Ender s Game Analysis Essay
Ender s Game Analysis In the movie Ender s Game, there are many differences and many similarities
between the book and the movie. The reader would have noticed more differences than did
similarities. Some of the differences in the movie were large, some were subtle. Some parts were left
out of the movie entirely. The main scenes that are going to be concentrated on in this paper are The
Giant s Drink, Ender s progression through the ranks, the buggers, and Graff s control over the
soldiers. In the book and the movie alike, The Giant s Drink is a game engineered by the IF to train
strategic thinking. The main conflict in the game is when a seemingly impassable giant gives you the
choice to drink from 2 chalices, and it is established that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In both the movie and the book, Ender graduated from Launchy , to soldier, to a commander of his
own platoon, to a trainee for a commander, to Supreme Commander of the IF. In the movie, most of
the promotions went smoothly and were similar with the book. All of these were similar up until the
graduation from Battle School to Command School. In the book, Ender first fought Bonzo, and then
proceeded to fight 2 armies, where afterward he was promoted from Battle School to Command
School. In the movie, Ender first fought 2 armies, one of them being Bonzo s. Only afterwards Ender
was confronted by Bonzo, and while Ender was watching Bonzo in the infirmary after the fight, Graff
approached him and informed him about his promotion. The makers of the movie rearranged the order
of the fights and the promotions in order to give Bonzo a stronger reason to confront Ender (the defeat
of his army and previous reasons), therefore building up to the fight, most likely to make the plot
simpler. Either way, the events in the book and movie both created the same results, keeping the

Essay about BBC s Current Marketing Plan
BBC s Current Marketing Plan
The BBC s current marketing plan focuses on a number of specific areas, where the BBC hopes to
achieve a variety of objectives that will improve the corporation s image, in this country as well as
abroad.
The BBC plans to increase the range and quality of its radio and television services. More high impact
broadcasting is being focused on. More memorable programmes are being developed and created, in
particular arts and current affairs. The BBC plans to build up and solidify its digital service, providing
something for everyone on this service. Interactive learning activities are available and will become
increasingly available in the future. These factors are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children, young people, young adults, adults and older people would potentially have to be catered
for. These different groups in themselves would also have various tastes. It would have to be
determined what the viewers would want to see most then the next most wanted programmes and so
on.
The BBC wishes to bring younger audiences to BBC services by making bold, innovative
programmes. It also wants the young people to engage more with the BBC s news and current affairs,
without having to dumb it down too much or showing less parliamentary programming. New methods
of attracting more of the UK s ethnic minorities, both through the mainstream and targeted through
specially made programmes are needed.
Younger audiences appear to be a trouble area for the BBC, as they are supposedly failing to attract
enough of them to programmes. Young people are greatly interested in new and existing technology.
Programmes like Tomorrow s World could be created especially for young people, providing news and
information on different inventions and modifications to existing technology. Currently there are not
enough dedicated programmes to it. Nowadays the news appears to be very serious and bleak. To alter
this more funny news and entertainment news should be shown. Ethnic minorities do make up a
considerable amount of the UK population. These families of an ethnic

How to Choose a Good Roommate
Today, numerous people share rooms with their roommates everywhere. I used to live with roommates
when I studied in university and worked in big cities in China. This phenomenon is very common
currently. Many students live with other classmates in one dormitory on campus; some workers share
the room with other people in big city because of the high rent fee; the others who living with
someone else would feel safety and take care of each other. So, for these people, it is very important to
find a nice person to live together. I would choose a good roommate who has some good characters
such as integrity, keep everything clean and good at communication.

the journey of the old lady walk to the city, getting medicine for her grandson, but during the journey

Jackson is a good walker. She walk to city in certain time during years, even the nurse know about it.
When she first got there, she was not able to answer anything, not untill the nurse ask her did her
grandson died. I think from the beginning of Phoenix Jackson step into that building untill now, she

Indian and International Accounting Standards
Indian and International Accounting Standards Practices
Introduction:
Accounting Standards are used as one of the main compulsory regulatory mechanisms for preparation
of general purpose financial reports and subsequent audit of the same, in almost all countries of the
world. Accounting standards are concerned with the system of measurement and disclosure rules for
preparation and presentation of financials statements. They appear with a set of authoritative
statements of how particular types of transactions, events and other costs should be recognized and
reported in the financial statements. Accounting standards are devised to furnish useful information to
different users of the financial statements, to such as shareholders, ... Show more content on

Do we need to harmonize the accounting standards of different bodies?
Different companies observe it from published annual accounts of various Indian companies that there
are divergent accounting practices for the same transaction. This in effect is defeating the
comparability of financial statements.
The reasons for the different accounting practices may be:
a) Too many alternative accounting treatments in the accounting standards;
b) Lack of harmony among government, standards setting body, and regulatory agencies;
* Adoption of different accounting standards causes difficulties in making relative evaluation of
performance of companies. This phenomenon hinders the valuation and consequently the decision
making process.
* To overcome these problems, harmonization of accounting standards has already been started.
Accounting harmonization is not an end by itself, but it is a means to an end. The ultimate objective of
harmonizing accounting practices among countries is to foster international comparability of accounts.
* But still the harmonization process has a long way to go. Many standard setting bodies and
regulators of different nations are ardent protectors of their local standards; they are in no mood to
allow their job being taken over by a foreign entity.
* Thus winning the consent of these bodies is vital for international accounting standards to don the
mantle of

Abstinence-Only Education In Texas
Abstinence only education . Every person has the right of balanced sex education, if they want.
Abstinence only education is not the correct approach in Texas, because the programs ignore youth s
basic human right and the fundamental public health principle of accurate information, they advocate
contraceptive use and does not emphasize their failure rates, and virginity pledges do not delay the
beginning of sexual activity. American birth rates are lower than ever, unless you re in Texas. The state
s high teen birthrate has sparked debate about sex education in state, because observers believe that
the high teenage birthrate is an indication that the states abstinence only approach to sex education ...

The constant pressure that the Texas government apply on the teenage population about sex before
marriage makes them think that their only solution when a teenage girl gets pregnant is abortion.
Abortion is legal and accessible in Texas, and the majority of Texas metropolitan areas have abortion
clinics. This kind of education would work better if the state chooses to teach about contraception
methods, and the importance of abstinence. The only proven method for reducing pregnancy and
sexually transmitted disease, the studies say, is to combine the abstinence message with one that
teaches young people how to protect themselves against pregnancy and disease . However, the state
opposes to teach about contraception because they do not want to give the impression that the state
supports premarital sex. This conclusion from the Texas government is completely awful, because if
the state teaches the teenage population about the importance and usage of contraception methods
many teenage pregnancies could be prevented. Contraception can be extremely effective at preventing
unwanted pregnancies when it is used consistently and correctly. Abstinence only is not a realistic
approach for everyone, because what about those teenagers that have been sexually assaulted

Essay On Women And African American History
To many people, America s history may appear to be a series of events shaped by the decisions and
actions of white men. However, this perspective fails to recognize the tremendous impacts that
minority groups had, have, and will have in shaping and influencing America s past, present, and
future. The Revolutionary War is an example of how women and African Americans played an
important role in critical events in American history. In the Revolutionary War, Americans fought for
freedom and independence from Britain, leading to the birth of our nation. Without the contributions
of women and African Americans, the Revolutionary War may not have been successful, and
American history may have followed a very different course. During the Revolutionary War, the
Patriot soldiers fighting for freedom needed help in many ways to support their mission on and
beyond the battleground. Women supported the Patriots in unique and important ways. Document 1
contains an agreement that the Edenton Ladies Patriotic Guild signed on October 27, 1774. It states,
The provincial deputies of North Carolina having resolved not to drink any more tea nor wear any
more British cloth, etc. The Edenton Ladies agreement to not buy or use any British goods offered a
form of economic pressure, and strengthened the ability of America to try to break away from the

The Political Economy Of Globalization
Joseph Stiglitz and Layna Mosley both discuss globalization in detail and both have similar views
regarding globalization. In the chapter The Political Economy of Globalization Layna Mosley asks the
question whether globalizations effect on government policy making has adverse effects on the state
of the global economy or if governments retain autonomy in regards to policymaking despite
globalization. She analyzes trends in globalization and the hypothesis of the race to the bottom as well
as economic openness and if government are truly in control of capital markets. Joseph Stiglitz
however analyzes globalization in a historical and current point of view and how the management of
globalization has comparatively helped developed nations extensively more than developing/poor
nations. Stiglitz s supports his argument regarding the poor management of globalization by arguing
that monopoly power created by patents and the TRIPs agreement has resulted in an unfair global
market and is overall very critical of trade agreements. This paper will summarize and critically
analyze these two readings and why both texts make strong a valid point in regards to the management
of globalization and its effect on the global environment. Furthermore this paper will argue why the
texts support the claim that globalization has not only prospered but also resulted in the end of the
nation state because of the increasing interdependence between countries all around the world.

Business Studies Essay Relating to Finance
Financial Management is a critical aspect of any business in order to achieve a sustainable and
efficient cash flow. It is essential in maintaining the link between a business s future financial goals
(profit maximization) and the resources that it has in order to achieve its objectives. Businesses

involve; growth amongst assests, An increase in efficiency in all areas of the business whether it be

By spreading expenses over the whole year there is a more equal cash outflow each month rather than
one huge outflow during one month. An example of this is the offer from insurance companies to be
able to pay insurance premiums monthly instead of annually because of the excessively high costs.
Another strategy commonly used is Discounts for the early payments , This is where a business may
offer discounts to account customers for the early payment of their accounts to speed up cash inflow.
This discount may be a little as 2 5%, but shows effective in terms of cash inflow as it gives incentive
for the customers, Giving both the customer and business a gain in the financial situation. Other
incentives for early payment could include small gifts and discounts on future orders that the
customers may have. The business then may shorten the credit terms it allows for account customers.
Thus Reducing the number of days that a customer can take to pay its invoice, this will speed up cash
inflow into the business as it recieves cash from its sales much sooner. Factoring, a short term source
of borrowing for a business. IT enables a business to raise the funds immediately by selling accounts
receivable at a discount to a firm that specialises in collecting accounts recievable (a finance or even
factoring buiness). Factoring is an important source of short term finance because the business will

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bio-Diesel
6.5.2. Bio diesel
Chemically, bio diesel is a methyl ester of C16 C18 saturated and unsaturated fatty acids obtained
through base, acid or enzyme catalyzed transesterification of vegetable oils with methanol. Enzyme
catalyzed transesterification make the whole production process considerably sustainable and greener.
In Europe, biodiesel is made predominantly from rape seed oil. Worldwide so many plants have been
used for the production of biodiesel such as jojoba oil, jatropha oil, karanja oil etc. Transesterification
of vegetable oil produce bio diesel and glycerol. Glycerol can be further used for other important
applications. The biodiesel so obtained can be added to diesel fuels in different percentage
compositions that may vary from 5% to 30%. In some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Disadvantages
Besides having several advantages plant based renewable raw materials few limitations associated
with their use are given below:
Most of the plant products that can be used as a building block for industries have conventionally been
used as food resources. Plant resources need lots a space for their development. Biomass is essentially
seasonal, which affect their continuous supply as a feedstock. A broad range of materials that comprise
biomass could be damage if new processes need to be developed for each feedstock. The building
blocks extracted from biomass are foreign to traditional chemical producers and must be demonstrated
to function similarly to existing building blocks.
8. Conclusions
Plant based raw materials are already replacing fossil based materials. They have high substitution
potential especially for the products that have direct contact to humans e.g. tenside in detergents,
pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. In addition to that, their cost effectiveness and high concerns for
environmental consequences promote their use in various industries. In the future, plant derived
chemicals are expected to play an increasingly significant role in the commercial development of new

Glial Cells In The Nervous System
What is a glial cell? Glial cell border neurons and provide support for insulation between them. Glial
cells are the most abundant cell types in the central nervous system. Types of glial cells include
oligodendrocytes, astrocytes, ependymal cells, and satellite cells. The glial cells lie between the nerve
cells and encircle the blood vessels. There are at least as many glial cells as there are nerve cells in the
brain. Twenty years ago many scientists believed, glial cells were considered minor players in the
nervous system; even though they outnumber neurons. Glial was thought to work as passive support
cells. Glial cells carried nutrients to and removing wastes from the neurons. While the latter carried

Kidney And Corne Aquaporin Analysis
Aquaporin: Structure and Role in Kidney and Cornea
The isolation of aquaporin helped many scientists to determine the nature of aquaporin as a water
channel protein and work out how water transport occurs across membrane.
Structure of Aquaporin
Aquaporin consists of a tetramer (Verkman et al, 2014) and each monomer has a single aqueous pore
that allows water transportation and prevents proton transfer (Agre et al, 2002). There is an
extracellular and cytoplasmic vestibule in each monomer which connects to a central amphipatic pore
region that has a hydrophilic (α carbonyl groups) and hydrophobic surface that helps preventing
permeation of larger molecules (Verkman et at, 2014). There are six membrane domains in each
aquaporin that then form ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cornea is part of the ocular surface system and is of vital importance to maintain its slightly
dehydrated state (Gipson, 2007). The cornea consists of layered structures as shown in Figure 3.
Corneal epithelium consists of three layers of superficial, wing and basal cells and is the main
refractive site of the eye and is constantly bathed by water (tears) secreted from lacrimal glands
(Schey et al, 2014). Keratocytes are scattered among a network of collagen fibrils which are spaced in
the stroma is important in maintaining the transparency of the cornea (ibid). The endothelium layer is
immersed in an aqueous humor and gives access to fluid and nutrients for the cornea (ibid). Changes
in the corneal water volume will change the length and spacing of stromal collagen fibrils which later
affects the transparency of the cornea (ibid). Both AQP5 and AQP1 are the major channels for water
transport across the corneal epithelium and endothelium (ibid). AQP5 is responsible for water
transport across the corneal epithelium onto the ocular surface due to the high osmotic pressure of the
tear film (ibid). AQP1 facilitates water transport across the corneal endothelium and together with
epithelial AQP5, maintains the slightly dehydrated and transparent stromal layer of the eye

With the global economy developed, organizations have to live in a more complex and changeable
environment, making decision according to various factors that could make a difference, such as
technology, environment, regulation and policy etc. The ability to adapt changes and deal with future
possibility is vital for organizations to survive in a world changes rapidly. However, it seems to be not
sufficient to use traditional approaches of strategy in such highly uncertain, intensive and complex
competitive environment (Celeste Amorim Varum, 2010). Scenario planning is another tool that has
gained much attention during the last decades as an effective tool for sorting future uncertainties and

We all know that future cannot be predicted even the weather forecast, which based on accurate data,
is not that precise sometimes. Scenario planning provides a solution for organizations to develop in
uncertainty by assuming various possibilities about future and help people to make a better decision or

In my opinion, there are three advantages of scenario planning which made it become widely used by
organizations in the process of decision making. Firstly, scenario planning can improve the decision
making mechanism and activate the managing system, improving the decision making with a more
scientific and interactive process. TAIDA™ is a primary model for scenario planning. Hundreds of
scenario projects have been carried out on the basis of the model in the past decade (Mats Lindgren,

The Construction Of The Navy
The Bureau of ships verified all the calculations and found the design to be practical and water
worthy. The secretary of the Navy then sent the project to the US Navy s Bureau of Yards and Docks,
where its fabrication and assembly procedures and cost were analyzed on a basis of the floating city
being built in a shipyard, as are aircraft carriers and other vessels. The cost analysis of the Navy rental

such floating city for anchorage just offshore in Chesapeake Bay, adjacent to Baltimore s waterfront.
At this time President Lyndon Johnson s Democratic Party went out of power. President Johnson took
the model with him and installed it in his LBJ Texas library. The city of Baltimore s politicians went
out of favor with the Nixon administration, and the whole project languished. The city of Toronto,
Canada, and other cities of USA were interested in the possibility of acquiring such floating cities, but
none was made.
Fuller designed three types of floating cities: There was one for protected harbour waters, one for semi
protected waters, and one for unprotected deep sea installations. Submarine pontoons positioned under
the turbulence, with their centers of buoyancy 100 feet below the ocean s surface supported the deep
sea type floating cities. Structural columns would rise from the submarine pontoons outwardly

Paul Revere And The Boston Massacre
The newspaper was made so that the people could know what was happening around their community.
Propaganda was very popular with the colonists even though most of the content that was printed in

then started to throw snowballs and other items at the British soldiers which infuriated the soldiers.
The British soldiers under Captain Thomas Presto started to fire at the crowd and killed 5 men and

Rappaccini’s Daughter
Women and Rappaccini s Daughter
What are the attitudes of the young medical school student in Hawthorne s tale, Rappaccini s
Daughter, toward women; of the author toward women; of other characters in the story toward
women? Are women involved in basic plot development? This essay intends to answer these and other
questions about women in the short story.
Beatrice, Dr. Rappaccini s daughter, is the prime motivating force in the story. Giovanni s love for the
beautiful daughter, mixed perhaps with pride, blinds him to various indications of her poisonous
nature, to the evil nature of her father and to the intent of her father to involve the protagonist as a
subject in his sinister experiment.

This may be expected since she is Italian. Or perhaps Hawthorne was conscious of moral
responsibility in her portrayal; Sculley Bradley, Richmond Croom Beatty and E. Hudson Long in The
Social Criticism of a Public Man state regarding the author: He was absorbed by the enigmas of evil
and of moral responsibility (47).
Giovanni in his room can hear the water gurgling in Dr. Rappaccini s garden, from an ancient marble
fountain located in the center of the plants and bushes; of particular interest to Giovanni is one shrub
in particular, set in a marble vase in the midst of the pool, that bore a profusion of purple blossoms,
each of which had the lustre and richness of a gem. As striking as the plant of the purple gems is a tall,
emaciated, sallow, and sickly looking man, dressed in a scholar s garb of black, who is busy in the
garden, scientifically examining the plants in a detached and cautious manner as if walking among
malignant influences, such as savage beasts, or deadly snakes, or evil spirits.
Ironically, into this sinister environment the reader sees the second female character enter the tale with
the doctor s shout, Beatrice! Beatrice! She very promptly and obediently

Discrimination in Harrison Bergeron, after you my dear...
Discrimination in the Short Stories, Harrison Bergeron, after you my dear Alphonse, and The Lottery
The trait of discrimination is the basis for the stories, Harrison Bergeron, after you my dear Alphonse,
and Lottery. Discrimination is when someone is hated or acted upon negatively for the reason of race,
sex, or nationality. In the short stories the author s feelings of discrimination are expressed through the
characters differently. In these stories the author has his own feelings and thought depicted through the
characters. By the popular theme of discrimination and racism it suggests that these stories were
written in the late sixties early seventies.
In the story Harrison Bergeron the whole country is handicapped except for ... Show more content on

This shows discrimination against everyone because they are taking that person s freedom away and
judging them on their looks and abilities. A man named Harrison who would be a sport super star in
real life because of his outstanding talent is fitted with weights and other handicaps to make him like
everyone else. He revolts and overcomes his handicaps but is soon killed for breaking the law. In this
story discrimination plays a big part in how the main character revolts.
The next example is in the story, after you my dear alphonse. In this story a boy becomes friends with
an African American boy named Boyd and brings him home for lunch, when he gets home his mother
is shocked to see her son with this boy. The mother assumes that the father works hard labor in the
fields and that the boy will grow up and do the same. But that?s not the case, the boys father works in
a factory. This is an example of discrimination because the mother assumes things just because he is
black.
The last example of discrimination as a theme for a short story is in The Lottery. In this story a
community has a lottery every year and the winner is stoned to death. The theme of discrimination is
shown when they just pick a random person and kill them. That discriminates against that person
because they show hate for little or no reason.

Literature Has Functioned Throughout History As A Means
Literature has functioned throughout history as a means of social criticism that is accessible to the lay
public. Classics like Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and Uncle Tom s Cabin by Harriet Beecher
Stowe leverage their plots to reveal alarming realities and comment on social issues. The Scarlet
Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is one of the earliest examples of literary social criticism. Hawthorne
uses the plight of the main character, Hester Prynne, a convicted adulterer in a society that severely
punishes sinners, to take a stand against Puritanism and the religious conservatism that stains the
memory of his ancestors. In a similar fashion, the film Easy A, directed by Will Gluck, confronts
puritanical aspects of modern popular culture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a similar yet less overt approach, Easy A portrays religious hypocrisy through the use of dialogue
juxtaposed with music. As a result of her notoriety for allegedly losing her virginity, Olive
Penderghast incurs the wrath of the school s conservative religious group led by fellow student
Marianne Bryant. In a scene at a club meeting, Marianne complains about how Jesus tells us to love
everyone. Even the whores and the homosexuals, but it s so hard (Royal 65). As she is making her
intolerant comments, the song Oh! Let My People Go: The Song of the Contrabands, is played in the
background. The juxtaposition of a song that was historically sung by slaves as a sign of freedom is in
contradiction with Marianne s rhetoric. Subtle undertones are used in the movie to negatively portray
religion as fanatical and suppressive. Just as it can be inferred that Hawthorne disliked the Calvinist
fundamentalist version of Christianity the Puritans practiced, it can also be inferred that the directors
from liberal Hollywood dislike forms of religious extremism. This is certainly the case in later scenes
in the movie when protestors from Marianne s club hackle Olive with signs saying OLIVE
PENDERGHAST IS A WHORE (Royal 72).
Easy A includes many overt references to The Scarlet Letter, for instance Olive embraces her role as
the school skank and begins wearing provocative lingerie with a

Sudetenland American Imperialism
In the late 1930 s, Europe was fearful that they might be heading again towards war. Nazi Germany
seemed determined to take areas that they considered traditionally German. One of these regions was
the Czechoslovakian Sudetenland. The issue that Hitler was facing was how to gain it. Germany was
not ready for all out war; they were still in the process of rearmament. It was in this environment that
the Munich Agreement was forged. It was a meeting between the heads of state for Britain, France,
Italy, and Germany. Although she was just a child when the agreement was enacted, Madeleine

Czechoslovakian people. Like many others, she looks at the events of the ... Show more content on

did not mean they were eager to take up arms. In fact, nothing pleased them more that to be told that it
was Europe s job to clean up the mess Europeans had created. Americans were clinging on tight to the

Judaism Truly Value The Culture Of Non Violence
The wolf shall lie with the lamb and the leopard with the kid. Isaiah 11:6. One of the more commonly
known verses from the Hebrew bible. There are many verses such as this that express the longing for a
culture without violence that is attributed to the ethical values of Judaism. Upon further research
including an ethnographic study it was clear that followers of Judaism truly value the culture of non
violence. It is these ethics and values within the Judaistic tradition for the development of non
violence that are invaluable for contemporary society as they help to create a safer civilisation.
Firstly, the Torah or Hebrew bible has many different examples and teachings on violence, non
violence, punishment and war (Freeman, 2015). Isaiah 2:4 states He will judge between the nations
and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into ploughshares And their
spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war
anymore. The thirst for a world without violence is clearly portrayed in this passage and it appears to
reflect one of the strongest values of Judaism. However in Joel 4:9 10 this idiom is reused in a far
more barbaric manner (Heft, 2004). Announce this to the nations: Proclaim a holy war! Alert the
warriors! Let all the soldiers report and march! Beat your ploughshares into swords, and your pruning
knives into spears; Let the weakling boast, I am a warrior! Of these passages, which shows

Delta Airlines Evaluation
For my news report I turned to the website Prnewsonline.com and I supplemented my research with
information from the BET website. These websites were incredibly helpful in my research gathering
process. I feel that these sources were reliable and for the most part unbiased news sources in which I
could gather accurate and relevant information to my issue.
In early October, Delta Airlines was accused with racial profiling after a flight attendant refused to
believe that a black woman, Tamika Cross, was a doctor. During a flight from Detroit, a man went
unconscious and his wife cried out for help. A representative for the airline went on the speaker and
asked if anyone aboard was a doctor, Dr. Tamika Cross immediately responded. The flight attendant
showed clear doubt that Tamika Cross was a doctor and reportedly said to her that they were looking
for actual physicians or nurses or some type of medical personnel. Once again the cockpit asked if
there were any medical personnel on board, and once again Dr. Cross responded. Once again Dr.
Cross was greeted with disbelief and was even asked to prove her ... Show more content on

Through utilization of justification, Delta airlines minimizes their crisis by stating that they are still
taking action in order to investigate what happened. Delta never fully acknowledges that there is an
issue and instead tries to make it right through the reduction of offensiveness. Through utilizing this
strategy they reduce the severity of Dr. Cross s allegations by discussion how their flight attendants
are trained and how ultimately it comes down to a judgment call. The biggest issue with Delta s
statement is that it lacks an apology and never acknowledges that there was an issue of racial
profiling. Although Delta did issue a statement, it was not effective in making their issues go away,

Francisco De Goya Black Paintings
Francisco de Goya s Pinturas negras, or Black Paintings, are some of the most grotesque and
unsettling images in art history, with one painting in particular, Saturno devorando a su hijo, or Saturn
Devouring One of His Sons, standing out the most amongst them all. With his wildly staring eyes,
gaping mouth and half eaten son in his hands, it makes one wonder what would drive an artist to
create an image like this. Goya, however, was not uneducated in the horrors of the world, witnessing
the travesties of the Peninsular War, the atrocities of the Spanish Inquisition, surviving two life
threatening illnesses, with one leaving him completely deaf, and the death of six of his seven children.
Perhaps it was one of these instances in particular that encouraged him to conceiving this
disconcerting figure, or perhaps it was a combination of the three.
At the beginning of Goya s career, in 1777, he was commissioned to create a series of tapestry
cartoons from the Royal Tapestry Factory, designing some 42 patterns over five years. Some of his
more popular paintings were originally tapestry cartoons such as The Parasol. His use of the popular
Rococo style, brought him to the attention of the aristocracy of Spain. In 1789, he was appointed to
court painter to Charles IV and then the following year, he became First Court Painter. His portraits of
the king, queen and royal family, were anything but flattering. While he was given this great position
of influence and prestige, he

Mercy Killing In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men

A pool of water created by the Salinas River soaks up heat. The bright orange sun beats down on a
summer afternoon. The shouting of a man echoes through the land. Then another voice appears, it
seems to smooth the other. All is quiet. Boom! A murder has happened on the bank of the Salinas
River. This was the final scene of John Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men. A book of friendship, dreams,
and murder under the disguise of a mercy killing. In the book Of Mice and Men George and Lennie ,

relive the pain of his loved one in his murder; however, this according to the courts was deemed not a

of the sister and wife both of their lives were taken without permission due to the killer s belief that
the pain they were in and were to be in for the rest of their life was reason enough to kill them. This
was similar to the case with George and Lennie since George wished to take the life of Lennie due to
him not wanting him to risk running away and dying alone or getting shot by Curly where he would be
in more pain. In addition, it was also proven the claim Lennie wished to die anyway by running away
to the mountains is false. This was disproven due to him stating how he would be living but not
thriving there by himself. Overall though the circumstances of the case, similar cases and their
verdicts and proving Lennie wish to still live it is safe to say the killing of Lennie was a

The Locomotive Of The Transcontinental Railway
With the completion of the Transcontinental railway in 1869, it connected the Union Pacific and
Central Pacific railways in Promontory, Utah. This connection made travel from east to west much
easier than the horse and stagecoach or covered wagon of days past. With the connection of rail, came
luxury and convenience of travel, as well as the movement of goods out west. Steam engines were a
major part of the Industrial Revolution, and steam locomotives made travel from place to place so
incredibly easy compared to the traditional horse and buggy, but as with everything else, technology
advanced and the steel skinned, steam breathing dinosaurs that carved the way for many across the
country, has met the end of the line with the advent of the diesel engine and electric streetcars
essecently being combined to make diesel electric locomotives most famously made by General
Motors Electro Motive Division.
The steam engine revolutionized the way mechanical work was done. Its invention came in the early
1700s in Spain; it worked but was not very efficient, as many firsts are. In 1781, James Watt patented
a steam engine that became a key part of the Industrial Revolution; one that worked in a continuous
rotative motion that produced torque to do mechanical work. The Industrial Revolution started in 1760
and lasted through the 1840s, during the industrialization of the United States. Once the Watt steam
engine had proved itself, it was time for it to be used in other means than just

Historical Changes During The Persian War
History is the study of what happened in the past, but the causes of these events are important to
understanding why we have historical changes. Although historical forces have an effect on the
outcome of history, human agency is the greatest cause of historical changes. The actions of
Themistocles during the Persian War and the leadership of Pericles during Athens golden age
influenced the outcome of history in ancient Greece. During the Persian War Themistocles leadership
guided Athens to defeat the Persian Empire. Although Themistocles did not get a traditional

Because of this, this added more complexity in the Greek life. The most important empire that has
risen around this time would be the Athenian Empire which brought more trade, colonization, more
complex economy, and most of all war. The rise between the two city states, Sparta and Athens, was
due to the development of aristocratic clans that would soon replace chiefdoms. Around 508 to 478
BC, the history of Athens history towards an imperial empire was a complicated process. When the
intervention from Sparta occurred, it just pushed Athens more to a democracy even further. Persia
proclaimed a threat, as a result Sparta and Athens came together but in the end Sparta s military
reputation has been strengthen, while Athens lost their land and city, but for some reason appeared
stronger throughout the war. They owned the sea, and their navy proved to be the best defense against
the Persians. After that event, the balance of power switched towards Athens rather than Sparta since
representatives of Athens and other representatives of the city states met up and created the Delian
League. Sparta unfortunately did not want any part of this, so as a result, it just showed that Athens is
the new leader of this Greek Alliance. In the beginning of this league, everything went smoothly. For
example, they won a couple fights against Persia. But since they were so powerful, this became a
threat to all its allies especially Sparta since they can be easily disposed out. This was when the league
was seen as an Athenian Empire, they looked like bullies but imperially. A couple years later, Sparta
destroyed Athens by land and sea. The most tragic event that has happened to them is that their Long
Walls were demolished by Sparta. Throughout this period, play writers, sculptors, and architects has
emerged, and are still known and studied today. People such as Sophocles, Aeschylus, and Euripides.

Walden Tone
Walden Tone The tone of the excerpt from Walden is critical of the way the American population
lives. This is seen by Thoreau s comparisons of the American lifestyle to people or beings that do not
live logically, such as the greedy man who was turned into an ant by Zeus in one of Aesop s fables, or
the pygmies and the cranes that fought a war until the pygmy population was decimated. He states in
the excerpt that he wanted to . . . live so sturdily and Spartan like as to put to rout all that is not life,
(Thoreau, 2). This quotation emphasizes that the American people are not able to truly live life since
they tend to live in extravagant excess. Thoreau moves from American excess to the railroad swiftly.

Thoreau criticizes his fellow humans when he states that they have somewhat hastily concluded that it
is the chief end of man here to glorify God and enjoy him forever, (Thoreau, 2). The indicated
quotation shows that Thoreau believes that his fellow citizens have not actually taken the time to look
at all the facts of life in order to make an educated decision about what life is for. Thoreau intends to
tell the world what life is about since he believes that many humans are in a strange uncertainty about
it, whether it is of the devil or of God, (Thoreau, 2). If people are uncertain about who created life,
Thoreau suggests that they take away all the superficial aspects of it and examine its bare bones.
However, many people wish to live extravagantly and do not know who or what created life, nor do
they wish to give up their material possessions to find out. In the event that people did discern what
life was and who created it, Thoreau would not have to be critical of them as they would live the way
he did and they would not have anything that was not necessary for their survival, which would itself
make them happy. Thus, if humankind cared more about the basics of life rather than its extravagance,
Thoreau might not have felt the need to disapprove of

Analysis Of The Poem The Womb By Apirana Taylor
An important message that is conveyed in the poem The Womb by Apirana Taylor is The Impact of
Colonisation on the Land This message is emphasised throughout the poem by using effective
language features such as narrative point of view, imagery and contrast. A persona is used throughout
the poem to talk directly to the reader and make them feel responsible. Imagery creates a powerful
picture in the reader s mind making them realise the impact on the land. Finally, there is an admirable
sense of contrast in this poem going from anger to vengeance.
One of the most noticeable language features used in this poem is narrative point of view. It s written
in second person, so Papatuanuku (god of the land) explains her perspective on NZ colonisation ...

The first half has an angry tone to begin with towards the colonisers for what has been done to the
land. This changes to being vengeful and threatening to all of mankind with real world warnings.
Papatuanuku angrily explains our actions and will strike back in ways we don t expect that is deadly to
all humans. For instance, the land says Ruamoko the unborn god rumbles within me and the fires of
Ruapehu still lives Ruamoko is god of the volcanos and Mount Ruapehu is an active volcano in New
Zealand which last had a major eruption twenty years ago. Papatuanuku is threatening us and
foreshadows the future that one day, Ruapehu will erupt. The author s purpose of writing about threats
to humanity is to remind us of the horrible actions we have committed to our environment. There are
numerous instances nationally and internationally where the land has taken its revenge by killing
millions of humans, animals and infrastructure. One of the world s deadliest earthquakes and tsunamis
were in Ache, Indonesia (2004) with a magnitude of 9.1, killing 280,000 people. This earthquake is
the perfect example of the land taking revenge. Its intention was to cause death and destruction and

Characteristics In The Colonies Of America
The first characteristic in the colonies of America that can be described as democratic would be
examples of majority rule in the different facets of the everchanging governmental structures. This
characteristic can be seen in the Mayflower Compact which began from forty one separatists who
came across for religious freedom. This compact was designed by those of their religion, and was
structured as a covenant which grew into a civil government based from that original church
government. This compact allowed the group equal say in rules and law, and chose a governor and his
assistants by majority rule. The next example of majority rule also was designed from a standpoint of
a church organization. Thomas Hooker led congregations from Massachusetts Bay to Connecticut and
there organized a self governing colony. They formed what was called the Fundamental Orders which
were a series of laws that created a commonwealth based on Christianity. However, different from the
Mayflower Compact, the Fundamental Orders were voted on by all members of the community not
just church members. The best example of majority rule would be what was called the House of
Burgesses in Virginia, but under various other names in other areas, such as the House of
Representatives in Massachusetts. These structures of government were formed from elected
assemblies, where the lower houses were elected by the popular vote. These elected officials were
usually wealthy, male property owners which

In a translation of a poem or novel the true intention behind the author s words can be lost or

whereas the women in Beowulf are seen playing three major roles: monster, peacemaker, and hostess

Utilization Of Water Ethical Issue
Hi Aldi and Jenna, I appreciate that you shared about different ethical and legal issues relating to
water
as a resource. This is really an important point that if the State is inefficient in proper utilization of
water, Federal Government should either find some alternative for proper utilization of water or
declare State of Emergency. The argument strongly support different water ethics concept. But, this
might create a situation where it changes from ethical issue to the political issue. The whole idea to
implement this requires to work on certain prerequisites. Regulating the equivalent use of water at
domestic level is a major ethical issue. Agricultural sector and industries requires high level of water
per day as compared to domestic

We should also remember to take into consideration social desirability bias: the tendency of
respondents to answer questions in a way they think will be viewed favorably by others, which may
influence the reliability of our findings.
i. Dependent variable
The dependent variable chosen is Interest in Politics , a numeric ordinal variable. We had to invert the
scale so that larger values of Y imply higher interest in politics, in line with the other variable s scale.
It now ranges from 1 ( not at all interested) to 4 ( very interested ). With respect to the initial data
screening, we checked the presence of missing values in our dependent variable. As shown in the
table, the percentage of missing data is not significant in relation to our threshold of 5% considered to
be the general rule of thumb.
ii. Independent variable
While describing the independent variables chosen, we have to consider that some are latent nature,
meaning that the underlying concepts cannot be measured directly. In order to create a meaningful
value for said variables, we carried out a factor analysis with the aim of extracting two factors. In our
analysis we also included 3 dummy variables, one single variable and the usual control variables. A

  • 2. Ender s Game Analysis Essay Ender s Game Analysis In the movie Ender s Game, there are many differences and many similarities between the book and the movie. The reader would have noticed more differences than did similarities. Some of the differences in the movie were large, some were subtle. Some parts were left out of the movie entirely. The main scenes that are going to be concentrated on in this paper are The Giant s Drink, Ender s progression through the ranks, the buggers, and Graff s control over the soldiers. In the book and the movie alike, The Giant s Drink is a game engineered by the IF to train strategic thinking. The main conflict in the game is when a seemingly impassable giant gives you the choice to drink from 2 chalices, and it is established that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the book, Ender first fought Bonzo, and then proceeded to fight 2 armies, where afterward he was promoted from Battle School to Command School. In the movie, Ender first fought 2 armies, one of them being Bonzo s. Only afterwards Ender was confronted by Bonzo, and while Ender was watching Bonzo in the infirmary after the fight, Graff approached him and informed him about his promotion. The makers of the movie rearranged the order of the fights and the promotions in order to give Bonzo a stronger reason to confront Ender (the defeat of his army and previous reasons), therefore building up to the fight, most likely to make the plot simpler. Indian and International Accounting Standards Indian and International Accounting Standards Practices Introduction: Accounting Standards are used as one of the main compulsory regulatory mechanisms for preparation of general purpose financial reports and subsequent audit of the same, in almost all countries of the world. Accounting standards are concerned with the system of measurement and disclosure rules for preparation and presentation of financials statements. Do we need to harmonize the accounting standards of different bodies? Different companies observe it from published annual accounts of various Indian companies that there are divergent accounting practices for the same transaction. This in effect is defeating the comparability of financial statements. The reasons for the different accounting practices may be: a) Too many alternative accounting treatments in the accounting standards; b) Lack of harmony among government, standards setting body, and regulatory agencies; * Adoption of different accounting standards causes difficulties in making relative evaluation of performance of companies. This phenomenon hinders the valuation and consequently the decision making process. * To overcome these problems, harmonization of accounting standards has already been started. Accounting harmonization is not an end by itself, but it is a means to an end. The ultimate objective of harmonizing accounting practices among countries is to foster international comparability of accounts. * But still the harmonization process has a long way to go. Many standard setting bodies and regulators of different nations are ardent protectors of their local standards; they are in no mood to allow their job being taken over by a foreign entity. * Thus winning the consent of these bodies is vital for international accounting standards to don the mantle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The constant pressure that the Texas government apply on the teenage population about sex before marriage makes them think that their only solution when a teenage girl gets pregnant is abortion. Abortion is legal and accessible in Texas, and the majority of Texas metropolitan areas have abortion clinics. This kind of education would work better if the state chooses to teach about contraception methods, and the importance of abstinence. The only proven method for reducing pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease, the studies say, is to combine the abstinence message with one that teaches young people how to protect themselves against pregnancy and disease . However, the state opposes to teach about contraception because they do not want to give the impression that the state supports premarital sex. This conclusion from the Texas government is completely awful, because if the state teaches the teenage population about the importance and usage of contraception methods many teenage pregnancies could be prevented. Contraception can be extremely effective at preventing unwanted pregnancies when it is used consistently and correctly. • 11. Essay On Women And African American History To many people, America s history may appear to be a series of events shaped by the decisions and actions of white men. However, this perspective fails to recognize the tremendous impacts that minority groups had, have, and will have in shaping and influencing America s past, present, and future. The Revolutionary War is an example of how women and African Americans played an important role in critical events in American history. In the Revolutionary War, Americans fought for freedom and independence from Britain, leading to the birth of our nation. Without the contributions of women and African Americans, the Revolutionary War may not have been successful, and American history may have followed a very different course. During the Revolutionary War, the Patriot soldiers fighting for freedom needed help in many ways to support their mission on and beyond the battleground. Women supported the Patriots in unique and important ways. Document 1 contains an agreement that the Edenton Ladies Patriotic Guild signed on October 27, 1774. It states, The provincial deputies of North Carolina having resolved not to drink any more tea nor wear any more British cloth, etc. The Edenton Ladies agreement to not buy or use any British goods offered a form of economic pressure, and strengthened the ability of America to try to break away from the British rule. • 12. The Political Economy Of Globalization Joseph Stiglitz and Layna Mosley both discuss globalization in detail and both have similar views regarding globalization. In the chapter The Political Economy of Globalization Layna Mosley asks the question whether globalizations effect on government policy making has adverse effects on the state of the global economy or if governments retain autonomy in regards to policymaking despite globalization. She analyzes trends in globalization and the hypothesis of the race to the bottom as well as economic openness and if government are truly in control of capital markets. Joseph Stiglitz however analyzes globalization in a historical and current point of view and how the management of globalization has comparatively helped developed nations extensively more than developing/poor nations. Stiglitz s supports his argument regarding the poor management of globalization by arguing that monopoly power created by patents and the TRIPs agreement has resulted in an unfair global market and is overall very critical of trade agreements. This paper will summarize and critically analyze these two readings and why both texts make strong a valid point in regards to the management of globalization and its effect on the global environment. Furthermore this paper will argue why the texts support the claim that globalization has not only prospered but also resulted in the end of the nation state because of the increasing interdependence between countries all around the world. Another strategy commonly used is Discounts for the early payments , This is where a business may offer discounts to account customers for the early payment of their accounts to speed up cash inflow. This discount may be a little as 2 5%, but shows effective in terms of cash inflow as it gives incentive for the customers, Giving both the customer and business a gain in the financial situation. Other incentives for early payment could include small gifts and discounts on future orders that the customers may have. A broad range of materials that comprise biomass could be damage if new processes need to be developed for each feedstock. The building blocks extracted from biomass are foreign to traditional chemical producers and must be demonstrated to function similarly to existing building blocks. 8. There is an extracellular and cytoplasmic vestibule in each monomer which connects to a central amphipatic pore region that has a hydrophilic (α carbonyl groups) and hydrophobic surface that helps preventing permeation of larger molecules (Verkman et at, 2014). A man named Harrison who would be a sport super star in real life because of his outstanding talent is fitted with weights and other handicaps to make him like everyone else. He revolts and overcomes his handicaps but is soon killed for breaking the law. In this story discrimination plays a big part in how the main character revolts. In this story a boy becomes friends with an African American boy named Boyd and brings him home for lunch, when he gets home his mother is shocked to see her son with this boy. The mother assumes that the father works hard labor in the fields and that the boy will grow up and do the same. But that?s not the case, the boys father works in a factory. This is an example of discrimination because the mother assumes things just because he is black. The last example of discrimination as a theme for a short story is in The Lottery. • 25. Literature Has Functioned Throughout History As A Means Literature has functioned throughout history as a means of social criticism that is accessible to the lay public. Classics like Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and Uncle Tom s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe leverage their plots to reveal alarming realities and comment on social issues. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is one of the earliest examples of literary social criticism. Hawthorne uses the plight of the main character, Hester Prynne, a convicted adulterer in a society that severely punishes sinners, to take a stand against Puritanism and the religious conservatism that stains the memory of his ancestors. In a similar fashion, the film Easy A, directed by Will Gluck, confronts puritanical aspects of modern popular culture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a similar yet less overt approach, Easy A portrays religious hypocrisy through the use of dialogue juxtaposed with music. As a result of her notoriety for allegedly losing her virginity, Olive Penderghast incurs the wrath of the school s conservative religious group led by fellow student Marianne Bryant. In a scene at a club meeting, Marianne complains about how Jesus tells us to love everyone. Even the whores and the homosexuals, but it s so hard (Royal 65). As she is making her intolerant comments, the song Oh! Let My People Go: The Song of the Contrabands, is played in the background. The juxtaposition of a song that was historically sung by slaves as a sign of freedom is in contradiction with Marianne s rhetoric. Subtle undertones are used in the movie to negatively portray religion as fanatical and suppressive. Just as it can be inferred that Hawthorne disliked the Calvinist fundamentalist version of Christianity the Puritans practiced, it can also be inferred that the directors from liberal Hollywood dislike forms of religious extremism. This is certainly the case in later scenes in the movie when protestors from Marianne s club hackle Olive with signs saying OLIVE PENDERGHAST IS A WHORE (Royal 72). Easy A includes many overt references to The Scarlet Letter, for instance Olive embraces her role as the school skank and begins wearing provocative lingerie with a ... There are many verses such as this that express the longing for a culture without violence that is attributed to the ethical values of Judaism. Upon further research including an ethnographic study it was clear that followers of Judaism truly value the culture of non violence. It is these ethics and values within the Judaistic tradition for the development of non violence that are invaluable for contemporary society as they help to create a safer civilisation. Firstly, the Torah or Hebrew bible has many different examples and teachings on violence, non violence, punishment and war (Freeman, 2015). Isaiah 2:4 states He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into ploughshares And their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. The thirst for a world without violence is clearly portrayed in this passage and it appears to reflect one of the strongest values of Judaism. However in Joel 4:9 10 this idiom is reused in a far more barbaric manner (Heft, 2004). Announce this to the nations: Proclaim a holy war! Alert the warriors! Let all the soldiers report and march! • 30. Francisco De Goya Black Paintings Francisco de Goya s Pinturas negras, or Black Paintings, are some of the most grotesque and unsettling images in art history, with one painting in particular, Saturno devorando a su hijo, or Saturn Devouring One of His Sons, standing out the most amongst them all. With his wildly staring eyes, gaping mouth and half eaten son in his hands, it makes one wonder what would drive an artist to create an image like this. Goya, however, was not uneducated in the horrors of the world, witnessing the travesties of the Peninsular War, the atrocities of the Spanish Inquisition, surviving two life threatening illnesses, with one leaving him completely deaf, and the death of six of his seven children. Perhaps it was one of these instances in particular that encouraged him to conceiving this disconcerting figure, or perhaps it was a combination of the three. At the beginning of Goya s career, in 1777, he was commissioned to create a series of tapestry cartoons from the Royal Tapestry Factory, designing some 42 patterns over five years. Some of his more popular paintings were originally tapestry cartoons such as The Parasol. His use of the popular Rococo style, brought him to the attention of the aristocracy of Spain. In 1789, he was appointed to court painter to Charles IV and then the following year, he became First Court Painter. His portraits of the king, queen and royal family, were anything but flattering. Around 508 to 478 BC, the history of Athens history towards an imperial empire was a complicated process. When the intervention from Sparta occurred, it just pushed Athens more to a democracy even further. Persia proclaimed a threat, as a result Sparta and Athens came together but in the end Sparta s military reputation has been strengthen, while Athens lost their land and city, but for some reason appeared stronger throughout the war. He states in the excerpt that he wanted to . . . live so sturdily and Spartan like as to put to rout all that is not life, (Thoreau, 2). Thoreau criticizes his fellow humans when he states that they have somewhat hastily concluded that it is the chief end of man here to glorify God and enjoy him forever, (Thoreau, 2). The indicated quotation shows that Thoreau believes that his fellow citizens have not actually taken the time to look at all the facts of life in order to make an educated decision about what life is for. Thoreau intends to tell the world what life is about since he believes that many humans are in a strange uncertainty about it, whether it is of the devil or of God, (Thoreau, 2). If people are uncertain about who created life, Thoreau suggests that they take away all the superficial aspects of it and examine its bare bones. However, many people wish to live extravagantly and do not know who or what created life, nor do they wish to give up their material possessions to find out. In the event that people did discern what life was and who created it, Thoreau would not have to be critical of them as they would live the way he did and they would not have anything that was not necessary for their survival, which would itself make them happy. Thus, if humankind cared more about the basics of life rather than its extravagance, Thoreau might not have felt the need to disapprove of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Characteristics In The Colonies Of America The first characteristic in the colonies of America that can be described as democratic would be examples of majority rule in the different facets of the everchanging governmental structures. This characteristic can be seen in the Mayflower Compact which began from forty one separatists who came across for religious freedom. This compact was designed by those of their religion, and was structured as a covenant which grew into a civil government based from that original church government. This compact allowed the group equal say in rules and law, and chose a governor and his assistants by majority rule. The next example of majority rule also was designed from a standpoint of a church organization. Thomas Hooker led congregations from Massachusetts Bay to Connecticut and there organized a self governing colony. They formed what was called the Fundamental Orders which were a series of laws that created a commonwealth based on Christianity. However, different from the Mayflower Compact, the Fundamental Orders were voted on by all members of the community not just church members. The best example of majority rule would be what was called the House of Burgesses in Virginia, but under various other names in other areas, such as the House of Representatives in Massachusetts. These structures of government were formed from elected assemblies, where the lower houses were elected by the popular vote. • 44. Beowulf Women An In Depth Study of the Women of Beowulf In a translation of a poem or novel the true intention behind the author s words can be lost or misunderstood. The poem Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney is a great example of this. Heaney s translation suggested the role of women was limited to procreation or partnership (Sarmiento, 2012), whereas the women in Beowulf are seen playing three major roles: monster, peacemaker, and hostess (Rubie, 2014) and with those roles they gave a new perspective to the heroic theme of the book. The first role is the monster. This role is carried out solely by Grendel s mother. A monster is a person who decides to act against their sex s duties. They publicly establish the status of men who are in the presence of the king (Rubie, 2014), determine whether a hero deserves a token for their valor (Sarmiento, 2012), and make sure that everyone is following the social customs (Rubie, 2014). Wealtheow is the perfect example of a hostess. At the beginning of the poem she passes the cup of mead to each man in a specific order to express their ranking to the king. Then at the end of the poem Wealtheow publically disagreed with her husband (the king) and informed him that their sons rightfully deserved the throne before Beowulf (Rubie, 2014). A hostess is often the highest role a women can achieve within a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Utilization Of Water Ethical Issue Hi Aldi and Jenna, I appreciate that you shared about different ethical and legal issues relating to water as a resource. This is really an important point that if the State is inefficient in proper utilization of water, Federal Government should either find some alternative for proper utilization of water or declare State of Emergency. The argument strongly support different water ethics concept. But, this might create a situation where it changes from ethical issue to the political issue. The whole idea to implement this requires to work on certain prerequisites. Regulating the equivalent use of water at domestic level is a major ethical issue. Gastrointestinal Anastomotic Leak Research Paper C reactive Protein as Early Predictor of Gastrointestinal Anastomotic Leak Ashraf El Sayed Sayed Ahmed, Hamed Ahmed El Badawy, El Sayed Abdel Wahab, Hany Abdel Fatah Department of General Surgery, Al Azhar University Abstract: Background: Anastomotic leakage after colorectal surgery occurs in 5 15% of patients undergoing this type of surgery and leads to a substantial morbidity and mortality. Many factors determine the occurrence of anastomotic leakage and its sequelae, including both patients and surgery related factors. In the literature much emphasis in put upon the type and quality of surgery responsible for complications. However, many patient related factors have enormous bearing upon the occurrence of anastomotic leakage, as well as on the severity of the complication. The health ... Dependent variable The dependent variable chosen is Interest in Politics , a numeric ordinal variable. We had to invert the scale so that larger values of Y imply higher interest in politics, in line with the other variable s scale. It now ranges from 1 ( not at all interested) to 4 ( very interested ). With respect to the initial data

Independent variable While describing the independent variables chosen, we have to consider that some are latent nature, meaning that the underlying concepts cannot be measured directly. In order to create a meaningful value for said variables, we carried out a factor analysis with the aim of extracting two factors. In our analysis we also included 3 dummy variables, one single variable and the usual control variables. A brief ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
