The document discusses different types of heroes found in literature that do not fit the classic definition of a hero. It provides examples of Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit and Miss Havisham from Great Expectations as unconventional literary heroes. While Bilbo displays bravery against enemies, his true heroism lies in his compassion. Miss Havisham, who was jilted at the altar, devotes her life to helping others despite her inner turmoil, making her a hero through moral courage rather than physical feats. The document argues that heroes come in many forms and true heroism is defined more by acts of empathy, compassion and moral courage rather than strength or pride.

The document discusses the mechanism of action of the antimicrobial drug silver sulfadiazine. It works by displacing hydrogen bonds in bacterial DNA, preventing replication. Mammalian cells have more DNA so it does not impair them. Being insoluble, silver sulfadiazine slowly forms silver chloride and sodium sulfadiazine in tissue exudates. Sodium sulfadiazine then blocks bacterial use of PABA for folate synthesis. Hamlet is one of Shakespeare's most complex and compelling characters. He can be seen both as a victim of circumstances beyond his control, as well as a hero who takes action, even if belatedly, to right the grave injustice done to his father.
Hamlet is certainly a victim at the beginning of the play. He is thrust into a situation not of his making, having to deal with the death of his father, the hasty remarriage of his mother, and the ascension of his uncle Claudius to the throne. The beaches of South Carolina are experiencing rapid erosion due to storms, sea level rise, and coastal development. Past attempts to prevent erosion, such as jetties and seawalls, have proven damaging and exacerbated the problem. Current efforts focus on beach nourishment projects that pump new sand onto beaches to replace what has been lost, but these are expensive to maintain. Sea level rise also contributes to erosion, as barrier islands and beaches slowly move inland over time as more sand is transported away. Erosion threatens both the economic benefits of tourism and the natural beauty and resources of South Carolina's coastal areas.

The document discusses ethnographic research and how it differs from other research methods. Ethnography involves prolonged fieldwork where researchers study a group in their natural environment to understand their daily lives, beliefs, values, and culture. It provides a holistic perspective through thick description. In contrast, other methods may involve brief observations or surveys that only capture surface-level perspectives. Ethnography aims to deeply understand the emic, or insider, viewpoint rather than coming in with predetermined categories or ideas.

The IDEAL model proposed by Bradsford includes 5 steps: (1) Define the problem, (2) Explore possible strategies for solving the problem, (3) Anticipate outcomes, (4) Look back and learn from the experience. This cyclical problem-solving process allows learners to continually refine and improve their problem-solving abilities.
Reliability is an important consideration for smart grids. Currently, utilities only know of outages when customers call to report them. Smart grids aim to use sensors and communication technologies to automatically detect and respond to outages. This will help utilities restore power more quickly. Advanced metering infrastructure is one approach, using meters that can communicate outage information. Such improvements help meet customer expectations for reliable power and prepare for challenges like an aging grid and increased penetration of renewable energy.
Here are the key aspects of Toyota's Production System (TPS):
- Just-in-time (JIT) production: Producing only what is needed when it is needed to avoid waste from overproduction and excess inventory. This minimizes waste and saves costs.
- Autonomation: Giving workers flexibility and problem-solving skills through tools like andon cords and standardized work processes. This improves quality and productivity.
- Jidoka: Building quality checks into the production process itself through tools like andon cords and stoppage of the line if issues are detected. This improves quality.
- Pull system: Producing only when "pulled" by customer demand rather than producing to forecast. This avoids
This document discusses a case study of implementing a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) for an organization called Catalyst. A CMDB plays an important role in supporting many ITIL processes, but Catalyst was facing challenges with manual processes, diverse tools and data models across different locations. Successfully implementing a CMDB that can centrally collect harmonized data based on an agreed core data model is important. However, collecting, maintaining and ensuring quality of the data in the CMDB requires effort and resources.

The document discusses a merger between Cineworld Group and City Screen Limited. The
competition commission investigated whether the merger would reduce competition. A merger
combines two separate companies into a single new company. Mergers are common when companies
want to increase market share, expand reach, or access new markets. The report examines the

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

2. Similarities Between Things Fall Apart” by Achebe and The...
Essay Things Fall Apart
The breakdown of African society has been steadily increasing through the last century and still
continues to fall apart today as western civilization looks to extend it s way of life. There is striking
similarities between the book Things Fall Apart written by Chinua Achebe and the poem The Second
Coming written by William Butler Yeats, that is concerning the demise in some respect of the African
culture. The two pieces of literature shows from the African peoples point of view of the disintegration
of their culture and beliefs, with the assimilation of Christianity and their belief in a singular god.

As time goes on the ideology of the Umofia clan changes to the point where it can no longer go back
to the way they used to know which is in line with the poem that Surely some revelation is at hand;

and the changes that have occurred among them, as been one that is not totally accepted by everyone
in Umofia. The village however is not totally against the Christians arrival as they have bring
education for the people, hospitals, and a market that helps to increase the flow of money into the clan
itself which also causes some to abandon their traditional African way of life. I feel that the poem and
the novel help to capture the way some will feel among the new kinship between the traditional
African society and the introduction of the white men . Some will embrace this change as they see
benefit in the new relationship with education, health care, and profits. However some will not
embrace the change among the tribe, as they see how this new friendship is causing destruction of
their culture and way of life. This continuing struggle is still being waged among many African tribes
today. To me these pieces of literature help capture the ongoing

The label of inferiority poses immense challenges on the structure of a society. Branding a group of
people as savages creates divisions in society that drastically affects how individuals are supposed to
interact with these inferiors. It makes you think of someone who is uneducated or unsocialized, one
who is not granted full rights and privileges. Other words that might have the same the sort of
connotation for many in the United States today are alien, immigrant worker, or illegal immigrant. For
immigrants who arrive on the shores of America for opportunity, a bleaker outlook has to be realized

Using these concepts to better understand the complex reality of race relations in the United States, a
clearer picture can be painted of why white racial supremacy has been so powerful in all aspects of
U.S. American society.
The institution of slavery in the United States of America was a process that evolved over generations;
an institution which developed in the northern colonies of New England area very differently than the
Southern colonies. In the South, slavery as an institution started to enhance the productivity of
agriculture. It may not have been the most humane way to grow cotton or sugar cane, but slavery
provided essentially free labor to white farmers: The settlers in the Southern States were naturally
tempted by the example of the West Indian planters, to make use of these imported black[s] in the
service of field labor ( Slaves and Slavery ). African people were kidnapped from their home, shipped
across the Atlantic Ocean, and sold as property in order to do manual labor for white people. Many
today are ashamed that the U.S. went through such a cruel period of history when we subjected
millions to the atrocities of the slave trade. The result of the 1860 census states that almost 13% of the
population was slaves, or four million slaves in a country of only 31 million people (US Census

English went on a long and vigorous adventure to have become the vast language that we know, speak

will be discussed by referring to an extract of Matthew 2: 4 10 from The Gospel of Saint Matthew in
West Saxon: edited from the manuscripts by James Wilson Bright (1910:5 6). In the discussion there
will be referred to the differences and similarities in orthography, spelling, vocabulary and syntax.

Quite a few of the Old English vocabulary can still be found in the Modern English we speak and read

there are familiar words, for example, awriten which is written , læst is last , forð is forth , steorra is
star , etc. These are words which seems familiar, but because of the various influences and where
English comes from there is differences and unfamiliar words. Modern English differ from Old
English because as the language grew it took in more words and replaced old versions of words
(2011:22). For example, the word sacerda which means priests is from the Latin word sacerdos and
folc and ic is Germanic words for people and I . There are also words from Anglo Saxon, like heretoga

Firsty,we can analyze the Chinese language and what has been written about the the notion of face.
When we analyze what has been written in Chinese,we can see many thing about the notion of the

aspects of the notion of face. Face is the(Chinese) social ideology which determine the status of
people in the society.Ho(1976)continues to explain the notion of face in Chinise.Face isn t a
stable/standard behavior but it is a mixture of judgements concerning the extent.Face isn t seen as an
analytic exercise but it can be used in literature, everyday speech and figurative meaning. Face is both
the mixture of nuances of social interactions and values that is given in the society. Face isn t stable
thing. Ho(1976)explains that the notion of face is in Chinese origin and this notion is the literal
translation of Chinese lien and mien tzu.Hu(1944)makes an important distinction between these two
concepts of face. Mien tzu reflects the prestige of person in the society but the lien reflects the
confidence of people in the society. In spite of these distinction, they can be used together in Chinese
context. Loss of face comes out when a person fails to meet some requirements in society. For Chinese

and stress the fact that this is a collective learning process that requires group effort, inputs and buy in
from all agencies. This important factor will eliminate redundancy, waste of resources and
interoperability between forces which is crucial to effectiveness. The third step is effectively
managing and sharing resources that are critical to all jurisdictions. Mutual aid arrangements need to
be in place to access facilities, services, and support from other jurisdictions throughout the incident.
A resource management system should be established for describing, inventorying, requesting,
tracking, activating and dispatching resources. This will also help in financial tracking,
reimbursement, and reporting. The fourth step is for the city to employ a unified command to establish
connection between deployed responders. This will enhance collaboration between several functional
teams like police and fire departments and will build consensus between them. The fifth and most
important step of implementing the IMS is to develop an ongoing maintenance plan. The previous
four steps can be reviewed periodically and will always have room for improvement. All levels of city

8. Beethoven Op-2 Essay
In the first movement of Beethoven s Piano Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, op. 2, the composer draws on a
variety of stylistic strands that contributed to the evolution of the mature classical style. Through an
analysis of specific musical elements, which include references to form and style, structure, harmony,
thematic material, dynamics and textural considerations, I will show how Beethoven adheres to the
formal and stylistic conventions associated with the sonata during this period, as well as how he
asserted his own voice, creating his own Beethovenian style. Beethoven makes use of a multitude of
styles throughout the exposition, moving from style galant to Sturm und Drang and ending in
empfandsamer. The primary theme in mm. 1 8 exemplifies the qualities of style galant. Beethoven
uses a two measure long motive repeatedly in the right hand and block chords in the left. The
dominant right hand melody with chordal accompaniment in the left is an indicator for style galant. In
m. 9 he begins the transition away from F minor, and arrives at A flat Major in m. 20. As he introduces
new material in mm. 15 19, Beethoven continues to use these qualities. After the transition comes the
secondary theme in m. 20. The secondary theme displays a legato lyrical ascending pattern with
chromatic points, varying drastically from the much more detached melody in the first primary theme.

9. The Purpose Of The Athenian Army
Part 3
1) The Athenian Army
The purpose of the Athenian army was to was to secure Athenian democratic society. The army fought
battles against other Greek states and foreign states most often against oligarchies and aristocracies.
The army was managed by a polemarch (senior military title), along with ten generals from the ten
tribes of Athens.
The largest component of the army was the infantry composed of hoplites (citizens fighting in a full
set of armour). They went into battle protected by a helmet, breastplate, and greaves (shin guards),
carrying a large round shield and long spear. The state would sometimes issue such equipment to
citizens who could not afford a set of their own.
The Athenian army was primarily male citizens, who were made to enlist at the beginning of the year
following their 18th birthdays. For two years, new cadets (known as ephebes) trained full time. After
training, they rejoined public life, though they were committed to the army for 40 years. At any time,
they could be called to duty to defend Athens. The people elect two athletic trainers and instructors for
them, to teach them their drill as heavy armed soldiers and to use the bow, javelin, and sling.
Richer Athenians enrolled in the cavalry, as always, a smaller elite military force made up of those
wealthy enough to own and maintain a good mount. The state would call upon an inspection and

Throughout the journey, Bilbo is able to defeat a few enemies, such as when he buys time during the

that even when he starts becoming useful for the group... he is humble; Bilbo doesn t mock on those
he defeats, as the classic hero tended to do (44), rather the mockery is used to defeat the enemies. A
clear example is the incident with the spiders, where he angers them by calling them offensive names
in order to give the dwarves a chance to escape. Despite all these differences, Bilbo is still accepted as
a hero in today s society and does share some traits with the classic hero. One of the reasons I believe
he is accepted in today s society is because he is easy to relate to, demonstrating pleasure in his
domestic lifestyle, but at the same time, possessing a natural curiosity and a desire to enjoy the
occasional adventure outside his comfort zone. He also has the admirable quality of loyalty and
persistence. Even when the dwarves wanted to know why he had ever been brought at all, why he
could not stick to his friends and come along with them, and why the wizard had not chosen someone

Now with all these know facts, acts, opinions all viewed as good and bad a decision can be made by
looking at what is helping and what is not helping. What was the main goal and purpose of the

services. King Phillip even trades good news for a bunch of items from Rowlandson (83). As she gains
more trust with the Indians she is granted leave to go visit her family by herself. The change in the
attitude of the Indians towards the captives was dramatic nearing their release, showing that they were

learning was only accomplished by the people who were captured by the other side such as

15. Summary Of Crossing The Wire
Crossing the Wire is an award winning book about a young boy s journey across the Mexican border
and into America. Although Crossing the Wire is not based on a true story, it expands on a very real
problem that many immigrants face. The story captivates the idea of what it s like to be an illegal
immigrant whilst having a family to provide for. From the viewpoint of Victor Flores, the main
character, we see the difficulties Victor has and how he works his way through them. There are many
lessons to be learned from the novel, three of which are: having endurance, thinking through tough
decisions, and putting family first. The first lesson that can be taken from the book is to have
endurance.Throughout the novel, Victor Flores, the main character, encounters many obstacles.
Unfortunately, He comes face to face with things that almost make him lose hope.Though troubles
come his way, he learns to avoid them and have endurance through it all. 2 Corinthians 6:4 tells us to

Victor, unlike Rico was extremely cautious. He put into consideration what he needed to do in order to
keep himself safe and how to deal with the problem at hand. Deuteronomy 17:11 talks about making
wise decisions that have a great impact. The last and final theme to take away from Crossing the Wire
is to always put family first. Victor went through an immense amount trouble to support his family. He
never lost sight of what mattered most and at that always got him through at the end of the day.
Willingly, Victor sacrifices a normal life in Mexico for a hard fought life in America. [1 Timothy 5:8]

On Sunday, October 18, 1871 the largest fire Chicago has ever seen broke out. Hundreds died and
thousands of homes were annihilated. Devistation towered over the city, ashes floated gracefully
through the air as bodies, houses and cherished items burned. People ran in fear, holding their young,
crying for the gone, searching for saftey. Searching for life. Searching for hope. The past few weeks
had been hot, dry, and rainless. A drought. Rain had not fallen for three months. Though, despite the
drought, the O Leary family had been having an exceptional October. The O Leary family consisted of

The mayor made a drastic decision to set the prisoners free to keep them safe from the fire as well. So,
they were released into the midst of the burning streets. Albeit, the police thought the prisoners would

smashing windows of abandon buisnesses and homes, looting them of their goods. Just as everyone
thought the fire was dying down and would no longer spread, the wind picked up, and the fire spread,
causing it to head farther northward. Then, something terrible happened. Fire Devils. Fire Devils are
whirls of air which send burning wood and such things flying through the air, and in this case, across a

Throughout the course of American history, we have seen a complete sway in the pendulum as we

similarities and contrast between the different administrations even if they are both far out or close
together. In class, the analysis of Presidents John Tyler, Andrew Johnson, and Chester A. Arthur was
quite interesting their comparativeness. Although separated by party affiliation, origins, policy
outlooks, and evolving timeline in US history, they uniquely share a comparative touch to each other. I

When he first came into office, he used his Whig backed Congress to push through legislation that
would help settlers to settle and claim new western lands. Tyler also pushed through the Distribution
act that was supported by many of his Whig allies. This gracefulness and cooperation with his party in
Congress soon came to an end when the banking question in the country came about. He adamantly
vetoed national banking acts that were authored by Henry Clay, and even set up a national bank in the
US. This was not the first time the two battled about the bank system. In late 1818, Tyler was given a
chance to closely examine the operations of the one institution that epitomized Clay s American
System: the Second Bank of the United States. The bank had been set up in March 1816, but had

18. Public Relations Institute Of New Zealand Essay
The Public Relations Institute of New Zealand (PRINZ) defines public relations (PR) as the mutual
understanding between organisations and their target audiences. (PRINZ, 2014). The definition will be
broken down and explained by using systems, relationships and management, and the excellence
theories. These theories will be accompanied by an example of PR in a New Zealand organisation, to
explain the relevant models involved with PR in the real world.
PRINZ definition of Public Relations is, The deliberate, planned and sustained effort to establish and
maintain mutual understanding between an organisation and its target audiences. (PRINZ, 2014). This
means that PR is in charge of maintaining a working relationship between the organisation and its
publics. The publics are the variety of different people who are affected by the organisation.
Relationships in regards to PR shows the state existing between the organisation and its key publics, in
which the actions of both impact on the economic, political and social well being of the other.
(Ledingham Brunig, 1998).
A contemporary New Zealand example of PR in an organisation is the BNZ Shake, rattle and roll:

magnitude earthquake that hit Wellington Central in July 2013. BNZ s Wellington office had been

19. Jerks Is An Original Dark Comedy
HYPNIC JERKS is an original dark comedy/horror script that features a very likable protagonist with
a very intriguing sleep disorder. The idea of hypnic jerks is very refreshing as a flaw and it s a disorder
not often talked about. It s nice to see it in the script. The tone combines dark comedy with horror
elements. The script explores themes about life choices and destiny. The script offers a couple of nice
twists.
The highlight is the main character of Ray. He s a charming, yet troubled man, but one can t help but
like him and his dog, Bonham. Equally likable and intriguing is Ambrosia.
As much as one enjoys the characters, the script would benefit from more development in the areas of
structure and plot.
The main concern about the presentation is the lack of a well identifiable goal for Ray. The plotline isn
t entirely clear. Ray transforms himself into a vampire, which appears to be motivated by the idea of
the Vampire Festival, but that doesn t feel like a strong enough motivation.
In addition, the link between Ray transforming into a vampire and his sleep disorder isn t entirely well
connected. He s trying to write, but this too, unfortunately never feels like Ray s true, actionable goal.
Now, if Ray were trying to write about vampires and felt he needed to live his life like a vampire to
help him write to make the world more believable, this would connect his behavior to his objective.
In addition, there s a subplot about women being stalked and then

20. Puget Sound Albert Bierstadt Summary
The painting I have chosen to write about is Puget Sound by Albert Bierstadt. His painting is
representational because you can clearly see the details in the painting and you could imagine the
painting would be of a real place. His work has been said to be more naturalistic rather than realistic
since naturalism comes straight from the artists view and imagination. Bierstadt never actually visited
this place. He painted from his own imagination from other places he has been and people he has seen.
I think the added details in the ocean and embellishment of the clouds are what make the painting so
strong and powerful.
The subject matter of the painting is a portrait that shows the Native American fishermen coming in

The lines outline the water, the clouds, the trees, all show the volume and depth of each element. The
use of lines surrounding the ocean and land show the division between each land and water. The use of
lines on the rocks show the layers and rigid layout of the land instead of just a flat ledge. The painting
also has a lot of shape and definition. The clouds have a fullness so you can see the difference between
sky and land. I think Bierstadt also used some aerial perspective in this painting. The sky is blue in
spots showing that it is further back in the sky. It s almost like you are looking down on the fishermen
from the sky. The light is very bright and tends to stand out over much of the painting. At first glance
your eyes are drawn straight to the light because much of the painting is very dark and gloomy. The
light would be focal point of the whole piece. The light allows you to clearly see the mountains and
the beach. I think a lot of low key values such as the dark clouds and the water were used in the
painting. However, a lot of high key values were used such as the sky and the clouds. This painting is

Introduction What is Narcissistic Personality Disorder? Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a
mental disorder where someone has an exaggerated sense of their own presence, a need for constant
admiration from others and they also have a lack of empathy for anyone (Mayo Clinic). A couple
questions I have include: How does social media effect society? How does social media have an effect
on someone diagnosed with NPD, What are ways you can help someone with NPD, and what are
some ways we can conclude that someone may have NPD on social networking sites? Social media is
what s hot right now and someone diagnosed with NPD will only get wrapped up in its web and will
be negatively impacted by it. The main focus of my research to further my knowledge includes: The
risk factors social media have on someone diagnosed with NPD, signs on social media of someone
who may have NPD, and so on.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Although someone diagnosed with NPD may seem to have this overconfidence, those individuals
have low self esteems and negative criticism are not their cup of tea. What society tends to call those
with NPD are cocky, arrogant, conceited, or big headed. NPD individuals look down on others and try
to belittle others. Individuals with NPD tend to take over in the presence of conversations, they have a
sense of entitlement, and if those with NPD does not get their way or special treatment, they will

Abstract Support Vector Machine (SVM) is regarded as a good alternative of the traditional learning
classification. Terrain classification using polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (POLSAR) imagery
has been a very active research field over recent years. Because of support vector s excellent learning
performance, it has become a research hot spot in the field of machine learning. In this paper, we
firstly evaluate and compare different features for classifying polarimetric SAR imagery and then we
will describe two SVM methods: Normal represents the one without feature selection and weighted
represents with optimal multi feature selection. Obviously, the weighted SVM returns a sparse set of
features and employs less SV s than normal. However, the performance of weighted SVM is no worse
and even better than the performance of normal one. The excellent recognition rates achieved in
experiments indicate that advanced (weighted) SVM is well suited for SAR image classification. The
good performance of the proposed methods is illustrated in three challenging remote sensing

auditory, tactile, taste, and olfactory, that is sensed and attended to. It is characterized by being outside
of conscious control and occurs automatically. These steps include extracting and identifying the
features of a stimulus after the initial reception of information regarding the stimulus. Here, thalamus

They proposed that WM comprises a central executive and attentional controller (top down voluntary
attention) that supervises and coordinates a number of subsystems, including 1) The phonological
loop, which deals with speech based information, and 2) The visuo spatial sketchpad, which deals
with visually based information [60]. The central executive has a flexible structure and it is
responsible for the regulation and control of cognitive processes with the following functions: binding
information from a number of sources into coherent episodes, coordination of the slave systems,
shifting between tasks (or retrieval strategies), selection (the role of selective attention), and
inhibition. Some studies prefrontal cortex, large regions of the cortex (especially the parietal, frontal,
and anterior cingulate), and parts of the basal ganglia are considered as WM [61], [62]. Baddeley [63],
[64] equates the central executive with the SAS described by Norman and Shallice [29] and Shallice
[30]. Baddeley in 2000 [65] introduced the possibility of a new, fourth, component of WM called the
episodic buffer (See Figure 3). The episodic buffer allows information represented in different codes
to be temporarily bound together [60]. It is controlled by the central executive, which can retrieve
information from the episodic buffer into conscious

The figure illustrates the heat pipe as a closed tube where the inner surface is lined with a wick or a
porous material that is filled with liquid near its saturation temperature. The liquid in the wick and the
open vapour corridor is separated by a vapour liquid interface, which is found in the inner surface of
the wick. Heat pipe characteristics are dependent upon size, shape, material construction, working
fluid and heat transfer rate. The operational characteristic of a heat pipe is defined by heat boundaries,
effective thermal conductivity and temperature difference. Nanofluids are used in heat pipes in order
enhance the thermal efficiency of the heat pipe and they are evaluated by their effect on the thermal
efficiency. The thermal efficiency represents the ratio of heat rejected at the condenser section and the
heat input at evaporator section. Recently, many researchers have presented the heat transfer
characteristics of heat pipe using nanofluids.

that it really should be known by people long before they start working. This however is not the case
as Braaksma does a great job of telling his readers that even he did not have this down. His own life
lessons told throughout the article put it all in perspective and gave him the full grasp in the idea. The

The lesson Braaksma taught is a great one that needs a little bit of examination to become even clearer
and greater. It goes from reading about school to the factory and back again. The highs and lows will
shift back and forth as well to help strengthen his points creating that perfect puzzle. With just lows,
the reading would be boring, and with just highs, everything would seem to be a main point, even
when it is not. Which is why the money, the factory life, and even the end are perfect highs. To take
nothing for granted is to become a better person. It gives a better perspective on everything. Taking
something for granted will only show greed or self entitlement which could lead to sadness or even
anger. For instance, if one takes clean water for granted, they will always expect it, or not be thankful
enough for how important it is. If they do not take it for granted than they will be thankful for a glass
of clean water as they will realize it will not always be there. Taking nothing for granted is a simple

PICC lines, or peripherally inserted central catheters, are a convenient healthcare treatment. A PICC

To be caught in the wrong fashion at the wrong time of the day was as greatly to be feared as
addressing a member of society by the wrong title. At this time, large swept up hairstyles with loose

skin that was seen in the Victorian era. Contrary to our ideals today, gray hair was considered very
attractive because it made women appear softer and younger. The main body focus of this time was

The way we live defines us, tradition defines us. Tradition is a very important thing. It is something
that spans many generations and is a part of one s identity. Tradition can define us. Therefore when
tradition is forcibly taken away it can hurt a lot of people and generations. An example of a people
who have had many of their traditions suppressed and taken away are the original inhabitants of the
Americas. Their tradition was taken from them and they were either killed or forced into following a
new tradition which erasing all of their identity. The effect this has on the newer generation is bad
because they will feel like a part of them is missing because their tradition was taken and it can cause
a trauma called generational trauma. The book The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight in heaven,
focuses on a Native American named Victor in order to describe how generational trauma causes a
weakening of tradition because it becomes replaced with alcohol and isolation. In addition, Alexie
presents how a rekindling of old traditions is a way out of this harmful circle.
When Victor was a child his parents would drink a lot and would neglect him because they dealt with
their pain by drinking. They drank because they were drinking away the problems caused by the

There are five different approaches to health promotion, each of these have different aims, methods
and means of evaluation they are not guidelines but individually reflect different ways of working.
(Naidoo Wills, 2009.)
The Medical/Preventive model is scientific and targeted towards high risk groups, the main aim is to
prevent disease and reduce morbidity and premature mortality. The approach is broken down into
three stages these being: Primary prevention The first stage of the approach aims to ensure people are
aware of risks and try to prevent disease through encouraging individuals to take the right steps
towards good health. Secondary prevention This stage is about preventing the growth of further
disease, by using methods such as screening for early diagnosis. Tertiary prevention The final stage is
about reducing disease or illness in the individual and ensuring that recurrence of a disease is
prevented.
The behavioural change model encourages individuals to adopt healthy behaviours into their lifestyles
in order to improve their health. The individual has to take responsibility and want to change their
health behaviours, health professionals are there to advise and educate them how to improve their

concerned with providing necessary input but also requires appropriate assessment. There are a
number of ways to assess students word knowledge both formal and informal test. Many classroom
friendly vocabulary assessments are available that inform instruction and measure vocabulary growth
(Stahl Bravo, 2010). Also, teachers can use various summative assessments to assess student
vocabulary knowledge and growth.
This paper aims at discovering formative assessment, then examining five activities that can be used
as formative assessment for vocabulary. The final part focuses on introduce and evaluate of one of
these five activities. The materials, procedures for conducting this activity as well as its benefits and
drawbacks will be deeply analyzed.

Formative assessment takes place during learning and is aimed to help learning and teaching by giving
appropriate feedback (Lewy, 1990). Nitko (1993) named two purposes of formative assessment: (a)
selecting or modifying learning procedures, and (b) choose the best remedies for improving weak
points in learning and teaching. Gattullo (2000) characterized formative assessment as (a) it is an
ongoing multi phase process that is carried out on a daily basis through teacher pupil interaction, (b) it
provides feedback for immediate action, and (c) it aims at modifying teaching activities in order to
improve learning processes and

33. The Problem Of Down Syndrome
Down syndrome is a situation in which a person is born with too many copies of the twenty first DNA
segment. Every human being has a total of twenty three genetic factors, in which about fifty percent
are paternal. This disability has three causes which include Trisomy twenty one, Mosaic Down
syndrome, and Translocation Down syndrome with Trisomy twenty one being the primary. Many
people feel Down syndrome is hereditary but this carries a very small percent of proof. Down
syndrome does not affect each effected the same but studies and progression has proven to be less than
the average person. This makes it imperative for Teachers to find many different ways to make sure
that every child with DS is gaining the same amount of education as other children. This can be done
by speaking clear while reading to the children and being extremely patient when the children are
taking longer than most students.
Down Syndrome Down syndrome is a situation that effect many families around the world. For
numerous years there were no answers to what caused the disability. Researcher found that there was
one too many copies of one of a genetic segment in the incapacitated. Normally every person has a
nucleus in each cell which is made up of twenty three pairs of chromosomes which are genetic and in
this case there were too many duplicated of the twenty first gene. People affected with Down
syndrome, for so long, were branded by their ability, communication and knowledge. So a man by the

34. The Zone Diet Analysis
The Zone Diet was created by Dr. Barry Sears to reduce diet induced inflammation. The Zone is a
psychological state in the body that can be measured in different tests. If the dieter is in the zone they
have optimized their ability to control diet induced inflammation. The inflammation is the reason the
person gains weight, becomes sick, and possibly aging faster. There are three clinical markers that
define if a person is in a zone, if all three are not met then the person is not considered in the zone. To
be in the zone a person s TG/HDL level needs to be less than one, AA/EPA ratio between 1.5 and 3,
and HbA1c at 5%. The Zone Diet requires that the person balances their plate at every meal or snack
with the three macronutrients, protein,

An Analytical Comparison of Matt Britland s What Is The Future Of Technology In Education? and
Samuel G. Freedman s New Class(room) War: Teacher vs Technology
In the articles What Is The Future Of Technology In Education? by Matt Britland and New
Class(room) War: Teacher vs Technology by Samuel G. Freedman, two different viewpoints are
expressed toward technology integration education. The authors show the implications of technology
on the attitudes of teachers and students. Britland and Freedman agree that technology and theoretical
framework are two inseparable facets but propose different solutions to the actions that should be
taken to result in pedagogical expertise.

Freedman is a professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. In the essay he
does not try to endorse his way of teaching pedagogy, but uses it only as a resource of information.
Through his job he has gained access to statistics and has acquired information through one on one
encounters with students and technology. His direct exposure allows him to find out firsthand what
students think and need when it comes to learning. It makes him more aware of the problem and of
solutions that have already worked. With this in mind he is able to present a more complete

36. Marcel Derain The Burning Of Houses
The way that the colors are used within The Houses of Parliament are very expressive way while the
Burning of Houses, the colors are used in a more realistic manner. André Derain uses the concept of
warm and cool colors in specific areas of the painting; for example he uses warm colors within the sky
and the buildings and the bridge and the people are in cooler colors. The buildings go in a transition
from one end to the other startin with a scarlet red and transfers ( not really in a blended way ) into a
yellow tone. You also see a more faded yellow and red more towards the ground as is up to the top of
the buildings. The clouds are rather white with a tint of yellow and red within them which probably
shows that they re the same temperature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ironically warm colors are red, orange, and yellow and cool colors are blue, green, and purple;
Although this is true it seems to be quite backwards in this painting. Here in this painting I believe that
the day is cooler day as if it were autumn at that time because green an blue are cooler colors; Also the
buildOnes maybe warmer because inside it s always warmer, however noticing the taller building is
more green which shows that it s more cooler up top. Now I m the Burning Houses of the Lords the
colors are used exactly how they would be thought of because the name burning houses clearly
presents itself within the image. You can tell the warm colors from the cool colors since the flames are
showing the colors red, orange, and yellow showing that the temperature is very hot as fire always is. I
also see water and the sky within this image as well and they pose to be cooler colors which appear to
be blues, greens and other colors that are in the cool state. This painting clearly shows where different
temperatures are as apposed to André Derains painting where you more have to guess where the
temperature
