Positive And Negative Impact Of Globalization
Globalization is truly a complex phenomenon. It indicates that the world today is getting smaller,
people from all around the world are interconnected than before. Globalization is driven by a
combination of economic, technological, sociocultural, and political factors. Jan Aart Scholte states
that Some people have associated globalization with progress, prosperity and peace. For others,
however, the word has conjured up deprivation, disaster and doom. In these paper I will discuss
positive and negative impact of globalization on society: at social, cultural, economical and political
level.
Can we expect a growing homogenization of culture globally what george ritzer (1996) It is true that
globalization can affect people s identities and cultural values; which can be altered significantly.
Although, at the same time globalization is expanding the knowledge of foreign cultures. Today s
young generations are developing an identity that gives them a sense of belonging to a worldwide
culture, they are aware of trends, styles, events and facts that are a part of the global culture. The
media such as television and Internet, are allowing user to pass on the message instantly anywhere in
the world and makes it easy for person to adopt different culture. For instance, the individual from non
western cultures, who are altering their own cultural values and beliefs, and accepting western culture
in response to globalization. Article in Postcard: New Delhi propose, women in India prefer wearing
western clothings instead of sarees, Furthermore, in India at the dinner table, they serve pizza, pasta
and noodles, instead of traditional Indian food. At the same time, westerners adopting eastern culture;
they are exploring the yoga and meditation. In a globalized world, you may see McDonalds and
Starbucks everywhere in the world. Nevertheless, the same globalization escort various nation
cuisines across the world to explore. Think of all the quality Thai, Chinese, Indian or Mexican
restaurants arising across the world over the past two decade. I think the next generation is adopting
the foremost concept and ideas of different culture. Additionally, globalization allows us to explore
different religions, which we

The Roles Of The Human System Of Emotions
While there were theories surrounding the human system of emotions as was aforementioned, these
concepts were still known to be speculative, and the inner workings of the human body as a whole
remained enigmatic for centuries. Therefore the notion that any one person could harbor the ability to
sway the passions that were supposedly dictated by humours, which were believed to be stagnant and
involuntary, was mysterious and menacing. Roach encapsulates the fantastical and suspicious
perception of actors as held by those of the pneumatic ideal,
His expressions could transform his physical identity, inwardly and outwardly...His motions could
transform the air through which he moved, animating it in waves of force rippling outward from a ...

A figurehead of the abject criticism of restoration era theatre was Jeremy Collier, a non juror bishop
who famously wrote A Short View of the Immorality and Profaneness of the English Stage, in which
he discusses the deleterious effects of depicting unscrupulous acts,
Young people particularly, should not entertain themselves with a Lewd Picture; especially when tis
drawn by a Masterly Hand. For such a Liberty may probably raise those Passions which can neither be
discharged without Trouble, nor satisfyed without a Crime,
In this distressed excerpt, Collier explains that if a young audience member were to see the lascivious
acts such as those portrayed on stage that it would stir up the passions inside him that would compel
him to act similarly or mirror such behavior, and that these desires could not be satisfied without
committing a malfeasance. Collier s fears bear similarity to the pneumonic idea presented earlier, that
the actor was able to manipulate their own thoughts and feelings and transfer them to the spectator,
and ultimately [alter] their moral natures. talk about this more Throughout his pamphlet Collier cites
various religious doctrine and constitutions to express that entertainment was not a pastime or place
for people of piety, and that actors have never been seen or treated as worthy beings, but rather

Design of A Rectangular Patch Antenna using Computer Simulation Technology (CST)
Nik Nurul Azuin Bt Nik Abdul Rahman, ID No.: 2010702499, GROUP: EE2405A
Abstract A design of a microstrip rectangular patch antenna is presented in this paper. The proposed
antenna was simulated using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) CAD Package and design on a
microstrip with relative permittivity of 4.6, and substrate and copper thickness of 0.5 mm and 0.035
mm respectively with 4.5 GHz of frequency.

The patch antenna, microstrip transmission line and ground plane are made of high conductivity metal
(typically copper). The patch is of length L, width W, and sitting on top of a substrate (some dielectric
circuit board) of thickness h with permittivity. The thickness of the ground plane or of the microstrip is
not critically important. Typically the height h is much smaller than the wavelength of operation, but
not much smaller than 0.05 of a wavelength.

Essay about The Important Role of Lobbyists in Politics...
Public policy is the course of actions taken by the government that includes laws, plans, actions and
the behavior of the government. The most effective way to influence public policy would be to lobby
for the interest group that supports the problem that needs to be addressed by society and the
government. Interest groups are organizations of people with shared goals to influence specific public
policies, such as the National Rifle Association wanting to protect gun rights. The representatives for
these particular interest groups are called lobbyists, whom are registered to inform the Clerk of the
House and the Secretary of the Senate of the issue or laws being addressed, what agencies/branches of
the government are being contacted, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, lobbyist s information must be legitimate and neutral, for that misrepresentation of facts
and extreme bias may cause them to permanently lose access to politicians and end their careers. In
addition to the lobbyist s individual objective, they are also trusted in other law making processes.
Lobbyists are invited to congressional trials to testify different sides to the issue currently being
discussed. Their information provides opposing or supporting arguments, so being well prepared and
honest is important in aiding vital legislations to be passed or denied with their help. It is also shown
how lobbyists and interest groups are essential through the general law making process. In fact, their
research teams helps congress and are responsible for drafting over half of all the legislations. The
duties and responsibilities of these lobbyists are fulfilled by their devotion to hard and honest work
with people from all levels of government and society. In order to be an employed lobbyist, they must
spend more than 20 percent of their time serving the interest of their clients. Thus, they are often
working forty to eighty hours a week with politicians and the community to research, illustrate, and
persuade their positions. Because lobbyists are usually ex politicians, they have friends in congress or
within the executive branch that they are able to meet casually for parties and dinners to

Essay on Amillennialism
Amillennialism Amillenianism literally means no millennium. This name stems from the disbelief that
there will be a literal thousand year period called the golden age, either before or after the return of
Christ (Gregg 459). This view unlike the others, is not a new concept, even though the name is new. In
fact, R.B. Strimple claims this particular view has been around as long as Christianity (83).
Amillennialists generally assume that all millennium prophecies are fulfilled in between the first and
the second coming of Christ (Gregg 459). The time subsequent to the first coming and prior to the
second coming is known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Believing that the two resurrections in Revelation 20:4 6 are occring at the same time is blasphemy
and heretical in my opinion. This passage clearly confims a different timing for each, first resurrection
at the first coming, second resurrection at the second coming. This alone makes me mad. Along with
the resurrection wickedness, amillenialists will disagree with the thousand year reign on earth.
Revelation 20:3 speaks about Satan being locked away in the abyss so that he cannot tempt or deceive
the nations earth. I personally believe that God will reign in both heaven and on earth during the
thousand year period.
Dispensational Premillennialism Dispensationalism is a period of time during which man is tested in
respect to his obedience to some specific revelation of the will of God (Pentecost 391). There are three
components of dispensationalism that I need to go over before I get deeper into the theology of it;
first, dispensationalism consistently interprets the Bible literally. I have found that other views go
literal and symbolic, depending on the subject, but not dispensationalism. Second, dispensationalism
distinguishes between the church and Israel. This kind of approach allows us to understand that at one
time, God was dealing with Israel, but now He is dealing with the church, and one day He will deal
with Israel again. Lastly, dispensationalism has to do with understanding God s ultimate purpose; that

Grief And Pain
According to Leming and Dickerson (2011) Grief and pain is a common part of everyone s life and
should be expected at one point or another. As I once stated, there comes a time in life where the
helper will need to be comforted, the provider will need to be tended to and the strong will need to be
strengthened. For me, this time came while I was at the age of 21 years old. After I married, I became
with child and shortly found out that I was carrying twins. This was one of the most memorable times
of my life, I had never experience such joy and happiness; I felt as if God had favorably smiled upon
me. I experienced a very healthy pregnancy and carried my twin s full term. No complications, no
deficiencies and no unexpected pain, life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not thinking much of it at the time due to the fact I had just exerted all of my energy bringing them
into this world, I allowed the nurses to perform their post delivery duties. Not a few minutes hence,
the doctor delivered my baby girl and boy to me and told me that I had given birth to stillborn
children. In layman s terms, they were deceased upon delivery. How could this be, I asked myself.
Instantly I was numb, I had no feeling toward anything. Although this was a painful event for me, the
real grief did not set in until about 30 days later. I remembered reading that to understand the nature of
a loss as it relates to a fetus, we must remember that relationship of a child and parent starts way
before the birth (Leming and Dickerson, 2011). Also, they stated that no matter where in the life cycle
death occurs, it is never easy for the survivor to make the adjustment. Well, for me losing a baby
before it even had a chance to experience what it was like to inhale their first breath of fresh air
seemed completely unfair. I found myself upset with God; and felt as if He failed me. In my mind, this
could not be happening to me. I am used to helping others get through rough times in life, now I find
myself on the opposite end of the spectrum. Instead of comforting others, I needed to be comforted
which what Leming and Dickerson (2011) emphasized to their readers. My friends constantly tried to
encourage me with Romans 8:28, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those
who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (King James Version). This was the last
thing I wanted to hear at this time as it made me further resent the God that I

The Cardiovascular System Responses During Submaximal...
INTRODUCTION
Information on cardiovascular differences between the sexes is necessary for allied health
professionals to best adapt rehabilitation exercises for the patients with cardiovascular diseases
(CVD). The cardiovascular system has to adjust in response to metabolic demands of working muscles
during exercise. Gender related differences on how the body meets the increased demands while still
maintaining homeostatic arterial blood pressure has been widely researched (CITE). There is some
support that vaso regulation differences are due to female sex hormones (estrogen, in particular
estradiol), and less sympathetic nervous system influence when compared to males (CITE).
Additionally, body composition (higher muscle mass in males) and substrate utilisation (more lipid
substrate utilisation in females) have been found to have significant effects on the cardiovascular
system responses during submaximal exercise (CITE). Upper body exercise has been found to create
more stress on the cardiovascular system compared to lower body exercise (CITE). The primary
causes of death in the Australian population are directly or indirectly related to cardiovascular diseases
(CVD) (CITE). Although, men are at greater risk for developing CVD, women have been found to
have a higher morbidity rate post surgery (CITE). Additionally, the presentation of symptoms for
female differs to that of their male counterparts (CITE). Thus, further investigation to better
understand the differences

The Zodiac Killer Case Revisited
The Zodiac Killer Case Revisited
I. List of crimes
The horrors in California began on Friday, December 20, 1968 in the city of Vallejo when sixteen year
old Betty Lou Jensen and seventeen year old David Faraday were killed while out on a date. At the
time, according to Haugen (2011), they had driven to a remote lover s lane on Lake Herman Road. It
was while they were there that a vehicle stopped nearby and the driver got out, shot out the rear
passenger window of David Faraday s station wagon, and then shot the left rear tire. The man shot
Faraday behind the left ear, while Betty Lou Jensen was running for the road. Unfortunately, she was
unable to escape and was shot in the back five times by the assailant before he fled the scene.
July 4, 1969 when Darlene Ferrin and Michael Mageau were followed by an unknown vehicle, they
pulled into a parking lot overlooking Blue Rock Springs Golf Course. Ferrin parked, turned off the
headlights, and she and Mageau, listened to the radio. According to Haugen, a car stopped near them,
paused for a while, then left, going towards Vallejo. About five minutes later, the vehicle came back
and parked behind Ferrin s Corvair. Leaving the headlights on, a man carrying a flashlight got out of
the car and approached Ferrin s vehicle. Thinking it was a law enforcement officer, Mageau got out
his identification, but the man pulled a gun and shot both Mageau and Ferrin several times. The
victims were badly injured but Mageau was able to give a

The Von Hippel-Lindau Syndrome
Topic: Von Hippel Landau Disease
Symptoms: Include a discussion of symptoms in individuals heterozygous vs. homozygous for the
defective gene if appropriate.
Von Hippel Lindau syndrome is caused by heterozygous mutation in the VHL gene
The symptoms of von Hippel Lindau syndrome are angiomata of the retina (i.e. a tumor consisting of
a mass of blood vessels in the retina) and hemangioblastoma (i.e. a tumor) of the cerebellum. There
also may be a tumor Hemangioma in the spinal cord. Pheochromocytoma occurs in some patients.
This is indicated by one or more of the following symptoms:
Skin sensations
Flank pain
Elevated heart rate
Elevated blood pressure,
Palpitations
Anxiety often resembling that of a panic attack
Diaphoresis (excessive sweating)
Headaches
Pallor
Weight loss
The most common symptoms are headache, excessive sweating, and increased heart rate. The
combination of hypertension with angioma may lead to subarachnoid hemorrhage (i.e. bleeding in the
brain).
People with the syndrome also commonly develop cysts in the kidneys, pancreas, and genital tract.
About 10% of people with the disease develop noncancerous tumors in the ear which can lead to loss
of hearing in the ear as well as ringing in the ears (tinnitus) and loss of balance. (Genetics Home Ref.

The Importance Of Humility In Beowulf
Humility is an important lesson all successful people must eventually learn. The epic poem Beowulf
written sometime around 1000 A.D. follows the adventure of a great warrior on his quest to greatness.
Throughout the poem he is taught that humility is the key to success. Beowulf comes to the land of the
Danes to defeat the monster Grendel. Beowulf accomplishes his task and conquers both Grendel and
the monster s mother. After claiming victory, Beowulf earns glory, honor, and respect. The great
warrior then returns home to become the king later in his life. Beowulf learns throughout the story that
arrogance has consequences and being humble will grant respect from others. Beowulf changes
throughout the story ultimately becoming a humble warrior. Beowulf learns humility when fighting
Grendel, when fighting Grendel s mother, from hearing legends and from his past.
Beowulf is humbled after fighting Grendel. Before fighting Grendel Beowulf was over confident and
cocky. He believed that he was the greatest and did not realize the extent of the challenge of fighting
Grendel. Although Beowulf won the battle he did not kill him in the mead hall as he had intended.
Before Beowulf fought Grendel he thought that he could alone... purge all evil from [the] hall... /[and
is so great that he needed] no weapons and [feared] none. (431 434). During the fight no matter how
hard... [Beowulf] held him he still pulled free (928). Grendel escaped,/ But wounded as he was he
could flee to his den (819 820). Beowulf did not have the skill set to kill Grendel as he first predicted,
he seriously injured him but did not kill him in the mead hall. Beowulf learned that not everything is
as easy as it may seem. The result of the fight humbled Beowulf. Fighting Grendel gave Beowulf
perspective and taught him not to act egotistical, and to never underestimate your opponent. The
lesson Beowulf learns is reflected in his actions throughout the rest of the story. When praised for his
accomplishments, Beowulf did not boast or act superior, he accepted his loses and celebrated his wins
among the rest of the Danes.
When Grendel s mother arrives to torment the Danes, seeking vengeance for her son s death, Beowulf
s fight with Grendel s mother

Colonial Literature Summary
Colonial Literature began with the work of English adventurers and colonists in the New World
benefit the readers in the country. Some of these early works reached the level of literature, as in the
truthful account of his adventures by Captain John Smith and the journalistic histories of John
Winthrop and William Bradford in New England. From the beginning, however, the literature of New
England was also directed to the improvement and instruction of the colonists themselves, intended to
direct them in the ways of the gods. The first literature work was published in the Puritan colonies,
was the Bay Psalm Book, and the whole effort of the divines wrote furiously to set forth their view.
Among them was Roger Williams and Thomas Hooker; who was to defend and promote visions of the
religious state. They set forth their visions in effect the first express the concept of national destiny in
a series of passion histories. Then as time went forward, you had the New Nation or New literature.
And that was basically the approach of the American Revolution and the achievement of the actual
independence of the United States was a time of intellectual activity as well as social and the
economic change. The men who were the chief molders of the new state included excellent writers,
such as Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. They were well supported by others such as Philip

Ralph Waldo Emerson s Nature Analysis
Live in the sunshine. Swim in the sea. Drink the wild air Ralph Waldo Emerson. Emerson s quote
enlightens the idea of transcendentalism. Declaring to enjoy nature for what it is , to value the idea of
having the freedom of it and to realize there is more to life than what you are living. In the essay,
Nature , by Ralph Waldo Emerson he finds himself challenged by the honesty of nature, which
compares to Chris McCandless adventure in the book, Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer. First, one must
enjoy things as how they come. Emerson explains this feat in his essay by shadowing there is more
than what meets the eye to nature. His purpose for thinking this is shown in this, Nature never wears a

everything (Krakauer22). Displaying that Krakauer is referring to McCandless trip. How one thing
could change someone so much. The honesty of nature shaped McCandless as he was on this

how both feel like one should use the land to its full potential. Also, the two excerpts are similar for

can overlook how extraordinary nature is. It wasn t until McCandless set out into the wild that he

Age Of Exploration Dbq Essay
Age Of Exploration: DBQ Throughout the course of history, a civilization may gain benefit from the
demolition of another. This course of action was the driving force of the Age of Exploration. What the
Spanish called discovery was really the downfall and destruction of a thriving civilization, only to be
rebuilt for the use of trans continental trade in the form of colonization. The survivors would be
enslaved and their neighbors would soon follow. The Age of Exploration can be remembered as a time
of new discovery, trade, and prosperity, but only the Europeans experienced the brighter side of things.

To truly make the America s one for the Europeans, the land would have to be completely clear in
order for the European plan of action to take effect. The cities would have already been ridden with
disease, which said in The Broken Spears, the document described smallpox from an Aztec point of
view, and the impact it had on killing everyone in the entire region. and demolition with nothing left,
the Europeans simply took over without any effort and began changing the politics of the

Charles V, he tried to change their religion by destroying the statues and temples. Thought he would
not fully convert, according to Cortes, they would not perform any more sacrifices in his presence,
merely because he was there. But the real reason is because there was nothing to sacrifice with
because he has removed it from their land, and if there was, they would probably be too intimidated to

methods. The communities were slowly being forced to use European forms of agriculture, and means

The Fire Of Free Thinking
By adding to old ideas and infusing our own thinking we have created a new young American culture.
Everyone generation does, so while we are not unique in the creation, ours is somewhat different than
our recent counterparts. It is fairly difficult to describe, but with our situation and thought process has
led to a rise in individualistic thinking. The fire of free thinking has been intensely fanned by social
media that has driven its movement to become much larger than it may have been otherwise. These
ideas have mixed with most of the classic American beliefs to give us the environment that we have
now.
Our individualism is spearheaded by our new bravery and willingness to be different. Years ago much
of the emphasis was placed on fitting in the social structure comfortably and being similar to your
peers. In our time it isn t looked down on to be different and in many ways it is almost encouraged. It
is now thought that you don t want to be the same as the people around you in all ways and this
rational has helped to create more independent young people.
This is a positive thing in many ways, most notably being the growth in free thinking. We are now
comfortable developing our own thoughts and perception. We don t as easily accept others thoughts

How Does Golding Present Jack s Madness In Lord Of The Flies
Lord of the Flies captures countless numbers of William Golding s ideas of madness. This book
presents that humans can trace the faults in society back to the defects in human nature . Jack, a
character met soon after the start of the book, shows apparent madness from the very beginning. The
novel shows that the madness of all the boys is deemed reasonable. Jack could only be described as a
power craving, satanic, young boy. After Ralph, the leader of the group, establishes what the boys
priorities are, Jack appoints himself the leader of hunting. Once the boys finally attain a kill, Jack
instigates a chant, kill the pig, cut her throat, spill the blood . The chant presents that the boys are
slowly becoming excessively more primitive the longer they are stranded on the island. The boys
decent into savagery mimics the exact war torn world they had come from. Along the same lines as the
war, there is a parallel on the island and the war torn country. Jack wants to be dictator of the entire
island, but the democracy of the boys vote Ralph as their leader. In their home country, Hitler is also
attempting to attain his goal by becoming dictator of Germany through the madness of World War II.
Golding wants the reader to comprehend that the society the boys have created themselves is not so

Advertising Influences And Growth Of Advertising
Advertising influences and growth
An industry that is growing and becoming more common around the globe is the advertising industry.
As this industry grows however there are insecurities and they are tracking people s actions online and
gaining an abundance of information on people. In game advertisements appear on free games or
applications that the user has on their phones and a valid solution to this problem is in game rewards.
The advertisement industry gets bigger each day and in game advertisements are getting more
adaptive to the user s preferences. Many developers are making it their mission to give equal
advantage to the user to earn some in game rewards for watching their advertisement while they play

This was greatly adapted in the 1950 s and has moved onwards, becoming more common in the
present. Subliminal advertising largely started in movie theaters, where in cinemas they would strew
messages saying drink Coca Cola (Sheehan, K. B. 2013). The drink Coca Cola was a phrase that
would appear on the screen during the start of the movies and during the intermission and it would
subconsciously impulse the viewer to buy Coca Cola from the food court. Coming into the future this
method is used in videogames where while playing you are met with company logos upon starting the
game and thereafter shown products from other companies that are placed within the game. Some of
the oldest advertisements that appear are from canned beverage companies and now newcomers such
as car companies are coming into play, all the while polluting our screens with more subliminal
advertising. The introduction of subliminal advertisements into video games has become the next step
for many companies taking advantage of a person getting engulfed in the game screen in front of
them. In relative concept, companies are taking advantage of the real estate that is your television or
your computer and even your mobile phone to get you to buy their products.
Advertising is the best method for businesses to convey their products to the consumers because they
make it look good through their eyes. The internet is being used to advertise also as

Mistreatment And Endangerment In Harrison Bergeron By Kurt...
In the short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut, the author reminds us how government limits
the powers of the people. Vonnegut s portrayal of mistreatment and endangerment is satirical. Today,
mistreatment in the government is still continuous in countries like Russia and North Korea. These are
countries that have relatively up to date technology, but they are run by tyrants.

James Driskell s Murder Case
Who is he? James Driskell is a Canadian man born in 1959. In 1991, he was wrongfully convicted for
the murder of his friend, Perry Harder. Prior to the murder, the two of them ran a chop shop together,
where they would disassemble stolen vehicles and sell the parts and materials off for money. The chop
shop was discovered by authorities in 1989, and the two were promptly arrested on several charges.
The prosecution offered a plea deal to Perry. If he admitted guilt to some of his charges, he would
receive a lightened sentence, and James would not be prosecuted afterwards. When the day of the trial

Egypt And Greek Comparison Essay
The development of civilizations was the key factor in advancing society, advancements that disposed
of the idea of a hunter gather society. The ancient Egyptians and the Greeks are known for
contributing the most towards civilization. However, each possessed similar and different qualities
that came together to help shape our world today.
The Egyptian civilization was very fortunate in terms that their environment was very dependable
unlike Greece. The annual flooding of the Nile river renewed the soil and brought about fertile black
soil that in turn resulted in them being the richest agricultural region. Egyptians figured out that the
land beyond the river was inhabitable and the environment was not dependable. Realizing this they
built their civilization around the Nile river and used the flooding to their advantage. However, unlike
the Egyptians who settled around the river the Greeks built many cities upon mountain strongholds.
For example, acropolis of Athens is known for being the fortified palace on top of the mountain.
Like many early civilizations, both the Egyptians and Greeks had a social pyramid that didn t give
much freedom to the people. In Egypt, the Pharaoh his family were known as completely apart from
everyone else. There was the small majority of nobles who served priests and also the elite who were

Subconscious Mind In Brave New World Essay
Aldous Huxley s Brave New World contains many extremes, from not having viviparous reproduction
to having lots of sex and taking lots of drug to not having any literature and to revolving everything

Freud s studies of the subconscious mind.
Freud believed that through hypnosis one could go into one s subconscious and recover a memory that
was hidden from the conscious mind. In Brave New World the controllers of the society use Freud s
idea of accessing the subconscious while people are under hypnosis. Instead of retrieving lost
memories, they implant phrases, truths that must be believed on the deepest level possible: the
subconscious. One hundred repetitions three nights a week for four years, thought Bernard Marx, who

Poverty Influences Children s Early Brain Development
Poverty Influences Children s Early Brain Development
Children have been the topic of many research studies and debates throughout history. Scientists,
educators, social workers and teachers have debated the importance of nature and nurture in children s
development. Our ideas of children are shaped greatly by the portrayal of children through media.
Producers, journalists, and writers have the power to either portray children as passive or active agents
in their development of social, academic and life skills. The authors assumptions and personal beliefs
of children or childhood can be identified through the way they represent children in their writings. In
the article, Poverty Influences Children s Early Brain Development the author reports the effect that
poverty has on the development of infants and young children s brain size. Developing children are
portrayed as passive, relying on the guidance of parents, caretakers and the community, rather than
being seen as active agents who can utilize an innate ability to learn, and overcome any obstacles,
including poverty. The author focuses on the idea that children, while developing, are dependent on
stimulation from others: parents, relatives, caregivers and the environment to learn socio emotional
skills that impact their ability to learn in the future. The author s perspective of children as passive
beings can be inferred from his selection of quotes included in his article. For example, in the news

The Impact Of Japonisme On European Art
A few centuries ago Western world could only perceive Japanese culture through the stories of
travellers, merchants and writers. However, as the transport and communication technologies
advanced, Japanese culture outspread giving the start to Japonisme (French term). It appeared at the
end of XIX century when isolation ended and japanese art arrived to the West. Japonisme had a huge

she hated him and his kingdom. Herodotus said he kept on having dreams like this and when he heard

dreams that Cyrus would one day overthrow him and that s why he ordered him killed. Harpagus didn

Gender Roles In Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window

who s active and adventurous life gets turned around when he is confined to a wheelchair in his small

film shows the main character, Jeff, as been limited to sitting in a wheelchair out the front of his rear
window, whilst he does this, he makes up wild opinions about his neighbour and decides that he s
guilty of murder. To try prove this whilst restricted to a wheelchair is difficult, so he remains in the
observing role while the female roles such as Lisa and Stella step in, take charge, and conduct all the

in the 50 s, women s roles had only just been seen as also participative rather than just passive, Rear
Window challenged this further when they also immobilized the main male lead, Jeff, and instead
focused most of the attention on the womens role in the movie. With Jeff making comments such as

What is Communicative CALL?
Communicative CALL is based on the communicative approach to foreign language teaching which
became prominent in the 1970 s and 1980 s.
The communicative approach
1 Is a reaction to the audio lingual approach.
2 Focuses on language as a medium of communication.
3 Recognizes that we use language to get things done: we speak a language in order to communicate
with others (e.g. we want to express likes and dislikes, ask somebody s hobbies, find directions to a
place).
How the Communicative CALL works?
1 Grammar is taught implicitly rather than explicitly.
2 Computers are used to stimulate discussion, writing or critical thinking. Students are encouraged to
generate original utterances rather than just manipulate prefabricated language.
3 The programmes avoid telling students that they are wrong and are flexible to a variety of student

Executive Summary:
In conducting this report, it became clear that significant flaws were present with the old regulations
regarding statutory reform. These issues created audited financial statements which investors were
never fully confident with trusting, as well as creating many opportunities for the independence of
auditors to be compromised.
For this report, both group work for a presentation, as well as significant individual research went into

The Little Chinese Seamstress Character Analysis
Of course not everybody in the world likes to talk about exactly what they are feeling or thinking all
the time. There is a certain degree of things that generally are kept private. However, in the book The
Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie, the main character (who doesn t ever reveal his name to the
audience, so is simply called the Narrator), comes off as an especially closed off character specifically
in the beginning half of the story. He rarely ever speaks what he is actually thinking, which makes him
a kind of difficult character to relate to. The Little Seamstress, a local beauty, has caught his eye along
with every other male in the village , but he struggles with how to express his feelings because he is
not used to doing so, and because his best friend (Luo) is dating her. On pages 161 163, Luo has left
the village and asked the Narrator to keep an eye on the Little Seamstress while he is away. However,
even though the Narrator keeps his word, he can t help but feel attracted to her and an inner battle
between what he wants and what is right begins. In this part of the story, the Narrator feels torn
between his love and affection towards the Little Seamstress and his commitment/promise to Luo.
Here, the Narrator finally portrays to what extent he feels towards her, but does so very subtly (which
is fitting seeing as that s who he is a character: altogether reserved).
With the job that the Narrator has been tasked with, he is certainly not neglecting his

Article Info ABSTRACT
Subspace model identification (SMI) method is the effective method in identifying dynamic state
space linear multivariable systems. Subspace identification, a sequence of state vectors can be
obtained directly from the input and output data. From a numerical point of view, the SMI algorithms
are not appropriate for online implementation because of the SVD computational complexity. For
industrial applications, it is essential to have online recursive algorithms for model identification,
where parameters can vary in time. Indeed, in many online identification scenarios, it is important to
update the model as time goes on with a reduced computational cost. The main problem with recursive
subspace identification is the SVD computation that is burdensome to update. Thus, it is necessary to
find the alternative algorithms in order to apply the subspace concept in a recursive framework. In this
paper, recursive subspace identification algorithm based on the propagator method which avoid the
SVD computation is proposed.

The Physics of Bridges Essay
Physics of Bridges
The physics behind bridges is more complex than first meets the eye. To assure that a bridge is well
supported many concepts must be understood and used in the correct manner.
What is a bridge?
A bridge is a complex structure allowing passage across an obstacle: a structure that is built above and
across a river, road, or other obstacle to allow people or vehicles to cross it.
Bridge forms
There are four major forms of bridges: beam, truss, arch, and suspension.
A beam bridge, also known as a girder bridge, contains a horizontal beam supported by 2 piers at each
end. The beam pushes down on the piers, which weakens the overall bridge. These simplistic bridges
are the shortest of all types due to the lack of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Above the bridge, a structure of the same pattern is placed to support the bridge from above. At the
ends of each bridge, there are two similar trusses. This ensures that the bridge stays together, even
when large amounts of weights cross it. By allowing more weight to cross, these bridges can be longer
than beam bridges (they can be up to 500 meters). Forces are the focus of these bridges; each bar
exerts a pushing or pulling force without bending. These forces allows the lightweight bridge to stay
sturdy without collapsing as each steel bar pushes or pulls in the correct direction. Due to this stability,
these bridges are often found over places with unstable ground. Anything from cars to trains are able
to cross over these types of bridges without issues.
There are 4 major concepts in building a bridge that builders must pay attention to; span type, material
of the bridge, the placement of the travel surface in relation to the structure, and the form of the
bridge. When considering all of these concepts, builders can effectively construct a safe and sturdy
bridge.
Newton s 3rd Law
One of the most vital concepts in bridge construction is Newton s 3rd Law. This law states: For every
action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

every character in this novel to stress the importance of having a friend. Most of the characters are
craving companionship, lonely and have no one to share their life with. This book is filled with
characters who are trying to find friendship but are incapable of finding a way out of their lonely and
isolated life. Steinbeck shows how the lifestyle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
George looks out for Lennie much like a parent would, as he tells Lennie what to do and looks out for
him. George acts as Lennie s guardian and has to watch everything Lennie does. Their relationship is
almost like a parental relationship, where George is the parent and Lennie is the child. George gives
all the care he can to Lennie. This is shown a couple of times throughout the novel. It is shown when
Lennie stops to drink water out of a pond of dirty water. Lennie, for God s sake don t drink so much..
you gonna be sick like you was last night , this quote is said by George and it shows that George is
worried about Lennie s health as he does not want him to feel sick. This indicates that George is

Reverend Thomas, Robert Malthus
Reverend Thomas, Robert Malthus
(b. February 13 or 14, 1766; d. December, 1834)
Overview
Reverend Thomas, Robert Malthus was a political/classical economist born in the late 1760 s. He
studied at several different schools in the areas of mathematics, literature, and arts. Malthus was
married in the early 1800 s and had three children. Malthus is most famous for his theories on
population growth and how he proposed we go about controlling it. He later died in the 1830 s at the
age of 68.
Childhood and Education
Thomas Malthus, more commonly called Robert, was born near Guildford, Surrey, England. His
parents, Daniel and Henrietta, had seven children in total with Malthus being either the sixth or
seventh in the line (different sources claim both as true). Malthus and his siblings received their
preliminary education at home working with private tutors where he excelled primarily in literature
and mathematics despite the fact that he had a speech impediment due to a hair lip and cleft palate.
His tutor, Daniel Malthus, sent him to study with Richard Graves at Claverton for a short while before
sending him to Gilbert Wakefield at the Dissenting Academy of Warrington in 1782. However, in 1783
the Warrington was closed due to funding issues and a decline in students. There was, however, an
attempt at reviving the school in 1784 but was formally dissolved in 1786. In 1784 Malthus was
admitted to Jesus College in Cambridge, where he studied under William Frend and graduated in

99 Ranch Market s Name And Address
1. How did you find your market? First, I actually looked at the list that Professor Gonzalez presented
in the announcements, and then I made my decision of which ethnic market I would like to visit. I had
always past the market, heard great things, and had never been inside even though I lived only 5
minutes away. What is the Market s Name and Address? The market s name is 99 Ranch Market, and
its address is 6450 Sepulveda Blvd, Van Nuys, Ca 91411. It had always just been down the street, and
a short car ride away.
2. Before leaving to the market, think about what preconceived food or cultural items you expect to
find at this market. Tell me about each of these items and WHY you expect to find each of them. 100
word minimum Well, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This place would represent unity, similarities between many ethnicities, and a place of respect for one
another. People from all parts of the world could be seen here shopping peacefully, making
conversation, and even making recommendations. This particular market appealed to everyone, not
just one particular Asian ethnicity. It gave a bit of an insight to what people all over Asian may enjoy
here in the U.S. and there. This market serves as a common ground for all those both shopping and
working.
7. How were your preconceived expectations (from #2) different or similar to your actual
experiences/observations at the Market? 100 word minimum From the moment I had entered the store,
I smelled the fish that I had guessed would be readily available to the customer. Then, as I went
through each isle, I found many of the other items I had mentioned previously. However, there were
items I was not expecting to find such as certain types of meat that was available. This market had
octopus, squid, and duck for sale. Also, they had other common items that could be found similar in
other grocery store. Such as toiletries, kitchen wear, and even some fruits and vegetables I had never
encountered before in my life. Tell me about at least one thing that you found

  • 2. Positive And Negative Impact Of Globalization Globalization is truly a complex phenomenon. It indicates that the world today is getting smaller, people from all around the world are interconnected than before. Globalization is driven by a combination of economic, technological, sociocultural, and political factors. Jan Aart Scholte states that Some people have associated globalization with progress, prosperity and peace. For others, however, the word has conjured up deprivation, disaster and doom. In these paper I will discuss positive and negative impact of globalization on society: at social, cultural, economical and political level. Can we expect a growing homogenization of culture globally what george ritzer (1996) It is true that globalization can affect people s identities and cultural values; which can be altered significantly. Although, at the same time globalization is expanding the knowledge of foreign cultures. Today s young generations are developing an identity that gives them a sense of belonging to a worldwide culture, they are aware of trends, styles, events and facts that are a part of the global culture. The media such as television and Internet, are allowing user to pass on the message instantly anywhere in the world and makes it easy for person to adopt different culture. For instance, the individual from non western cultures, who are altering their own cultural values and beliefs, and accepting western culture in response to globalization. At the same time, westerners adopting eastern culture; they are exploring the yoga and meditation. In a globalized world, you may see McDonalds and Starbucks everywhere in the world. Nevertheless, the same globalization escort various nation cuisines across the world to explore. Think of all the quality Thai, Chinese, Indian or Mexican restaurants arising across the world over the past two decade. I think the next generation is adopting the foremost concept and ideas of different culture. Additionally, globalization allows us to explore different religions, which we ... The most effective way to influence public policy would be to lobby for the interest group that supports the problem that needs to be addressed by society and the government. Interest groups are organizations of people with shared goals to influence specific public policies, such as the National Rifle Association wanting to protect gun rights. The representatives for these particular interest groups are called lobbyists, whom are registered to inform the Clerk of the House and the Secretary of the Senate of the issue or laws being addressed, what agencies/branches of the government are being contacted, and ... Furthermore, lobbyist s information must be legitimate and neutral, for that misrepresentation of facts and extreme bias may cause them to permanently lose access to politicians and end their careers. In addition to the lobbyist s individual objective, they are also trusted in other law making processes. Lobbyists are invited to congressional trials to testify different sides to the issue currently being discussed. Their information provides opposing or supporting arguments, so being well prepared and honest is important in aiding vital legislations to be passed or denied with their help. It is also shown how lobbyists and interest groups are essential through the general law making process. In fact, their research teams helps congress and are responsible for drafting over half of all the legislations. The duties and responsibilities of these lobbyists are fulfilled by their devotion to hard and honest work with people from all levels of government and society. In order to be an employed lobbyist, they must spend more than 20 percent of their time serving the interest of their clients. This name stems from the disbelief that there will be a literal thousand year period called the golden age, either before or after the return of Christ (Gregg 459). Along with the resurrection wickedness, amillenialists will disagree with the thousand year reign on earth. Revelation 20:3 speaks about Satan being locked away in the abyss so that he cannot tempt or deceive the nations earth. I personally believe that God will reign in both heaven and on earth during the thousand year period. Dispensational Premillennialism Dispensationalism is a period of time during which man is tested in respect to his obedience to some specific revelation of the will of God (Pentecost 391). There are three components of dispensationalism that I need to go over before I get deeper into the theology of it; first, dispensationalism consistently interprets the Bible literally. I have found that other views go literal and symbolic, depending on the subject, but not dispensationalism. Second, dispensationalism distinguishes between the church and Israel. This kind of approach allows us to understand that at one time, God was dealing with Israel, but now He is dealing with the church, and one day He will deal with Israel again. Lastly, dispensationalism has to do with understanding God s ultimate purpose; that is, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Grief And Pain According to Leming and Dickerson (2011) Grief and pain is a common part of everyone s life and should be expected at one point or another. As I once stated, there comes a time in life where the helper will need to be comforted, the provider will need to be tended to and the strong will need to be strengthened. For me, this time came while I was at the age of 21 years old. After I married, I became with child and shortly found out that I was carrying twins. How could this be, I asked myself. Instantly I was numb, I had no feeling toward anything. Although this was a painful event for me, the real grief did not set in until about 30 days later. I remembered reading that to understand the nature of a loss as it relates to a fetus, we must remember that relationship of a child and parent starts way before the birth (Leming and Dickerson, 2011). Also, they stated that no matter where in the life cycle death occurs, it is never easy for the survivor to make the adjustment. Well, for me losing a baby before it even had a chance to experience what it was like to inhale their first breath of fresh air seemed completely unfair. I found myself upset with God; and felt as if He failed me. In my mind, this could not be happening to me. I am used to helping others get through rough times in life, now I find myself on the opposite end of the spectrum. Instead of comforting others, I needed to be comforted which what Leming and Dickerson (2011) emphasized to their readers. • 11. The Cardiovascular System Responses During Submaximal... INTRODUCTION Information on cardiovascular differences between the sexes is necessary for allied health professionals to best adapt rehabilitation exercises for the patients with cardiovascular diseases (CVD). The cardiovascular system has to adjust in response to metabolic demands of working muscles during exercise. Gender related differences on how the body meets the increased demands while still maintaining homeostatic arterial blood pressure has been widely researched (CITE). There is some support that vaso regulation differences are due to female sex hormones (estrogen, in particular estradiol), and less sympathetic nervous system influence when compared to males (CITE). Additionally, body composition (higher muscle mass in males) and substrate utilisation (more lipid substrate utilisation in females) have been found to have significant effects on the cardiovascular system responses during submaximal exercise (CITE). Upper body exercise has been found to create more stress on the cardiovascular system compared to lower body exercise (CITE). The primary causes of death in the Australian population are directly or indirectly related to cardiovascular diseases (CVD) (CITE). Although, men are at greater risk for developing CVD, women have been found to have a higher morbidity rate post surgery (CITE). Additionally, the presentation of symptoms for female differs to that of their male counterparts (CITE). Thus, further investigation to better understand the differences ... List of crimes The horrors in California began on Friday, December 20, 1968 in the city of Vallejo when sixteen year old Betty Lou Jensen and seventeen year old David Faraday were killed while out on a date. At the time, according to Haugen (2011), they had driven to a remote lover s lane on Lake Herman Road. It was while they were there that a vehicle stopped nearby and the driver got out, shot out the rear passenger window of David Faraday s station wagon, and then shot the left rear tire. The man shot Faraday behind the left ear, while Betty Lou Jensen was running for the road. Unfortunately, she was unable to escape and was shot in the back five times by the assailant before he fled the scene. July 4, 1969 when Darlene Ferrin and Michael Mageau were followed by an unknown vehicle, they pulled into a parking lot overlooking Blue Rock Springs Golf Course. Ferrin parked, turned off the headlights, and she and Mageau, listened to the radio. According to Haugen, a car stopped near them, paused for a while, then left, going towards Vallejo. About five minutes later, the vehicle came back and parked behind Ferrin s Corvair. Leaving the headlights on, a man carrying a flashlight got out of the car and approached Ferrin s vehicle. • 14. The Importance Of Humility In Beowulf Humility is an important lesson all successful people must eventually learn. The epic poem Beowulf written sometime around 1000 A.D. follows the adventure of a great warrior on his quest to greatness. Throughout the poem he is taught that humility is the key to success. Beowulf comes to the land of the Danes to defeat the monster Grendel. Beowulf accomplishes his task and conquers both Grendel and the monster s mother. After claiming victory, Beowulf earns glory, honor, and respect. The great warrior then returns home to become the king later in his life. Beowulf learns throughout the story that arrogance has consequences and being humble will grant respect from others. Beowulf changes throughout the story ultimately becoming a humble warrior. Beowulf learns humility when fighting Grendel, when fighting Grendel s mother, from hearing legends and from his past. Beowulf is humbled after fighting Grendel. Before fighting Grendel Beowulf was over confident and cocky. He believed that he was the greatest and did not realize the extent of the challenge of fighting Grendel. Although Beowulf won the battle he did not kill him in the mead hall as he had intended. Before Beowulf fought Grendel he thought that he could alone... purge all evil from [the] hall... /[and is so great that he needed] no weapons and [feared] none. (431 434). During the fight no matter how hard... [Beowulf] held him he still pulled free (928). Grendel escaped,/ But wounded as he was he could flee to his den (819 820). Beowulf did not have the skill set to kill Grendel as he first predicted, he seriously injured him but did not kill him in the mead hall. Beowulf learned that not everything is as easy as it may seem. The result of the fight humbled Beowulf. Fighting Grendel gave Beowulf perspective and taught him not to act egotistical, and to never underestimate your opponent. The lesson Beowulf learns is reflected in his actions throughout the rest of the story. When praised for his accomplishments, Beowulf did not boast or act superior, he accepted his loses and celebrated his wins among the rest of the Danes. Everyone generation does, so while we are not unique in the creation, ours is somewhat different than our recent counterparts. It is fairly difficult to describe, but with our situation and thought process has led to a rise in individualistic thinking. The fire of free thinking has been intensely fanned by social media that has driven its movement to become much larger than it may have been otherwise. These ideas have mixed with most of the classic American beliefs to give us the environment that we have now. Our individualism is spearheaded by our new bravery and willingness to be different. Years ago much of the emphasis was placed on fitting in the social structure comfortably and being similar to your peers. In our time it isn t looked down on to be different and in many ways it is almost encouraged. It is now thought that you don t want to be the same as the people around you in all ways and this rational has helped to create more independent young people. This is a positive thing in many ways, most notably being the growth in free thinking. We are now comfortable developing our own thoughts and perception. We don t as easily accept others thoughts without thinking them through first by ourselves. This creates more young people who will end up being critical and deep thinkers in the future and these are the people that have a real opportunity to change the world. We must ... • 20. How Does Golding Present Jack s Madness In Lord Of The Flies Lord of the Flies captures countless numbers of William Golding s ideas of madness. This book presents that humans can trace the faults in society back to the defects in human nature . Jack, a character met soon after the start of the book, shows apparent madness from the very beginning. The novel shows that the madness of all the boys is deemed reasonable. Jack could only be described as a power craving, satanic, young boy. After Ralph, the leader of the group, establishes what the boys priorities are, Jack appoints himself the leader of hunting. Once the boys finally attain a kill, Jack instigates a chant, kill the pig, cut her throat, spill the blood . The chant presents that the boys are slowly becoming excessively more primitive the longer they are stranded on the island. Subliminal advertising largely started in movie theaters, where in cinemas they would strew messages saying drink Coca Cola (Sheehan, K. B. 2013). The drink Coca Cola was a phrase that would appear on the screen during the start of the movies and during the intermission and it would subconsciously impulse the viewer to buy Coca Cola from the food court. Coming into the future this method is used in videogames where while playing you are met with company logos upon starting the game and thereafter shown products from other companies that are placed within the game. Some of the oldest advertisements that appear are from canned beverage companies and now newcomers such as car companies are coming into play, all the while polluting our screens with more subliminal advertising. Vonnegut s portrayal of mistreatment and endangerment is satirical. Today, mistreatment in the government is still continuous in countries like Russia and North Korea. These are countries that have relatively up to date technology, but they are run by tyrants. The ancient Egyptians and the Greeks are known for contributing the most towards civilization. However, each possessed similar and different qualities that came together to help shape our world today. The Egyptian civilization was very fortunate in terms that their environment was very dependable unlike Greece. The annual flooding of the Nile river renewed the soil and brought about fertile black soil that in turn resulted in them being the richest agricultural region. Egyptians figured out that the land beyond the river was inhabitable and the environment was not dependable. Realizing this they built their civilization around the Nile river and used the flooding to their advantage. However, unlike the Egyptians who settled around the river the Greeks built many cities upon mountain strongholds. Producers, journalists, and writers have the power to either portray children as passive or active agents in their development of social, academic and life skills. The authors assumptions and personal beliefs of children or childhood can be identified through the way they represent children in their writings. In the article, Poverty Influences Children s Early Brain Development the author reports the effect that poverty has on the development of infants and young children s brain size. Developing children are portrayed as passive, relying on the guidance of parents, caretakers and the community, rather than being seen as active agents who can utilize an innate ability to learn, and overcome any obstacles, including poverty. The author focuses on the idea that children, while developing, are dependent on stimulation from others: parents, relatives, caregivers and the environment to learn socio emotional skills that impact their ability to learn in the future. The author s perspective of children as passive beings can be inferred from his selection of quotes included in his article. For example, in the news ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Subspace identification, a sequence of state vectors can be obtained directly from the input and output data. From a numerical point of view, the SMI algorithms are not appropriate for online implementation because of the SVD computational complexity. For industrial applications, it is essential to have online recursive algorithms for model identification, where parameters can vary in time. Indeed, in many online identification scenarios, it is important to update the model as time goes on with a reduced computational cost. The main problem with recursive subspace identification is the SVD computation that is burdensome to update. Thus, it is necessary to find the alternative algorithms in order to apply the subspace concept in a recursive framework. In this paper, recursive subspace identification algorithm based on the propagator method which avoid the SVD computation is proposed. Keyword: Subspace identification Observability ... To assure that a bridge is well supported many concepts must be understood and used in the correct manner. What is a bridge? A bridge is a complex structure allowing passage across an obstacle: a structure that is built above and across a river, road, or other obstacle to allow people or vehicles to cross it. Bridge forms There are four major forms of bridges: beam, truss, arch, and suspension. A beam bridge, also known as a girder bridge, contains a horizontal beam supported by 2 piers at each end. The beam pushes down on the piers, which weakens the overall bridge. These simplistic bridges are the shortest of all types due to the lack of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Above the bridge, a structure of the same pattern is placed to support the bridge from above. At the ends of each bridge, there are two similar trusses. This ensures that the bridge stays together, even when large amounts of weights cross it. By allowing more weight to cross, these bridges can be longer than beam bridges (they can be up to 500 meters). Forces are the focus of these bridges; each bar exerts a pushing or pulling force without bending. These forces allows the lightweight bridge to stay sturdy without collapsing as each steel bar pushes or pulls in the correct direction. Due to this stability, these bridges are often found over places with unstable ground. Anything from cars to trains are able to cross over these types of bridges without issues. There are 4 major concepts in building a bridge that builders must pay attention to; span type, material of the bridge, the placement of the travel surface in relation to the structure, and the form of the bridge. When considering all of these concepts, builders can effectively construct a safe and sturdy bridge. Newton s 3rd Law One of the most vital concepts in bridge construction is Newton s 3rd Law.
