Sleep Preventilation Syndrome
Sleep is defined as a complex and reversible condition where the body undergoes a period of
unresponsiveness to external stimuli. Its main feature is the behavioral quiescence and the reduced
unresponsiveness to stimulus on the exterior surfaces. Sleep is triggered and controlled by the central
nervous system that uses networks of various neurotransmitters that are localized at a particular region
in the brain. The neurotransmitters networks are redundant and any interference with a specific
localized networks tampers with the sleep condition (Holtbernd, 2014). In spite the fact that sufficient
proof on the functions of sleep is still unclear, it is unquestionable that sleep is a vital component in
the development and normal functioning of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But encouragingly, there are some ways we can deal with the situation either to prevent it or reduce its
severity. The most crucial treatment approach is sleep hygiene. It is exercised by using the bed for
sleep only and not reading or watching television, exercising daily, and avoiding caffeine. Another
way to deal with the conditions is by losing weight. This helps more in treating obesity
hypoventilation syndrome and insomnia (Postuma, et al. 2015). Pharmacological therapy also is an
important aspect of treatment. Some drugscan be bought in chemists and administered under the
doctor s prescriptions. Observing proper diets and activities are equally crucial in the treatment of the
disorders. It is best when patients avoid sleep interfering substances like alcohol, caffeine, and
nicotine. Large meals and spicy foods should not be taken three hours prior sleep time (Wang, 2014).
Lastly, long term monitoring is only required for severe cases. This calls for the intervention of
experienced medical personnel or a psychiatrist to monitor and examine the condition for the
establishment of a proper

Def Leppard Influence On History
Def Leppard
Def Leppard was a music band of the 20th century, that brought heavy metal music to people all
around the world. It all started when five kids came together wanting to play music. Then went on to
be the most well known bands in history. Def Leppard has become one of the best bands of the 20th
century.
Def Leppard was a band that had five kids interested in music in many ways. For example, Phillip
Kenneth became interested when he got his first guitar when he was 16. Also, Rick Allen was 11 years
old when his parents got him his first drum set (Jeffery, 2011). When the band began to play at a
younger age, it inspired them to play for a career. This inspired them to love playing music which lead
them to their successful career. In addition, to them being inspired to play, their childhood has played
a role too. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, once Rick Allen got his drum set he practice every morning when he woke up he would
play. Joseph Elliot was idolized by the Salvation Army Band. Joseph Elliott wanted to play after
listening to the beatles throughout his childhood (Jeffery, 2011). Their childhood did indeed affect
them to start their career. Since, their childhood played a role they went to start their career, which
later played out as them meeting.
The members of the band came from different paths, but eventually formed one group. Some
examples are, Richard savage and Peter Willis knew each other from school and started up a band
called Atomic Mass. Another example is that Rick Allan dropped out of school to be in the band Def
Leppard (Jeffery, 2011). Once they started the band, Joe Elliott contributed to the naming of the band
Def Leppard . How the band met was very important and that s what started it all. In addition, to them

Comparing Maupassant s Necklace and Chekov s Vanka Essay
Narrators and Sympathy in Maupassant s Necklace and Chekov s Vanka
In Guy de The Necklace and Anton Chekov s Vanka, the narrators attitudes are unsympathetic toward
the protagonists Mathilde and Vanka. However, where the narrator of The Necklace feels outright
hostility toward Mathilde, the narrator of Vanka voices his opinion more passively by pointing out the
flaws in Vanka s wishful thinking.
In The Necklace, the narrator s unsympathetic feelings toward Mathilde are made evident in the first
paragraph when he states, she had no dowry, no expectations, no means of being known, understood,
loved, wedded by an rich and distinguished man; and she let herself be married to a little clerk at the

Eel is beaten several times a day for various reasons, presumably by Vanka s grandfather; therefore, if
Vanka should live with him, he would probably be beaten as well (47). In fact, Vanka tells his
grandfather that he can thrash [him] like Sidor s goat if he misbehaves or does something wrong (48).
The narrator of The Necklace shows that Mathilde is a shallow person due to her insistence that she
would not go to the ball without a new dress, and that she would only wear jewels, never flowers,
although they were in fashion (67 68). Mathilde appears to be more concerned with how everybody
thinks she looks, than how they actually think of her as a person. Mathilde furthers this impression
when she and Loisle are leaving the dance and she would rather be in the cold than have the other
ladies see them in their modest wraps of common life (69). However, the narrator of Vanka further
portrays Vanka as a sympathetic, but naive, character. In his letter, Vanka writes about how he is
beaten several times a day and frequently goes hungry because as for tea, or soup, the master and
mistress gobble it all up themselves (48). He would even run away to the village, but [he has] no boots
even though he works for a shoemaker (48). The fact that Vanka writes to his grandfather in secret
with an old pen he had salvaged further shows how scared of his master he is in that he hides his
actions for fear of receiving

Trusts
If trust does not meet test of certainty it will fail/be void
If trust to be valid must meet three certainties: (Knight v Knight)
Certainty of intention
Certainty of subject matter
Certainty of objects/beneficiaries
Fundamental principle: the trust must be capable of being controlled + enforced
There must be sufficient practical certainty in [the trust s] definition for it to be carried out, if
necessary with the administrative assistance of the court, according to the expressed intention of the
settlor (Lord Wilberforce in McPhail v Doulton (1970))
There is a trust instrument, intentions of settler must be sufficiently certain to carry out the trust,

Q was whether was certainty of subject matter as problem was whether shares were identified they are
identifiable as each share has a number. Courts said was a valid trust regardless of fact that M did not
state which shares were on hold for H.
Pearson v Lehman Brothers (2010): adopted same principle.
A beneficiary s interest in a certain part of the trust property in older cases judges were more strict:
Boyce v Boyce (1849): testatrix left 4 houses on trust. Trust said one trust to go to Maria other 3 to
charlotte. Trust said Maria to choose which one she wanted. Maria died before the testator + trust
came into effect + court said M no longer alive so cannot est. which houses C entitled to as under the
trust she has what is left after M picks, but she died so trust VOID.
Modern approach = more willing to uphold trust: Re Golay s WT (1965): testator left one flat +
reasonable income from his estate courts held not absolutely certain as not state what flat + what
income, but said not so uncertain that cannot est. which should go to whom.
Certainty of Objects
= Broadly include certainty of beneficiaries + power of objects
What is meant by certainty in this context?
Conceptual or semantic certainty = certainty in the meaning of the expression of wording used in trust
instrument. Is the meaning precise in the class that they define?

Columbus and the New World Discovery Essay
Columbus and the New World Discovery
October 12, 1992, marks the five hundredth anniversary of the most crucial of all encounters between
Europe and the Americas. In the contemporary global mood, however, the quincentennial of
Christopher Columbus s landing in the New World new, anyway, to the European intruders; old and
familiar to its inhabitants seems an occasion less for celebration than for mediation. Indeed, in some
quarters the call is for penitence and remorse.
Christopher Columbus has always been as much a myth as a man, a myth incorporating a succession
of triumphs and guilts over what is now five long centuries. The myth has found particular lodgment
in the mightiest of the nations to arise in the Western ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A movement to honor the day of landfall culminated in 1934, when President Franklin D. Roosevelt
proclaimed October 12 a national holiday. The holiday is observed in most Latin American countries
as well.
The United States also staged the most memorable celebration of the quadricentennial of what it was
then widely acceptable to call the discovery of America. The World s Columbus Exposition took place
in bustling, thrusting, Midwestern Chicago, the very heart of the republic. Reconfiguring the great
explorer in images of technology and modernity, the Chicago World s Fair saluted the man then
regarded, in the words of President Benjamin Harrison, as the pioneer of progress and enlightenment .
In a book especially produced for the fair, the historian Meyer Kayserling summed up the prevailing
assessment of Columbus: In the just appreciation of his great services to mankind, all political,
religious and social differences have vanished.
How things changed in a century! Political, religious, and social differences, far from vanishing, place
Columbus today in the center of a world wide cultural civil war. The great hero of the nineteenth
century seems well on the way to becoming the great villain of the twenty first. Columbus, it is now
charged, far from being the pioneer of progress and enlightenment, was in fact the pioneer of
oppression, racism, slavery, rape, theft, vandalism, extermination, and ecological desolation.

Research Paper On Cheetahs
Ecology Essay: Cheetahs
What do you think about cheetahs? In 2000 there were about 100,000 cheetahs across historic range.
Today, an estimated 9,000 to 12,000 cheetahs remain in the wild in Africa. In Iran there is about only
200 or 300 cheetahs living in small isolated populations. Cheetahs seem to be killed for there coat.
Cheetahs are poor climber but they hunts by speed. They have short fur with black spots offer some
camouflage while hunting. They are able to adapt to new environments has always proved difficult to
breed in a captivity.
Their survival depends on knowing how to hunt wild prey. They are carnivores predating most
mammals hunted during the day. They thrive in areas of land where prey is near. They prefer to live in
semi desert areas, and thick brush.

Questions On The Mathematics Of Math
Mathematics to me, is complex numbers with only one correct answer involving numbers and other
unknown variables. There are formulas where you plug numbers into and solving for the x variable. I
would consider myself somewhat good at math I do not always get a concept right away but I will
work through the difficulty until I discover how to understand the concept at hand. I will study and
persevere until the challenge at hand is resolved. Usually, I am a quick learner which allows me to
understand math fairly quickly and at a easy rate. However, there are some parts of math that come
more naturally to me than others. For example, in precalculus I found graphing more straight forward
and easy to understand. Where as with trigonomic functions where I had to make both sides equal the
same functions I tended to get confused quicker. This happened because there were multiple ways to
get to the same answer and multiple answers so I felt like there was no one correct way. There was lots
of variation and flexibility and there was less structure so it went against the usual ways I learn math. I
was forced to change the way I had traditionally learned math. To learn math means that you are being
shown daily applications such as keeping track of money, figuring out a budget, seeing how much
space you have in your room, and so forth. There are tons of daily applications for math some of
which I don t even fully realize. When I do realize how math has helped in my daily life I tend

The Debate Over Net Neutrality Laws Essay
In 2005, Vonage, a phone company that transmits telephone calls over the internet or voice over
internet protocol, complains to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) about an unknown
service provider blocking their telephone service. The FCC investigated the complaint and found that
Madison River, a telephone company, was responsible and ordered them to stop blocking data sent
from Vonage (Higginbotham, 2010). This incident was one of the first cases of an internet service
provider discriminating against data sent over the internet because Vonage and Madison River are
competing telephone service companies. Because of this, the FCC proposed a set of principles which

Content and internet service providers spoke out as well, increasing the need for some kind of
legislation. Various forms of the original guiding principles were proposed as net neutrality
legislation; however none of them were passed. Due to the growth of the debate and increasing
numbers of complaints, the FCC has proposed their latest set of guidelines called, preserving the open
internet , to be voted on as net neutrality legislation. Content providers such as Amazon.com, Disney,
Facebook, eBay, Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo, and voice over internet protocol company s like
Vonage and Skype, as well as educational or public interest groups such as Educause, Internet2, ACE,
Regional Optical Networks, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the Electronic Frontier
Foundation, are all in favor of passing the preserving the open internet legislation. Then there are
those against preserving the open internet legislation such as telecommunications and cable companies
like AT T, BellSouth, Verizon, Cablevision, Comcast, Cox, Time Warner, Charter Communications,
and hardware manufacturers such as Cisco, Nortel, and VeriSign (Greenfield, 2006).

Pros And Cons Of The Null Hypothesis
The Null Hypothesis is the thought that all vertebrates (with the exception of humans) are of equal
intelligence (Pearce, 2008). The Null Hypothesis was proposed by Macphail (1982) and has since
been widely debated; we will break these debates into six categories for further examination.
Associative Learning
Associative learning is the capability of animals to learn associations between two stimuli or a
behavior and a stimuli. Associations can be made via classical conditioning or operant conditioning.
One of the biggest arguments against the Null Hypothesis is that the experiments done have been
confined to a species but not done in a cross species design. This could mean that while one species
may learn an association through classical conditioning it may not be able to learn it through operant
conditioning or vice versa. As far as studies to date show, all vertebrae species are capable of forming
associations however further research is needed to prove if all vertebrae species possess the same
processes in forming associations.
Memory
There is evidence of memory differences across species. Some species have shown that their short
term memory surpasses that of other species but there is no clear evidence if is it a result of different
processing mechanisms of memory. There is evidence that evolution may play a role ... Show more

Imitation was used to demonstrate that only some vertebrae species have demonstrated the ability to
imitate an action to achieve a goal. We cannot be sure that the species that have not demonstrated the
ability to imitate are not able to however as there are many reasons that could sway their performance.
The animal may not find the reward to be worth the action or it could be form an experimental design
flaw. Regardless future research will need to be done to further assess the ability of all vertebrae
species ability of social

The Babylonian Of The Assyrian Army
This research paper is about one aspect of the ancient world that I have analyzed and the topic that I
have done this research on is the Assyrian Army. I will give a detailed analysis with precise and
concise information with well presented information with credible claims to support my paper and my
thesis statement that .The Assyrian Army was the most organized Army in the Ancient near east; they
conquered the Dark Age era with their tactical and physical nature of militant system which makes
them the best army of all time . The Worldview connection is that the Assyrian was into terror and

themselves as a great army but had a worldview that was set as the foundation of western civilization
which was more polytheistic. Assyria is a major Mesopotamian East Semitic kingdom and empire of

centuries, from the 25th century BCE to the 6th century BCE, spanning the mid to Early Bronze Age

Effects Of Racial Profiling
Racial Profiling Have you ever wondered what goes on in other places, with other people, and with
other races? Racial Profiling is a form of discrimination and should not be used against any person
because it leads to racism, its infective and the freedom of people is more important than the National
Security itself.
Most racial profiling leads to racial profiling towards others. Research psychologists have also
examined the effects of racial profiling on broader society and have learned that societal effects
include confirmation of feelings of racism, fear and financial costs (Effects). When racial profiling is
used it harms most civilians that are not terrorists. Even though the National Security wasn t supposed
to use this until the twin towers were bombed on 9/11/2001, it still offends other races.

Her sister did not listen to her so Elsa got mad and threw her hands down and that s when everyone

The novel Red Sorghum is a piece that captures the period of time in which the Japanese military
invaded and soon after occupied areas of China, including the county of Gaomi. Use of this county is
a key decision as it is also, the author, Mo Yan s home. That fact that this county is familiar to him can
be noted through the way the story is told; there are instances where the reader can note the
familiarity, authenticity, and customs of the area. This is exemplified in a passage from the fifth
chapter where the author illustrates his home of Gaomi as, largely swampy land that is flooded by
autumn rains (p.39) and the people were especially decent, strong willed, and ambitious (p. 9). At this

by replacing human labour with robots and machines. The informational revolution as per discussed

Emilie du Châtelet was a noblewoman with a strong passion for science. She studied physics,
mathematics, and also published scientific articles and the first and only translation of Newton s

got together after Voltaire returned from his second exile. Emilie invited him to stay with her and their
relationship only bloomed from there. With the superior assistance of Emilie, Voltaire was able to
write and publish Elémens de la philosophie de Newton in 1738. This was a simplified guide to the

the proof of atoms, and the refraction of light. Voltaire then recognized mow much he owed to Emilie
for helping him with this masterpiece, so he made the frontispiece of the work showing him being

exaggerated startle response is one of the diagnostic symptoms of PTSD. PTSD patients display a
shorter period and increased change of the acoustic startle eye blink reflex, significant loss of the
normal modulation of the startle reflex, and resistance to habituation of the startle response (Friedman

the capacity to cause a conditioned emotional response in the absence of the aversive stimulus.
Appraisal discussed by Friedman (2000) is a process that evaluate whether a situation is possibly
dangerous. Coping, adaptation, and survival depend on the capacity of individuals to assess different
situations accurately as pleasant, gentle, challenging or threatening. PTSD patients have lost this
capacity and are much more likely to assess normal situations as threatening. This reaction to

Message Complexity Paper
Messages How does one determine the meaning of the world around them? It is not all that simple.
Messages are delivered via symbols amongst other factors such as speech, written documents, etc.
They help an individual assign meaning to the society around them. With that, a message can mean
multiple things depending on the listeners and how it is conveyed. In my case, as a Communication
major, I have learned about messages via speech giving, readings from Communication textbooks, and
in class notes. My public speaking course (Speech 105), is probably the class, within my major, that
taught me the most about delivering messages. For instance, in the class, the first speech assigned was
an impromptu speech. The other students and I had to select ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I could stop watching a television show about astronomy and physics, for the reason that I find it too
complex. Even so, outside of the astronomy case, many complex messages can be made simpler. This
is true of a multitude of day to day interactions. Depending on a person s words, gestures, etc., a
whole message can be altered drastically and made up of many layers. The layering of messages is a
concept that was talked about in this Sophomore Seminar class (Communication 295). Much like an
onion, messages can have a multitude of layers. Listeners and/or receivers, depending on the method
the message is delivered in, may interpret a message differently. Interpretation may even depend on
combining multiple meanings to construct a final connotation. Furthermore, the way one understands
a message, depends mostly on the way the message is received to begin

Those feeling the most pain from rising food prices were consumers in low income nations where
food purchases account for a very large portion of monthly household budgets. This is a threat to me
because if people in my area don t have a high paying job than they won t be shopping with convince
they well be shopping for price.
Demographics should be one of the first things that you take into consideration. Who are the people
shopping in your store? Are they interested in buying organic foods? Study the buying habits and
preferences of your customers. And, then give them what they want. In a grocery store you really cant
base anything off of one customer. At a grocery store you have to look at every customer as an
individual because they are all different. The top two influences that the consumers will choose my
store over others is that I am offering online ordering with delivery. Also the other things that makes
my business different than others is that I will have a variety of foods even from different cultures as
well. These two things are amazing to have and not to many other companies offer that. I personally
think that the ordering online and delivery is going to be a big hit because during the winter not many
people want to get out of the house and this way they don t have too. Also buy having different culture
foods and needs in my store it will attract more customers and a variety of people.

Liquids, Vitamins, Minerals, Water And Fats Essay
Substances that need to move into the cells :
Oxygen,vitamins, minerals, water and fats.
Substances that need to move out of the cells:
Insulin, carbon dioxide, and enzymes. The plasma membrane is close to animal cells where the
exchange of substances inside and outside of cells revenue a place . Some of the substances have to
move between the extracellular fluid outside cells to inside of the cell, and some elements necessity to
interchange from inside to the extracellular fluid.
Proteins which are stuck into plasma membrane help to open the channels in the membrane, (for
example chemicals produced by the body )and ions are allowed to pass through the channels . They
either are recognized by a receptor ( EXP : protein molecule) in the cell membrane, or they attribute to
a transporter particle, which is permitted to go through the channels. Because the plasma membrane is
particular about what substances can permit through it,it is called permeable (selectively) where
liquids and gasses can flow through. Permeability defines the affluence with which substances can
permit through a border, for example, a cell membrane. Permeable resources that furthermost
substances can simply across through the membrane. Impermeable defines that substances are not
allowed across through the membrane.Semipermeable or Selectively defines that only a few elements
are allowed to through the membrane (Walpole, 2014) .

Fear Of Spiders
Fear of Spiders? | How to Treat Arachnophobia
Where Does the Fear of Spiders Come From?
Arachnophobia or having the intense fear of spiders is the earliest as well as most typical anxiety
experienced in Western society. Just observing the response to spiders shown by an arachnophobic
person may seem illogical to others and also frequently to the sufferer himself. For some individuals,
it is a learned reaction which means that they discover to be afraid only after having actually seen
others being frightened. What is the origin of this fear and what is the best way to manage it if one has
tried everything from avoidance to medication? Answers to these questions in this article will explore
alternative research that has been conducted to address ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar positive parallels were seen between over estimates of spider size and also participants greater
typical top levels of stress and anxiety, higher average numbers of panic symptoms as well as general

Researchers concluded that worry not only changes one s perception of the point of being afraid, yet
can affect an individual s automated attitude towards things particularly dealing with spiders. Those
who have created an automatic adverse mindset toward an item that they fear could have a harder time
eliminating their fear.
Though people with arachnophobia are unlikely to seek therapy, using spiders in this research was a
practical method to examine the complicated effects of worry on perception as well as how those
results might cause worry to linger. Avoiding this fear not only keeps a person a vicious cycle, they
also can be negatively affected for a long period of time. Considering alternative methods like

Acid Rain Lab
How does acid rain affect the growth of plants?
Aim: to determine how simulated acid rain affects the growth of radishes.
Hypothesis: As the solution that is used to water the plants becomes more acidic, the height of the
plants will decrease. Therefore, it is expected that radishes watered with distilled water which has a
pH of 7 will exhibit the best growth than those watered with acidic solutions.
Variables
Independent variable: the pH of the solution
Dependent variable: the height of radishes
Controlled variables: the number of seeds the amount of solution
the amount of potting soil
the type of seeds
the type of acid

Essay on James Madison
James Madison
In the years following the Revolutionary War, the economic and political condition in the newly
declared nation was disastrous. The young states were in extreme debt after the expense of the war,
and economic growth was hampered by the fact that each state had its own tariffs and currencies. The
Continental Congress was helpless to repair the dilemma because of its inability to tax (Garraty,
1971).
In the middle of all the confusion, however, a commercial dispute, the Oyster War, between Virginia
and Maryland was successfully solved with assistance from General George Washington and James
Madison. Surprised and delighted, the Maryland delegation suggested a larger meeting, including a

James Madison took every measure possible to ensure the success of the Constitutional Convention.
He began by urging the seemingly unenthusiastic Washington to attend the Convention, realizing the
importance of his appearance at this meeting. Washington was seen as the hero of the revolution, and
his absence would be disastrous to the public approval of any document the Convention might agree
on. Madison, understanding the eventual need for public approval as well as the delegates , carefully
persuaded the General to attend (Overview, 2000). Having ensured that the meeting itself would meet
with approval, Madison set to work to create a proposal that would do the same. He prepared
extensively for the Constitutional Convention before it ever convened at Philadelphia, studying the
strengths and weaknesses of every historical government he could find information on. His studies
were extremely intense; Madison delved into well known and obscure forms of government alike,
from all continents and peoples, searching for the faults and virtues of each. He made extensive notes
on all his readings, and compiled his own ideas of how to create a successful government (Kauffmann,
2000). Upon sharing and defending his views with his fellow delegates at the Virginia Convention, an

the United States government sent thousands of soldiers to fight the war. A big problem came later,

leaders, John Pace, was immersed in the protesters with the mission of developing a stronger

people inside of the riot. Although they took responsibility of the manifestations and declared that they

President Hoover though, saw that communists were part of this riot and he was afraid of an uprising

rebellion as a militia that was trying to destroy capitalism by the force, instead of seeing that the true
people who were fighting were unemployed, starving veterans, looking for solutions.

Cezanne applied his paint in thick layers with broad, discrete, and methodical brushstrokes, remaining
true to the architectural ideal that every portion of the canvas must contribute to the structural integrity
of the painting. With each brushstroke, Cezanne was constructing a picture as apposed to painting it
(Paul Cézanne Biography). In contrast, Monet used a single color, applying it, using a bold, flat and
evenly loaded brush. This technique is called tache, a French word for blot. This technique moved
paintings away from the blending of colors on the canvas, and led to the application of different colors
to represent the ripples across water and how the light falls on the subject, as seen in Monet s painting
On the Bank of the Seine ( Brushwork ). Alternatively, Thomas Cole came from the Hudson River
School where he learned to render crisply defined forms in paint. He avoided painterly flourishes that
called attention to his techniques. He used a thin wooden board which rested on the artist s arm to mix

system to perform forced towards the utilization of unauthorized methods for accessing the core
application database which lead to the corruption of Cisco s database. Consequently the company shut
down virtually for two days.
Seeking for a new start
After the shutdown managers realized that the autonomous approach was not sufficient. There was the
need for a more integrated action, indeed separated decisions among the departments would have
taken too long. As a result the company gathered an Implementation Team to investigate on the
replacement of the application.
Thanks to the previous experience of the SVP of manufacturing Carl Redfield it was clear that the
implementation of IT projects can take a long time to be effective. In order to make the
implementation as quick as possible Redfield suggested to implement the project all at once and to do
not personalize the new system. Projects that are divided into phases and customized tend to take
longer time to be efficient, and many times they tend to become only an adaptation of the previous
method. He suggested also to make the implementation a priority for every department: the
involvement of the entire company is important for the effectiveness of the project.
Other than selecting within the company the best components for the Implementation Team, it was

Animal breeding is a commonly used process all over the world, used to bring new puppies into the
world for young children and families, or farm animals for more farming production. However what
most do not know is that those animals are not always from a nice pet store or a facility that treats
their animals well. Breeding animals like dogs or farming animals in places that are illegal often times
leads to forms of abuse for them. Puppy mills often times sell dogs that went through painful
treatment and are typically sick in some way. Health Beauty Close Up interviewed some animal
organizations who says a puppy mill is, a dog breeding operation, which offers dogs for monetary
compensation or remuneration, in which the physical, psychological and/or behavioral needs of the
dogs are not being fulfilled due to inadequate housing, shelter, staffing, nutrition, socialization,
sanitation, exercise, veterinary care, and/or inappropriate breeding ( Pet Industry and Animal Welfare

animals bad their entire lives or not even giving them the chance at life. Breeding farm animals or
dogs in mills should be banned because of terrible living conditions, breeding being used for their
profits, and giving animals illness or causing death.

Beowulf An Epic Hero
Introduction
Epic is a word can be very confusing. In ordinary conversations, one could refer to an epic hero as just
a hero possessing remarkable strength, and personal characteristics, which are considered timeless.
However, a true, literary epic hero has to meet a given set of criteria concerning his character and
abilities: qualities, which make him to be different or at a level that is above other great people.
According to Cascio (n.d), epic heroes are heroes who are on a mission, and they exhibit various kinds
of superhuman powers displaying generosity, loyalty, as well as courage. The epic story Beowulf is
generally an epic that is well known and is described as one of the best epic stories. The epic hero
Beowulf in the novel Beowulf illustrates characteristics of physical strength, courage, self confidence,
wisdom, as well as loyalty, much like today heroes.
Additionally, an epic hero refers to a bigger than life hero embodying the values of a given society
(Trask, 1998). In most instances, epic heroes generally have superior strength, and besides, they

In the Homeric tradition, Epic heroes are often demigods. Unlike Hercules, as well as Achilles,
Beowulf, is generally not depicted to have a god as a biological parent, though it was commonly said
that he had the favor, as well as the blessings of God. For instance, when the mother of Grendel tried
to slash Beowulf through the use of a sword, the sword failed to penetrate. As pointed out by the
narrator, the sword was less powerful in comparison to armor of Beowulf, which was too powerful.
God s grace provided the strength. Weapons that are used by the epic heroes are distinguished
heirlooms or godly gifts. Hrunting, which was the sword of Beowulf, is generally a powerful, as well
as an ancient heirloom that he was given by Unferth (Carruthers,

Canada s Electoral System
It has become widely accepted that Canada uses a first past the post electoral system. However, this
system may not be in the best interest of Canada any more. There are many reasons why Canada
should change its electoral system to a mixed member proportional one, a variant of proportional
representation. With a first past the post system, the elected officials will always be of the majority
and this excludes minorities from fair representation. Adopting MMP can create stronger voter
turnouts, more personal campaigning, better individual representation, and better party selection. John
Hiemstra and Harold Janson, are both in favour of a MMP electoral system. They understand that with
the switch, the citizens will get more representation in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One can come to a conclusion that plurality systems have a major flaw and that is inequality. Adopting
a MMP would be a huge step forward in Canadian democracy. With a MMP system in place, more
women would be elected to the legislature because it creates fairness. With more women in the
legislature, it can make a substantial difference in the types of laws that may be proposed and passed.
Another advantage MMP brings to Canada is instead of electing one member of the legislature in each
small district, Canada would use larger districts to elect several members. To add to this advantage, the
candidates that win the seats in these multi member districts are determined by the proportion of votes
each party receives. With Canada s current electoral system, one citizen s vote counts for less than
another citizen s vote. By changing to a MMP system, Canada can give more equality and fairness
back to the citizens.
Proportional representation is almost always acknowledged as the fairest electoral system. With this in
mind, many still reject a mixed member proportional system. Critics argue that the current method has
produced a stable and effective government, while MMP would create an ineffective government.
Wiseman feels that since Canada has been consistently stable, our electoral system does not need to be
changed. Hiemstra and Jansen disagree with the plurality system that is currently in place for it does

The Between Heat And Energy
The term thermodynamics is known as the branch of physics that covers the relationship between heat
or temperature and all the forms of energy, including mechanical, electrical, or chemical.
Thermodynamics is a combination of four laws, which are known as zeroth law of thermodynamics,
first law of thermodynamics, second law of thermodynamics, and third law of thermodynamics.
According to Wolfram, The relation between heat and energy was important for the development of
steam engines, and in 1824 Sadi Carnot had captured some of the ideas of thermodynamics in his
discussion of the efficiency of an idealized engine (1019). After this statement was made, scientist
developed its laws. The term thermal equilibrium is when two bodies are at the same temperature.
Therefore, the zeroth law of thermodynamics states that if two bodies are in thermal equilibrium with
a third body, they are all in thermal equilibrium. In other words, they are all have the same
temperature. Joseph Black was one of the first scientist and physic known as founder of the zeroth law
of thermodynamics in the late 18th century.
The first law of thermodynamics states that heat energy can not be created or destroyed. It can be just
transformed into other forms or transferred into another location. Rudolf Clausius and William
Rankine were the first physics that made a full statement of the first law of thermodynamics in 1850.
It is also known as another version of the law of conservation of energy.

  • 2. Sleep Preventilation Syndrome Sleep is defined as a complex and reversible condition where the body undergoes a period of unresponsiveness to external stimuli. Its main feature is the behavioral quiescence and the reduced unresponsiveness to stimulus on the exterior surfaces. Sleep is triggered and controlled by the central nervous system that uses networks of various neurotransmitters that are localized at a particular region in the brain. The neurotransmitters networks are redundant and any interference with a specific localized networks tampers with the sleep condition (Holtbernd, 2014). In spite the fact that sufficient proof on the functions of sleep is still unclear, it is unquestionable that sleep is a vital component in the development and normal functioning of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But encouragingly, there are some ways we can deal with the situation either to prevent it or reduce its severity. The most crucial treatment approach is sleep hygiene. It is exercised by using the bed for sleep only and not reading or watching television, exercising daily, and avoiding caffeine. Another way to deal with the conditions is by losing weight. This helps more in treating obesity hypoventilation syndrome and insomnia (Postuma, et al. 2015). Pharmacological therapy also is an important aspect of treatment. Some drugscan be bought in chemists and administered under the doctor s prescriptions. Observing proper diets and activities are equally crucial in the treatment of the disorders. It is best when patients avoid sleep interfering substances like alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine. Large meals and spicy foods should not be taken three hours prior sleep time (Wang, 2014). Lastly, long term monitoring is only required for severe cases. This calls for the intervention of experienced medical personnel or a psychiatrist to monitor and examine the condition for the establishment of a proper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It all started when five kids came together wanting to play music. Then went on to be the most well known bands in history. Def Leppard has become one of the best bands of the 20th century. Def Leppard was a band that had five kids interested in music in many ways. For example, Phillip Kenneth became interested when he got his first guitar when he was 16. Also, Rick Allen was 11 years old when his parents got him his first drum set (Jeffery, 2011). When the band began to play at a younger age, it inspired them to play for a career. • 4. Comparing Maupassant s Necklace and Chekov s Vanka Essay Narrators and Sympathy in Maupassant s Necklace and Chekov s Vanka In Guy de The Necklace and Anton Chekov s Vanka, the narrators attitudes are unsympathetic toward the protagonists Mathilde and Vanka. However, where the narrator of The Necklace feels outright hostility toward Mathilde, the narrator of Vanka voices his opinion more passively by pointing out the flaws in Vanka s wishful thinking. In The Necklace, the narrator s unsympathetic feelings toward Mathilde are made evident in the first paragraph when he states, she had no dowry, no expectations, no means of being known, understood, loved, wedded by an rich and distinguished man; and she let herself be married to a little clerk at the Ministry of Public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eel is beaten several times a day for various reasons, presumably by Vanka s grandfather; therefore, if Vanka should live with him, he would probably be beaten as well (47). In fact, Vanka tells his grandfather that he can thrash [him] like Sidor s goat if he misbehaves or does something wrong (48). The narrator of The Necklace shows that Mathilde is a shallow person due to her insistence that she would not go to the ball without a new dress, and that she would only wear jewels, never flowers, although they were in fashion (67 68). Mathilde appears to be more concerned with how everybody thinks she looks, than how they actually think of her as a person. Mathilde furthers this impression when she and Loisle are leaving the dance and she would rather be in the cold than have the other ladies see them in their modest wraps of common life (69). However, the narrator of Vanka further portrays Vanka as a sympathetic, but naive, character. In his letter, Vanka writes about how he is beaten several times a day and frequently goes hungry because as for tea, or soup, the master and mistress gobble it all up themselves (48). He would even run away to the village, but [he has] no boots even though he works for a shoemaker (48). The fact that Vanka writes to his grandfather in secret with an old pen he had salvaged further shows how scared of his master he is in that he hides his actions for fear of receiving ... Columbus and the New World Discovery Essay Columbus and the New World Discovery October 12, 1992, marks the five hundredth anniversary of the most crucial of all encounters between Europe and the Americas. In the contemporary global mood, however, the quincentennial of Christopher Columbus s landing in the New World new, anyway, to the European intruders; old and familiar to its inhabitants seems an occasion less for celebration than for mediation. Indeed, in some quarters the call is for penitence and remorse. There are formulas where you plug numbers into and solving for the x variable. I would consider myself somewhat good at math I do not always get a concept right away but I will work through the difficulty until I discover how to understand the concept at hand. I will study and persevere until the challenge at hand is resolved. Usually, I am a quick learner which allows me to understand math fairly quickly and at a easy rate. However, there are some parts of math that come more naturally to me than others. For example, in precalculus I found graphing more straight forward and easy to understand. Where as with trigonomic functions where I had to make both sides equal the same functions I tended to get confused quicker. This happened because there were multiple ways to get to the same answer and multiple answers so I felt like there was no one correct way. There was lots of variation and flexibility and there was less structure so it went against the usual ways I learn math. I was forced to change the way I had traditionally learned math. To learn math means that you are being shown daily applications such as keeping track of money, figuring out a budget, seeing how much space you have in your room, and so forth. There are tons of daily applications for math some of which I don t even fully realize. When I do realize how math has helped in my daily life I tend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Pros And Cons Of The Null Hypothesis The Null Hypothesis is the thought that all vertebrates (with the exception of humans) are of equal intelligence (Pearce, 2008). The Null Hypothesis was proposed by Macphail (1982) and has since been widely debated; we will break these debates into six categories for further examination. Associative Learning Associative learning is the capability of animals to learn associations between two stimuli or a behavior and a stimuli. Associations can be made via classical conditioning or operant conditioning. One of the biggest arguments against the Null Hypothesis is that the experiments done have been confined to a species but not done in a cross species design. This could mean that while one species may learn an association through classical conditioning it may not be able to learn it through operant conditioning or vice versa. As far as studies to date show, all vertebrae species are capable of forming associations however further research is needed to prove if all vertebrae species possess the same processes in forming associations. • 30. Essay on James Madison James Madison In the years following the Revolutionary War, the economic and political condition in the newly declared nation was disastrous. The young states were in extreme debt after the expense of the war, and economic growth was hampered by the fact that each state had its own tariffs and currencies. The Continental Congress was helpless to repair the dilemma because of its inability to tax (Garraty, 1971). In the middle of all the confusion, however, a commercial dispute, the Oyster War, between Virginia and Maryland was successfully solved with assistance from General George Washington and James Madison. James Madison took every measure possible to ensure the success of the Constitutional Convention. He began by urging the seemingly unenthusiastic Washington to attend the Convention, realizing the importance of his appearance at this meeting. Washington was seen as the hero of the revolution, and his absence would be disastrous to the public approval of any document the Convention might agree on. Madison, understanding the eventual need for public approval as well as the delegates , carefully persuaded the General to attend (Overview, 2000). Having ensured that the meeting itself would meet with approval, Madison set to work to create a proposal that would do the same. He prepared extensively for the Constitutional Convention before it ever convened at Philadelphia, studying the strengths and weaknesses of every historical government he could find information on. His studies were extremely intense; Madison delved into well known and obscure forms of government alike, from all continents and peoples, searching for the faults and virtues of each. He made extensive notes on all his readings, and compiled his own ideas of how to create a successful government (Kauffmann, 2000). Upon sharing and defending his views with his fellow delegates at the Virginia Convention, an extensive proposal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The U.S. was convinced that if they could send forces to Europe and help the Allied Forces to win the war, they would gain a better status worldwide as the country that saved the peace and democracy. Therefore, the United States government sent thousands of soldiers to fight the war. The other great factor that influenced in how President Hoover handled the situation of the Bonus Marchers was the fact that the American Communist Party was involved. One of their leaders, John Pace, was immersed in the protesters with the mission of developing a stronger manifestation against the government; however, the Communist Party did not have a big number of people inside of the riot. Although they took responsibility of the manifestations and declared that they were leaders and pioneers in arguing in favor of the Patman s Bill, the truth is that communist were only a few and it is not too clear if they influenced in the way that the manifestation was done. President Hoover though, saw that communists were part of this riot and he was afraid of an uprising in Washington, so he tried everything that was on his power to stop the protest. Also, he saw the rebellion as a militia that was trying to destroy capitalism by the force, instead of seeing that the true people who were fighting were unemployed, starving veterans, looking for solutions. Cezanne applied his paint in thick layers with broad, discrete, and methodical brushstrokes, remaining true to the architectural ideal that every portion of the canvas must contribute to the structural integrity of the painting. With each brushstroke, Cezanne was constructing a picture as apposed to painting it (Paul Cézanne Biography). In contrast, Monet used a single color, applying it, using a bold, flat and evenly loaded brush. This technique is called tache, a French word for blot. This technique moved paintings away from the blending of colors on the canvas, and led to the application of different colors to represent the ripples across water and how the light falls on the subject, as seen in Monet s painting On the Bank of the Seine ( Brushwork ). Alternatively, Thomas Cole came from the Hudson River School where he learned to render crisply defined forms in paint. He avoided painterly flourishes that called attention to his techniques. He used a thin wooden board which rested on the artist s arm to mix his paints ( Hudson river, Pallet ). Cole would sketch the scene and then return to the studio to paint the ... However what most do not know is that those animals are not always from a nice pet store or a facility that treats their animals well. • 36. Beowulf An Epic Hero Introduction Epic is a word can be very confusing. In ordinary conversations, one could refer to an epic hero as just a hero possessing remarkable strength, and personal characteristics, which are considered timeless. However, a true, literary epic hero has to meet a given set of criteria concerning his character and abilities: qualities, which make him to be different or at a level that is above other great people. According to Cascio (n.d), epic heroes are heroes who are on a mission, and they exhibit various kinds of superhuman powers displaying generosity, loyalty, as well as courage. The epic story Beowulf is generally an epic that is well known and is described as one of the best epic stories. The epic hero Beowulf in the novel Beowulf illustrates characteristics of physical strength, courage, self confidence, wisdom, as well as loyalty, much like today heroes. Additionally, an epic hero refers to a bigger than life hero embodying the values of a given society (Trask, 1998). • 38. Canada s Electoral System It has become widely accepted that Canada uses a first past the post electoral system. However, this system may not be in the best interest of Canada any more. There are many reasons why Canada should change its electoral system to a mixed member proportional one, a variant of proportional representation. With a first past the post system, the elected officials will always be of the majority and this excludes minorities from fair representation. Adopting MMP can create stronger voter turnouts, more personal campaigning, better individual representation, and better party selection. John Hiemstra and Harold Janson, are both in favour of a MMP electoral system. They understand that with the switch, the citizens will get more representation in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One can come to a conclusion that plurality systems have a major flaw and that is inequality. Adopting a MMP would be a huge step forward in Canadian democracy. With a MMP system in place, more women would be elected to the legislature because it creates fairness. With more women in the legislature, it can make a substantial difference in the types of laws that may be proposed and passed. Another advantage MMP brings to Canada is instead of electing one member of the legislature in each small district, Canada would use larger districts to elect several members. To add to this advantage, the candidates that win the seats in these multi member districts are determined by the proportion of votes each party receives. With Canada s current electoral system, one citizen s vote counts for less than another citizen s vote. By changing to a MMP system, Canada can give more equality and fairness back to the citizens. Proportional representation is almost always acknowledged as the fairest electoral system. With this in mind, many still reject a mixed member proportional system. Critics argue that the current method has produced a stable and effective government, while MMP would create an ineffective government. Wiseman feels that since Canada has been consistently stable, our electoral system does not need to be changed. • 40. The Between Heat And Energy The term thermodynamics is known as the branch of physics that covers the relationship between heat or temperature and all the forms of energy, including mechanical, electrical, or chemical. Thermodynamics is a combination of four laws, which are known as zeroth law of thermodynamics, first law of thermodynamics, second law of thermodynamics, and third law of thermodynamics. According to Wolfram, The relation between heat and energy was important for the development of steam engines, and in 1824 Sadi Carnot had captured some of the ideas of thermodynamics in his discussion of the efficiency of an idealized engine (1019). After this statement was made, scientist developed its laws. The term thermal equilibrium is when two bodies are at the same temperature. Therefore, the zeroth law of thermodynamics states that if two bodies are in thermal equilibrium with a third body, they are all in thermal equilibrium. In other words, they are all have the same temperature. Joseph Black was one of the first scientist and physic known as founder of the zeroth law of thermodynamics in the late 18th century. The first law of thermodynamics states that heat energy can not be created or destroyed. It can be just transformed into other forms or transferred into another location. Rudolf Clausius and William Rankine were the first physics that made a full statement of the first law of thermodynamics in 1850. It is also known as another version of the law of conservation of energy. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
