The Sentimentally Of William Tavener Analysis
At the beginning of the story The Sentimentally of William Tavener, Ms. Hester states that she
believes Mr. William should allow their children to attend the annual circus. She begins
rambling about her experience at the circus as a child and the joy she remembers of it. She
expects not a word from Mr. William as always, but today he spoke up. To her surprise, Mr.
William had attended the same circus also remembers it joyfully. A explanation as to why the plot
is ordered this way is because they begin the story in a seemingly normal argument. They lead you
down a path of almost certainty until it is not. It even states that Ms. Hester is not custom to wait
for an answer because she is not expecting one and she does not have time between

Modern Techniques Of Mrs Dalloway
Virginia Woolf started writing Mrs. Dalloway in June 1922 and she completed the novel by
October 1924. With the publication of Mrs Dalloway in 1925, Woolf offered one of her greatest
novels to the literary world. Mrs Dalloway is known to be her one of the most experimental
novels as she experimented with the form of the novel. In this chapter there would be an
endeavour to analyse how Mrs Woolf has used modern techniques while writing this novel. The
novel is created from her two short stories, Mrs Dallowayin Bond Street and the unfinished The
Prime Minister . Mrs Dalloway is about a single day a Wednesday in mid June 1923 in life of
Clarissa Dalloway, the social hostess. Mrs Dalloway is the same who made a brief appearance in
The Voyage Out. There she was exquisite and bright and excessively interested and now at fifty
two, in Mrs Dalloway, a little wiser and more pensive.

Dalloway covers one day in life of an upper class housewife Clarissa Dalloway. The novel
interweaves two seemingly unconnected storylines. Clarissa, aged fifty two has recently
recovered from an illness. The novel begins with Mrs Dalloway s getting ready in the morning to
go out to buy flowers for her party she is to host that evening. Throughout the morning, Clarissa
reflects on her past, including her decision to marry reliable Richard Dalloway thirty years earlier,
instead of the enigmatic and demanding Peter Walsh. Her conflicts are reintroduced as Peter makes
a surprise visit to her at her home.
Meanwhile, the second storyline begins with Septimus Warren Smith, a shell shocked war veteran,
out on the street with his Italian wife, Lucrezia. Septimus struggles with the after effects of the
war, hearing voices and feeling that life has little meaning. A car backfiring paralyzes him, and he
reflects on his life. Septimus lost his good friend and commanding officer Evans in the war and
continues to carry on conversations with this lost

Alfred Hitchcock Point Of View
Alfred Hitchcock s cinematic style contains an array of stylistic devices, notably the point of view
shot. Using point of view editing, the audience repeatedly [sees] events through the eyes of an
individual character. (Walker) The audience is privy to only what the character knows and likewise
absorbs the character s emotional journey. As the audience s emotional investment/identification
with the protagonistgrows, so does the plot amplifying the audience s empathy for the character s
heartache, longing, and anxiety, creating the perfect recipe for a suspenseful thriller. Hitchcock
employs point of view editing in the films, Rear Windowand Vertigoto exemplify the protagonist s

The audience is only privy to the information that protagonist has. Therefore, the audience
experiences the same emotions and anxiety as the protagonist. Hitchcock controls how much
information the audience is given by narrowing it a single character s perspective. Like Jeffries,
the audience becomes suspicions as to whether or not his neighbor, Lars has actually murdered
his wife. Additionally, the audience feels the same panic and fear when he witnesses Lisa being
trapped in the apartment by Lars. As Jeffries focuses more on each character, the audience learns
more about that character s personality and life. For instance, Jeffries nicknames a woman in a
lower floor, Miss Lonelyhearts. Together the audience witnesses with Jeffries Miss Lonelyhearts
throwing an invisible guest a dinner party before she breaks down in tears. (Walker) After
identifying with her sadness, the audience feels an added sense of panic and anxiety when Miss
Lonelyhearts is seen with a bottle of pills and alcohol, insinuating suicidal plans at the same time

Cultural Identity In 1775 the then American colonies of Great Britain began fighting a
revolutionary war. This war, and the winning result of independence, led to many changes within
American society. Since then, America s capitalist economy and social progressive efforts have

identity is expressed is through art. Jackson Pollock was a revolutionary in the art industry.

Revolution And Social Movements
Revolutions and social movements can be a huge deal and cause major effects in history. Some
examples of them are the Ku Klux Klan and the French Revolution. These are just some of the
hundreds out there that have happened in the past or are happening now. One thing that I want to
point out is that they are not the same. Revolutions and social movements are very different in
several ways and similar in some.
Revolutions, they are a necessary change in the political power when people rise up against it.
Revolutions tend to be exceedingly more violent than social movements. For example, the
American Revolution was when the 13 colonies rejected the British monarchy and overthrew the
authority and founded the United States of America. There were various wars fought in this
revolution. Most were very bloody and violent. Over 10,000 soldiers were injured or killed in this
war. It may not seem like tons, but when the 13 colonies were first beginning there weren t very
many people living there anyways.
Social movements, they are large group actions that are usually focused on changing a political or
social problem. Social movements aren t as violent as revolutions, although they can tend to get
fairly violent. One example of a social movement would be the Ku Klux Klan. The Ku Klux Klan is

High Fructose Corn Syrup and Obesity in America When I was growing up my mother would
always steer me clear of sugary, unhealthy snacks. So much so that when I finally was able to get
a taste of them, I didn t want to stop. After tasting this new sensation my body craved more. The
cereals she bought paled in comparison to the bright, colorful flavors of the likes of Fruity Pebbles

sugar blasted name brand snacks. But my mother was adamant that her way was the best way,

The panel stated that since the ratio of fructose to glucose had not changed substantially in the
United States since the 1960s when HFCS was introduced, the changes in obesity rates were
probably not due to HFCS specifically, but rather a greater consumption of calories overall. In 2009
the American Medical Association published a review article on HFCS and concluded it was
unlikely that HFCS contributed more to obesity or other health conditions than sucrose, and there
was insufficient evidence to suggest warning about or restricting use of HFCS or other fructose
containing sweeteners in foods. The review did report that while some studies found direct
associations between high intakes of fructose and other sugars and adverse health outcomes,
including obesity and the metabolic syndrome, there was insufficient evidence to ban or restrict use
of HFCS in the food supply or to require warning labels on products containing

The Importance Of Caritas As A Catholic Social Organisation
Part A:
In New Zealand has a lot of Catholic social organisation. In this assessment I choose Caritas as a
Catholic social organisation.
Caritas Internationalis is a catholic organisation and social service. Their mission is to work to
build a better world, especially for the poor and oppressed. Caritas has social service
organisations in over 200 countries. And I will identify Caritas in Thailand because Thailand is
my homeland and Thailand has a lot of poor people. Many people in Thailand need the helping
from organisation and I think Caritas Thailand is a great organisation to service people. Caritas
Thailand is not only help or service people, they teach about the Catholic teaching to the people
too. Also people will get the Catholic social teaching from Caritas Thailand and this Catholic social
teaching is important for live.
Caritas Thailand is set up in March 1968, Catholic Bishops Conference of Thailand (CBCT) had
established commission for relief and development. At home or abroad, Caritas Thailand is able to
deploy immediate and effective humanitarian relief to people in needs. It has recently work in close
partnership with the global Caritas network to provide humanitarian aid to thousands of Syrian
refugee, providing foods and medical cares.

adults who do not suffer from a mental disability. Pediatricians consider it developmentally
wrong if Pica is found in children older than 18 24 months, due to the fact that by that age they
should know what is appropriate to consume. If the patient has a type of mental retardation, Pica
is found between the ages of 10 20 years old. It can also occur in young mothers in late
adolescence or early adulthood but all signs and symptoms should be gone by the end of their
pregnancy, however in some uncommon cases, Pica can continue sporadically for years post

The Consequences Of The Truman Doctrine
The foreign policy of the United States can be defined as a labyrinth a set of complex intricacies
which either lack comprehension or are characterized by meticulous thought. Established during a
period of ideological warfare and domestic hysteria, it is evident the Truman Doctrine was
conceived with a disregard for the future stability of American international affairs. Engulfed
within a period marked by massive power struggles and distorted accusations, the Truman Doctrine
may appear minimal in regard to alterations of the United States international attitude. However,
the Doctrine acted as a catalyst for the shift in America s foreign policy objectives and vision. It is
clear the Truman Doctrine produced detrimental consequences in regard to the international policy
of the United States, stability of foreign countries, and continuing repercussions in the modern day.
Following the Allies victory in World War II, and preceding the historical period of the Red Scare,
relations between the Soviet Union and the United States were relatively neutral (in spite of the
drastically different ideological viewpoints). Contrary to popular belief the Doctrine was originally
constructed to quell communist uprisings, it is clear the intention was to establish stability within
European nations vital to the economic interests of the United States (Gaddis 11). As domestic
tidings began to alter as a result of the Red Scare, the Doctrine would become a stigma for
ideological conflict

Expectancy refers to what an individual expects or predicts what may happen in an interaction
(Dickter Gyurovski, 2012; Miller Ott Kelly, 2015; Sidelinger Bolen, 2015). Researchers note that
predictive expectancies are what individuals expect in a certain situation based on what generally
happens in a specific context, while prescriptive expectancies are what individuals expect based on
the social norms of what is appropriate (Sidelinger Bolen, 2015; Walther Martin, 2015).
Furthermore, arousal may take place when a person s expectations are violated (Dickter Gyurovski,
2012; Johnson, 2012; West Turner, 2014). Arousal is shown through an increase in interest or
attention when deviations from expectations occur (West Turner, 2014). Threat threshold is the
distance at which an interactant experiences physical and psychological discomfort by the presence

Cloning Used To Be Considered Science Fiction
The idea of cloning used to be considered science fiction, that was until dolly was made. In the late
90 s Scottish scientist, Ian Wilmut and Keith Campbell along with colleagues from the Roslin
Institute accomplished the first cloning in history Cloning is basically creating a copy of
something, but in genetic cloningmeans creating an identical copy of existing DNA (of an
organism) . The final object was named Dolly, born on July 5, 1996 she was the first clone to be
produced from a mammal cell. The scientist didn t announce Dolly s existence until nearly seven
months later, gaining much attention TIME magazine featured Dolly the Sheep. Dolly later had 6
lambs. In 2001 Dolly developed arthritis, but was treated with medicine. Dolly s death was
euthanized because she was suffering from lung cancer and severe arthritis. Ever since then
cloning became useful in the medical field for many reasons. There are 3 types of cloning.
Molecular cloning which is also known as gene cloning is used for making identical copies of
DNA molecules inside of chromosomes. Then there is Organism cloning also referred to as
reproductive cloning and it is basically making a complete copy of a whole organism. Lastly there
is Therapeutic cloning, it s useful for treating diseases, it s copying human embryos for production
of stem cells. But during the process embryos are destroyed. Just as many ethical topics in the
medical field, cloning has it s pro s and cons.

The Choices Among Model Assessment Statistics
Compare and contrast the choices amongst model assessment statistics
There are two factors that determine the appropriate validation assessment rating or assessment
statistics. Firstly the target measurement scale and secondly the prediction type. For a binary target
with a primary outcome(target=1) and secondary outcome(target=0) there are three types of
prediction types a.) decisions b.) ranking and c.) estimates. When the prediction type is decision
for a binary target, it works to match the primary decision with the primary outcome yielding a
correct decision called as true positive and matches the secondary decision with the secondary
outcome yielding a correct decision called as true negative. In this case the decision predictions
are rated by their accuracy in other words in order to maximize accuracy there should be
agreement between the outcome and prediction. Also, when the secondary decision mismatches
with the primary outcome it yields an incorrect decision called as false negative. Similarly, when
primary decision mismatches with secondary outcome it yields an incorrect decision called as
false positive. In this case the decision predictions can be rated by their misclassification rate
wherein to minimize misclassification there should be very less disagreement between the actual
outcome and predictions. In ranking predictions, the cases are ranked based on their likelihood of
being a primary or secondary outcome. When the primary and secondary cases are

Mr. Hamilton was especially interested in France and England. He came to realize that it was
England s economic structure that would provide him with a sturdy basis for creating an
acceptable economic system. (Todd 1 2)
The First Bank of United States 1791 to 1811. Mr. Hamilton urged Congress to adopt the model
he had come up with, which included one national bank that would hold the federal government
s deposits and would lend to the government and business. Though there was much opposition,
the proposal was accepted but the bank s charter was given a 20 year limit. The bank, known as
First Bank or Bank of United States, helped to bring the economy of the country together.
However, it was a private institution where foreigners owned 70 percent of the bank and this
concerned the citizens of the United States. When the charter was up for renewal it was rejected
and the bank was closed in 1811. ( First Bank of the United States 1 16)

the short as well as long term outlook for linerboard prices and the profitability of the linerboard
industry. Furthermore, what basis, if any, is there for expecting AtlanticRoyal s combined
linerboard and box mill operations to do better/worse than the industry overall?

As we know, Atlantic Corporation was considered as one of the nation s largest forest products
producer, its operations in the linerboard industry have not been strong. Hence, if Atlantic
purchased Royal s Monticello mill, it would increase its profit margin greatly. Additionally, it was
expected that 1984 would be a healthy year for this industry, the chances got higher again that
Atlantic could position well in the overall industry.
2. Is the price of $319 million reasonable for the Monticello Mill and Box Plants based on a cash
flow analysis? Assume cash flows consistent with Table A, Table B and Exhibit 3, a discount rate
of 13%, and a terminal value equal to the book value of assets in1993.

Deflation And The Theory Of Truth
Deflation Accounts of Causation
Introduction
Several different theories accounts exist attempting to explain whether truth exists. Some of the
common causation accounts include the deflation account, reifications, covering law model and
unificationism accounts. The Deflation theory of truth states that a predicament of the truth does not
attribute the property of the truth to a particular statement. Several theories are present under the
deflation accounts of causation. They include the redundancy theory of truth and the perfection
theory of the truth. These two theories are the major dominant theory around deflation accounts of
causation. Although both theories attempt to explain and substantiate truth in a statement, the
redundancy theory is stronger compared to the perfection theory of truth. The redundancy theory is
claimed to be the first theory that came close to explaining predicaments of truth in a statement. No
other account has achieved the same fate as the redundancy account.
Redundancy Theory of Truth Also known as the disquotational theory of truth, the redundancy
theory holds that a statement will always remain the truth even before if the predictive statement
misses. The most common predicament statement used by most people is the it is truth . For
example, when an individual says, Snow is white, it means that snow is white and even when the
predictive statement is added it does not change the nature of the sentence (Damnjanovic, 2005).

The Impact Of Slavery On Black Families Today
Before I started to read this article, I thought of many ways and experiences of how slavery affected
black families to still have an impact on us today. I feel that, slavery impacted black families
strongly. Some ways slavery impacted black families is by, the way we cook and prepare food,
while slaves we had to find ways to cook food for our family, some other ways slaveryhas impacted
black families today is also by, bringing black families close together by, giving us the urge to want
to know about our people and where we came from, slavery today has given us independence to
work and get our own, also, one of the most important ways I feel slavery has impacted black

Arthur Miller And Elia Kazan
Relationship between Arthur Miller and Elia Kazan
I think it s a mistake to ever look for help outside of oneself Arthur Miller. This statement can be
used to describe the complicated relationship between Arthur Miller and Elia Kazan during the
Red Scare. Both Miller and Kazan were at the height of their career during this timeframe and the
major focus on communism was the start of downfall of their friendship. Miller and Kazan had
friction over the decades in both their professional lives as well as personal lives. There were many
issues from the personal issue of Marilyn Monroe to professional conflict, but society s focus on
communism and figuring out who supported the idealism was the final strain that caused
irreparable damage. The red scare was during the late 1940s and early 1950s. It was a time in
history when the fear of communism would spread throughout the United States causing
widespread panic. The red scare had a dramatic effect on every aspect of life in the United States
of America from your average citizens to the Hollywood elite. The red scare was a time period
when paranoia caused people to question everybody and quickly assume anyone and everyone
could be a spy for the Soviet Union. Citizens and government officials were suspicious of
communist activity and actively searched for any that were among them. People started blaming
others they suspected of being communist sympathizers. This is similar to plot and outline of The

The Role Of Human Nature In American Culture
What does my culture tell me about human nature? Good question, but first, we need to establish,
what is human nature? I would say, human nature is what makes us unique, it is something
captured at birth, its instinctive, biological and something that differentiates us from every other
species on earth. The question then becomes, can our cultureinfluence this natural state, or are we
pre disposed as humanbeings to be inherently different from one another based on origin of birth. I

Essay on Lack of Economic Equality in Society
Everywhere in the world there are gross inequities of income and wealth. They offend most of us
stated Milton and Rose Friedman in Created Equal (280) .
Economic inequalities cause poverty, this disparity fuels social conflict. This economic
oppression thrives within the heart of all societies. Poverty is recognized in many
forms: hunger, homelessness, being ill without the ability to seek medical attention.
Poverty also includes powerlessness, lack of freedom, spurred on by lack of
representation. During economic change, whether gradual or suddenly, the fallout has an
effect on all people. Social inequality is deeply and tightly woven throughout the world,

The social conflict paradigm recognizes that patterns which benefit some people more than others
due to their social standings. America was once described a rich and free country where the streets
are paved with gold and opportunity is knocking around every corner. Why then, are there so many
poor people in America and more disturbingly that most of these poverty level people are women?
The answer is quite recognizable, the disparity originates with economic inequality. Economic
society does not provide the same opportunities for a man versus a Woman, nor to poor people
versus people who come from a rich and prestigious family. For example, assume that a man and a
woman both with the same academic backgrounds and qualifications apply for a job, the man has
a marginally superior chance to secure the job as opposed to the woman?s odds. Discrimination
plays a paramount role in our society today and discrimination and favoritism is what fuels and
sustains economic inequality. The woman applicant doesn?t have the same advantages, written or
not written, spoken or unspoken than that of the man, these factors create social barriers. Often
times we wonder why is this happen, because we are created equal as
Thomas Jefferson emphasized in

appearance. Mary Beth s gangly body towered over the other fourth graders, and her lemon
blonde hair rested on her shoulders in knotted clumps. Strands of hair constantly fell in front of
her face, and she would constantly sculpt them behind her ear. Every day she came dressed for
school in brilliant colored leggings partially covered by a relaxed sweatshirt unevenly rolled at
the sleeves. Her plump belly took shape under her shirts, creasing slightly, like a curtain
conforming to its width. Her feet plowed into her white Keds and snuggled inside fluorescent

Parents Keep Child s Gender Secret By Jayme Poisson
In Parents Keep Child s Gender Secret, Jayme Poisson describes how one family choses to raise
their child genderless. They are also keeping the child s sex a secret, although it is not clear if
they are trying to allow the child to define its sex. Gender and sex are two different distinctions that
are often mistakenly seen as the same thing. Society places genderexpectations based on sex, so it s
easy to see why they are looked at as the same thing. It s important to remember that gender
represents a choice, while sex is determined before you are born. The option of choosing is
important when considering the ethics of raising a child. It s why I believe that it is ethical to
allow a child to define their gender and unethical to allow a child to define their sex.
There are three common arguments against allowing a child to define their gender. The first
common argument is that the child will bullied and may not be mature enough to handle it.
Unfortunately, children can be bullied for a number of reasons regardless of their gender. Parents
do not allow bullying to affect other decisions and they should not allow bullying to interfere with
who their child wants to be either. It is he one doing the bullying that has a problem, not their child.
The second common argument against allowing a child to define their gender is that friends and
family will disapprove. However, there is always someone who will disapprove of any decision
you make. Voting, eating meat, sexual

Examples Of Reality As Contradiction
The second dialectic concept is reality as contradiction. Reality as contradiction is not this or that ,
but often this and that at the same time. Contradiction is the unity of opposites. An example of
reality as a contradiction would be when Abramoff was in prison and was accused of harassing a
rabbi. While in prison, he was trying to get access to Torahand spoke with the rabbi about getting
one. With the Jewish holiday right around the corner, Abramoff wanted to make sure he had the
Torah in time. The rabbi agreed to lend him one, but then he was later accused of harassing the

The basis for motion is contradiction. Readers will come to notice that Abramoff s life is fueled
by an event or change in his life that is contradictory to what he actually wants to do. Before
Abramoff became a notorious lobbyist his career was imbedded in movie making. He was in his
mid thirties when he started producing films and was constantly traveling, which led him to be
away from his five kids and wife. Abramoff wanted to be involved in his children s life and didn t
want to leave raising the kids up to his wife to do alone. As a producer, he was constantly
working and traveling and had little to no time to spend with his family. This really took a toll on
Abramoff because he knew he was missing the most important years of his kids lives. Abramoff
was in a very conflicted spot because he wanted to be that amazing father and husband, but also
work at the same time. After much thought, Abramoff dropped his career in film making and began
lobbying. This is an example of motion energized through contradiction because his contradiction
powered the motion that transitioned him from film producer to notorious

General Bernard Montgomery s Larg Operation Market Garden
The year is 1944, and the Allies are drawing closer to victory everyday. A daring plan arises soon
after the successful invasion of Normandy; this plan, alternatively, ends in disaster. Had everything
gone as the good General Bernard Montgomery had hoped, the war would have been finished by
Christmas; a large blow against the Germans was needed to relieve the troops in Normandy, who
were then facing both German soldiers and difficult, unfamiliar terrain. General Montgomery had
devised a plan that would push the Alliesthrough Holland and past the strongest of Germany s
defences. The idea was simple: the Allied Airborne Division would drop paratroopers in, who
would then take eight important bridges around Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Arnhem. These troops
would then fight through Nazi controlled Holland and into the heart of Germany, winning the war.
The historic battle of Arnhem was codenamed Operation Market Garden. When it was conceived,
the idea was that a quick strike through Holland and into Germany would be able to end the war
and bring relief to the troops battling through terrain and soldiers in Normandy. The original plan
was very much like the invasion of Normandy: a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

months before the Allies made it across the Rhine and into Germany s industrial area. Had the
operation been canceled, the resources could have been diverted elsewhere, and may have been
more help at ending the war. As it is, Operation Market Garden will forever go down as a stain on
history; if more intelligence and time had gone into planning the operation, it could have turned the
tide of the war and allowed the Allies a much quicker, less painful

educated are those who climb up the success ladders later in life. For a certain majority of students

Techniques and skills need to be learnt, and cannot be replaced by the convenience of technology.
In the primary years, students ought to be grounded with the basics. Once they miss this window, it
requires them more to be trained later in life. I marvel at the speed of our technology advancement,
but how I desire to see academic advancement in our next generation.
Kindergarten teachers always earn my greatest respect. In California, the class size has increased to
22 students for kindergarten to third grade. One teacher versus 22 students, coming from different
background and educational level, really is a big challenge for another to take. Given that some
students have gone through preschool and some who have never had any group experience prior to
entering kindergarten, that creates a gigantic tap among the kids in one class. The first couple
months into the school year, teachers would spend the majority of time establishing structure,
routine, and disciplines. Without these being taken place in the beginning of the year, teaching is
almost an impossible task to accomplish. The class size needs to be limited to maximize the
discipline and the learning, or another option is to have a teacher s aid in the class to assist the
lead teacher. Reduction of class size benefits both the teachers and the students. With a small size,
teachers can better control their classrooms, and thus, able to allocate

Compare And Contrast Art And Renaissance Art
When one ponders the significance of the artwork that was produced during the Renaissance,
Baroque and
Rococo stylistic periods, advancement in scientific understanding during these periods may seem to
be nothing more than an afterthought. For centuries, the quest for scientific knowledge and
understanding by the artisan community had been smothered by the Christian church who fulfilled
the role of main patron of art during the Middle Ages. However, the
15th to 18th century experienced a turning point, not just creatively, but also in relation to artisans
inculcating an every increasing scientific knowledge base into their creative works (The Art

periods demonstrated the deepening relationship between art and scientific knowledge:
Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo. During the Renaissance, one of the most influential artists,
Leonardo Da Vinci, embodied the spirit of the
Renaissance due to his multifaceted expertise in numerous fields outside of art. Leonardo Da Vinci
had a passion for scientific exploration, specifically relating to the anatomy and physiology (A P) of
the human body (The Art Institute of

so that he can accurately and precisely portray the human body in his artwork (The Art Institute of

vividly detailed sketches of the skeletal system, muscular system, and organ systems of the human
body. One work in particular entitled sketch of Uterus and Foetus brilliantly illustrates how
Leonardo melded science and art. On first glance, the eye is immediately drawn to the detailed

being able to get access to the alarm management network and disable all of the alarms in a
stadium. This could prove to be disastrous in the case of an actual emergency because there
would be no way to notify attendees to evacuate the stadium, go on lockdown, or take any other
precautions necessary in the case of an emergency. In order to prevent this, we propose that all
stadiums keep all operating systems up to date. By doing so, this lessens the number of flaws in the
operating system that can be taken advantage of by hackers to infiltrate

Foils In Sophocles Antigone
Stand up or Don t stand at all
In a human s lifetime someone has to stand up for what they believe in, in order to make a
difference. The Greek play Antigone, by Sophocles takes place in the city of Thebes and is about
two sisters, Ismene and Antigone, reacting to the deaths of their two brothers. Ismene and Antigone
s two brothers were at war on opposites sides of a civil war. They ended up killing each other in
combat. Since the brothers, who were supposed to be the next kings of Thebes, were dead, the
throne was passed to their uncle Creon. Creon, considering Polyneices a traitor, decides that he
will only honor the brother Eteocles. This infuriates Antigone, who decides she will honor
Polyneices by burying him, despite the law made against it. In the first scene Antigone takes her
sister Ismene outside to the private gates to talk about her brother Polyneices not being able to be
buried. They go back and forth over Antigone s choice to bury their brother. Ismene doesn t want

As Ismene shows her cowardice, insecurity, and selfishness, Antigone s traits of bravery,
confidence and selflessness are highlighted making her seem like the better character. Whereas
Antigone was constantly willing to sacrifice her safety in order to do do what was right for her
brother while Ismene repeatedly tried to bring up options so that she could secure her safety.
Even today, there are people trying to make a difference and do what they think is morally right
just like Antigone, in the face of people like Ismene, who are too worried about the negative
consequences of their actions to do the right thing. Some activists such as Harriet Tubman, Martin
Luther King, and Nelson Mandela, stood up for what they believed in, despite breaking the laws
of their times. If more people took a chance and stood up for what they believed in there would be
more people fighting for good than

Database Security. This paper contains all relevant material which aligns with the mission of this
course to teach students the tools and techniques required to secure and audit a database system in
the information technology era.
Abstract As discussed in her book Introduction to Private Security author Karen M. Hess states that
security is something which people have sought since the beginning of recorded time. For instance,

Introduction Computer Information Systems (CIS) have forever altered the way in which
organizations conduct business. No longer is commerce managed through clunky and expensive
paper based transactions. The advantage of this archaic process, though, was that it allowed
corporations to store their documents in secure locations under tight lock key. Today however,
these cabinets have been replaced with database systems. Database systems are the modern
version of filing cabinets, which house the vast data transacted by corporations. Although
databases have eliminated the need for paper based transactions, they have exposed themselves
to a different problem altogether. As SANS (2015) puts it, most of an organization s information
[today] is maintained in a small, central location, compared to the large file rooms associated
with the pre information technology era, therefore those desiring to cause harm to a large amount
of information in a short time span now have a convenient means to do so. Because of this
paradigm shift, IT professionals should enforce modern database security auditing policies in
order to protect data. But are organizations under attack? Well a shocking statistic by Gartner
shows that, 75% attacks come from web applications and 2/3rd of web applications are vulnerable.
And as per OWASP, 2013, SQLInjection based attacks are in the top 10 since the past few years.
These numbers are startling, and demonstrate

Analysis Of My Brother Sam Is Dead By Lincoln Collier
My Brother Sam Is Dead by Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier is a novel about a boy
named Tim and his mother, Susannah Meeker, and his father, Eliphalet Life Meeker, and their
journey throughout war when their oldest son, Sam, goes off and fights in the American
Revolution. The novel starts off with Sam returning home after being away for a long time
serving his country in the war and college. His surprise homecoming was fun at first, until he and
his father started getting into it because of their different opinions on the war. Sam believes that
Redding isn t free and that their king should not rule their land because he lives 3000 miles away
from Redding. He also believes that the king is giving them unfair taxes that is making them
richer that they already are. On the other hand, his father disagrees completely. He thinks that
everyone should obey the king and that his taxes aren t really that bad. Later on, while doing
chores, Sam confides in Tim his plan to steal their father s gun in order to fight. Tim protests, but he

The men in the war would do anything as long as they survived or had what they wanted. A
starving man would steal from babies. (173) This means that the soldiers that were supposed to

He s dead? Nobody understands it. They put him on a prison ship and he got sick and died in
three weeks. It doesn t make any sense. You can understand why they took Mr. Rogers or
Captain Betts, but why imprison a ten year old boy? What harm could he have done them? This
war has turned men into animals, Mother said. (166) The soldiers took a young boy named Jerry

Gang Analysis
While there is no one definition, criminologists have agreed to define gangs via six characteristics
that are expected to make up a gang. A self formed association of peers is the first characteristic of
a gang, it includes a group of peers who choose to form up to acquire what they otherwise couldn t
without the gangs formation. Secondly, gangs are bound by mutual interests that they strive for
together. Third, well developed lines of authority and other organizational features with clear
distinctions between leaders and members and their different roles. Next, is working together as a
group to achieve a specific purpose and be successful without being caught. Penultimately, gangs
involve criminal activity, committing crimes and engaging in delinquency. Lastly, gangs control a
particular territory as their own as a way to show dominance and increase in power.... Show more

A traditional gang has regenerated for decades; therefore, it is old and big with a wide age range.
Examples of traditional gangs are the Crips and Bloods, two of the most well known and territorial
gangs in the nation. Due to their age and massive territories, traditional gangs tend to have
cliques/subgroups inside the gang. Traditional gangs are highly structured and are kept in line by
leaders as well as clearly identified rules and punishments. Meanwhile, compressed gangs have a
narrow age range with most gang members being adolescents. Compressed gangs are also smaller
than traditional gangs with only 50 to 100 gang members. Compressed gangs also lack the age and
experience of traditional gangs but can eventually achieve traditional status if they don t break apart

A Feminist Perspective On Women
All across the world women are being discriminated against for their gender. Feminism is the
movement to combat this. Though there are many misconstructions to what being a feminist
means, Webster s Dictionary defines feminism as the theory of the political, economic, and social
equality of the sexes. Feminismis not about one genderbeing above the other but allowing both to
be equal in all ways. Sexism is expressed in varies different ways. In countries like America, the
sexism faced is shown through things such as the wage gap and gender roles. In other countries,
however, such as Indian and China, the sexism faced is more extreme and the women are in more
sever danger.
Some people do not believe there is a need for a feminist movement, and that women have equal
rights. One huge issue that women face is the wage gap. People argue that laws such as the Equal
Pay Act has gotten rid of the need for women s suffrage, but a wage gap still exists. For every
dollar a man makes, the average white woman makes 78 cents. African American women make 64
cents and Hispanic women averagely make a mere 56 cents to the man s dollar. Something that
affects women s earnings is lower work hours and their years with zero earnings due to family
care. Women workers in their prime earning years earned 62% less than men, or only $0.38 for
every dollar men earned. During that 15 year period, the average woman earned only $273,592
while the average man earned $722,693 (in 1999 dollars).

What Factors Contributed To The Civil War
INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS
Strengthening U.S. Foreign Power and Influence
The Union defeat of the Confederacy resulted in a strengthened U.S. government, which led to the
defeat of the French in Mexico, the confederation of Canada in 1867, and the purchase of the
Alaskan territory.
After the fall of the Confederacy, U.S. leaders were able to deploy troops to the Texas Mexico
border to help resist the French intervention in Mexico. This pressure, combined with Mexican
resentment, led to the French Emperor Napoleon II to abandon his quest for Mexico.
Meanwhile in the North, Canadian politicians feared a resurgence of the U.S., and some U.S.
politicians called for the annexation of the British North American territory. This led the Canadians

government whether it would be just a confederation of separate states or one nation with a national
government, and whether a nation that stated all men were created equal with a right to liberty
would continue to allow the practice of owning slaves.
The Civil War was the result of basic differences between the free and slave states. After Abraham
Lincoln was elected President in 1860, vowing to keep slavery out of the territories, seven states
from the South seceded from the Union and established their own nation. Lincoln and most of the
people from the North refused to recognize this new nation as being separate from the U.S.
The war was triggered at Fort Sumter near Charleston, South Carolina, when the Confederate
Army claimed this U.S. fort as their own on April 12, 1861. They forced the federal troops there
to lower the American flag and surrender. President Lincoln sent U.S. forces there to try to
suppress the Confederates. An additional four states seceded to join the Confederacy. By the end of
1861, several battles had already been fought in Virginia, Missouri, North Carolina and South
Carolina and nearly one million men confronted one another along 1200 miles from Virginia to

Examples Of Self Reconciliation In A Raisin In The Sun
We often forget our moral development in life. It tends to lead us to a sense of confusion, and
anger. But what we should find most valuable in ourselves, is our conscious that sends us a right or
wrong feeling in our integrity. In the play A Raisin In The Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, she
precisely executes the true meaning of self reconciliation within the characters in their scenes. The
development among each character helps them understand what they need in life; opposed to what
they did. The growth they signify adds to the plot of each character in their finest form.

It was a common fear among the African Americans. The Younger Family knew that the
discrimination would hold them back from their dreams and goals, but because they believe in
prosperity and pride, that was the last thing on their mind. The want in their spirits, is what sets
them at place of tranquility and hope. In fact, here s another fifty cents... buy yourself some fruit
today or take a taxicab to school or something! (1.1.1840) Walter is letting his son know that there
is no problem when it comes to their economic status. One of the difficulties that the adults faced
was their self righteousness. The discrimination was really enabled when it came to anything in
their life. Whether it be buying certain houses, jobs, or even sitting in a restaurant, it was
something so common; they learned that it is far more important for their child to know how to
live with no fear and worrisome in life. When it came to Walter, he knew that keeping the
innocence in Travis life was the right thing to do, where for Ruth she was far more upright. The
self doubt they displayed was becoming a burden in their lives, but that transformation and growth
is what helped them come to a better understanding of themselves. The Younger Family s moral
development would be their sense of pride, and Mama s destiny was to continue that pride. Mama s
development within herself had grown to great measures, but when it came to her

  • 2. The Sentimentally Of William Tavener Analysis At the beginning of the story The Sentimentally of William Tavener, Ms. Hester states that she believes Mr. William should allow their children to attend the annual circus. She begins rambling about her experience at the circus as a child and the joy she remembers of it. She expects not a word from Mr. William as always, but today he spoke up. To her surprise, Mr. William had attended the same circus also remembers it joyfully. A explanation as to why the plot is ordered this way is because they begin the story in a seemingly normal argument. They lead you down a path of almost certainty until it is not. • 3. Modern Techniques Of Mrs Dalloway Virginia Woolf started writing Mrs. Dalloway in June 1922 and she completed the novel by October 1924. With the publication of Mrs Dalloway in 1925, Woolf offered one of her greatest novels to the literary world. Mrs Dalloway is known to be her one of the most experimental novels as she experimented with the form of the novel. In this chapter there would be an endeavour to analyse how Mrs Woolf has used modern techniques while writing this novel. The novel is created from her two short stories, Mrs Dallowayin Bond Street and the unfinished The Prime Minister . Mrs Dalloway is about a single day a Wednesday in mid June 1923 in life of Clarissa Dalloway, the social hostess. Mrs Dalloway is the same who made a brief appearance in The Voyage Out. There she was exquisite and bright and excessively interested and now at fifty two, in Mrs Dalloway, a little wiser and more pensive. By 1923 (the year in which the ... Clarissa, aged fifty two has recently recovered from an illness. The novel begins with Mrs Dalloway s getting ready in the morning to go out to buy flowers for her party she is to host that evening. Throughout the morning, Clarissa reflects on her past, including her decision to marry reliable Richard Dalloway thirty years earlier, instead of the enigmatic and demanding Peter Walsh. Her conflicts are reintroduced as Peter makes a surprise visit to her at her home. Meanwhile, the second storyline begins with Septimus Warren Smith, a shell shocked war veteran, out on the street with his Italian wife, Lucrezia. Septimus struggles with the after effects of the war, hearing voices and feeling that life has little meaning. A car backfiring paralyzes him, and he reflects on his life. This war, and the winning result of independence, led to many changes within American society. • 6. Revolution And Social Movements Revolutions and social movements can be a huge deal and cause major effects in history. Some examples of them are the Ku Klux Klan and the French Revolution. These are just some of the hundreds out there that have happened in the past or are happening now. One thing that I want to point out is that they are not the same. Revolutions and social movements are very different in several ways and similar in some. Revolutions, they are a necessary change in the political power when people rise up against it. Revolutions tend to be exceedingly more violent than social movements. For example, the American Revolution was when the 13 colonies rejected the British monarchy and overthrew the authority and founded the United States of America. There were various wars fought in this revolution. Most were very bloody and violent. Over 10,000 soldiers were injured or killed in this war. It may not seem like tons, but when the 13 colonies were first beginning there weren t very many people living there anyways. Social movements, they are large group actions that are usually focused on changing a political or social problem. Social movements aren t as violent as revolutions, although they can tend to get fairly violent. One example of a social movement would be the Ku Klux Klan. The Ku Klux Klan is one ... • 11. The Consequences Of The Truman Doctrine The foreign policy of the United States can be defined as a labyrinth a set of complex intricacies which either lack comprehension or are characterized by meticulous thought. Established during a period of ideological warfare and domestic hysteria, it is evident the Truman Doctrine was conceived with a disregard for the future stability of American international affairs. Engulfed within a period marked by massive power struggles and distorted accusations, the Truman Doctrine may appear minimal in regard to alterations of the United States international attitude. However, the Doctrine acted as a catalyst for the shift in America s foreign policy objectives and vision. It is clear the Truman Doctrine produced detrimental consequences in regard to the international policy of the United States, stability of foreign countries, and continuing repercussions in the modern day. Following the Allies victory in World War II, and preceding the historical period of the Red Scare, relations between the Soviet Union and the United States were relatively neutral (in spite of the drastically different ideological viewpoints). Contrary to popular belief the Doctrine was originally constructed to quell communist uprisings, it is clear the intention was to establish stability within European nations vital to the economic interests of the United States (Gaddis 11). The final object was named Dolly, born on July 5, 1996 she was the first clone to be produced from a mammal cell. The Choices Among Model Assessment Statistics Compare and contrast the choices amongst model assessment statistics There are two factors that determine the appropriate validation assessment rating or assessment statistics. Firstly the target measurement scale and secondly the prediction type. For a binary target with a primary outcome(target=1) and secondary outcome(target=0) there are three types of prediction types a.) decisions b.) ranking and c.) estimates. When the prediction type is decision for a binary target, it works to match the primary decision with the primary outcome yielding a correct decision called as true positive and matches the secondary decision with the secondary outcome yielding a correct decision called as true negative. In this case the decision predictions are rated by their accuracy in other words in order to maximize accuracy there should be agreement between the outcome and prediction. Also, when the secondary decision mismatches with the primary outcome it yields an incorrect decision called as false negative. Similarly, when primary decision mismatches with secondary outcome it yields an incorrect decision called as false positive. In this case the decision predictions can be rated by their misclassification rate wherein to minimize misclassification there should be very less disagreement between the actual outcome and predictions. In ranking predictions, the cases are ranked based on their likelihood of being a primary or secondary outcome. When the primary and secondary cases are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Deflation And The Theory Of Truth Deflation Accounts of Causation Introduction Several different theories accounts exist attempting to explain whether truth exists. Some of the common causation accounts include the deflation account, reifications, covering law model and unificationism accounts. The Deflation theory of truth states that a predicament of the truth does not attribute the property of the truth to a particular statement. Several theories are present under the deflation accounts of causation. They include the redundancy theory of truth and the perfection theory of the truth. These two theories are the major dominant theory around deflation accounts of causation. Although both theories attempt to explain and substantiate truth in a statement, the redundancy theory is stronger compared to the perfection theory of truth. The redundancy theory is claimed to be the first theory that came close to explaining predicaments of truth in a statement. No other account has achieved the same fate as the redundancy account. Redundancy Theory of Truth Also known as the disquotational theory of truth, the redundancy theory holds that a statement will always remain the truth even before if the predictive statement misses. The most common predicament statement used by most people is the it is truth . The social conflict paradigm recognizes that patterns which benefit some people more than others due to their social standings. America was once described a rich and free country where the streets are paved with gold and opportunity is knocking around every corner. Why then, are there so many poor people in America and more disturbingly that most of these poverty level people are women? The answer is quite recognizable, the disparity originates with economic inequality. Economic society does not provide the same opportunities for a man versus a Woman, nor to poor people versus people who come from a rich and prestigious family. For example, assume that a man and a woman both with the same academic backgrounds and qualifications apply for a job, the man has a marginally superior chance to secure the job as opposed to the woman?s odds. Discrimination plays a paramount role in our society today and discrimination and favoritism is what fuels and sustains economic inequality. The woman applicant doesn?t have the same advantages, written or not written, spoken or unspoken than that of the man, these factors create social barriers. They are also keeping the child s sex a secret, although it is not clear if they are trying to allow the child to define its sex. Gender and sex are two different distinctions that are often mistakenly seen as the same thing. Society places genderexpectations based on sex, so it s easy to see why they are looked at as the same thing. It s important to remember that gender represents a choice, while sex is determined before you are born. The option of choosing is important when considering the ethics of raising a child. It s why I believe that it is ethical to allow a child to define their gender and unethical to allow a child to define their sex. There are three common arguments against allowing a child to define their gender. The first common argument is that the child will bullied and may not be mature enough to handle it. Unfortunately, children can be bullied for a number of reasons regardless of their gender. Parents do not allow bullying to affect other decisions and they should not allow bullying to interfere with who their child wants to be either. It is he one doing the bullying that has a problem, not their child. The second common argument against allowing a child to define their gender is that friends and family will disapprove. A daring plan arises soon after the successful invasion of Normandy; this plan, alternatively, ends in disaster. Had everything gone as the good General Bernard Montgomery had hoped, the war would have been finished by Christmas; a large blow against the Germans was needed to relieve the troops in Normandy, who were then facing both German soldiers and difficult, unfamiliar terrain. General Montgomery had devised a plan that would push the Alliesthrough Holland and past the strongest of Germany s defences. The idea was simple: the Allied Airborne Division would drop paratroopers in, who would then take eight important bridges around Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Arnhem. These troops would then fight through Nazi controlled Holland and into the heart of Germany, winning the war. The historic battle of Arnhem was codenamed Operation Market Garden. In California, the class size has increased to 22 students for kindergarten to third grade. One teacher versus 22 students, coming from different background and educational level, really is a big challenge for another to take. Given that some students have gone through preschool and some who have never had any group experience prior to entering kindergarten, that creates a gigantic tap among the kids in one class. The first couple months into the school year, teachers would spend the majority of time establishing structure, routine, and disciplines. Without these being taken place in the beginning of the year, teaching is almost an impossible task to accomplish. The class size needs to be limited to maximize the discipline and the learning, or another option is to have a teacher s aid in the class to assist the lead teacher. The Safety Act Of The Stadium And The Facility Safety Goal: Facility Safety In order to ensure the safety of everyone in the stadium and the facility, we have identified multiple potential vulnerabilities and steps to prevent a cyber attack that leads to harm to any person in the stadium or the stadium. Although the SAFETY Act prevents an entity from being held liable in the event of a terrorist attack, including a cyber terrorist attack, we believe it is in the best interest of the stadium to accept the following recommendations. This allows the stadium to create a safe and positive experience for all attendees. These recommendations include responses to potential vulnerabilities such as emergency systems, power grids, and electronic displays. Emergency Systems We believe that the emergency systems in stadiums are a vulnerability. One of the main areas of concern are the alarms in stadiums. If hackers are able to infiltrate the computer networks, there is a possibility of them being able to get access to the alarm management network and disable all of the alarms in a stadium. This could prove to be disastrous in the case of an actual emergency because there would be no way to notify attendees to evacuate the stadium, go on lockdown, or take any other precautions necessary in the case of an emergency. In order to prevent this, we propose that all stadiums keep all operating systems up to date. By doing so, this lessens the number of flaws in the operating system that can be taken advantage of by hackers to infiltrate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Foils In Sophocles Antigone Stand up or Don t stand at all In a human s lifetime someone has to stand up for what they believe in, in order to make a difference. The Greek play Antigone, by Sophocles takes place in the city of Thebes and is about two sisters, Ismene and Antigone, reacting to the deaths of their two brothers. Ismene and Antigone s two brothers were at war on opposites sides of a civil war. They ended up killing each other in combat. Since the brothers, who were supposed to be the next kings of Thebes, were dead, the throne was passed to their uncle Creon. Creon, considering Polyneices a traitor, decides that he will only honor the brother Eteocles. This infuriates Antigone, who decides she will honor Polyneices by burying him, despite the law made against it. In the first scene Antigone takes her sister Ismene outside to the private gates to talk about her brother Polyneices not being able to be buried. They go back and forth over Antigone s choice to bury their brother. Ismene doesn t want Antigone to do it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even today, there are people trying to make a difference and do what they think is morally right just like Antigone, in the face of people like Ismene, who are too worried about the negative consequences of their actions to do the right thing. No longer is commerce managed through clunky and expensive paper based transactions. The advantage of this archaic process, though, was that it allowed corporations to store their documents in secure locations under tight lock key. Today however, these cabinets have been replaced with database systems. Database systems are the modern version of filing cabinets, which house the vast data transacted by corporations. Although databases have eliminated the need for paper based transactions, they have exposed themselves to a different problem altogether. As SANS (2015) puts it, most of an organization s information [today] is maintained in a small, central location, compared to the large file rooms associated with the pre information technology era, therefore those desiring to cause harm to a large amount of information in a short time span now have a convenient means to do so. Because of this paradigm shift, IT professionals should enforce modern database security auditing policies in order to protect data. But are organizations under attack? Well a shocking statistic by Gartner shows that, 75% attacks come from web applications and 2/3rd of web applications are vulnerable. And as per OWASP, 2013, SQLInjection based attacks are in the top 10 since the past few years. These numbers are startling, and demonstrate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His surprise homecoming was fun at first, until he and his father started getting into it because of their different opinions on the war. Sam believes that Redding isn t free and that their king should not rule their land because he lives 3000 miles away from Redding. He also believes that the king is giving them unfair taxes that is making them richer that they already are. On the other hand, his father disagrees completely. He thinks that everyone should obey the king and that his taxes aren t really that bad. Later on, while doing chores, Sam confides in Tim his plan to steal their father s gun in order to fight. • 46. Gang Analysis While there is no one definition, criminologists have agreed to define gangs via six characteristics that are expected to make up a gang. A self formed association of peers is the first characteristic of a gang, it includes a group of peers who choose to form up to acquire what they otherwise couldn t without the gangs formation. Secondly, gangs are bound by mutual interests that they strive for together. Third, well developed lines of authority and other organizational features with clear distinctions between leaders and members and their different roles. Next, is working together as a group to achieve a specific purpose and be successful without being caught. A traditional gang has regenerated for decades; therefore, it is old and big with a wide age range. Examples of traditional gangs are the Crips and Bloods, two of the most well known and territorial gangs in the nation. Traditional gangs are highly structured and are kept in line by leaders as well as clearly identified rules and punishments. Meanwhile, compressed gangs have a narrow age range with most gang members being adolescents. Compressed gangs are also smaller than traditional gangs with only 50 to 100 gang members. • 47. A Feminist Perspective On Women All across the world women are being discriminated against for their gender. Feminism is the movement to combat this. Though there are many misconstructions to what being a feminist means, Webster s Dictionary defines feminism as the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes. Feminismis not about one genderbeing above the other but allowing both to be equal in all ways. Sexism is expressed in varies different ways. In countries like America, the sexism faced is shown through things such as the wage gap and gender roles. In other countries, however, such as Indian and China, the sexism faced is more extreme and the women are in more sever danger. Some people do not believe there is a need for a feminist movement, and that women have equal rights. One huge issue that women face is the wage gap. People argue that laws such as the Equal Pay Act has gotten rid of the need for women s suffrage, but a wage gap still exists. For every dollar a man makes, the average white woman makes 78 cents. African American women make 64 cents and Hispanic women averagely make a mere 56 cents to the man s dollar. Something that affects women s earnings is lower work hours and their years with zero earnings due to family care. Women workers in their prime earning years earned 62% less than men, or only $0.38 for every dollar men earned. During that 15 year period, the average woman earned only $273,592 while the average man earned $722,693 (in 1999 dollars). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. What Factors Contributed To The Civil War INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS Strengthening U.S. Foreign Power and Influence The Union defeat of the Confederacy resulted in a strengthened U.S. government, which led to the defeat of the French in Mexico, the confederation of Canada in 1867, and the purchase of the Alaskan territory. After the fall of the Confederacy, U.S. leaders were able to deploy troops to the Texas Mexico border to help resist the French intervention in Mexico. This pressure, combined with Mexican resentment, led to the French Emperor Napoleon II to abandon his quest for Mexico. Meanwhile in the North, Canadian politicians feared a resurgence of the U.S., and some U.S. politicians called for the annexation of the British North American territory. This led the Canadians to ... The Civil War was the result of basic differences between the free and slave states. After Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860, vowing to keep slavery out of the territories, seven states from the South seceded from the Union and established their own nation. Lincoln and most of the people from the North refused to recognize this new nation as being separate from the U.S. The war was triggered at Fort Sumter near Charleston, South Carolina, when the Confederate Army claimed this U.S. fort as their own on April 12, 1861. They forced the federal troops there to lower the American flag and surrender. President Lincoln sent U.S. forces there to try to suppress the Confederates. An additional four states seceded to join the Confederacy. But what we should find most valuable in ourselves, is our conscious that sends us a right or wrong feeling in our integrity. In the play A Raisin In The Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, she precisely executes the true meaning of self reconciliation within the characters in their scenes. The development among each character helps them understand what they need in life; opposed to what they did. The growth they signify adds to the plot of each character in their finest form.
