On January 1, 2016, the Institute of Contemporary History in Munich announced that it would
publish a new edition of Adolf Hitler s Mein Kampf after the expiry of the maximum copyright
duration. This decision from the institute caught many people by surprise, considering that the
largely anti Semitic book was banned after the Second World War (BBC). Ironically, many scholars
welcomed this move, stating that it could help humanity understand the intricacies of the Nazi
regime. Some Jewish groups reacted in the same manner, auguring that it would shed more light on
the Holocaust. However, despite the existence of several copies of the book, government officials

Pico, 457 U.S. 853 (also called The Island Trees Union Free School District vs. Pico). In this case,
the Court had to rule whether the decision of the Board of Education at the Island Trees Union Free
School District had acted in violation of the Constitution by censoring some books they considered
inappropriate. They disputed eleven publications that were considered offensive for having content
the school named anti Semitic, anti Christian, anti American, and filthy (Legal Information
Institute). In his ruling, Justice Brennan stated that students had the right to read whatever they
wanted because joining a school did not amount to a legal curtailment of their constitutional rights.
Justice Blackmun concurred with Brennan s sentiments stating that it would be a curtailment of the
First Amendment if school administrators were allowed to pull off books from libraries simply
because they were opposed to the ideas in them.
Some of the more recent publications that are censored in the United States include Dav Pilkey s
Captain Underpants, Looking for Alaska by John Green, The Bluest Eyes by Toni Morrison, and
E. L. James s now famous Fifty Shades of Grey. Most of these books are under censorship due to
the moral implications of their content. It seems that any book that contains explicit sexual

circulation. With regards to education, the popular view among

3. La Raza Unida Party And Brown Beret Recruitment Literature
Throughout the 20th century, Los Angeles emerged as a place of multiculturalist struggles. One of
these struggles, was that of the Mexican population, which is what the book Mi Raza Primero
focuses on. In Mi Raza Primero by Ernesto Chavez, Chavez successfully argues how the collapse of
the Chicano movement resulted from the failure to identify the multi faceted and dynamic
/heterogeneous nature of the ethnic Mexican community. He argues how this failure resulted in a
movement that shared a strong sense of cultural nationalism, yet differed in tactics and goals.
Chavez uses the examination of La Raza Unida Partyand Brown Beret recruitment literature to help
support his argument. Specifically, Chavez focuses on the voting data from the late... Show more

The Brown Berets clearly recruited a specific person, thus being unable to assemble a wide array of
people from the Chicano population to reach significant reform. On top of the failure of identity
in the Chicano movement, the movement did not have much political success. La Raza Unida
Party was a party that formed as a response to the violence of Chicano activist demonstrations,
deciding that to achieve reform, peaceful actions were necessary. Activists in this party agreed on
the need for Chicano political activism but had a tough time agreeing on how to achieve it.
Multiple conferences called within Southern California chapters resulted in no clear unification or
coordination. Even though the common goal to get a single member of the Chicano movement in
elected office was shared, the lack of a clear position on what the party wanted to achieve and the
strategy for achieving it led to major contradictions. Chavez states, the only common feature
among party chapters was a commitment to vote Chicanos into office. The lack of organization
and common agendas led to disagreements between branches; for example the Texas LRUP to
break off from the California LRUP, as Chavez mentions. The LRUP never succeeded in its

Threats
Some threats can adversely affect the business of Sears Holdings Corporation. The most prominent
risk faced by Sears Holding Corporation is the competition among the local, national and
international retail companies. Top three competitors of the group are J.C Penney Corporation
Inc., Target Corporation and Wal Mart Stores Inc. (Hoovers, 2011). The retail business is a cut
throat competition. The market players have a multitude of companies across various states and
around the globe. Moreover, many companies are merging and becoming large entities. If any
merger of the magnitude equal to Sears can have an impact on the market position and share of
the Sears Holdings Corporation Sear s revenue growth will likely be affected. The housing market
crisis, as well as the increased food and utility prices, change the buying power of the people by
leaving the consumers with less disposable income. At that point, the lowest pay permitted by law
rate set by the US government has expanded the work expenses of the organizations worked in the
United States which has, thus, developed their costs of operating together in the business sectors

within budget constraints. After developing a good resource requirements list, project managers
and their software development teams must develop several estimates of the costs for these

A large percentage of the total software development project costs are often labor costs. Many
organizations estimate the number of people or hours they need by department or skill over the life
cycle of a software development project. Developing a good cost estimate is difficult. There are
several tools and techniques available to assist in creating them. Four of the commonly used tools
and techniques are analogous cost estimating, bottom up estimating, parametric modeling, and
using computerized tools. Analogous estimates are sometimes referred to as top down estimates.
Analogous estimates use the actual cost of a previous, similar software development project as the
basis for estimating the cost of the current software development project. This technique requires a
fair amount of expert judgment and is less costly than the other methods. However, this method is
also less accurate. Analogous estimates are most reliable when previous software development
projects are similar in fact, not just in appearance. Groups preparing cost estimates must have the
necessary expertise to determine whether certain parts of the software development project will be
more or less expensive than analogous projects. If the software development project to be estimated
involves a new programming language, or working with a new type of computer hardware or
network, the analogous estimate technique may result in too low of an estimate. Bottom up

Colombia is a country that is characterized not only by its natural diversity, but also for its natural

are: drug trafficking, corruption and the lack of education. Colombian culture is formed from the
inheritance of the Colombian natives peoples present in the territory since ancient times, the
Spanish traditions adopted during the colonial period and the African Customs incorporated by the
slaves that led the conquistadors. This mixture of cultures constitutes a society with traits common
to the rest of Latin American countries, but at the same time, very different also. Indeed, even
within Colombias own territory there are many differences between regions and others. Geographic
diversity can be found from tropical beaches to mountains of more than 5,000 meters in height with
perpetual snows and the natural isolation of some areas has led to this diversity. Some of the most

Autism is a complex disability, as the way it manifests in each child differs in severity across
numerous characteristics. Children diagnosed with autism qualify to receive special services and a
free, appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment under the federal legislation,
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (Hunt Marshall, 2012, p. 15). Autismwas added to IDEA
in 1990 as a new disability category. The legislation defines autism as a developmental disability
significantly affecting verbal and nonverbal communication and social interaction, generally
evident before age 3 that adversely affects a child s educational performance (Hunt Marshall, 2012,
p. 301). The Rules for the Provision of Special Education from the State Superintendent of Public
Instruction of Washington state also outlines eligibility and individualized education programs for
children diagnosed with autism (Rules for the Provision of Special Education, p. 11 46).
Furthermore, the DSM diagnoses autism when a child shows qualitative impairments in social
interaction, communication, and restricted repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behavior, interests
and activities (Hunt Marshall, 2012, p. 302).
In 2011, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention found that on average, 1 in 10 children

In any story or piece of literature, there will always be the main characters to fill the pages with
incessant adventure. The characters whose names appear on almost every page and the characters
whose actions the story revolves around. However, a story will also always have its minor
characters. These are the characters that contribute heavily to the plot, yet aren t mentioned quite as
often and are underestimated regarding their importance in the story. In the Greek masterpiece,
Antigone, the author Sophocles construed a myriad of minor characters that contributed to the story
in numerous ways.

However, Antigone is portrayed as gaunt, washed out, and unattractive. With such antagonism
between the sisters, Sophocles presents drama by developing another form of rivalry and another
reason for Antigone to rebel against the law.
At the end of the story when Antigone was listening to her punishment for burying Polynices,
Ismene speaks up and attempts to be held responsible for the crime. She pleads with Antigone to
let her die alongside her, however, Antigone did not want her sister to take any blame in something
she had nothing to do with, so she disregarded her sister s pleas. Sophocles included this situation
because it was another disagreement between the sisters and added more controversy to the plot.
Sophocles included the rivalry between the personalities because it gave each character something
to act off of. Ismene s role was important to the plot because she played the vigilant girl and
provided the story with drama and second guessing by having contradictory opinions.
Secondly, another character that affected the story with such a minor part was Haemon. Haemon,
being the king s son, had a lot of expectations and generalizations to live up to, but he dispersed
them when he stood up to his father.
One thing Haemon did that influenced the plot was to rebut his father s opinions. Prior to
conversing with Creon, Haemon had a positive outlook about his father. He felt he was a good
ruler and was fair, yet those beliefs were

Transformational Opportunities Exist to Integrate the United States Mental Health System Mental
illness refers to all diagnosable mental disorders defined as health conditions that are characterized
by alterations in thinking, mood or behavior (or some combination thereof) associated with distress
and/or impaired functioning. (Williams Torrens, 2008, p. 221) With one in every five American
adults experiencing mental illness, the resulting economic burden exceeds $300 billion per year to
include approximately $100 billion in direct health care expenditures, $24 billion in disability
benefits, and $193 billion in lost earnings. (Insel, 2008) This estimate is conservative as it excludes
the components of incarceration, homelessness, comorbid conditions, early mortality and the
incalculable costs to families that absorb much of the financial and emotional burdens of these
illnesses. Despite the fact mental illness contributes over 6% to the nation s health care spending;
the United States (U.S.) mental health system has historically lacked integration with physical
medicine and public policy support. (Insel, 2008) The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
(ACA), though not a panacea, has provided an opportunity to bolster a broken mental health
system. The ACA includes a variety of provisions to effect the biggest expansion of mental health
and substance abuse services in a generation. (Golden Vail, 2014, p. 96) The expansion of health

REAL MADRID CASE STUDY
Summary
Real Madrid is one of the most storied sports franchises in the world. It is one of the few sports
teams with international appeal to a very broad fan base. This case delves into how Real Madrid
transitioned from a good soccer team with a winning history into the global sports juggernaut we
know today.
We first examined Real Madrids revenue streams and found that from their inception through the
1970s their business model was based almost entirely on their ticket sales. After the 1970s up until
2003 they had some media rights, a small merchandising department, and some other negligible
streams of income. It was in 2003 that team President Florintino Perez decided to make Real Madrid

Execution of each stage allowed Real Madrid to take in revenue through several streams such as
match day and international competition, marketing(merchandise sold at the clubs web site and
stores, sponsorships, fan cards, etc. ), broadcast and pay tv revenue (Exhibit 1).
The club further evolved to identify 4 brand drivers that Perez stated would nurture and project the
Real Madrid brand worldwide. The first was the size of the audience, secondly the frequency in
which the audience engaged with the brand, thirdly, the socio demographic characteristics of the
audience and lastly, bridges that could be built to link the brand and the audience. Each of these
changes reflected the clubs transition to a global brand with marketing capability.
Growth opportunities for Real Madrid existed in both new and existing markets. With content seen
as the product, opportunities to provide new content to current markets were available through
pay tv and new technologies like movies, video games and use of the Real Madrid website. The
website could also be used to for additional merchandising as well. For new markets, winning on
the field was translated to good content and provided Real Madrid with an advantage over other
clubs in the battle to recruit new fans from international markets.
The greatest risk to Real Madrid s revenue streams was the prospect of losing on the field. Ideally,

by analyzing Will Smith s personal life it is clear to see that he puts the priorities of others
before his needs. He obeys to the social norms and in my opinion has no representation of an ID
Factor. A perfect example of this is looking at his life with his children. Will Smith puts the
needs of his family before himself. Thus in this one particular time when he was on tour he had
opportunities to be unfaithful to his family however he decided that it was not logical two act on

15. Deck The Halls Analysis
Everyone loves the advent of December because it means holiday season, considered to be the
best time of the year for most people. All of the decorations, food, experiences with friends and
family, and especially all of the songs make the time of year different from all the others. One of
the well known Christmassongs since it was written in 1862 by a Welsh composer named Thomas
Oliphant is Deck the Halls . Many variations were created by all different people, Alex G and
Tiffany Alvord s version of Deck the Halls was created in 2014 by a recent duet signed by many
record labels such as Tate MusicGroup and Mud Hut. Although Oliphant s version and Alex G and
Tiffany Alvord s cover version share the same lyrics, they both vary in their tone and instruments
used; therefore, due to the uplifting nature and happy mood evoked, the [best song to listen to this

have harsh, loud sounding instruments. This version mainly contains a very subtle trumpet and

happy vibe that comes from the cover, reflects on the instrumental use. The song has a steady,
dominant bass guitar strum, with bells and an electric piano also helping to maintain a
consistent beat. Before the lines Fast away the old year passes, Fa la la la la la la la! Hail the

16. Pretty in Pink Essay
Pretty in Pink В– Summary
Pretty in Pink is essentially a love story about a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, the rich
high school hunk who has his eye on her, and the peer pressure that threatens their budding
romance. Molly Ringwald plays the character of Andie Walsh, an unpopular poor girl living in the
shabbier side of town. Andrew McCarthy portrays the role of Blane McDonnagh, a wealthy
heartthrob who asks her out to the prom. As their romance evolves, both characters struggle with
increasing pressure from their peers whom are unsupportive of the relationship mostly because of
the difference in social class. This, however, doesn t necessarily hold true for two of the characters

It is a pretty classic high school fight with teachers running out of their classrooms to intervene.
I don t think this scene does have a big modeling effect because unfortunately the kind of
violence nowadays has escalated to a whole different dimension. Long gone are the days where
two kids fought it out one on one with only their hands as weapons. Gangs, knives, bats, guns, or
some other kind of weapon play center stage in most of the altercations today. There is a level of
underlying aggression in this movie, almost like a pressure cooker slowly building until
someone blows. Steff as the bad guy is aggressive in nature, verbally harassing anyone he deems
below him or in Andie s case, anyone who has the gall to say no to him. He is really setting the
stage for Duckie s (good guy) moment of aggression, when exasperated and fed up with the entire
situation, he physically attacks Steff. I think Duckie has just about had it, and although most
blows are obviously in defense of Andie, I think he snuck in a couple for himself (unpopular teen)
too! I would say the justification for this moment of violence comes from the fact that this is
probably years in the making. These teens are seniors in high school, and I m sure anyone would
blow their lid after what was most certainly fours years of bullying. When Duckie glares Steff
down in the hallway, he seems angry but also apprehensive of acting upon his feelings until a cocky

17. Michelle Obama Embodies The American Dream
In order to better society, the world constantly needs people to advocate for their beliefs. The idea
of the American Dream encompasses not only hard work to achieve success, but also the
obligation of people to extend their potentials to better the world. To live the American Dream
means that one constantly puts forth energy to make a bettersociety. Michelle Obamaembodies the
American Dream in that she works hard for her success, and uses her success to advocate for the
needs of others. The platform of knowledge and understanding of society that Michelle Obama
has created for herself enables her to become the ideal image of the American Dream. The
possibilities are endless once one has access to education, and Obama not only uses her hard
earned education to better her own life, but works to inspire the world to make education more
readily available for others. Obama uses the means given to her and utilizes her own experiences
to improve the lives of others. The true definition of the American Dream is perfectly
encompassed by Michelle Obama, in that it is greater than oneself and how advocating and
bettering society is the only way to achieve both internal and external success. The mindset of hard
work and determination that Obama had set early on in her life is what makes her success... Show

18. Hobbit Evidence
Evidence on Whether Hobbits Are Different Species
Alien from Earth is a documentary film on an anthropological study reviewing the existence of a
new human species. The evidence in the film suggests that the Hobbit is a completely different
creature rather than the microcephalic Homo Sapiens. Firstly, the body structure varies
considerably. The size of the recovered skeleton reveals that the Homo Floresiensis is equivalent to
a three year old modern human measuring about three foot (Luar). Secondly, the brain size is
small than Homo Sapiens s one at about 400cc compared to modern being s 1500cc (Luar).
Considering the standard evolution theory of Australopithecus, Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, and
Homo Sapiens, the brain size has more than tripled, and the Hobbits brain does not fit in the linear
progression timescale. Thirdly, the location indicates that no pre modern human being could have
traveled to the island (Luar). However, some scholars argue that the remains belong to a human
deformed by a disease. The argument is weak since twelve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Considering supporting evidence, the stone tools were found next to the Hobbit s bones and
alongside charcoal and remnants of pygmy elephants (Luar). Archeological evidence indicates a
relationship between the items found and the rational thinking would assume that hominids created
the tools to hunt animals for consumption. Moreover, humans only started long distance sailing 12
000 years ago, yet the stone tools date 750 000 years ago, thereby suggesting they were made on
the island (Luar). Lastly, the critics counter argument is that Hobbit s brain was excessively small
to make such tools. According to my beliefs, this assessment can be refuted on the basis that brain
size alone may not be an indication of intelligence. Hence, scientific evidence available strongly
supports the reasoning that Hobbits made tools and used them for

McQueen, describes two lovers that are located on opposite sides of the world. McQueen uses the
title to emphasize the conflicts. The speaker s emotions are expressed through two main themes;
love and distance. Imagery and diction maximize the emotions associated with these themes.
Additionally, she uses many literary devices throughout the poem for effect. From the onset, the

scene for two different sides of love. In this case, love is not presented as joyful and precarious but

There is no iambic pentameter or rhyming pattern. This style gives a conversational, intimate
tone; as if the reader is eavesdropping in on the two lovers. Secondly, this informal tone is
contrasted by the formal and decisive shape of the poem. Furthermore, it is evident by the
physical appearance of the poem that that a conflict of the settings exists, I watch often not
traffic or television but hour by hour the huge tide . The speaker compares two different
lifestyles; one of the speaker situated on a coast; soothing, relaxing and simple. Meanwhile her
lover is located in a city; loud, tense and complex. The physical divide in the poem presents the
conflict in the settings inferring the conflict in the relationship. This conflict is reflected by the
change in tone from stanza 1 to stanza 2. The first stanza is full of facts as she sadly describes
her reality while the second stanza is full of emotions and hope expressing the metaphysical
situation the lovers would be in if united. If you were with me now underlines the ambiguity of
when now will come. As the author guides the reader through the relationship, she dreams of the
setting and activities giving hope that the lovers would do such things once together. An
interesting simile is used if and when the speaker s lover comes back to her favorite beach . This
symbolizes home, the nest; the beach represents for the speaker a place of nurturing, peace, safety

Let s examine Naturalistic observation first. To start, what is naturalistic observation? This term is
defined as the inconspicuous (as much as possible) observation of an individual/group in their
natural (unaltered) environment. The benefit of this (in theory) is that we can view the natural
state and behaviors of a person. The downside is that people always alter their behavior when they

independence. However, it utilizes terror and violent intimidation to undermine existing

35. Christopher Gonzalez
I admire the simple, humble heart of people, showing as they care about others, not trying to
impress anyone or be the center of attention. Especially for its ability to respect others. When I
admire someone, I do it by looking at many things, but never at his physical appearance or
economic status. In order to admire someone, that personhas to have qualities that money cannot
buy. Many people loop at the physical appearance, the way we dress, and the material things this
person possesses or gives. To me it should not be that way.
Although this person has been through a lot in his life, he has never lost hope and desire to move
forward. He does not give up easily, but continues with his modesty and good heart. I had the
opportunity to meet him a year ago by the social network, Instagram. Although we are not together
physically, we communicate daily either by phone, video, call or text. The person who has earned
my admiration is Christopher Gonzalez. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

36. Ego Theory and Bundle Theory Essay
Intro to Philosophy
Ego Theory and Bundle Theory Derek Parfit s views on personal identity and the Ego and Bundle
Theory are all summarized in his article Divided Minds and the Nature of Persons . In his article,
Parfit explains the distinction between Ego theory and Bundle theory and provides several
arguments against Ego Theory. Although it proves to be very difficult to believe the Bundle
Theory, Parfit s critique is convincing and well thought out. In order to defend the Bundle Theory
of personal identity Parfit begins to describe it and differentiates it from Ego Theory. Parfit states
that there are two theories about what persons are or what a person s personal identity really is.
According to Ego Theory, each person has an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parfit asks if that copy is still you or has the real you actually died? He then asks; what if only
1% of your cells were replaced? Many would say if only 1% were replaced, the person would
still be you but at what percentage of cells is the new being no longer you? Parfit argues that the
question is irrelevant and that these are not here two different possibilities, one of which must be
true. These are merely two different descriptions of the very same course of events. To further
support the bundle theory, Parfit references split brain cases. A split brain case is what happens
when the corpus callosum connecting the two hemispheres of the brain is severed to some degree
in order to treat severe epilepsy. A person with a split brain shows to have two separate streams
of consciousness. Ego Theory would argue that there are two separate egos but only one person.
When separating ego from person does Ego Theory still hold valid? Parfit and the Bundle Theory
state that this is an example of a different awareness of events occurring at the same time, not
different egos. According to Parfit there is no person involved. Parfit s distinction between Ego
theory and Bundle Theory and his arguments against Ego theory are convincing. He uses many
example to help support his claim. Both his thought experiment and the split brain cases support the
idea of bundle theory and disprove the more common Ego

According to a Annual Report to Congress on Foreign Economic Collection and Industrial
Espionage (2008), a wide variety of foreign entities have attempted to illegally acquire trade
secrets and US technology a problem attributed to outsourcing research and development. Most
companies in the United States have been encouraging outsourcing research and development as
a means improving themselves in terms of products being universally usable. This has led such
companies setting up bases in foreign countries where such research is carried out. These bases
have well been used as a gateway for economical espionage since foreign entities can easily
access such bases and access information on the said companies or U.S in general. This may be
through employees in such bases, spies or even hacking information systems that are connected the
ones in the U.S. Acquisition of information and technology from such companies has well been
used to either disable operations of such bases or setting up rival companies. It is worth noting that
espionage from such bases is hard trace or quantify. This is because the jurisdiction of such states
cannot be influenced or forced to take measures of such activities due to the nation s sovereignty.
Legal cases in such incidents are left pending for fear of bad international relations and
investigations are hardly finished. Economic espionage in

In 1966, this is what the Time magazine published. Remote shopping, while entirely feasible, will
flop because women like to get out of the house, like to handle merchandise, like to be able to

s not remote shopping that will flop, but the magazine itself. Such has been the intertwining of
business and technology that one cannot survive without the other. It s no wonder that tech savvy

technology is inevitable. The future would witness a business battle between the human mind and

40. Examples Of Low Angle Angles
An example of a low angle shot in the movie can be seen at the start of the movie where it shows
the city buildings at a low angle. This shows how big and wide the city is. It amplifies the interest
of the audience to see the things that takes place in those areas.
The high angle is a shot where the camera is at a high angle and it shows how the character is
looking to the camera. It is commonly used so that it can show the character s vulnerability and
can also show how weak the characters is as it shows that of something that is looked down upon,
leading to the feeling of being subservient, which shows the audience one of the few cases where a
character looks weak. In the movie Beastly there are no high angle shots as the movie only shows

In Ancient Greece, bankruptcy did not exist. If a man owed and he could not pay, he and his
wife, children or servants were forced into debt slavery , until the creditor recouped losses via their
physical labour. Many city states in ancient Greece limited debt slavery to a period of five years
and debtslaves had protection of life and limb, which regular slaves did not enjoy. However,
servants of the debtorcould be retained beyond that deadline by the creditor and were often forced
to serve their new lord for a lifetime, usually under significantly harsher conditions.

The Joint Stock Companies Act 1844[9] allowed people to create companies without permission
through a royal charter. Companies had separate legal personality , the ability to sue and be
sued, and served as an easy mechanism for raising capital through the purchase of shares (an
equitable title) in the company s capital. The Act s corollary, to bring the existence of these legal
persons to an end was the Joint Stock Companies Winding Up Act 1844. The Limited Liability
Act 1855 produced a further innovation. Before, if a corporation had gone broke, the people that
lent it money (creditors) could sue all the shareholders to pay off the company s debts. But the
1855 Act said that shareholders liability would be limited to the amount they had paid in their
shares. So if you had invested ВЈ100 in a company, but now the company owed millions of pounds,
the creditors could not come after you for the debts. You would lose ВЈ100 and no more. Your
liability to pay debts was limited to the value of your shares. The Joint Stock Companies Act 1856
consolidated the companies legislation in one, and the modern law of corporate insolvency was
born. Finally, the Bankruptcy Act 1869 was passed allowing all people, rather than just traders to
file for bankruptcy.

42. The Importance Of Belissa s Speech To Transcending
Fear is inevitable , I have to accept that, but I cannot allow it to paralyze me . How should you
conquer fear? You should conquer fear by facing it face straight on. For example , entering into
high school as a freshman was the greatest fear because of the new system, new school, new
people, and new teachers. Then, how I faced it , was by just simply talking and asking questions
and getting put under pressure because later you would feel happy and very comfortable about
yourself. Conquering fear leads you to transform or to transcend. You might be wondering what is
transforming or transcending? Well , transforming is a major changein the person or something

43. Socrates Definition Of Justice Essay
Justice
What is justice? This is a question that men have struggled with answering for centuries. Justice
should be defined for the sake of all people, especially by rulers who attempt to make fair laws so
that their society functions in an orderly fashion. In Book 1 of The Republic, Plato attempts to
define exactly what justice is. To help determine this definition, he speaks through the philosopher
protagonist of Socrates. Justice is first brought up in The Republic during Socrates trip to Piraeus.
While traveling Socrates ends up gathering with his interlocutors and together, they talk about
justice and how one would define it. Socrates debates with the men about the definition of justice
and is presented with a definition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Republic presents two very different views of justice as argued by two skilled thinkers. The
beginning of the discussion starts off with Thrasymachus explaining what exactly he believes
justice is; justice is nothing other than the advantage of the stronger. (338c) Although
Thrasymachus definition is clear, Socrates attempts to spite him by using a wild comparison, by
saying If Polydamamas, the pancratiast, is stronger than we are and beef is advantageous for his
body, then this food is also advantageous and just for us who are weaker than he is. (338c) This
statement from Socrates disgusts Thrasymachus because Thrasymachus was simply referring to
stronger in the sense of being a ruler, not strong in the sense of being physically larger. To counter
Socrates, Thrasymachus explains how different societies are ruled throughout the world whether it
be tyrannically, democratically, or otherwise, and how the rulers, those who are strongest, are the
ones who make the laws and they do so to their advantage. Thrasymachus establishes this by saying
how, A democracysets down democratic laws; a tyranny, tyrannic laws; and the others do the
same. (338e) It is clear from this line of reasoning that Thrasymachus has a solid position that
justice is, rightly or wrongly, the enforcement of the rule of law as dictated by the strong leaders
that make the law.

44. A Space For Rent By Airlines Essay
An airport, in simplified terms can really be considered as a space for rent by airlines. The job of
the airport is to provide the necessary amenities to the airlines, the passengers of the airlines and the
necessary capacity to do so. In most cities the population and tourism industry is likely the
determinant as to how big the airportis. Often with the bigger, busier and higher profile airports
(i.e. Dubai, Sydney, JFK) the charges are more for the use of their terminals, taxiways, runways etc.
It should be taken under consideration that there are many factors related to why there might be
such a sizeable difference between different airports and the associated fees. One such example
is an airport with current, or future plans of expansion. Often when an airport is expanding (i.e.
building new terminals, or extending runways etc.) fees such as landing fees, or gate charges
will increase. An example of this is Christchurch International airport, which has seen a steady
increase in charges since 2012, when the new terminal development began, and since then the
airport had continued to expand, including further gate additions, runway width expansions and
greater parking capabilities. For a Jet aircraft departure, a fixed fee of $150 was in place in 2012,
that number has since increased to $163 in 2016. Other fees that have also steadily increased
every year include, the terminal services charge, airfield services charge, passenger services
charge, check in desk charges and

45. The Value Of A Migrant Worker Essay
A.)Social Location / pg.3: The group memberships that people have because of their location in
history and society
In The Harvest, it was interesting how the entire make up of the families was based on being a
migrant worker. Every person in the family seemed to already know what their role was going to
be as a child, there role in society was already pre mapped out for them. The goal as a family was to
have everyone in the United States working together in the fields. The families followed a yearly
routine, following the harvesting of different crops around the country. Their travels, their
homes, their income, their education, their social life, their human survival all based on the
harvesting of the different crops. The views of the world and the individual s role in life and
society is very limited. The one little girl actually said she wasn t sure that she had a dream.
That she had goals in life, but she wasn t really sure of an actual dream. Me coming from and
growing up in the working middle class, my role as a child was to play and receive an education. I
knew on some sort of level that my responsibility was going to school, have friends and a social
life, and hopefully work and progress in my field of studies. Making a comfortable living and
having hopes of an increase of salary. The migrant workers in this video have very different
dynamics. There was a large responsibility placed on the young children not even old enough to

46. Essay On Extracurricular Activities
Extracurriculars Lead to Extra Success
Noah, an experienced employee, received a manager position at a big construction company
after 24 years of working his way up the employment ladder. After receiving the position, he
faced many issues such as confrontations with co workers and issues with job production. As he
faced these issues, Noah was able to look back at his many years of wrestling, and remember
how he handled confrontations with teammates as well as handling the agony of defeat. Having
gone through these similar experiences, Noah was able to handle his work issues with confidence.
This is an example of how important extracurricular activities can be in a person s life. In order to
completely prepare for real life situations, children should participate in some form of
extracurricular activity. In addition to preparing children for real life situations, extracurricular
activities are the best way to improve students participation academically. The following statistic
serves as an example. The probability that the typical person in the sample would drop out of
school is .0487, but if this same person participated in athletics, the estimated probability would be
.0299. (Holloway) When students participate in extracurriculars, they are often forced to talk to
others and form relationships with people. These relationships will most likely improve academic
participation because the kids will feel more comfortable going to school with someone they know.
The more comfortable a student feels during school, the more likely they are to put in more work
academically and ultimately be more successful. Along with feeling more confident, extracurricular
activities keep kids from getting in trouble. Kids are less likely to be doing something they shouldn
t if they focus on something like an extracurricular activity. Holloway also writes: Recent research
suggests that participation in extracurricular activities may increase students sense of engagement
or attachment to their school, and thereby decrease the likelihood of school failure and dropping
out . School pride is something that is promoted throughout all of adolescence. Those students that
feel more involved in their school, are less likely to drop out

In general, caves are very sensitive, fragile, and narrow places. If the caves haven t been

However, it is necessary tot remain untouched or barely untouched so they keep their essence and
