristics. It is a natural part of social perception; it provides a mental shortcut in that it allows us
to infer traits about a person based on the traits of others in the same category (Social Categorization).
Applying the psychological idea of social categorization, Truman Capote uses the narrator to give an
impression of Holly Golightly s character, in Breakfast at Tiffany s, to be translucent and careless,
which illustrates her as achromatic, but in truth, those are the very characteristic that make her
mysterious and vibrant. Translucent is delineated by allowing light to pass through, but not seeing the
detailed image, one cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She demonstrates copious amount times throughout the book, instances of her escaping. An example
of this, is when O.J. Berman, Holly s agent, tells the narrator the story of why Holly is in New York: I
say what the hell are you doing in New York when it s Sunday and you got the test tomorrow? She
says I m in New York because I ve never been to New York. I say get your ass on a plane and get back
here, she says I don t want it. I say what s your angle, doll? She says you got to want it to be good and
I don t want it (Capote; 26). This is a perfect example of how when there is something Holly does not
want to do she runs away and in this case she ran all the way across the country. Holly does not care
who she is letting down or what previous commitments she has made, if she does not want to do it
then she will not do it. Holly is very unreliable in this case. Before California, Holly had ran away
from her husband Doc Golightly, another prime example of how undependable she is. Doc Golightly
tracked down the narrator to tell him that [Holly] knew good and well what she was doing when she
promised to be [his] wife and the mother of [his] churren. She plain broke [their] hearts when she ran
off like she done (Capote; 54). There was no reason for Holly to run off, but later Doc explains that

escape. The pictures in

11. Japanese Americans And Japanese Internment
Japanese internment camps from 1942 to 1946 were an exemplification of discrimination, many
Japanese Americans were no longer accepted in their communities after the Bombing of Pearl Harbor.
They were perceived as traitors and faced humiliation due to anti Japanese sentiment causing them to
be forced to endure several hardships such as leaving behind their properties to go an imprisoned state,
facing inadequate housing conditions, and encountering destitute institutions. The Bombing of Pearl
Harbor occurred on December 7, 1941 (Why I Love a Country that Once Betrayed Me). This led
president Roosevelt to sign the executive order 9066, which authorized the army to remove any
individual that seemed as a potential threat to the nation ( Executive Order 9066 ) This order allowed
the military to exclude any or all persons from designated areas, including the California coast.
(Fremon 31). Many Japanese opposed to leave the Pacific Coast on their own free will (Fremon 24) .
Japanese Americans would not be accepted in other areas if they moved either.Idaho s governor stated,
Japanese would be welcomed only if they were in concentration camps under guard (Fremon 35). The
camps were located in Arizona, Arkansas, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and California where
thousands of Japanese Americans eventually relocated. ( Japanese Americans at Manzanar ) The
internment lasted for 3 years and the last camp did not close until 1946. (Lessons Learned: Japanese

12. Apartheid Paragraph
Apartheid were the laws passed in South Africa that separated whites and blacks and gave whites
more control, while robbing blacks of their rights. Apartheid took place from 1948 1990, and has been
one of the most harsh and systematic violations of human rights. Unfair living conditions, tragic
events, and courageous people contributed to the end of apartheid in South Africa. The living
conditions in South Africa were very cruel during apartheid, and motivated people to end it. The
Doctor/population shows how the living conditions were better for the Afrikaners (whites) than the
Bantu (blacks). The blacks only had 1 doctor for every 44,000 people while the whites had 1 doctor
for every 400 (6). This means the whites could be treated faster and better since the doctors didn t
need to worry about so many people. The care the doctors could give would to their patients also was
better for the white people because they had more money to receive better medications. The land
allocation also proved how there were unfair living conditions towards the blacks. The Afrikaners had
better living conditions with the land accolation because they had 87% of the land with only 4.5
million people, while the Bantu had 13% of the land with 19 million people (6). This means that the
white s neighborhoods were less crowded than the blacks who had to cram into small huts. Also,
germs would spread faster in Bantu neighborhoods than Afrikaners because of how spread out or
crammed they were.

13. Case Study Of Foetal Leydig Cells
The foetal Leydig Cell population arises shortly after testicular differentiation around 7 weeks in a
human after gestation by the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hcG), this is known as the first wave
(45). These cells function, mainly to produce androgens which are essential for masculinization of the
foetus as well as in the descent of the testes in the scrotum, these androgens subsequently act as
paracrine factors within the seminiferous tubules, testosterone, is only first detected around 6 7 weeks
of gestation and peaks around 13 14 weeks (45). In cases where Leydig cells fail to develop or fail to
produce androgens, pseudohermaphrodism occurs (46). The androgen produced ensures the Wolffian
duct is maintained and there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Postnatal differentiation of human Leydig cells involves a variety of cellular cascades resulting in
mature Leydig cells. When the second wave occurs after 2 3 months of birth there is a gradual
increase in testosterone levels, the neonatal cell population during this time frame is a mix of mature
well developed Leydig cells and smaller ones (52). These cells possess well developed steroidogenic
machinery expressing both the LH receptor and key steroidogenic enzymes such as 3βHSD, P450scc,
P450c17 required for androgen synthesis (53). The neonatal androgen surge is believed to play a role
in imprinting various cell types in the prostate, hypothalamus, genetalia and kidney, in such a way
they respond appropriately to androgen stimulation during adulthood (54). The Leydig cells then
regress and testis remain dormant until puberty (55). Following a prolonged childhood period of
steroidogenic quiescence, the hypothalamus generates a pulse of GnRH around the 12th year (56). The
onset GnRH typically occurs at night and is due in part to the gradual decline in nocturnal melatonin
secretion from the pineal gland (56). This GnRH triggers release of the pituitary gonadotropin LH that
ultimately stimulates the Leydig cells to grow in number and size, whilst also maturing and
differentiating to

14. Use Of Household Wastewater And Convert It Into Usable...
Greywater systems are a way to use household wastewater and convert it into usable water for other
purposes. For example, wastewater from showers, washing machines, and dishwater can be reused,
mainly for landscape irrigation. Greywater is reusable due to the fact that the water being used does
not come in contact with feces from toilets, hence its reusability. Although greywater may look dirty, it
is clean enough for the use in the watering of a lawn or landscaping. These greywater systems have
been improved throughout the years from when the systems were first legalized in 1989 to the
advanced systems available today.

about implementing greywater system is contacting the Water Unit in the area of relevance.
Water recycling has been proven to be an efficient and successful way to create a new and reliable
source for water without compromising the health of the public. Scientists have been looking for ways
to reuse water, because as water energy demands and environmental needs grow water recycling will
play a bigger role in our overall water supply. With the help of scientific research, water recycling,
along with water conservation and efficiency will allow us to sustainably manage our important water
resources. There are many different practices that scientists have tried, but greywater systems are the
most cost efficient and easiest to be used within a household. Some of the other options to a
Greywater system would be sedimentation, biological oxidation, and filtration. Sedimentation is the
process in which water is separated from solids through the force of gravity. Wastewater is placed in a
primary sedimentation tank giving the water an opportunity to separate. This technique is the primary
treatment for sewage. Biological oxidation is where the demand of oxygen within the wastewater is
reduced, which then will also reduce the amount of active toxins within the wastewater. This
secondary treatment is widely used at sewage plants to

15. Pros And Cons Of Welding
Welding process Pros/Cons
The list of welding applications can be quite extensive. For the most part it can be broken down in
three main categories. Arc, Oxyfuel, Resistance, and Solid state welding. And the benefits of
automated welding can be in four main categories. Such benefits include, a decrease in scrap costs, a
decrease in labor costs, improvement on the quality of welds, and increased output of production.
Automated welding offers a more precise and clean weld and the welder given that it is a machine,
does not get tired or worn out and make human errors. With a company that purchases the welder,
over time the automated welder pays for itself and can run for hours on end producing the same
quality of weld and the same speed and pace that it is set for.

It is also the most common form of welding and easily learned. The equipment itself can be carried
into a confined space. The cost of shielding gas is also not required since the flux coating offers the
shielding requirements needed to sustain the arc. This process is also commonly used on most metals
and alloys.
Oxyfuel/Acetylene offers such benefits as not electrodes required for the welding process. It can be
done at all angle and used on thicker materials. The sub category abrasive water jet welding uses no
heat for the process.
Resistance Welding has a high production rate and set speed can be placed for production timing. It
can be easily automated for machines and for the most part it can be economical.
Solid State Welding uses extreme pressure to join two parenting metals together. The bond is free from
defects of the microstructure. It also uses no flux material, shielding gas or filler metals.
Although all forms of welding have their advantages, there are still disadvantages. Each one comes
with a certain downfall.

16. The Impact Tolerances Of Decision Making
Abstract
This paper is designed to help you understand and examines the impact tolerances of decision making.
It also provides an explanation for and insight into the observed differences in executive responses to
cyber threats and risk assessments. It models the relationship between security resources and risk
mitigation, and it defines the premiums that organizations expect to receive or pay for bearing or
avoiding information security risk (Anderson, 2010). In addition, this paper also discusses various
defense mechanisms and strategies that could be enabled on routers in order to mitigate these cyber
attacks.
Introduction
The iPremier Company (A): Denial of Service Attack of Jan 2007 The purpose of this paper is to
describe, model, and talk about Denial of Service (DoS) attacks and specifically as the DoS attack that
occurred at The iPremier Company on January 12, 2007. Especially nowadays, there are so many
various online security threats that are occurring and that have occurred. DoS attacks have the most
damaging and devastating effects. This puts an extreme amount of pressure on security experts to have
strong and effective techniques put in place to defend against these attacks. These particular cyber
attacks can be implemented quite diversely with a variety of tools, codes, and proper procedures.

19. School Culture Reflection Paper
Perhaps positive school culture was another area I presumed as a given. When referencing the ELCC
standard 2.0 I feel confident in my contributions and leadership skills developed throughout my tenure
at York Suburban and refined through this internship experience. Again the big ah ha in this arena was
actually identifying what I was seeing be played out. The Pennsylvania Department of Education
clearly defines the concept of missions, vision and values (See Appendix A for Concepts of Mission,
Vision and Values) and York Suburban has a highly visible mission statement. We have this mission
statement posted in all classrooms including kindergarten classes where students can not quite read
them yet. I don t think many people in the general public can see the true value in school culture, but
appreciate when it is positive. Our district boasts a clear mission and vision and shared values are
communicated through a newly adopted tag line: A Community of Encouragement, A Culture of
Excellence.
Because climate and culture are so closely related I like to make the analogy that climate is the talk of
a building and culture is the walk. Often there is a positive climate, but the culture is lagging. When
leadership has a strong vision for both climate and culture, then the building as a whole is talking the
talk and walking the walk. I continue to view climate and culture through two lenses, and understand
that the lines are often blurred between the two. In open schools where climate and culture are strong,
new leadership is tasked with getting a pulse on the existing situation, but with some explicit details as
to enable the continuation of both. New leadership in a building with a less than positive climate and
culture is tasked with identifying the missing elements and diligently establishing a vision to begin to
develop a positive and effective open school. Both new leaders will need time. Both situations require
a process. Knowing the importance of all these pieces to the puzzle will enable me to either model
what I ve observed, or maintain depending on weather I am a principal in a district similar to mine or
very different. It will be a challenge for me to keep the process slow and steady if much

The formula for measuring concentrations (Molarity) is moles/ Volume. The molarity of the diluted
sample is 3.5 x 10^ 6 M and the volume is .005 Liters. Then solve for moles by multiplying the two
knowns the product is 1.75 x 10^ 8 moles. All existing moles came from the .001 Liters of the
unknown sample. The moles should then be divide them the volume, which is 1 ml. The final answer
of the unknown concentration is 1.75 x 10^ 5 M.
Absorbance and concentration are directly related. So if .1 M has an absorbance of .26, then a solution
with 0.2 M must have an absorbance of 0.52.
The formula to convert absorbance to transmittance is Transmittance = 10^ absorbance. The equation
would be 10^ .85 and the transmittance would be .1412 or 14.12% Transmitted.

22. Definitions Of Probation And Probation Essay
Classifications of Probation According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, at year end of 2012, more
than 4.7 million adults were under some form of community probation in the United States (Bonczar
and Maruschak, bjs.gov). With so many adults on probation, one could only ask how they all are
supervised. With the criminal justice system already bursting at the seams with offenders, its main
objective is to keep offenders out of this already exhausted system. Probation, also called intermediate
sanctions, is designed to do just that. Prison terms may be too harsh for some offenders, while
traditional probation may be too lenient for others. Intermediate sanctions bridge the gap between
prison and traditional probation (Allen and Latessa 106). Also, intermediate sanctions help the
criminal justice system to tailor the punishment to fit the crime (Allen and Latessa 106). More often
than not, intermediate sanctions will be coupled with another type of punishment, such as restitution
or fines ( What is Intermediate Punishments? ).With a variety of options available through
intermediate sanctions to hold offenders accountable for their actions, each provide the common
thread of crime deterrence. Intermediate sanctions can be best describe by imagining a ladder. The
bottom of the ladder is traditional probation and the top is prison, the rungs in between are
intermediate sanctions ( What is Intermediate Punishments? ). Each have their own range of severity

authors write of the wind from her own experience of living in California and from her own

physicists, to generally everyone becomes unhappy and uncomfortable during the winds. She does not
write of how the wind caused fire to ravage the shrublands, but she writes of the symptoms it inflicts
on the people. Didion mentions all the after effects of the wind and the harm it can do like inflict
paranoia. She mentions how the fear stricken victims of southern California are paranoid like her
neighbor that refuses to leave the house and her husband who roams with a machete. Didion s
personification of the wind focuses on a fearful and distant light. In contrast, Thomas approaches the
Santa Ana winds as a routinely destructive awe. Though Thomas focuses more on the fire caused by
the wind, then the wind itself, Thomas casts a soft light on the winds. She believes that the winds are
not destructive, but that humans are and the winds only do what they must. She and her neighbors
gather around and watch the brushfire destroy a hill in the distance, a casual pastime like watching
stars. Thomas casually explains in paragraph three of Brush Fire , the burning of chaparral during
these winds is normal . She implies that the winds cause of destroying the Southern California land is

26. The Civilizations Of Ancient Civilization
Civilization, derived from the latin word civis meaning citizen , or simply someone who lives in a city.
However, what is the difference between a group of people who live in a town and our modern
concept of civilization. To find the answer to that question we can turn to the civilizations of ancient
times. The beginning of civilization as we know it began in the Neolithic era. This era began with a
very distinct change to the way of life, from the old way of migrating constantly to wherever the food
roams to settling down in one area and growing food to sustain oneself. Yet, the first civilizations were
more than just people who stayed in the same place, grew their own food, and relied on water and
shelter. They had something that made them standout from the people around them. Each ancient
civilization had different values and cultures that led to the diverse institutions founded by these
ancient civilizations. The first ancient civilization of the Neolithic era is that of Mesopotamia.
Mesopotamia comes from the greek words meso , in between, and potami meaning river. This refers to
the location of the region of Mesopotamia which lies between the Tigress and Euphrates Rivers. The
first urban society of Mesopotamia is Sumer. One value of Sumer and of Mesopotamia is the love of

Julius Caesar, and his power; and finally, Martin Luther, and his influence. I feel that in this course I
learned more about people in history than I have ever learned before. These people I am discussing
have made tremendous impacts on the world and have allowed so much growth in western
civilization. The topics I have picked to discuss are the most important to me because they symbolize,
in my mind, eras, and the great changes of the world, mainly through mindset and belief. These five
topics show how people are needed to make changes, and to make history, and how the ideas that are
brought before these times have lasted the years. The first major thing that I learned was about Homer;
who he was and how his writings helped shape the Greek spirit and Greek religion (Perry, Chase and
Jacob). I feel that Homer, and his works, such as Iliad and The Odyssey , were very important because
they allowed a transformation in the views of an individual. Homer placed the individual as another
force of life that has the power to change events and determine their own lives, not just the gods, in his
works. Homer s view of the eternal order of the world and his conception of the individual striving for

Education is not something which the teacher does, but... is a natural process which develops
spontaneously in the human being. Maria Montessori
Maria Montessori
John Dewey, Jean Piaget, Body Bode, Ralph Tyler and William Kilpatrick are just a few of the
scholars who dedicated their lives in a labor of love to analyze, assess, identify, recognize and
establish curriculum theories on how students learn, should be taught, what needs to be taught and
how it should be evaluated. In a field dominated by men, Maria Montessori initiated an unprecedented
innovative scientific approach to learning called the Montessori method of learning. Maria believed
that children develop naturally. The Montessori Method is based on how children develop naturally.
Maria Tecla Artemisia Montessori was born August 31, 1870, in Chiaravalle, Italy. Her father was a
civil servant and mother was a knowledgeable woman who a had a fondness for reading. Through out
Maria academic schooling she received high honors. After graduating, she enrolled at Regio Istituto
Tecnico Leonardo da Vinci (Morrison, 2014). There she studied mathematics biology and languages.
Maria s success at the Istituto unleashed her desire for a career in medicine. Despite the acceptance
denial into Rome University medical school. Living in a time, where gender roles were established for
men and women, her father did not support her

30. Analysis Of Mise En Scene In The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari
A scene analysis of Cesare s awakening
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari by Robert Wiene
In The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Robert Wiene cleverly uses mise en scene and cinematography to add
to the eeriness and originality in the scene of Cesare s awakening. The scene is important to the
overall film because it instills the viewer to believe that there will be a connoting between Cesare and
Alan. The purpose can be seen in the reverse shot sequence at the end of the scene in the dialogue
How long do I have to live? Till dawn tomorrow. The scene is based highly on use of expressionistic
credit design and stylization of acting through exaggerations. Through the theatrical design set, Robert
Wiene builds tension and drama to the scene and draws the views attention to the constructed nature
of the film.
The awakening scene in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is filmed in a theatrical manner, where the set is
on a stage, with distorted curtains and secretive shadows. The scene is carefully centered in the middle
to make the viewer less distracted of movement within the frame. The stage curtains work in favor of
the framing and like the clever set; the costume and makeup fit the bizarre arrangement and design of
the scene. The men in the audience are all dressed in gloomy and flowing long cloaks. To accentuate
Cesare s tall and lanky figure he is dressed in a fitting black leotard and his dark character is obscure
in darkness. His dead like face is covered thickly in heavy make up and his expression is as a warning
to the viewer. Caligari, on the other hand, has an eccentric look with crazy white hair and glasses.
When looking at the understanding of the inner frame in the scene, Cesare s expressive actions
contribute significantly. The state of trance is revealed by his sleek figure and androgynous
appearance in contrast to the other characters that are moving unusually quickly. By repeated close
ups of Cesare s hypnotic expression and tranquil figure forces the viewer to identify with him and
allows us to understand that he is restrained to react only from Dr. Caligari s commands. Cesare is
shot from a high angle ushering the viewer to join into his shocking state. The close up of Cesare s
exaggerated dark eyes, pallid

31. Glass Castle
As I read the Glass Castle, the way Rose Mary behaves, thinks and feels vary greatly and differently
throughout the memoir. The immediate question that pops up in my mind is to ask whether Rose Mary
carries some sort of mental illness. Fortunately, given the hints and traits that are relevant to why Rose
Mary lives like that in the memoir, we, the readers, are able to make some diagnosis and assumptions
on the kind of mental illness she may carry. To illustrate, one distinctive example is when Rose Mary
blames Jeannette for having the idea to accept welfare. Once you go on welfare, it changes you. Even
if you get off welfare, you never escape the stigma that you were a charity case. (188). In my opinion,
Rose Mary is being nonsense and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With all these being said, it s most likely that Rose Mary carries manic depression since she
potentially has something wrong with her ways of thinking and behaving. By definition, manic
depression is otherwise known as bipolar disorder in modern times. It is a brain disorder that causes
unusual shifts in mood, energy, behavior, thinking and the ability to carry out day to day tasks.
(Introduction: Bipolar Disorder) This overall definition clearly supports the argument that Rose Mary
carries bipolar disorder. Often times in the memoir, Rose Mary changes her mind and mood about
doing something very quickly without any foreshadow. This brief explanation of bipolar disorder
shows that Rose Mary possesses most of the traits of having bipolar disorder. From a greater
perspective, bipolar disorder has two very distinctive phases the manic phase and depressive phase.
During a manic phase, patients are often jumping quickly from one idea to the next (Melinda and
Jeanne), feeling energetic and having unrealistic beliefs about one s abilities or powers (Melinda and
Jeanne); during a depressive phase, patients are often feeling hopeless, sad, empty (Melinda and
Jeanne) or irritable and unable to

32. Federalism And The Separation Of Powers
Federalism is a way of organizing a nation so that two or more levels of government have formal
authority over the same area and people, ensuring that one does not become too powerful and aids in
the separation of powers. Liberty is a state of freedom within a society from oppressive restrictions
imposed by authority on one s way of life, behavior, or political views. Although these two political
science terms are different, they correlate and interact with one another in the American Government
and are still relevant to contemporary policy issues faced today. James Madison s The Federalist No.
47 doctrine exemplifies this: In order to form correct ideas on this important subject, it will be proper
to investigate the sense in which the preservation of liberty requires that the three great departments of
power should be separate and distinct.
Madison based the concept of federalism on the French lawyer Montesquieu s theory of the separation
of powers. This theory states: Were the executive power not to have a right of restraining the
encroachments of the legislative body, the latter would become despotic; for as it might arrogate to
itself what authority it pleased, it would soon destroy all the other powers. Madison, along with the
other Founding Fathers, took heed to this warning and created the three branches (executive,
legislative, and judicial). Although this system does provide a distinct separation, it does not call for
absolute separation. Instead, the

The song Jungle by X Ambassadors has a more literal correlation with the book. Specifically with
chapter eight. Gift for the Darkness because jack leaves angrily into the jungle after no one follows his
footsteps in trying to impeach Ralph. Who thinks Ralph oughtn t to be chief? (Golding 127). Asked
jack to the boys and after no one raised their hand, jack started to cry and he ended with, I m going off
by myself. He can catch his own pigs. Anyone who wants to hunt when I do can come too. (Golding

34. Thomas Hardy s A Trampwoman s Tragedy and Lord Byron s...
Lord Byron s When we two parted and Thomas Hardy s A Trampwoman s Tragedy have in common a
lover s regret for love lost. However, the main narrators in these poems are very different and the
circumstances in their poems show a lot about the difference that social class and gender make in the
love lives seen in When we two parted and A Trampwoman s Tragedy . Looking at the tone, narrator
gender, and setting of these poems the reader can see how a single general theme, regret over a lost
lover, gets explored in very different ways.
Both poems are in first person narration which helps lend a higher degree of credibility to the
description of the intimate details and emotions. While the poems are in first person, the tone ... Show

Setting plays an important role in both poems. Setting in these poems helps the reader picture and
dramatize the events happening. Lord Byron s poem doesn t give a specific location but does tell us at
what time of day it is: The dew of the morning / Sunk chill on my brow (9 10). It tells the reader it s
morning, so they possibly met in the early morning hours before sunrise to not be seen, and the dew
suggests that it s spring time. Hardy s poem changes settings several times throughout: From Wynyard
s Gap the livelong day, / the livelong day, / We beat afoot the northward way (1 3). They started on a
twenty mile hike to take them to: The inn that beamed thereby (16). While traveling to these small
inns they would stop in a tavern, which is the main tone changing setting of the poem: The tavern tells
the gloomy tale (73). The tavern is where her lover kills Johnny after her cruel joke. Once everyone
has either been killed or passed away she is left to Haunting the Western Moor. (104) She is alone with
no lover, no friends and no child in a mossy graveyard like field to live out the rest of her days.

35. Comparing Theories of Mathematical Development
For this assignment I will describe two theories of mathematical development. I will discuss Jean
Piaget s and Tina Bruce s theories about how children s understandings of mathematical develop. Jean
Piaget s research led him to believe that we develop by taking in information, which is then processed
by the brain and as a result of this our behaviour changes. He stated that there are stages of
development that children move through. The ages are approximate but the sequence is the same for
everyone. According to http://ponce.inter.edu/cai/tesis/lmrivera/cap2.htm The stages of cognitive
development that Piaget distinguished are: 1. Sensorimotor (0 2 years of age) children begin to use

But whereas Athey believed that schemas dominate children s play as they explore, experiment and
the way they learn, Piaget believed that children progress through three stages of learning when they
are absorbing events into existing schemas they already have. Athey developed Piaget theory and
showed how children forms of thought develop through experiences and developed a framework for
teaching which extends schema through curriculum experiences. In my placement the teacher planned
a group activity that all the children could take part in to learn about a certain subject which was a
write up on the counting cars activity that they did the week before. Children and their partners
created their own piece of work that was added to a class group display on a wall. The work included
drawing of the cars, tables and charts recording the results, diagrams and short sentences on the
activity. The wall represented the group as a classroom project. The nature of this kind of activity
demonstrates the sharing of information, which can be a key component of learning and links well
with Piaget s theory as it shows that children think in symbolic form as the diagrams were written up
as a symbolic form of a tally chart and every tally mark represented a vehicle. According to Squire G
children become totally absorbed and will spend a great deal of time carrying out related activities as
they develop a particular schema. For example in placement children love to

36. What If Apple Is Wrong By Brian Bergstein Analysis
In his article, What If Apple is Wrong, technology journalist for MIT Brian Bergstein questions the
decisions tech giant Apple made after refusing to give the FBI a backdoor into iPhones data. In April
of this year, Apple refused the FBI s request to open up the iPhone of Syed Rizwan Farook, who shot
and killed 14 people in San Bernadino, California. Bergstein opens by relating the story of Devon
Godfrey, who was shot in 2010. After using security camera footage to wrongly arrest the suspect on
charge of murder, Godfrey s iPhone revealed that the murderer was someone entirely different. Using
this as a springboard for his line of questioning, Bergstein ponders whether the case would have been
solved without access to victim s iPhone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He first points out that since their release, iPhones have replaced a lot of the evidence that was used in
the past, such as cameras and notepads. Logically, this would mean that investigations are more
difficult than they were in the past, because investigators have lost sources of evidence. This also
supports the argument that authorities should have access to iPhones, because everything on them
were accessible in different forms in the past. Bergstein then attempts to strengthen his argument by
using the opinions of other important figures. First, he quotes Cyrus Vance Jr., the District Attorney in
Manhattan, who thinks the federal government should pass a law that would require the makers of
smartphone operating systems to be able to give data to investigators. Bergstein wants the reader to
see that someone with a lot of experience in the matter, shares his opinion. I think this also hurts his
argument slightly, in that he picked a person with an obvious bias towards his cause. Bergstein himself
recognizes this, and so he brings in another authority figure s opinion: Apple s CEO, Tim Cook.
According to Bergstein, Tim Cook conceded that smartphones could impede justice. I think it was an
intelligent decision to balance the source of opinions he included in his article, and although the reader
knows Tim Cook disagrees overall that smartphones should be accessible by government officials, he
does agree that Bergstein and Vance have a

Cost benefit, cost effectiveness and cost utility analyses are forms of economic evaluation which are
useful in health economics for comparing costs and allocating resources. Health economics is widely
relevant to governments and the health sector in implementation of new policy, as it concerns the
allocation of resources in the context of a limited budget, or scarcity . Economic evaluation is a
potential tool for setting priorities in health, though it is only one of many potential criteria, including
overall budget and public attitudes and wants. Economic evaluation is already in use in some settings,
such as in pharmaceutical company proposals for government subsidisation, but there is room for
expansion across the field of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Changing factors such as aging populations and new technologies becoming available are increasing
expectations from people throughout the world, and decision makers must make rational choices to
maximise benefits to population health whilst working with limited resources. Yothasamut et al (2009)
summarise this by observing that health care resources in every setting are always constrained, while
unlimited demand is observed . The best choices in the context of economics are the ones which
maximise utility (individual satisfaction through consumption of goods) and welfare, the sum utility
experienced by all individuals in society. Decision makers often have to seek satisfactory rather than
optimal solutions, also known as working with bounded rationality (Simon 1957 in Williams et al
2008), as it is important to pursue both efficiency and equity in the funding of health care. Therefore,
it may be unsuitable to fund the most cost effective option if it sacrifices the equal distribution of
benefits. Research in health economics can take a normative or positive approach and this reflects the
balance needed between cost control and equity when making economic decisions. Positive economic
research and analysis is concerned with how things are and seeks to explain economic phenomena,
whilst normative economic research and analysis is concerned with how things ought to be and relies

41. Intervention For Smoking Cessation Of Smoking
Intervention for Smoking Cessation
The most important intervention for this patient is to quit smoking. This would be very difficult for a
person who smoke for more than 20 years to quit. I would explain to the patient that the best way to
treat her emphysema is to stop smoking. First of all, I will assess on what this patient knows about
smoking cessation. Some smokers may not have a correct information and positive attitude about quit
smoking, which could be the reasons that contribute to the failure of previous attempts of quitting. I
would explain to her that tobacco smoking is responsible for 90 percent of all cases of COPD,
including emphysema (MacGill, 2015). Normally, when particles enter the lung, these particles lands
on a thin layer of mucus inside the lungs. The little hairs, called cilia, help to move mucus and the
particles from the lungs upward toward the throat. This process allows the mucus to be expelled or
swallowed (American Thoracic Society, 2015). Coughing is another way the lungs protect themselves
from irritants in bronchial tubes (American Thoracic Society, 2015). Inhalation of smoke, over times,
will destroy cilia, and they no longer remove mucus effectively. Subsequently, mucus accumulates
inside the lungs causing irritation and coughing (American Thoracic Society, 2015). The most
effective way to stop coughing is to stop smoking.
I would also point out that the patient is developing a condition called Leukoplakia as evidence by
