The Handmaid s Tale Propaganda
The propaganda presented by Gilead is used to create a facade of benevolence and in the hope of
masking the reality of their distorted world. The most prominent example being the second news
segment which shows a close shot of a prisoner, with a stubbled and dirty face, flanked by two
Angels in their neat black uniforms (82). Even within the first image it is clear the rebels are to be
thought of as unhygienic whereas the Angels are clean and well put together, representing
someone to be proud of. Gilead choses this juxtaposition for two reasons, the first being for
viewers to associate a sense of disgust with the prisoners and their lifestyle. The second intention is
to further the idea that life within Gilead is much better than the life of the dirty prisoners.... Show

Gilead choses this scene assuming that viewers will see the prisoner s acceptance of the
cigarette as a show of submission as if the prisoners are being saved from themselves and their
way of life. Furthermore, this displays the Angels as kind and generous due to them treating the
prisoner as if he was a child who knew no better. This leaves the viewers believing Gilead must be
somewhat good if they treat rebels with sympathy despite the atrocious acts they have committed
against their citizens. In conclusion, this news segment gives the viewers a false sense of security
within their government. Whereas if Gilead had chose to show Angels assassinating prisoners it
would advance the idea that Gilead is inhumane and

Mead Hall In Beowulf Essay
INTRODUCTION
A Lots of great ideas are born and destroyed in a bar or tavern, leaving you to wonder how different
our whole outlook and way of life would be if we did all our major planning and decision making
there.
B This concept is interesting because of how the Anglo Saxon warrior culture in the story Beowulf
that was translated by Burton Raffel, actually uses the mead hall as their main political and party
house.
C Would this be better than what we do today with separating the work from the play? Or was it
just a thing of the times.
D The Anglo Saxon warrior culture mead hall represents the clearest definition of equality you
could ever think of. Under one roof the decisions by the king are told to the people while a giant
party for the village is happening. By having this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
F By understanding this concept, the Danes created a system close to ours in how the king will
provide protection for the people as they work for him.
G And this form of trade off is brought up when Beowulf shows up in the famed mead hall.
Hrothgar replied, protector of the Danes: (456).
H as Hrothgar is referred to as the protector it shows that he s not just governing the people in from
his castle, he s interacting with them.
I Without the mead hall to act as a common ground for the people and their king to communicate in
Lots of trust and understanding is lost.
J Having the great mead hall creates unity also, by bringing the king and his people closer
together more of the people s problems become the king s and visa versa.
K So when Grendel comes around and starts killing off the people, instead of the king pushing it
off he has to deal with it first and foremost. My tongue grows heavy, and my heart, when i try and
tell you what Grendel has brought us, the damage he has done, here in this hall

Nicole Oresme Research Paper
Nicole Oresme
Abstract
Nicole Oresme, also known as Nicolas Oresme, was born around 1320 in the 14th century on the
outskirts of the Norman city of Caen. Unfortunately, nothing was known of his family. Oresme
was known as one of the most famous scholastic philosophers of the middle age s. He was
known for many different subjects including; economics, physics, astrology, astronomy, theology,
philosophy, and mathematics. Oresme earned his doctorate of arts from the University of Paris
between the years of 1341 1342. In the same year he became grand master of the College of
Navarre. He mainly wrote in the language of Latin but also wrote in French [1]. Oresme was
appointed canon in 1362 and later in 1364 was made dean of the Cathedral of Rouen ... Show more

He came about the idea to use rectangular coordinates and geometric figures to explain uniform
and non uniform distribution of various quantities. For example, he worked on the change of
velocity in relation to time. More importantly, this helped lay a strong foundation that later led to
the discovery of analytic geometry by RenГ© Descartes. Oresme used his geometric figures to
give the first proof of the Merton theorem, shown in figure 1 below. This theorem states, The
distance traveled in any given period by a body moving under uniform acceleration is the same
as if the body moved at a uniform speed equal to its speed at the midpoint of the period [2]. Some
believe that this resulted in later discoveries of kinematics, affecting the later work of Galileo s.
Figure 1 Another mathematical contribution was the development of the first proof of the
divergence of the harmonic series. Oresme s proof had less advanced mathematics then the modern
proof today. His proof on the harmonic series was not touched on until later centuries, and was
only replicated by the Bernoulli brothers [1]. Oresmes proof groups the harmonic terms by taking
2, 4, 8, 16, and so on, after the first two terms, and noting that each block has a sum larger than a

Principles of Physics in Ultrasound Essay
Principles of Physics in Ultrasound
Physics has become an important part of medicine allowing specialist doctors and radiographers to
rapidly access a patient s condition and to help in long term diagnosis.
This enables doctor s to treat patients before their condition deteriorates.
This procedure would not be possible without the use of X rays, CAT scans, MRI scans, ultrasound
and endoscopes, which allow doctors to see inside the body with little or no surgery.
Without such equipment doctors would be forced to use invasive techniques, which could cause
patients more harm as it increases the risk of infection.

The early work in the 20th century used ultrasound as a therapy tool and it was not until the 1940 s
that research began into its use as a diagnostic tool.
The use of ultrasound in medicine began during and shortly after the 2nd World War in various
centres around the world. (NSC, UK national screening committee)
The work of Dr.Karl Theodore Dussik in Austria in 1942 on transmission ultrasound investigation of
the brain provided the first published work on medical ultrasonic s.
Although other workers in the USA, Japan and Europe have also been cited as pioneers, the work
of Professor Ian Donald and his colleagues in Glasgow, in the mid 1950s, did much to facilitate the
development of practical technology and applications.
This lead to the wider use of ultrasound in medical practice in the subsequent decades.
Rapid technological advances in electronics and piezoelectric materials provided further
improvements from energy to greyscale images, and from still images to real time moving images.
The technical advances at this time led to a rapid growth in the applications to which ultrasound
could be put.
The development of Doppler ultrasound had been progressing alongside the imaging technology,
but the fusing of the two technologies in Duplex scanning and the subsequent development of
colour Doppler imaging provided even more scope for investigating the

Since the 1990 s, Spain has entered the global market to claim its position as a high quality value
wine producer (www.winesfromspain.com). Spain s rich wine history together with it s relatively
new global market entry and cost leadership strategy makes an interesting blend of old world and
new world characteristics. State of the Industry Wine is a significant part of Spain s cultural
identity and economy. The sector represents Spain s third largest agriculture crop after cereals and
olives, and it leads the world in vineyard land with 1.16 million hectares
(www.foodswinesfromspain.com). However, most the land is arid and sparsely planted. Yet, it
holds third position globally in wine volume produced (Rubio, 2010). Although Spain has a
traditional wine and food culture, domestic consumption continues to decline. The decreased
consumption is attributed to strict drunk driving laws impacting restaurant sales and the rise of
alternative drinks such as mineral water (Carrion and Albaladejo, 2010). Also, millennials tend to
not drink wine. In fact, the characteristic Spanish wine drinker is an older male with a preference
for high quality aged DO red wines that drinks at home, an aging demographic. Spain s domestic
market consumes 28.2 liters per capita compared to France at 50 liters per capita necessitating an
aggressive export strategy (Mtimet and Albisu; Minjares). Exports now

Eric Maria Remarque s All Quiet On The Western Front
The effects of war on young people lead to the regression of humanity. This statement will be
proved by referring to the novel by Eric Maria Remarque, All Quiet on the Western Front, poems
from Wilfred Owen, Anthem of the Doomed Youth,, To any dead officer , They as well as Christ

war that leads to the regression of humanity.
One of the paramount effects of war on young people is the dehumanization of humanity.
Dehumanization is the psychological occurrence of demonizing the enemy or one self, manufacture
them to appear less than human and therefore not worthy of humane behaviour (Maiese, 2003).
Maiese (2003) adds that it can lead to amplified viciousness, human rights violations, war

Architecture As Space By Peter Goldberger
Critical Studies 3 2015
Art Gallery Analysis
Rohini Contractor 1430251 Architecture as space by Peter Goldberger discusses the significance
of the interior space within architecture as it is where the viewer has a true experience. The
feeling when entering a building builds a foundation for the viewers expectations and is most
influential to their judgement of the space. With a comparison of a person s reaction to a building
from the exterior to the interior, Goldberger explains that an exterior is viewed as a whole and
seen in a context however the interior will mould the persons experience with choice of lighting,
form and space. His discussion of how space can influence the users movement proves that the
architect can directly control the user or even through light determine the mood either with natural
lighting or use artificial lighting for something that can be controlled .
After reading this text I believe there are many different aspects of the interior that play a
significant role in creating an experience for anyone that enters the building. I believe it a
responsibility of the architect to create a feel appropriate for the space, in the case of art
galleries it should be expressive to invite visitors yet not to detract from the artwork itself. Being
a commercial space it should also be suited for an audience of all ages while creating a sense of
community. However Goldberger focusses mainly on interior being a primary experience and

Individualism In Defoe s The Fortunate Mistress
The neoclassical time period served to reinvent the notion of how literature was presented within
society, working to introduce several crucial concepts that worked to alter individual perception,
such as identity, and construct new ways of thinking. One instance of this newfound individualism
can be viewed in Defoe s narrative, The Fortunate Mistress, in which a woman recounts her
personal experience and transformation from a virtuous woman to a whore in response to
unforeseen and unavoidable situations. Critical interpretations of the narrative have neglected to
recognize the significance of how Roxana s role in society and actions depict her as an archetype
for the early feminist individual On the contrary, the majority of critics tend to make the focal point
the end of the novel in order to solidify the argument that the story was abruptly left unfinished and
obscure in nature. As Molesworth puts it, a friendship that has thus far been marked by intimacy,
candor, and forthrightness lapses into an unfamiliarity marked by timidity and apprehension
(Molesworth 495). The tendency to interpret the ending in such a manner has lead to the viewing
of Roxana as an unsuccessful individual, who attempted to deny the norms of social behavior, and
as a result of this, was unable to overcome the obstacles presented and ultimately failed. Be that as it
may, when taking into consideration how Roxana utilizes perception and reflection to analyze her
past experiences, using this

Budget Questions With My School
Sitting down and discussing budget questions with our school bookkeeper was the most chaotic
45 minutes of my school week. I always thought being the bookkeeper would be a stressful job
because of the amount of money you had to deal with and all of the things you had to keep track
of it, not because of everyday office chaos. Our bookkeeper does an exceptional job and our
principal agrees that she will probably never find someone to replace her, however with all of
the other stresses I could understand our bookkeeper leaving. While I was with Mrs. Banks there
were people constantly coming by and asking her to do things. Mrs. Banks does not have her
own office and people often treat her like a secretary. Mrs. Banks and I discussed how this is one
of the main issues with her job.
She talked about how much she loved doing the budgeting and financing part of it, but how it was
extremely difficult to do this and everything else. While I was there she was trying to write six
receipts for faculty members and this took over thirty minutes, something that should take five.
Every time she went to open the receipt books someone would come in with a question (student or
faculty) and she would have to close the receipt book and put it and the money in her drawer to
protect confidentiality. She talked about how this could also cause you to misplace money if you
were not careful. She said some days she has little money and some days she has anywhere from
six to eight thousand

Environmental Effects Of Acid Rain
Acid rain, simply put, is a mixture of rainwater and a few specific chemicals that are emitted both
naturally and non naturally. The process occurs in the lowest layer of the atmosphere, the
troposphere. When compounds such as sulfuric dioxide(SO2) and nitrogen oxides(NO, NO2), are
transported to this layer and react with the other parts of the troposphere(water, oxygen, carbon
dioxide). Acid rain was first discovered in Sweden in 1872, but has been seen as a more prevalent
problem in modern times. Although research had been conducted for many years on acid rain, it
did not become an issue for society until around the 1980 s. Acid rain s effects were vast, harming
natural environments, architecture, and even the public s health. Regulation of chemical emissions
have lessened the threat of acid rain, yet it remains a problem to this day. A
As previously mentioned, acid rain is caused by the mixture of chemical emissions with the
elements of the troposphere. It s very important to note that water has a natural acidity, it s the
excess of oxides that cause the problem. But how did those emissions and oxides make it there?
Naturally, compounds like carbon dioxide(CO2), nitric oxide(NO), and sulfur dioxide(SO2), are
released through just a few processes: decomposition of organic matter, electric discharge(reactions
with lightning and the ozone), as well as release of gasses in volcanic eruptions. However, these
only contribute to the natural acidity of water. Human

Advanced Technology Research Paper
As the human race advances more towards the future, we are able to discover more about our past
and better preserve our people and culture. Multiple technological advances allow different
researchers and explorers to excavate our past and predict the environmental future. The different
types of technology include an underwater mailbox system , Dropsonde Hurricane Sensors, and the
Light Detection and Ranging technique (LIDAR). In addition, the most advanced technology these
hunters have access to today is the Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR) technology. GPR is the most
advanced technology because of it s increased efficency and versitality when exploring ruins and
searching for artifacts.
Ground Penetrating Radar is more efficent for researchers and explorers due to the increased
scanning size, less time spent on manual labor, and the decrease in resources required to explore

Review Of Dennis Covington s Redneck Riviera
Traveling more than ten hours in a car is something that nobody wants to do; however, for Dennis
Covington, it is a top priority for him to make this long journey to the redneck Riviera on the
panhandle in Florida. In the nonfiction book Redneck Riviera (2004), Dennis Covington, comical
southerner, teacher and soldier, describes in his nonfiction piece, the importance of his family
inheritance as over the years he travels to the Gulf Coast of Florida. Throughout the book
Covington tells stories of his childhood and constantly is lightening the mood for example, he

He essentially gets run out of Florida by hog hunters. Covington s editor had told him, No

his stories quite funny. An example of a fallacy he uses a hasty generalization when he says, Sue
shook her head. I think they just did it to make her mad. And break ins happen all the time. Sue
explains that the Hunt Club constantly has control over all of the land. Another example is when
he uses the non sequitur when explaining the cows on the land, saying, the cows they hunted
turned into a scrawny but tenacious breed ... you could hang a hat on them (73). There are also
plenty of scare tactics used by the Hunt Club to fulfill their objective of keeping the land isolated
from outsiders. A specific example is when Peanut says, ...the leaders of the Hunt Club can t
guarantee your safety if you camp on it (76). The detail in his stories and the character involvement
in his journey really add certain rhetoric to his venture. Covington s jargon is used as an informal
way of connecting with his audience. An example of his diction is when he uses the term ne er do

The Levels Of Field Managers And Their Relationships
The 4 Levels of Field Managers and their Relationships
Multi unit enterprises are large corporations that own or manage several stores around the country.
For example Target, Walmart, Home Depot, large hotel chains like Marriott and car dealerships.
How do this corporations manage such an extensive number of stores? How do they all look and
act the same?
According to David A. Garvin and Lynne C. Levesque authors of the HBR article The Multiunit
Enterprise, these large corporations need a hierarchy of field managers that will effectively lead all
stores. To manage large enterprises there needs to be a certain order, this is where the different
management hierarchies come in. Every single step up the ladder has a larger responsibility and
more control over benchmarks and setting goals. However, you can never forget that it s a team
effort. It s about strengthening relationships to be able to work together and communicate
effectively.
There are four levels of field managers; store manager, district managers, regional vice presidents
and divisional heads. Although this might vary from industry to industry this is believed to be true
for the majority of large corporations.
Store managers: are responsible for both the day to day operations and the execution of new
initiatives. Although they have several goals based on their performance such as financial targets,
customer service benchmarks and employee satisfaction goals but they have little say in setting
those goals. On the

Scene Analysis of Chicken Run Essay
Scene Analysis of Chicken Run
This essay will analyse three key scenes from the film Chicken Run. It will look at the characters
that are good and bad. In particular Ginger, the chicken who has the idea to escape from the

After many failed escape attempts the chickens are low on morale until a flying rooster from the
circus come to their rescue. But not everything runs smoothly and rocky the rooster can be
suspected of fowl play.

Also Mrs. Tweedy has a very sniggering tone of voice that just adds to the evil and sinister
character being quickly built up in the space of five seconds.
The use of dark and shadows in the scene really helps us with the idea of who is good and who is
bad. In this scene the lighting is particularly harsh as Mrs. Tweedy is backlit in an unfriendly and
somewhat disturbing manor. Her face is in shadow that gives off a very negative vibe to her as a
person.
The costume in this scene is very simple; Ginger simply wears a green knitted hat possibly, knitted
by Babs. Where as Mrs. Tweedy s clothing is quite contradictive as she is dressed in a pink dressing
gown and a pink frilly nightdress. Her face is in shadow so she looks garish and very cold hearted.
In this first scene we are quickly led to the assumption that Mrs. Tweedy is the boss and the
chickens are small and unimportant. We get a good guide as to who is a good character and who
is a bad character.

presence is a burden. The characters thinking that Kazan needs someone to take care of him also
touches upon a common stereotype used in media, the juvenilization of adults with disabilities
(Baglieri Shapiro, 2012). Quentin told the character, Worth, that his job was to be a baby sitter
and look after Kazan. Using the term baby sitter in reference to Kazan, who is an adult, further
adds to his juvenilization. No other character needed a baby sitter, which shows that they do not
view him as being equal to them. Kazan s survival before the other characters baby sat him is
questioned, which presents an ableist belief. The character, Leaven, being shocked and asking
how Kazan survived showed that she only viewed Kazan in terms of his disability. No other
character was questioned on how they still survived, but since Kazan has autism the group cannot
fathom how he had not died yet. This is clear ableism, with the group believing that them being non
disabled makes them superior to Kazan (Baglieri Shapiro, 2012). The characters only focused on
Kazan s autism and did not want to know anything else about him. Every other character was
questioned on what they did for a living, why they thought they were trapped in the cube, and what
they could possibly contribute to the group. Background information was

Genetically And Modified Dairy Cattle Essay
Cows produce a protein in their milk called BLG and many infants are allergic to this protein.
Two to three hundred infants are allergic to cow s milk, and BLG allergies are seemingly a large
part of this. Various organizations are trying to investigate ways to manipulate the genetic material
in the modified dairy cattle with the main goal of producing milk that doesn t contain the lethal
BLG protein. Daisy is a genetically modified cloned cow and whom does not produce milk
containing the BLG protein but does however have the genefor it. But the mRNA for the BLG
protein has become nonfunctional. Once the protein has been manipulated the cow containing
the modified gene is cloned to produce a calf with the same genetic material. This cloned cow
will then not produce the protein. This technique is very useful to produce a herd without the
protein to gather more milk. Because of this protein produced (BLG) this causes a lot of people
and infants to become very sick and ill. Therefore by creating a herd of cows using the processes
of Gene Knockdown and Cloning this would not only cut out the lethal protein of BLG, but this
will also create cows that don t possess the BLG protein and therefore creating healthy milk for all
to drink.
Gene knockdown refers to experimental techniques by which the expression of one or more of an
organism s genes are reduced. This reduction of genes can occur either through genetic modification
(alters the genetic makeup of an organism using

Analysis Of Riverine By Alice Hoffman
The story Riverine has a lot of great details and interesting quotes that may stick out to a read and
make you wanna continue reading until you finish the whole story. The key thing that stood out
to me early in this book was the quote from Alice Hoffman s Being an outsider is the one thing
we all have in common. The reason for it is because it is completely true not matter what you do
in your life now or in the future you will always be an outsider from time to time depending on
different situations. The narrator of the story feels like an outsider from different times in the story
because she feels perhaps she can not fit in into anything going on around her. She first begins to
feel as an outsider due to the fact that she lives way out

The Pattern And Content Of East Asian Economic Integration
4.1.1. The Pattern and Content of East Asian Economic Integration
The most representative regional economic organization in East Asia is ASEAN, which was
established in Bangkok and formed by five founding members, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines,
Singapore, and Thailand. Brunei, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Cambodia also joined successively
to form the ten countries of ASEAN. ASEAN is abbreviated by Association of Southeast Asian
Nations, which was built to contain the Communist forces with the purpose to steady military
affairs and political neutrality initially. According to Tong (2005), the content of East Asian
economic integration can be classified as Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and Comprehensive
Economic Partnership (CEP). Previously, East Asian economic integration focuses on the operation
of FTA which applies the zero tariffs on member countries; nowadays, economic cooperation
agreement is inclined to CEP which contains wider issues of economic cooperation such as tariff
reduction, deregulation of investment policy, enlargement of factors of production and etc. to draw
the relation between member nations and achieve a higher level of integration (Jin, 2003).
Moreover, the continuing goal of ASEAN is to promote the inter regional economic development,
enhance the partnership and maintain the peace in the region (Taiwan ASEAN Studies Center,
2014). Before Asian financial crisis, ASEAN is a representative of the regional economic
organization that especially focuses on

and concepts related to the named model: 1.Attributes they describe the facts, details or
characteristics of an entity. The attributes that maybe contained in an invoice might be name,
number and paid/unpaid. 2.Table this is where data is stored for processing and output .The
table is defined as a collection of correlating data consisting of rows and columns. For example,
the CUSTOMER or PURCHASES table may entail the customer first name, last name, address
and the product that the customer purchased or wishes to purchase. 3.Field this is a column in a
table that is constructed to save and maintain particular information about records that are stored
in the table. They can include name, age and salary fields. 4.Record commonly called a record,
usually referred to as a slot or space that resides in a table, it is most commonly recognized as a
horizontal entity. For instance, the CUSTOMER s table will consists of numerous related records.

Anthrax Spore
My choice for this week s discussion falls squarely within the biological warfare threat and was
chosen based on its past usage and resilience to environmental variables that may otherwise
degrade the effectiveness of other agents when disseminated from a likely terrorist device. The
anthrax spore is a robust organism, capable of causing a high percentage of fatalities in those who
inhale it and is proven attractive to those seeking to employ biological weapons against America.
The anthrax letters from 2001 which traversed the USPS sickened 22 people and killed 5
(Abramson, 2012, p12). Though there were not a massive number of casualties, panic ensued and
people were fearful of using the postal service, with some policymakers seeking to reinstate
national smallpox vaccinations in case that was the next tool to be used by terror organizations
against America (Abramson, 2012, p12). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that anthrax causes non communicable disease (Abramson, 2012, p17) is a benefit if
employing it as a military weapon as controllability is desired, but terror organizations are unlikely
to see this as either a positive or negative outcome since their desires are accomplished by sowing
fear and causing economic damage. Another factor that makes anthrax attractive to terrorists is the
relatively small quantity needed to cause a mass casualty incident. Only Вј ounce of anthrax spores
are required to cause mass casualties over an area of 1 square mile (Kostadinov Galabova, 2010,

Essay On Budgeting
Did you know Google AdWords just announced on October 4, 2017, advertisers budgets will be
automatically enabled to exceed their daily allotment by two times?
Is this an optional change?
Nope!
Is this a good change and will it affect how you actually allocate your daily ad spend? Well, that
depends.
What Does the New Adwords Daily Budget Update Really Mean for You?
When it comes right down to it what s changed? And do you actually lose any control over your
daily AdWords budget spend?
Google hasn t made any major changes to AdWords in quite some time until now. Google quietly
made the announcement about their new daily budget policy. But the elusive way it was presented
makes advertisers a little nervous because they don t want the ... Show more content on

However, the end result of this policy, which is yet to be seen, has advertisers concluding that
setting a daily budget means nothing now.
Potential Issues (Good and Bad) as a Result of This New Update
There are several things that are going to change and perhaps be a little more challenging. For
example:
1. You ll probably never come in under your monthly advertisingbudget again. That could be good
or bad depending on how you look at it.
2. This change will help you maximize your monthly ad spend by showing your ads to more
people and that s great. Isn t that what you want? Of course you do. But it s also an opportunity
for Google to increase their ad revenue because this will have every advertiser coming a little closer
to spending all of their monthly budget. So it appears to be a win win for everyone.
3. Your daily tracking reports will show more sporadic numbers. On some days your ads will be
overserved and other days they will fall short, but the daily fluctuations will go both ways which
means your spend will level out by month s end.
Explaining How it All Works
Google has always had the ability to exceed the daily AdWords budget you ve selected; however,
they previously had it capped at 20 percent versus the 100 percent they are now using to manipulate
their policy.
This process is called overdelivery. There are some

The first thing to do when making pierogies is to put together the dough. Usually, The dough is
made from flour, eggs, and warm water ( History of Polish Pierogi ). This is most important part of
the pierogi, because if the dough is not good the whole thing will fall apart. Next, is the filling.
The pierogi commonly come in three varieties, pierogi with cabbage, cheese and potatoes
(pierogi ruskie), and meat (pierogi miesem). Once the type is decided, The filling is placed in the
middle, and the dough folded over to form a half circle or rounded triangle shape. The edges are
pressed together to seal the pierogi, so that the filling stays inside during the cooking process. The
pierogi are cooked in boiling water until they float on the surface ( History of Polish Pierogi ).
The dough is the most important step, even though this part is crucial, it decides whether or not
the pierogi survives through cooking. Pierogies also come in sweet varieties along with savory.
Sweet pierogies are filed with applesauce or jam ( History of Polish Pierogi ). Leaving sweet

with onions, mushrooms, bacon, and melted butter ( History of Polish Pierogi ). There are many

Personally, I believe the packaging of the truffles is not fully understandable because red does
denote something hot, while the other flavors wrappers don t fully translate to being hot and
spicy. The truffles were also available in gift boxes, drawstring muslin bags, a collectible tin, and
also in a plastic bag if the customer chose to purchase the truffles on the Cowgirl Chocolates

general market of consumers will more than likely purchase sweet, milky chocolates over hot and

My Family Vacation
A vacation is meant to be a time for serenity and relaxation. In my case it was the complete
opposite, but it changed me for the better. Five years ago a family vacation to Jamaica changed
the way I saw everything and made me appreciate the people I love and where I come from. It all
started with the worst airplane ride. About thirty minutes into the ride the flight attendant started
going around offering snacks. These purple potato chips caught my eye so that s what I decided
to get. I should have known something so bright couldn t have been good to eat. I instantly
regretted eating the chip after taking a bite out of that awfully weird tasting potato chip because
immediately after, I felt a striking pain in my lower abdomen. I tried to relieve the pain by
loosening the seat belt buckle. I drank gingerale, tried to position myself differently to feel less
discomfort but nothing helped. My brother was too busy on his I pad to care, my other brother
was too young to formulate proper sentences and my mom was too far gone in her sleep, she
couldn t have been any help fresh out of slumber. I just rocked back and forth releasing oohs and
ah s here and there because the pain was intolerable. I kept on for the remaining three hour flight
weeping and wincing, trying to keep quiet so I wouldn t disturb anyone. Landing in Jamaica was
supposed to be exciting, but how could I be excited when I was in pain. My mom, two younger
brothers and I were waiting for my uncle to arrive and take us to his house, so I took this
opportunity to tell my mom what was going on. She believed that it might just be cramps so she
buys me two bottles of ginger beerwhich is like the ginger aleof Jamaica, So I drank and I drank
and I drank but nothing happened. My uncle finally arrived after 15 minutes of chugging down the
ginger beer. We were settling in my uncle s house and my mom tried everything she could to make
me feel better. She made tea, gave me more ginger beer, and a hot pack for my stomach but nothing
worked. After my mom and uncle tried everything they could think of they finally came to the
conclusion that it was time to bring me to the doctor.

Medical Influences In Purchasing Decisions
COLLABORATORS
In an effort to reduce healthcare costs, the landscape of delivering healthcare is shifting. The
medical device/equipment procurement process is shifting its emphasis, as procurement officers at
caregiving locations are given more power and influence in purchasing decisions. The responsibility
of controlling costs in healthcare is no longer lies solely with procurement officers but has been
increasingly extended to physicians.
In 2015, 80 percent of physicians said they have personal responsibility to control costs (compared
to just 38 percent in 2005). Only 20 percent of physicians in the same study said they have
complete discretion over the purchasing decisions of medical devices. This newfound focus on cost
for physicians is the result of physicians moving to management led organizations instead of
physician led organizations. While the influence in purchasing decisions has been shifting, both
parties do agree that quality and clinical evidence are the most important criteria in procurement of
medical supplies. Where the two parties differed was the importance of price.
The current landscape of medical equipment purchasing shows consolidation on both ends of the
transaction: distributors are joining forces with each other and buying groups are consolidating to
create Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs). The goal of consolidation is to create cost savings
and efficiencies through economies of scale. These GPOs typically facilitate purchasing for

Blake chose to use a children s song, similar to many nursery rhymes, to explain a theological
matter, in terms that even a child can understand. He begins by asking the age old question:
Who made thee? This initiates the thought process in the reader, causing the reader to begin to
ponder this same question, even if he or she is not conscious of it. He continues to describe all
of the many blessing and provisions the lamb has. This again causes the reader to look
introspectively at his or her own blessings and provisions. He then answers the question by using
God s own words to describe Himself, drawing the parallel between the creator and the created.
Mr. Blake explains how God both became a child, and calls Himself a Lamb, relaying the truth to
his audience that God reveals Himself to His creation through His

4.2 Implementation Details 4.2.1 Data Source Random Bernoulli generator generates binary
data on a per frame basis. In data output, 144 samples per frame are used, and data rate is 36
Mbps. Figure 4.2: Data Source 4.2.2 Forward Error Correction Coding A typical problem in
OFDM based systems is a high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). The available RF power
amplifiers usually have a limited linear dynamic range. This is not a problem for constant
amplitude signals, however, in OFDM, due to IFFT operation, some of the sub carriers add
constructively to large amplitudes while others add destructively. The amplitude of the signals
thus varies randomly and for large amplitude signals, non linear amplifications cause errors.
Therefore, error correction codes are employed. In HiperLan2, the data is coded with a
convolutional encoder of rate 1/2. The convolutional encoder uses the industry standard generator
polynomials, g0 = 1338 and g1 = 1718, and is shown in Figure 4.3. The bit denoted as A is the
first output from the encoder while the bit denoted B is the second one. Higher code rates are
derived via puncturing. In puncturing, some of the encoded bits in the transmitter are removed...

version. The two stories have a lot of similarities as far as the theme and the way the story plays
out for Cinderella. It also has a lot of similarities in the magical transformations. The stories teach to
treat others as how you would want to be treated. To begin with, the two Cinderellastories have the
same evil stepmother and stepsisters. In the German version there is a quote that shows Cinderella
had a very bad stepmom, They were beautiful, with fair faces, but evil and dark hearts. Time grew
very bad for the stepchild. These quotes show that the two Cinderella s had terrible stepmothers and
treated her with no respect no matter how nice she was to them. To begin with, her familymade her

When Cinderella finished her chores her stepmother told her she was beautiful enough to go to
the ball with them. In the German version the stepmother told her Cinderella she could go to the
ball if she did chores but the stepmother tricked her 3 different times. So in both stories its similar
that the stepmother tricked both Cinderella s into doing chores. In two versions of the story, the
godmother figures are different. In the French version, the figure is the traditional fairy
godmother that found her crying because she wanted to go to the ball. In the German version,
there were two white pigeons that carried her dress in instead of using magic to transform her into
the dress, slipper, and carriage. The fairy godmother represents the original figure in the story. The
two white pigeons are part of the German culture so that s why they were used in the story instead

What Is The Progressive Movement
The Progressive Era, a period of social activism and political reform in the United States, lasted
from the 1890s to the 1920s. Progressivism, the term applied to a variety of responses to the
economic and social problems. During the end of the 1800s the U.S. became one of the world s top
industrial producers. The country was moving on to technological advancements, transportation
revolutions, wealth creation, and manufacturing efficiency. The U.S. was putting its dark past with
the Civil War behind and move on but down the road many Americans where left behind. The
amount of poor people in the country grew and as they grew they were creating a new urban
underclass, thrust into slums with little hope of improvement. While the poor people were left
behind industrial titans amassed great fortunes making the gulf between the haves and have nots an
endless chasm. Afterwards the poor started questioning the titans and the ways they made money
exposing corruption in the industries and the government. The people would conduct strikes which
would often end in violence. The U.S. was just starting to get ahead, but... Show more content on

Sacred Space Essay
Sacred space is one of the types of spatial condition being analyzed by Mircea Eliade s religious
journal. It is related to purification and can only be apprehended by a religious person.
According to Eliade, For a religious man, a space is not homogeneous as he experiences
interruption, breaks in it; some parts of space are qualitatively different from others (20). He also
believes that a person in a sacred space will ultimately reach a threshold that personify the frontier
which distinguishes and opposes the two worlds. In this essay, I will compare and contrast the
concept of sacred space in the biography of Maryam Binti Imran and Alice Kingsleigh. Miriam
holds an independently exalted place in Islam as her name is exclusively mentioned... Show more

She was tremendously dejected and withdrew herself from her family to avoid any
embarrassment. It was at a secret place in the East Jerusalem where Maryam seek refuge, that
she witnessed a hierophany, an irruption of the sacred that results in the detaching a territory
from the surrounding cosmic milieu and making it qualitatively different. Allah had sent her
Gabriel (the angel) in the form of a man. This occurrence is critical in Maryam s life because it
allows Maryam to communicate and express her sadness and perplexity to God. Miriam was
informed that she will give birth to a child named Isa (Jesus) and he will be among those who
will be blessed by God. She then underwent the pains of childbirth alone and retuned home
without speaking to anyone. Dissimilarly, Alice s experience of the sacred space reaches the
threshold twice in her life. Immediately after the very first time she crossed the boundary from
the rabbit hole, she was able to distinguish the sheer differences between the two worlds. Just like
the concept of threshold highlighted by Eliade, The spatial non homogeneity finds expression in
the experience of an opposition between space that is sacred the only real and real ly existing
space and all other space, the formless expanse surrounding it (20). Secondly, she succeeded in

Apple s First True Love Essay
Crying
I was told as a child that strong people don t cry. For many years I barely shed a tear. I remember
not crying at my grandfather s funeral because I wanted to be strong.
As I grew older, it became harder and harder to carry so much pain and anxiety inside and I became
weighed down.
Then one day, I could no longer hold it in and while I was alone, I cried. To my amazement, I felt
so much relief and realized, it takes a strong person to cry.
Now, my muscles are growing slowly, and every once in a while, I ll shed a tear. My tearsare
mostly of joy now because I feel free. Every blue moon my tears may be due to sadness and that s
okay.
Either way, crying is relief.
Be patient if you see someone shed a tear, it may not have come easy for them. Apple s First True

listening to your stories because you ve had a rather fascinating life and are an interesting man.
We can t leave out your comedic side, you are Mr. Personality and one of the funniest men I ve

I appreciate your strength and your resolve that you don t quit once you set your mind to
accomplishing something, you work seemingly effortlessly until you achieve your goal.
Thank you for understanding that my silence and lack of not sharing about myself didn t mean I
didn t care but that I trusted you.
Then one day, I came over to hang out with you and I just started sharing myself with you and you
attentively listened. You interjected as needed, but you listened and heard what I said, more
importantly, you understood and I felt safe.
Thank you for listening without judgement. Talking to you wasn t even scary until I realized what
I d shared. But then, I looked into your eyes, and once again, I felt safe.

Islam is one of the leading religions in the middle east region. This religion still bases its country
laws on the Quran. These terms of rules are known as sharia law. The laws in the book include
throwing gays of buildings, forcing women to cover up, and hanging for blasphemy. An excerpt
from the Quran reads I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore, strike
off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them (Quran 8:12) The problem with this is that the
Quran is still followed heavily in the Islam community. This following does not get interpreted
differently, meaning the word of the Quran is absolute. This has led to increase in terrorism
violence in the following years with the mass immigration of Islam refuges. The nytimes.com goes

Australian Aborigines Essay
Australian Aborigines
Australian Aborigines are thought to have the longest continuous cultural history in the world. Yet,
within a hundred years, the near extinction of the Aboriginal culture almost occurred. This single
event, the invasion of the Australian continent by European settlers, changed the lifestyle, the
culture, and the fate of Australian Aborigines. Their entire lives were essentially taken away and
they were forced into a white, European world where the lifestyle change could not have been any
different. Aborigines in Australia today are struggling to deal with a past in which they lost touch
with their culture and now are trying to regain some of that cultural identity.

Australian Aborigines believe that to destroy or damage a sacred site threatens not only the
present inhabitants but also the spiritual inhabitants of the land. Broome described that Each tribe
believed that its boundaries were fixed and validated by the stories about the movements of their
ancestors, and therefore there was no reason to desire or try to possess the country of another
group: it would have seemed meaningless to them since their creation stories only related to their
own piece of territory (14). Australian Aborigines traveled around a land that was a symbolic and
religious world. There were not simply rocks, trees, and watering holes but they were objects and
places that the great ancestors had created and places where they still lived. The Aboriginal culture
stressed continuity over change.
The question of intertribal trading and communication occurring between Aboriginal groups is one
that is not agreed upon by investigators of the culture. Broome described in his book, Aboriginal
Australians, some trading between groups but did not place an emphasis on it. In fact, Broome
seemed to describe a slow response to European presence because of the lack of sufficient
communication between groups (36). However, Reynolds in The Other Side of the

place inside was very beautiful hanging cross the red, yellow and white flower. People were
started to take a picture with their friend and relatives. As I look closer as I could, I saw that they

Color In Rochester High School
Color is a universal, nonverbal language, and we all intuitively know how to speak it, a color
consultant, Leslie Harrington says (Freeman 2.) Color is an everyday part of life for most people.
Everything that we see is in color, from the clothes we put on in the morning, to the stop lights
while driving, and the colors of the walls in our classrooms, bedrooms, kitchens, you name it, color
is in everything. With that, when you walk into Rochester High School, you see the same three
colors over and over again, and it is not only in the high school, but in every school in the district.
Orange, Blue, and beige. It is incredibly boring to see the same three colors every single day
during the school years, for 12 years of our lives, because every school in the district has the same
color scheme. Therefore, we should paint the walls of Rochester High School, and maybe even the
other schools in the district, with a bright yellow color, because it will directly affect the emotions
and attitudes of the students and faculty, and will provide the school with an individual look....

  • 2. The Handmaid s Tale Propaganda The propaganda presented by Gilead is used to create a facade of benevolence and in the hope of masking the reality of their distorted world. The most prominent example being the second news segment which shows a close shot of a prisoner, with a stubbled and dirty face, flanked by two Angels in their neat black uniforms (82). Even within the first image it is clear the rebels are to be thought of as unhygienic whereas the Angels are clean and well put together, representing someone to be proud of. Gilead choses this juxtaposition for two reasons, the first being for viewers to associate a sense of disgust with the prisoners and their lifestyle. The second intention is to further the idea that life within Gilead is much better than the life of the dirty prisoners.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gilead choses this scene assuming that viewers will see the prisoner s acceptance of the cigarette as a show of submission as if the prisoners are being saved from themselves and their way of life. Furthermore, this displays the Angels as kind and generous due to them treating the prisoner as if he was a child who knew no better. This leaves the viewers believing Gilead must be somewhat good if they treat rebels with sympathy despite the atrocious acts they have committed against their citizens. In conclusion, this news segment gives the viewers a false sense of security within their government. Whereas if Gilead had chose to show Angels assassinating prisoners it would advance the idea that Gilead is inhumane and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Mead Hall In Beowulf Essay INTRODUCTION A Lots of great ideas are born and destroyed in a bar or tavern, leaving you to wonder how different our whole outlook and way of life would be if we did all our major planning and decision making there. B This concept is interesting because of how the Anglo Saxon warrior culture in the story Beowulf that was translated by Burton Raffel, actually uses the mead hall as their main political and party house. C Would this be better than what we do today with separating the work from the play? Or was it just a thing of the times. D The Anglo Saxon warrior culture mead hall represents the clearest definition of equality you could ever think of. Under one roof the decisions by the king are told to the people while a giant party for the village is happening. By having this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... F By understanding this concept, the Danes created a system close to ours in how the king will provide protection for the people as they work for him. G And this form of trade off is brought up when Beowulf shows up in the famed mead hall. Hrothgar replied, protector of the Danes: (456). H as Hrothgar is referred to as the protector it shows that he s not just governing the people in from his castle, he s interacting with them. I Without the mead hall to act as a common ground for the people and their king to communicate in Lots of trust and understanding is lost. J Having the great mead hall creates unity also, by bringing the king and his people closer together more of the people s problems become the king s and visa versa. K So when Grendel comes around and starts killing off the people, instead of the king pushing it off he has to deal with it first and foremost. My tongue grows heavy, and my heart, when i try and tell you what Grendel has brought us, the damage he has done, here in this hall ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Nicole Oresme Research Paper Nicole Oresme Abstract Nicole Oresme, also known as Nicolas Oresme, was born around 1320 in the 14th century on the outskirts of the Norman city of Caen. Unfortunately, nothing was known of his family. Oresme was known as one of the most famous scholastic philosophers of the middle age s. He was known for many different subjects including; economics, physics, astrology, astronomy, theology, philosophy, and mathematics. Oresme earned his doctorate of arts from the University of Paris between the years of 1341 1342. In the same year he became grand master of the College of Navarre. He mainly wrote in the language of Latin but also wrote in French [1]. Oresme was appointed canon in 1362 and later in 1364 was made dean of the Cathedral of Rouen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He came about the idea to use rectangular coordinates and geometric figures to explain uniform and non uniform distribution of various quantities. For example, he worked on the change of velocity in relation to time. More importantly, this helped lay a strong foundation that later led to the discovery of analytic geometry by RenГ© Descartes. Oresme used his geometric figures to give the first proof of the Merton theorem, shown in figure 1 below. This theorem states, The distance traveled in any given period by a body moving under uniform acceleration is the same as if the body moved at a uniform speed equal to its speed at the midpoint of the period [2]. Some believe that this resulted in later discoveries of kinematics, affecting the later work of Galileo s. Figure 1 Another mathematical contribution was the development of the first proof of the divergence of the harmonic series. Oresme s proof had less advanced mathematics then the modern proof today. His proof on the harmonic series was not touched on until later centuries, and was only replicated by the Bernoulli brothers [1]. Oresmes proof groups the harmonic terms by taking 2, 4, 8, 16, and so on, after the first two terms, and noting that each block has a sum larger than a ВЅ [3]. Resulting ... • 5. Principles of Physics in Ultrasound Essay Principles of Physics in Ultrasound Physics has become an important part of medicine allowing specialist doctors and radiographers to rapidly access a patient s condition and to help in long term diagnosis. This enables doctor s to treat patients before their condition deteriorates. This procedure would not be possible without the use of X rays, CAT scans, MRI scans, ultrasound and endoscopes, which allow doctors to see inside the body with little or no surgery. Without such equipment doctors would be forced to use invasive techniques, which could cause patients more harm as it increases the risk of infection. A sound or ultrasound wave consists of a mechanical disturbance of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The early work in the 20th century used ultrasound as a therapy tool and it was not until the 1940 s that research began into its use as a diagnostic tool. The use of ultrasound in medicine began during and shortly after the 2nd World War in various centres around the world. (NSC, UK national screening committee) The work of Dr.Karl Theodore Dussik in Austria in 1942 on transmission ultrasound investigation of the brain provided the first published work on medical ultrasonic s. Although other workers in the USA, Japan and Europe have also been cited as pioneers, the work of Professor Ian Donald and his colleagues in Glasgow, in the mid 1950s, did much to facilitate the development of practical technology and applications. This lead to the wider use of ultrasound in medical practice in the subsequent decades. Rapid technological advances in electronics and piezoelectric materials provided further improvements from energy to greyscale images, and from still images to real time moving images. The technical advances at this time led to a rapid growth in the applications to which ultrasound could be put. The development of Doppler ultrasound had been progressing alongside the imaging technology, but the fusing of the two technologies in Duplex scanning and the subsequent development of colour Doppler imaging provided even more scope for investigating the ... Since the 1990 s, Spain has entered the global market to claim its position as a high quality value wine producer (www.winesfromspain.com). Spain s rich wine history together with it s relatively new global market entry and cost leadership strategy makes an interesting blend of old world and new world characteristics. State of the Industry Wine is a significant part of Spain s cultural identity and economy. The sector represents Spain s third largest agriculture crop after cereals and olives, and it leads the world in vineyard land with 1.16 million hectares (www.foodswinesfromspain.com). However, most the land is arid and sparsely planted. Yet, it holds third position globally in wine volume produced (Rubio, 2010). Although Spain has a traditional wine and food culture, domestic consumption continues to decline. The decreased consumption is attributed to strict drunk driving laws impacting restaurant sales and the rise of alternative drinks such as mineral water (Carrion and Albaladejo, 2010). Also, millennials tend to not drink wine. In fact, the characteristic Spanish wine drinker is an older male with a preference for high quality aged DO red wines that drinks at home, an aging demographic. Spain s domestic market consumes 28.2 liters per capita compared to France at 50 liters per capita necessitating an aggressive export strategy (Mtimet and Albisu; Minjares). Exports now ... This statement will be proved by referring to the novel by Eric Maria Remarque, All Quiet on the Western Front, poems from Wilfred Owen, Anthem of the Doomed Youth,, To any dead officer , They as well as Christ and the soldier by Siegfried Sassoon, music lyrics from Roger Whittaker s I Don t Believe In If Anymore, art pieces like Mealtime and Feeling wounded by Otto Dix and Egon Schieles portrait of Reserve Lieutenant Heinrich Wagner and portrait of an Officer. When referring to the above mentioned genres we will be focusing on the dehumanisation, demoralisation and disillusionment of war that leads to the regression of humanity. One of the paramount effects of war on young people is the dehumanization of humanity. Dehumanization is the psychological occurrence of demonizing the enemy or one self, manufacture them to appear less than human and therefore not worthy of humane behaviour (Maiese, 2003). • 9. Architecture As Space By Peter Goldberger Critical Studies 3 2015 Art Gallery Analysis Rohini Contractor 1430251 Architecture as space by Peter Goldberger discusses the significance of the interior space within architecture as it is where the viewer has a true experience. The feeling when entering a building builds a foundation for the viewers expectations and is most influential to their judgement of the space. With a comparison of a person s reaction to a building from the exterior to the interior, Goldberger explains that an exterior is viewed as a whole and seen in a context however the interior will mould the persons experience with choice of lighting, form and space. His discussion of how space can influence the users movement proves that the architect can directly control the user or even through light determine the mood either with natural lighting or use artificial lighting for something that can be controlled . After reading this text I believe there are many different aspects of the interior that play a significant role in creating an experience for anyone that enters the building. I believe it a responsibility of the architect to create a feel appropriate for the space, in the case of art galleries it should be expressive to invite visitors yet not to detract from the artwork itself. Being a commercial space it should also be suited for an audience of all ages while creating a sense of community. However Goldberger focusses mainly on interior being a primary experience and although it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Individualism In Defoe s The Fortunate Mistress The neoclassical time period served to reinvent the notion of how literature was presented within society, working to introduce several crucial concepts that worked to alter individual perception, such as identity, and construct new ways of thinking. One instance of this newfound individualism can be viewed in Defoe s narrative, The Fortunate Mistress, in which a woman recounts her personal experience and transformation from a virtuous woman to a whore in response to unforeseen and unavoidable situations. Critical interpretations of the narrative have neglected to recognize the significance of how Roxana s role in society and actions depict her as an archetype for the early feminist individual On the contrary, the majority of critics tend to make the focal point the end of the novel in order to solidify the argument that the story was abruptly left unfinished and obscure in nature. As Molesworth puts it, a friendship that has thus far been marked by intimacy, candor, and forthrightness lapses into an unfamiliarity marked by timidity and apprehension (Molesworth 495). The tendency to interpret the ending in such a manner has lead to the viewing of Roxana as an unsuccessful individual, who attempted to deny the norms of social behavior, and as a result of this, was unable to overcome the obstacles presented and ultimately failed. Be that as it may, when taking into consideration how Roxana utilizes perception and reflection to analyze her past experiences, using this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Budget Questions With My School Sitting down and discussing budget questions with our school bookkeeper was the most chaotic 45 minutes of my school week. I always thought being the bookkeeper would be a stressful job because of the amount of money you had to deal with and all of the things you had to keep track of it, not because of everyday office chaos. Our bookkeeper does an exceptional job and our principal agrees that she will probably never find someone to replace her, however with all of the other stresses I could understand our bookkeeper leaving. While I was with Mrs. Banks there were people constantly coming by and asking her to do things. Mrs. Banks does not have her own office and people often treat her like a secretary. Mrs. Banks and I discussed how this is one of the main issues with her job. She talked about how much she loved doing the budgeting and financing part of it, but how it was extremely difficult to do this and everything else. While I was there she was trying to write six receipts for faculty members and this took over thirty minutes, something that should take five. Every time she went to open the receipt books someone would come in with a question (student or faculty) and she would have to close the receipt book and put it and the money in her drawer to protect confidentiality. • 13. Environmental Effects Of Acid Rain Acid rain, simply put, is a mixture of rainwater and a few specific chemicals that are emitted both naturally and non naturally. The process occurs in the lowest layer of the atmosphere, the troposphere. When compounds such as sulfuric dioxide(SO2) and nitrogen oxides(NO, NO2), are transported to this layer and react with the other parts of the troposphere(water, oxygen, carbon dioxide). Acid rain was first discovered in Sweden in 1872, but has been seen as a more prevalent problem in modern times. Although research had been conducted for many years on acid rain, it did not become an issue for society until around the 1980 s. Acid rain s effects were vast, harming natural environments, architecture, and even the public s health. Regulation of chemical emissions have lessened the threat of acid rain, yet it remains a problem to this day. A As previously mentioned, acid rain is caused by the mixture of chemical emissions with the elements of the troposphere. It s very important to note that water has a natural acidity, it s the excess of oxides that cause the problem. But how did those emissions and oxides make it there? Naturally, compounds like carbon dioxide(CO2), nitric oxide(NO), and sulfur dioxide(SO2), are released through just a few processes: decomposition of organic matter, electric discharge(reactions with lightning and the ozone), as well as release of gasses in volcanic eruptions. However, these only contribute to the natural acidity of water. Human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Quentin told the character, Worth, that his job was to be a baby sitter and look after Kazan. Using the term baby sitter in reference to Kazan, who is an adult, further adds to his juvenilization. No other character needed a baby sitter, which shows that they do not view him as being equal to them. Two to three hundred infants are allergic to cow s milk, and BLG allergies are seemingly a large part of this. Various organizations are trying to investigate ways to manipulate the genetic material in the modified dairy cattle with the main goal of producing milk that doesn t contain the lethal BLG protein. Daisy is a genetically modified cloned cow and whom does not produce milk containing the BLG protein but does however have the genefor it. But the mRNA for the BLG protein has become nonfunctional. Once the protein has been manipulated the cow containing the modified gene is cloned to produce a calf with the same genetic material. This cloned cow will then not produce the protein. This technique is very useful to produce a herd without the protein to gather more milk. Because of this protein produced (BLG) this causes a lot of people and infants to become very sick and ill. Therefore by creating a herd of cows using the processes of Gene Knockdown and Cloning this would not only cut out the lethal protein of BLG, but this will also create cows that don t possess the BLG protein and therefore creating healthy milk for all to drink. • 33. My Family Vacation A vacation is meant to be a time for serenity and relaxation. In my case it was the complete opposite, but it changed me for the better. Five years ago a family vacation to Jamaica changed the way I saw everything and made me appreciate the people I love and where I come from. It all started with the worst airplane ride. About thirty minutes into the ride the flight attendant started going around offering snacks. These purple potato chips caught my eye so that s what I decided to get. I should have known something so bright couldn t have been good to eat. I instantly regretted eating the chip after taking a bite out of that awfully weird tasting potato chip because immediately after, I felt a striking pain in my lower abdomen. I tried to relieve the pain by loosening the seat belt buckle. I drank gingerale, tried to position myself differently to feel less discomfort but nothing helped. My brother was too busy on his I pad to care, my other brother was too young to formulate proper sentences and my mom was too far gone in her sleep, she couldn t have been any help fresh out of slumber. I just rocked back and forth releasing oohs and ah s here and there because the pain was intolerable. I kept on for the remaining three hour flight weeping and wincing, trying to keep quiet so I wouldn t disturb anyone. Landing in Jamaica was supposed to be exciting, but how could I be excited when I was in pain. My mom, two younger brothers and I were waiting for my uncle to arrive and take us to his house, so I took this opportunity to tell my mom what was going on. She believed that it might just be cramps so she buys me two bottles of ginger beerwhich is like the ginger aleof Jamaica, So I drank and I drank and I drank but nothing happened. My uncle finally arrived after 15 minutes of chugging down the ginger beer. We were settling in my uncle s house and my mom tried everything she could to make me feel better. She made tea, gave me more ginger beer, and a hot pack for my stomach but nothing worked. After my mom and uncle tried everything they could think of they finally came to the conclusion that it was time to bring me to the doctor. • 35. Medical Influences In Purchasing Decisions COLLABORATORS In an effort to reduce healthcare costs, the landscape of delivering healthcare is shifting. The medical device/equipment procurement process is shifting its emphasis, as procurement officers at caregiving locations are given more power and influence in purchasing decisions. The responsibility of controlling costs in healthcare is no longer lies solely with procurement officers but has been increasingly extended to physicians. In 2015, 80 percent of physicians said they have personal responsibility to control costs (compared to just 38 percent in 2005). Only 20 percent of physicians in the same study said they have complete discretion over the purchasing decisions of medical devices. This newfound focus on cost for physicians is the result of physicians moving to management led organizations instead of physician led organizations. While the influence in purchasing decisions has been shifting, both parties do agree that quality and clinical evidence are the most important criteria in procurement of medical supplies. Where the two parties differed was the importance of price. The current landscape of medical equipment purchasing shows consolidation on both ends of the transaction: distributors are joining forces with each other and buying groups are consolidating to create Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs). The goal of consolidation is to create cost savings and efficiencies through economies of scale. These GPOs typically facilitate purchasing for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He begins by asking the age old question: Who made thee? This initiates the thought process in the reader, causing the reader to begin to ponder this same question, even if he or she is not conscious of it. He continues to describe all of the many blessing and provisions the lamb has. This again causes the reader to look introspectively at his or her own blessings and provisions. He then answers the question by using God s own words to describe Himself, drawing the parallel between the creator and the created. Mr. Blake explains how God both became a child, and calls Himself a Lamb, relaying the truth to his audience that God reveals Himself to His creation through His

In data output, 144 samples per frame are used, and data rate is 36 Mbps. Figure 4.2: Data Source 4.2.2 Forward Error Correction Coding A typical problem in OFDM based systems is a high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). The available RF power amplifiers usually have a limited linear dynamic range. This is not a problem for constant amplitude signals, however, in OFDM, due to IFFT operation, some of the sub carriers add constructively to large amplitudes while others add destructively. The amplitude of the signals thus varies randomly and for large amplitude signals, non linear amplifications cause errors. Therefore, error correction codes are employed. In HiperLan2, the data is coded with a convolutional encoder of rate 1/2. The convolutional encoder uses the industry standard generator polynomials, g0 = 1338 and g1 = 1718, and is shown in Figure 4.3. The bit denoted as A is the first output from the encoder while the bit denoted B is the second one. Higher code rates are derived via puncturing. It is related to purification and can only be apprehended by a religious person. He also believes that a person in a sacred space will ultimately reach a threshold that personify the frontier which distinguishes and opposes the two worlds. Allah had sent her Gabriel (the angel) in the form of a man. This occurrence is critical in Maryam s life because it allows Maryam to communicate and express her sadness and perplexity to God. Miriam was informed that she will give birth to a child named Isa (Jesus) and he will be among those who will be blessed by God. She then underwent the pains of childbirth alone and retuned home without speaking to anyone. Dissimilarly, Alice s experience of the sacred space reaches the threshold twice in her life.
