The Reasons And Causes Of The Indonesian War Of Independence
Unlike the Filipino and Burma s revolution, the Indonesian national revolution or Indonesian war of
independence, was a diplomatic struggle and war between Indonesia and the Dutch Empire. The
Revolution started between Indonesia s proclamation of independence in 1945 and the Dutch
recognition of Indonesia s independence on December 1949. The Dutch had gain control of Indonesia
for more than 300 years. The kind of influence the Dutch had gave us can still be seen today, because
Indonesia was a subject to imperial rule or influence and is still struggling till today. The strive for
liberation endured for four years that involved an occasional violent conflict, inner Indonesian
political and communal disruption, and two crucial international ambassadorial ... Show more content

On June 1st, 1945, Sukarno read his Pancasila speech. Pancasila is the official Philosophical basis of
Indonesia. It is composed by two traditional Javanese words, specifically from Sangkrit. Panca means
five , Sila means Principles . Pancasila is the sole, basic principle of our life as a society, nation and a
state President Soeharto. Based on this quote by President Soeharto, Pancasila incorporates the five
major principles of Indonesia as a community. On 15th of August 1945, The Japanese had surrender to
allied nation powers in the World War 2. Indonesia had proclaimed itself independent on 17th of
August 1945, only two days after the Japanese had declared they surrendered. On 3rd of November
1945, Hatta proclaims the right of the people to form political parties. In a short time, a multi party
system came out, ranging from new ideologies and nationalism to socialism. It also includes religion
and Marxism. Thus the governmental system structure had developed into a tolerant democracy
envision by Pancasila. And in November 10, 1945, the region around the east Javanese town urban
area of Surabaya became the location in where most of the intense battle was. The battle of Surabaya
became the logo of opposition to the re imposition of the Dutch colonial rule. Throughout the whole
revolution, there were many significant historical events that highlight the shift in

The Code Of Dress Code Busting
All anyone ever hears about these days is the way people dress and what s appropriate and what s not.
It s all a matter of opinion. At least that s what they all say, until someone gets busted for dress code at
school. Then all of the sudden it doesn t matter what anyone s opinion is. It s the opinion of the person
doing the dress code busting. So many schools across the country have established a dress code policy
these days, some being mediocre and others taking it to the extreme. One outfit could be revealing to
teacher A, and that same outfit could be considered perfectly fine to teacher B. After all it is a matter
of opinion but the person who catches the dress code violation is the one in the end who gets to
decide, so no one else s opinions end up mattering. Dress code shouldn t be becoming so important
though and teachers and staff members shouldn t need to make clothing more important than the
education of students. It should not be this way and some things need to be changed. Some people say
dress code is causing girls to body shame themselves. It may not seem like it, but this is something
that is having a very negative impact on girls. According to the article Enforcing school dress codes
teaches girls to be ashamed, not modest , some parents and educators believe young women s outfits
their bodies really are too distracting for men to be expected to comfort themselves with dignity and
respect. Instead of teaching girls math or literature, schools are

A Report On Summit Electronic Supply
1. Summit Electronic Supply was in need of new systems that could mend some of their unique
business process problems. Summit s line of business involves being the distributor of electronics
equipment to electrical contractors, giving the company a high volume of transactions and inventory
turnover (Laudon, 2013). The most important processes for Summit included stock keeping units and
order transactions. As a distributer, Summit s main concern was to fulfill its orders on time. To do so,
Summit needed to have meticulous records of the location and availability of its products. Summit
sold a high volume of cable and wires that were hard to keep track of. Since these materials were sold
in lengths, (e.g. 500 feet of cable), it was vital to keep track of exactly how much inventory was left.
Another important process of Summit were its sales chargebacks. Sales chargebacks are when a
supplier sells a higher wholesaler price to the distributor than the price the distributor had set with the
retail customer (Laudon, 2013). Keeping track of chargebacks was vital to the company as it ensured
that no extra revenue was lost. Another important business process for Summit was its warehouse
accommodations. Summit would set up temporary warehouses to supply large customers with long
term job sites (Laudon, 2013).
2. Summit s outdated legacy system made it very difficult for the company to continue its
performance. First, the company s old system made it nearly

Riley V. California Case
Riley v. California is a Supreme Court case that pertains to the Fourth Amendment; specifically, the
privacy clause. This case was decided by the Court in 2014 with a unanimous decision for Riley. It
came to the Court after the petitioner, Riley, was stopped for a traffic violation and then arrested on a
weapons charge. The arresting officer proceeded to search Riley and removed a cell phone from his
pocket. After accessing the phone the officer found evidence of gang related activity. The officer took
Riley back to the station and a detective that specialized in gang related crime went through the phone
and found multiple pictures and videos pertaining to a shooting a few weeks prior. They sought to
enhance the charges due to the evidence found on his phone that connected him to the gangs. Riley
moved to suppress the evidence that was discovered on his phone; the trial court denied the motion
and the Court of Appeals affirmed. A number of interests groups appeared as amici in this case
including: EPIC, American Civil Liberties Union, Cato Institute, DKT Liberty Project, Constitutional
Accountability Center amongst others submitted briefs in support of the petitioner. Two groups
submitted briefs in support of the respondent and those include Association of State Criminal
Investigative Agencies and Arizona et al. The Supreme Court held that without a warrant the police
may not search a cell phone seized from an individual who has been arrested. A warrantless search is

The American Red Cross Failure
In the past, the Red Cross Association has dealt with controversy from its corrupt leadership to its
reputation surrounding possible fraud. O.C. Ferrell, John Fraedrich and Linda Ferrell (2015) defines
the American Red Cross (ARC) as an independent organization who s mission is to provide relief to
victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies (Ferrell,
Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2015). In recent news, Hurricane Matthew made its way to the United States in
October 2016. The category 4 storm was expected to damage the Southeast coast of the United States
including Florida and South Carolina (Bacon, 2016). While many residents took precautions and

The Events Of The 2007 Tragedy
Crisis Management CA Virginia Tech Tragedy (2007) Background April 16th, 2007 is remembered as
a day that saw one of the single deadliest gunman shootings in recent history which a seemingly
normal college student, Cho Seung Hui, murder 32 people on campus grounds within a two and a half
hour time frame. Nine years have passed since the fatal tragedy occurred and the repercussions have
laid the grounds ever since for the method colleges and educational facilities, the world over, approach
crisis planning with a mind to minimise the severity, should such a terrible incident arise, and restore a
safe and placid environment for all involved. This report will critically analyse the steps surrounding
the events of the 2007 tragedy and offer suggestions as to how such a sensitive topic should be
considered today. Planning After the fallout of Virginia Tech, third level institutions made it a priority
to have protocols in place if ever such a similar event were to happen to their communities. With
similar incidents having happened in familiar circumstances before, it had become clear that
preparation for any and all crisis matters was crucial in the society we live in (Barker and Yoder,
2016). A near decade prior, Early Warning, Timely Response: A Guide to Safe Schools , was published
by the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Justice following the 1998 Thurston
High School shooting. The guide set out to be seen as part of an overall effort to make sure

Stereotypes In The Chess Bedroom
This photo seems to me to resemble a chess match occurring in the background while the foreground
is of a coach/teacher and his student. There appears to be other activities happening with in the photo
such as the teaching interaction between the man and boy in the foreground, a man in a white shirt
who appears to be studying something (a manual, his watch, a playbook, or notes) that cannot be seen
due to the chess table blocking whatever he is looking at, and to his right a gentleman taking pictures.
The gentleman taking pictures appears to look like a journalist or photographer for a newspaper venue
or magazine or even for a chess club organization. He may also be a volunteer taking pictures of the
event or interactions. Additional activities occurring in the background displays more men playing
chess (sitting down around the table) while other gentlemen are observing (men standing around in the
background looking down to the chessboard of the test players in the background), and other men
walking further in the background. I am not sure of the location of the image however from the clues

I have two hypotheses as to why this is the case. The first involves a more strategic purposeful event
for men to participate or that the photographer intentionally took the picture in a way that women were
not present at the time of the photo. One interesting element that came to mind is that if this photo
were used as a cover story picture it illustrates a form of gender stereotyping by either intentionally,
through the use of Photoshop techniques or unintentionally staging the picture so that no women are
present (Lester, 2014). I think at the time of this picture the stereotypical idea of chess and events that
promoted chess tournaments or games were known to be a male dominated venue. In thinking back I
consider how the media portrays the idea that Chess is a male dominated game and not for

Donate To The Humane Animal Welfare Society
Have you ever wanted donate to a local human society because you are tired of seeing sad dog
commercials? Well, I have the answer. Donate to the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS), there
is one in Waukesha. It began in 1965. If you donate, it will help the animals get food and find a home.
The society takes care of them and gives them shots and/or sprays them if they need to. It is only 26
minutes away and 14.4 miles away from Muskego. HAWS is also a no kill shelter. All of the animals
stay till they get home.
Did you know that 56 billion animals are killed each year, but HAWS is a no kill shelter and they
welcome 8,000 animals each year. They have a website where they put their animals on so people can

Normily the pigs and small dogs go first and any baby animals. And an older dog only cost $79, a
puppy is $275, and a 6 month old to 2 year old id $225. These dogs are so cheap because HAWS
employees want them to find a home! But each animals will stay till they are not sick or hurt and are
feeling ok going home with their new owners. Each animal is chipped. So if they are able to run away
or stuff like that they can be found easily.
Any animals that are blind or special needs or needs extra supervision will be taken home with one of
the workers and brought back during the day. HAWS is a no kill shelter so even if an animal would sit
at the shelter for too long it would not be killed. There is always someone staying with the animals
overnight ike a worker. In order to buy the animal and take it home with you, your whole family has to
come in and make sure that the animal is okay. If the animal is not right for your family HAWS will
find a new pet for you and your family.
If you want a pet and don t want to spend a lot of money then go to HAWS pets aren t very expensive
because they just want to find the animals loving forever homes. HAWS has also been successful
since 1965. HAWS is only 26 minutes away from muskego. HAWS does not buy any of these animals

Factors That Affect Interpersonal Relationships
The Chilean Doctor Alejandra Godoy, states that there are mainly four types of attachments. On the
one hand, there is secure attachment which is positive, and on the other side, there are three different
styles of insecure attachment; the anxious, the avoidant and the ambivalent. The attachment,
specifically the anxious attachment, is an affective bond that is developed during the first years of life,
but some people keep it up to adults, which I strongly believe that negatively affects their
interpersonal relationships and their self esteem. Relationships consume a huge part of the emotional
energy to people with this type of attachment. In addition, it makes them easily upset.. When
something does not turn out as expected, the symptoms of nervousness, anxiety and depression begin,
so these people, who are victims of this strong bond, tend to suffer more in their relationships and in
their personal lives.
It is very common for people with anxious attachment to be very possessive in their relationships. In
general, they tend to confuse love with the need to belong to someone. The couple s relationship
consumes much of the emotional energy in people with this bond and makes them easily upset. If this
is what happens, it is not love what they really feel; it is the activated anxious attachment system.
Frequently, fears and doubts arise about the other on the relationship. A person with these symptoms
confuses love with his/ her attachment symptoms, stops having an independent

The Cause Of Mary Todd s Tragedy
Even though Mary Todd had obtained her goal of becoming First Lady, in 1862 she was again visited
by tragedy. In the midst of the American Civil War during Abraham Lincoln s first term in office, the
beloved son of the President and First Lady, Willie, became ill with typhoid fever. Disease ran
rampant at the time and was often deadly, as it was in Willie s case. The Lincolns were devastated by
the loss and it was uncertain if Mary would recover. Willie s body was embalmed in the White House
s Green Room, which Mary would refuse to enter from that point on. (Burlingame 250) Abraham
Lincoln kept his mind busy with war matters in order to grieve Willie s death. Mary Todd however fell
into a deep depression and suffered for an extensive period

What Is The Role Of Julius Caesar And Augustus
Gaius and Lucius Julius Caesar were adopted by Augustus in 17 BC. They were under the care of
Agrippa if he should die. Augustus and Agrippa had their powers renewed and became involved in
Gaul and the northern frontiers of Italy. Agrippa will turn his attention to the eastern provinces. In 13
BC, Tiberius received his first consulship, which was an important step for him in the political and
social ladder. Agrippa started to return from the east, however he fell ill and died. This was a crushing
blow for Augustus to lose his lifelong friend. This was probably the only man in his circle he could
truly trust. He had helped Augustus in both the political and military world of Rome. Agrippa was a
humble man and seems to be content with the role he was given. There was a grandiose funeral from
him and was even buried in Augustus mausoleum.
Lepidus who was the pontifex maximus, which is the head of the priests, passed away the title was
given over to Augustus. In 11 BC, Tiberius married Julia supporting the bloodline and relation to
Augustus. He then turned his attention to the campaigns against the Dalmatians and Pannonians.
Augustus once again took the consulship but for his own interest and pursuit. He lead Gaius into the
Forum, where the Senate voted that in five years he was to be consul. Augustus did the same ritual for
Lucius while holding his 13th consulship. He took great care to have them prepared to succeed him.
However, Lucius died in 2 AD and his brother later in 4

Red Light Rating
The University of Oklahoma is rated as a yellow light university, and Oklahoma State University is
rated as a red light university. According to FIRE, a yellow light university is one with policies that
could somewhat easily be able to restrict a limited amount of protected expression. This type of
speech code has a clear approach to what content is prohibited, like content regarding alcohol or
drugs. A red light, what OSU was rated, means that the institution has at least one policy that clearly
and substantially restricts freedom of speech. The university restricts access to their speech codes by
requiring a login and password, which impedes prospective students from seeing what is prohibited.
FIRE believes that this action alone is deceptive and serious enough to give the university a red light
rating. In one case at OSU, a pro life club called Cowboys for Life was protesting against abortion
when the university interfered. The problem stated in the report that the university had was that the
group was showing pictures related to abortion. Personally, I do see how they could interfere in a case
like this because it has gone beyond speech. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Adoption Is An Option That Is Not Discussed
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Per Steven Ertelt, adoption is an option that is not discussed nearly enough in the public debate about
choice. With adoption, everybody wins. The unaborted, adopted child gets the chance to live, and a
chance to live in a place with loving, caring people. The adoptive parents in return benefit from having
a child of their own. Studies even show that children who were born out of wedlock but are raised by
adoptive parents flourish in many categories. The adoptive children tend to attain higher levels of
education, higher self esteem, and even enjoy better health. Adoption is also beneficial for the birth
mother because she benefits from knowing she made the right decision to give life. Despite adoptions
advantages, it has fallen on hard times. Research shows there has been a decrease in adoptions since
the legalization of abortions in 1973. Before abortions were legalized, 8.7 percent of children born out
of wedlock were placed up for adoption, and now statistics show that number to be around one
percent. One matter of concern for the pro life movement is that women facing crisis pregnancies
often have false ideas about adoption. Pregnant women think of adoption as the abandonment of their
child, and see abortion as a much easier alternative (Ertelt n.p.).
According to Kevin Mcgovern, for most of the twentieth century, adoption provided a pretty good
outcome when a girl or woman became pregnant and was unable to raise her child. In an era where

World History Chapter 16 Summary
In Chapter 16, absolutism and constitutionalism is broadly discussed on how it was used around the
world. Absolutism is a form of government where monarch sole and uncontestable power over the
state and all of their subjects. This form of rule was used all throughout Eastern Europe. In Russia, the
Mongols forced the Slavic princes to accept their rule and give them anything they desired such as
tributes and slaves. The Mongols were under the two hundred year rule of Mongol khan because of
the former territories of Kievan Rus. Kievan Rus was medieval state that was centered in a city known
as Kiev and part of modern day Ukraine. The princes of Moscow emerged as hereditarily great during

their arrival they joined all the free people and outlaw armies living there. They were known as

known as the Time of Troubles. During this time the Cossacks and peasants rebelled against all nobles

The Mohicans Stereotypes
Courtney Nemec Hist 240.001 9/23/16 The Last of the Mohicans: the Noble Savage, the Bloodthirsty
Savage, and the Vanishing Indian The 1992 film The Last of the Mohicans takes place in 1757 during
the French and Indian War. It follows the adventure of the Mohican Chief, Chingachgook, his son
Uncas, and his adoptive son Nathaniel Hawkeye Poe, as they battle the Huron war party who have
allied with the French. All awhile, Hawkeye and Uncas fall for the daughters of British Colonel
Munro as they defend them against Magua, the Huron war party chief who is seeking revenge on
Colonel Munro for past wrong doings. The film ultimately romanticizes the Mohican Native
Americans by having Hawkeye become lovers with Cora Munro and having Uncas deeply ... Show

This stereotype generally depicts Native Americans as inherently violent and warlike people, who go
around with tomahawks screaming and covered in war paint. These people go around scalping people
and performing human sacrifices. Sometimes, they are even considered to have committed minimal
cannibalism. But ultimately, the Native Americans known as bloodthirsty savages are the bad guys. In
addition, these Native Americans are considered to be animalistic because not only are they typically
depicted as partially naked, but also because they enjoy killing others, especially Europeans.1 For
example, John Vanderlyn depicts this in the 1804 painting The Death of Jane McCrea , where two
Native American men are holding down Jane while one is about to scalp her with a tomahawk. The
Native Americans in this painting are considered animalistic because they are half naked and they
seem to be enjoying killing her.6 This bloodthirsty savage stereotype is also depicted in the film by the
Huron war party being brutal and mean. This is shown in the same scene mentioned earlier where the
British soldiers were taking the women through the woods and the Huron war party viciously started
killing and scalping the Englishmen in front of the women.3 Another example of this stereotype is
when the Hurons sentenced Major Hayward to be burned alive.4 This is an example of a human
sacrifice. Lastly, this stereotype is evident in the film when Magua rips out Grey Hair s, Captain
Munro s heart as revenge for the pain and suffering he caused him years before, when he was taken as
a slave by the Mohawks, lost his wife to another man, and his daughters being killed. Magua not only
wanted to rip out Captain Munro s heart as his was metaphorically, but he also want him to know that
he was planning on killing his daughters as well so his seed would forever be wiped from the earth.7 It
is also important to note that during these

Case Analysis Of Tarasoff Case
Tarasoff duty to warn/ protect is practiced by the therapist or psychologist to determine serious threat
of violence to another and they have reasonable care to warn and protect the potential victims when
there were foreseeable danger (Small, 2010). In Tarasoff case, the client, Poddar was intended to kill
his formal girlfriend, Tarasoff (Small, 2010). His personal psychologist was told about it. However, no
action was taken and this actually causes Poddar in carrying out his threat that he killed Tarasoff

Since the time of federation the Aboriginal people have been fighting for their rights through protests,

Johnny Cash Meaning
An Ending to Johnny Cash s Life and Career Johnny Cash, The Man in Black was a legendary singer
and songwriter of country, rock, blues, folk, and gospel. He was a deeply religious man, who loved
Jesus and the Bible (Tomlinson). His musical career stretched roughly from 1954 to his death in 2003.
Throughout his life he faced many of his inner demons and hardships with his music, and the word of
god. One of his final songs recorded in 2002 The Man Comes Around is perhaps his greatest song and
speaks about his beliefs and what he thinks the near future holds. This song encompasses the Book of
Revelations, the coming of judgment day, some of his personal influences and experiences, and his
struggle to follow the path of the righteous man. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the dream Johnny visits Queen Elizabeth (who he had never met) and she is laughing while sitting
on the floor. She says Johnny, you re like a thorn tree in a whirlwind. Johnny fought hard to
understand the meaning of this dream and almost did not find anything. He claimed that he found the
meaning in the Book of Job, but no one has been able to find it. Biblically, whirlwinds are said to be a
large and destructive force that conquer the wicked. Thorns are usually associated with evil and
wickedness. (Williams) This dream may indicate that Johnny felt as though he hadn t lived his life in a
good manner. Throughout his life, Johnny had always felt responsible for his brother s death. The
tragic accident fueled him to create the somewhat dark and mysterious music that almost everyone can
relate to. Although Johnny had always been a believer, it wasn t always easy for him to Walk the Line

significant problems in life. It s hard for thee to kick against the pricks could relate to his personal

Comparing The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Flood
The Epic of Gilgamesh tells the tale of Gilgamesh, the demigod king of Uruk, and his epic quest to
find eternal life, after his best friend, Enkidu, dies. On this journey, Gilgamesh seeks the help of
Utnapishtim, who tells his story about the flood he survived. This flood story is extremely similar to
the one told in the Bible. After breaking down both stories and looking especially at the reasons for the
flood, amount of destruction, and the way to find land after, it becomes apparent that ideas were taken
from one and slightly changed to accommodate the other story. Everything happens for a reason, and
even gods are included in this rule of thumb. In both stories, clear reasons are laid out for the floods.
The gods in Utnapishtim s story flood the earth because they are simply annoyed with the people and
decide it is time for a great flood. While in the Bible, God floods the earth because of the pure
wickedness that resides in the human race. The common thread between the flood s purpose is human
fault. The gods in the stories both decide to send a flood because of the way humans have turned out,
and the gods are not happy with the way the people act. Though it is human flaw that causes the
floods, different flaws cause each flood. In Utnapishtim s story, he is chosen to survive and he has to
tell the leaders You have learned that Enil the was god despised you and will not give you access to
the city anymore, and For this Ea will bring the rains. This means that the

Abortion Is A Issue Of Abortion
Abortion is a very touchy subject in our society. In the U.S. it is legal to abort a fetus up until the
twenty fourth week. An abortion is the ending of a pregnancy before birth, which results in the death
of an embryo or a fetus. Many people consider abortion as cruel as murder. Although some say
abortion is in there own hands and is there own decision, others believe that no one but God has the
right to take someone else s life. People that support abortion do not consider an unborn fetus a person
who must be protected under the law. Which makes an issue like abortion, difficult in determining if it
is right or wrong in someone s opinion. Supporters of abortion are also known to be Pro Choice .
Abortion has been around for thousands of years. The U.S. Supreme Court Case; Roe vs. Wade in
1973 has made abortion legal in America. A pregnant single woman(Roe) brought a class action
challenging the constitutionality of the Texas criminal abortion laws, which proscribe procuring or
attempting an abortion except on medical advice for the purpose of saving the mother s life.
(caselaw.findlaw.com). The ruling was that fetus are not legal people, so they have had no rights or
protection under our constitution. A woman has a right to make decisions that involve her own body.
The government has respected a woman s right to privacy. A woman s reproductive system should not
be the subject on the table with the government arguing about it. This reasoning was the premise for

Exploratons and Colonization of North and South America...
Exploration and colonization of North and South America were ultimately not beneficial in the 15th
and 16th centuries because it wiped out many cultures and did more harm than good. First of all, the
Europeans forcibly converted the Natives to Christianity. This had a great negative impact because it
resulted in the loss of native cultures. Over time, many Native American languages started to
disappear from common use and English took over. Many may argue that colonization and exploration
were important because of the Columbian Exchange that arose from it, however diseases and the slave
trade also came from the Columbian exchange. I believe that the death of millions was not a
reasonable price to pay for the benefits of the Europeans. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

colony. With the help of Roger Williams, Rhode Island was able to separate the church from the state.
The colonies of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Rhode Island set the model for other colonies to follow.
More and more colonies started the practice religious tolerance (andycrown.net). Though there were
some colonies that did not practice religious tolerance, the majority of the colonies did practice
religious tolerance. The horrible and brutal treatment of the Native Americans were unnecessary and
could have been avoided. Men like Columbus and Cortes treated the Natives with a cruel and brutal
hand. They enslaved a great amount of natives, they brought disease to the natives and they ruthlessly
killed the Natives for no good reason. There could have been other ways in which the Natives and
Europeans could have interacted in order to get what both sides wanted. For example, the Columbian
Exhange could have occurred without violence. The Europeans and Natives could have respectfully
made deals about trade rather than the Europeans just coming in and taking what the pleased. All in

The Black Death Was A Tragic Pandemic
The Black Death was a tragic pandemic that changed Europe dramatically. The Black Death, also
known as the Bubonic plague, killed millions of people throughout the thirteenth and fourteenth
centuries. The Black Plague occurred in this time period because trade and commerce started to
develop rapidly. After new trade routes had been opened, a ship coming back from Asia picked up
some fleas and rodents that were carrying the disease. Once the disease hit Europe, it spread rapidly
and killed millions of people. The late middle aged Europeans during this time lived in constant fear
of death. Most of them would remain inside their houses, trying to avoid any contact with the outside
world because they feared that they would develop the disease. In the end, every citizen was aware
that he or she could not escape death because eventually the Black Death would reach them. This
sparked creativity and inspiration in Europeans. The people all over Europe started creating new ideas
and developing theories based on society all because they feared that the Black Death would take their
lives. With this new profound sense of knowledge, there were new developments in science, literature,
and society that would ultimately help humanity flourish as a whole. Being surrounded by death and
the fear of it, it eventually helped society change for the better. There would be no change in society if

The case discusses an entrepreneur named Sethu Sethunarayanan, who invented and marketed an
innovative trap to help poor Irula people (an Indian tribe) catch rats more efficiently. He is the founder
of the Center for Development of Disadvantaged People (CDDP) one of a few recognized non profit
organizations in India. The case is an example how technological innovation and human capital can be
used to improve the life for the poor.

Lastly, Sethu seemed to be the first one who addressed the problem in how Irula people catch rats, so
he had the first mover advantage. In addition, it was not likely that other social entrepreneurs would
come and compete with Sethu in the near future. Hence, the Irulas did not have other choices but use
Sethu s new traps if they wanted to change the way to catch rats.
3. What characteristics of the entrepreneur enabled their success?
Sethu had many characteristics of an ideal social entrepreneur. Among those characteristics, the thing
distinguishing him from others may be his concern for the community. Being inspired by Mahatma
Gandhi the Father of the Nation, Sethu always thought of ways to bring a better life for the poor in
India. This is probably the reason why he realized the problem of the old way of catching rats of the
Irulas and did not stop thinking of a solution.
In addition, Sethu obtained an appropriate education and experience in doing social entrepreneurship.
Sethu studied in Gandhi s school in India, where he was instructed to use Gandhi s method to improve
lives for the poor, solve human conflicts and introduce new ideas. After graduation, he worked for an
NGO to accumulate experience before establishing his own NGO in 1998. His education and
experience were the foundation for his innovativeness, which contributed to the invention of the rat
trap.

Introduction Paulo Freire was born in Recife, Brazil in 1921. He became familiar with grief, suffering;

Globalisation Economic Growth and Development and development indicators.
Outline the differences between economic growth and economic development. Discuss how economic
development may be measured. Outline how globalisation may impact upon a nation s development.
Where appropriate make reference to a relevant case study.
Although economic growth and development are similar in meaning, they have some essential
differences. Economic growth refers to the increasing ability of a nation to produce more goods and
services. Economic development basically implies that individuals of that nation will be better off and
takes into account changes in economic and social structures that will reduce or eliminate poverty.

Various indicators have been developed to compensate for the limitations of economic growth
measurements. Rather than just measuring the economic living standards in a country, development
indicators measure the welfare of individuals in that country. The main development indicator used is
the Human Development Index (HDI). It was devised by the United Nations Development Program
(UNDP) to measure the economic achievements of a nation in combining economic growth as well as
social welfare. The HDI takes into account three major factors:
Life expectancy at birth: High levels of longevity are critical for a country s economic and social well
being.
Levels of educational attainment: The HDI measures adult literacy and the ratio of people in primary,
secondary and tertiary education.
Gross Domestic Product per capita: seen as being a measurement of the ability of people to access
goods and services.
The HDI is essentially a score between 0 and 1. A score of 0 would mean no human development has
taken place and a score of 1 is the maximum amount of human development. In 2000, the Human
Development Report places Canada as the top ranked nation with a HDI of 0.935. Australia was
ranked fourth, with a HDI of 0.929 behind Norway and the United States. The lowest ranked nation
was Sierra Leone with a HDI of 0.252. When comparing the HDI of certain countries, the GNP per
capita should also be considered. A nation with a much higher ranking HDI than GNP per

Fluctuating Gas Prices Will Never End Essay
These days, gas prices seem to be a weekly topic on local and national news channels. Every time
there is some type of fluctuation, it causes an uproar, usually because it is a difference of ten cents or
greater. The reasons as to why is definitely a mystery with new myths popping up each day and almost
all the supposed reasons being incorrect. The real discussion should be not as to what causes the price
change but how it affects our everyday lives. Should we adjust our way of life to accommodate less
driving or have we already? In the U.S., we saw gas prices go as low as $1.75 and as high as $3.00 in
2005. In 2006, we saw almost the same trend with a low of $2.10 and so far we have leveled out
around $3.00 or so. While I can agree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hurricane Katrina alone took out about 25 percent of U.S. crude oil production and about 15 percent
of U.S. refinery capacity which caused quite an increase in manufacturing costs. The largest factor that
has had the most impact on the overall rise in gas price is the removal of methyl tertiary butyl ether
that started in 2003. Due to the threat of groundwater contamination, the use of the gasoline additive
MTBE has been in the process of being phased out for several years. More than half of the States have
already banned the use of MTBE and you can clearly see its affect since gas prices started its biggest
increase in the same year that production had to change to accommodate the removal. Hybrid cars are
now a fad to save the environment and could be a way to cut down on usage. They use a battery to
supplement some power therefore using less gas. You could say this is the answer but in reality, while

The Revolution started between Indonesia s proclamation of independence in 1945 and the Dutch recognition of Indonesia s independence on December 1949. The Dutch had gain control of Indonesia for more than 300 years. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On June 1st, 1945, Sukarno read his Pancasila speech. Pancasila is the official Philosophical basis of Indonesia. It is composed by two traditional Javanese words, specifically from Sangkrit. Panca means five , Sila means Principles . Pancasila is the sole, basic principle of our life as a society, nation and a state President Soeharto. Based on this quote by President Soeharto, Pancasila incorporates the five major principles of Indonesia as a community. On 15th of August 1945, The Japanese had surrender to allied nation powers in the World War 2. Indonesia had proclaimed itself independent on 17th of August 1945, only two days after the Japanese had declared they surrendered. On 3rd of November 1945, Hatta proclaims the right of the people to form political parties. In a short time, a multi party system came out, ranging from new ideologies and nationalism to socialism. • 3. The Code Of Dress Code Busting All anyone ever hears about these days is the way people dress and what s appropriate and what s not. It s all a matter of opinion. At least that s what they all say, until someone gets busted for dress code at school. Then all of the sudden it doesn t matter what anyone s opinion is. It s the opinion of the person doing the dress code busting. So many schools across the country have established a dress code policy these days, some being mediocre and others taking it to the extreme. One outfit could be revealing to teacher A, and that same outfit could be considered perfectly fine to teacher B. After all it is a matter of opinion but the person who catches the dress code violation is the one in the end who gets to decide, so no one else s opinions end up mattering. Dress code shouldn t be becoming so important though and teachers and staff members shouldn t need to make clothing more important than the education of students. It should not be this way and some things need to be changed. Some people say dress code is causing girls to body shame themselves. It may not seem like it, but this is something that is having a very negative impact on girls. • 4. A Report On Summit Electronic Supply 1. Summit Electronic Supply was in need of new systems that could mend some of their unique business process problems. Summit s line of business involves being the distributor of electronics equipment to electrical contractors, giving the company a high volume of transactions and inventory turnover (Laudon, 2013). The most important processes for Summit included stock keeping units and order transactions. As a distributer, Summit s main concern was to fulfill its orders on time. To do so, Summit needed to have meticulous records of the location and availability of its products. Summit sold a high volume of cable and wires that were hard to keep track of. Since these materials were sold in lengths, (e.g. 500 feet of cable), it was vital to keep track of exactly how much inventory was left. Another important process of Summit were its sales chargebacks. Sales chargebacks are when a supplier sells a higher wholesaler price to the distributor than the price the distributor had set with the retail customer (Laudon, 2013). Keeping track of chargebacks was vital to the company as it ensured that no extra revenue was lost. Another important business process for Summit was its warehouse accommodations. Summit would set up temporary warehouses to supply large customers with long term job sites (Laudon, 2013). 2. • 5. Riley V. California Case Riley v. California is a Supreme Court case that pertains to the Fourth Amendment; specifically, the privacy clause. This case was decided by the Court in 2014 with a unanimous decision for Riley. It came to the Court after the petitioner, Riley, was stopped for a traffic violation and then arrested on a weapons charge. The arresting officer proceeded to search Riley and removed a cell phone from his pocket. After accessing the phone the officer found evidence of gang related activity. The officer took Riley back to the station and a detective that specialized in gang related crime went through the phone and found multiple pictures and videos pertaining to a shooting a few weeks prior. They sought to enhance the charges due to the evidence found on his phone that connected him to the gangs. Riley moved to suppress the evidence that was discovered on his phone; the trial court denied the motion and the Court of Appeals affirmed. A number of interests groups appeared as amici in this case including: EPIC, American Civil Liberties Union, Cato Institute, DKT Liberty Project, Constitutional Accountability Center amongst others submitted briefs in support of the petitioner. The Events Of The 2007 Tragedy Crisis Management CA Virginia Tech Tragedy (2007) Background April 16th, 2007 is remembered as a day that saw one of the single deadliest gunman shootings in recent history which a seemingly normal college student, Cho Seung Hui, murder 32 people on campus grounds within a two and a half hour time frame. Nine years have passed since the fatal tragedy occurred and the repercussions have laid the grounds ever since for the method colleges and educational facilities, the world over, approach crisis planning with a mind to minimise the severity, should such a terrible incident arise, and restore a safe and placid environment for all involved. This report will critically analyse the steps surrounding the events of the 2007 tragedy and offer suggestions as to how such a sensitive topic should be considered today. Planning After the fallout of Virginia Tech, third level institutions made it a priority to have protocols in place if ever such a similar event were to happen to their communities. With similar incidents having happened in familiar circumstances before, it had become clear that preparation for any and all crisis matters was crucial in the society we live in (Barker and Yoder, 2016). A near decade prior, Early Warning, Timely Response: A Guide to Safe Schools , was published by the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Justice following the 1998 Thurston High School shooting. On the one hand, there is secure attachment which is positive, and on the other side, there are three different styles of insecure attachment; the anxious, the avoidant and the ambivalent. The attachment, specifically the anxious attachment, is an affective bond that is developed during the first years of life, but some people keep it up to adults, which I strongly believe that negatively affects their interpersonal relationships and their self esteem. Relationships consume a huge part of the emotional energy to people with this type of attachment. In addition, it makes them easily upset.. When something does not turn out as expected, the symptoms of nervousness, anxiety and depression begin, so these people, who are victims of this strong bond, tend to suffer more in their relationships and in their personal lives. It is very common for people with anxious attachment to be very possessive in their relationships. In general, they tend to confuse love with the need to belong to someone. The couple s relationship consumes much of the emotional energy in people with this bond and makes them easily upset. Augustus and Agrippa had their powers renewed and became involved in Gaul and the northern frontiers of Italy. Agrippa will turn his attention to the eastern provinces. In 13 BC, Tiberius received his first consulship, which was an important step for him in the political and social ladder. Agrippa started to return from the east, however he fell ill and died. This was a crushing blow for Augustus to lose his lifelong friend. This was probably the only man in his circle he could truly trust. A red light, what OSU was rated, means that the institution has at least one policy that clearly and substantially restricts freedom of speech. • 15. Adoption Is An Option That Is Not Discussed REVIEW OF LITERATURE Per Steven Ertelt, adoption is an option that is not discussed nearly enough in the public debate about choice. With adoption, everybody wins. The unaborted, adopted child gets the chance to live, and a chance to live in a place with loving, caring people. The adoptive parents in return benefit from having a child of their own. Studies even show that children who were born out of wedlock but are raised by adoptive parents flourish in many categories. The adoptive children tend to attain higher levels of education, higher self esteem, and even enjoy better health. Adoption is also beneficial for the birth mother because she benefits from knowing she made the right decision to give life. Despite adoptions advantages, it has fallen on hard times. Research shows there has been a decrease in adoptions since the legalization of abortions in 1973. Before abortions were legalized, 8.7 percent of children born out of wedlock were placed up for adoption, and now statistics show that number to be around one percent. One matter of concern for the pro life movement is that women facing crisis pregnancies often have false ideas about adoption. Pregnant women think of adoption as the abandonment of their child, and see abortion as a much easier alternative (Ertelt n.p.). According to Kevin Mcgovern, for most of the twentieth century, adoption provided a pretty good outcome when a girl or woman became pregnant and was unable to raise her child. In an era where ... This stereotype generally depicts Native Americans as inherently violent and warlike people, who go around with tomahawks screaming and covered in war paint. These people go around scalping people and performing human sacrifices. Sometimes, they are even considered to have committed minimal cannibalism. But ultimately, the Native Americans known as bloodthirsty savages are the bad guys. In addition, these Native Americans are considered to be animalistic because not only are they typically depicted as partially naked, but also because they enjoy killing others, especially Europeans.1 For example, John Vanderlyn depicts this in the 1804 painting The Death of Jane McCrea , where two Native American men are holding down Jane while one is about to scalp her with a tomahawk. The Native Americans in this painting are considered animalistic because they are half naked and they seem to be enjoying killing her.6 This bloodthirsty savage stereotype is also depicted in the film by the Huron war party being brutal and mean. This is shown in the same scene mentioned earlier where the British soldiers were taking the women through the woods and the Huron war party viciously started killing and scalping the Englishmen in front of the women.3 Another example of this stereotype is when the Hurons sentenced Major Hayward to be burned alive.4 This is an example of a human sacrifice. Lastly, this stereotype is evident in the film when Magua rips out Grey Hair s, Captain Munro s heart as revenge for the pain and suffering he caused him years before, when he was taken as a slave by the Mohawks, lost his wife to another man, and his daughters being killed. Magua not only wanted to rip out Captain Munro s heart as his was metaphorically, but he also want him to know that he was planning on killing his daughters as well so his seed would forever be wiped from the earth.7 It is also important to note that during these ... • 23. Comparing The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Flood The Epic of Gilgamesh tells the tale of Gilgamesh, the demigod king of Uruk, and his epic quest to find eternal life, after his best friend, Enkidu, dies. On this journey, Gilgamesh seeks the help of Utnapishtim, who tells his story about the flood he survived. This flood story is extremely similar to the one told in the Bible. After breaking down both stories and looking especially at the reasons for the flood, amount of destruction, and the way to find land after, it becomes apparent that ideas were taken from one and slightly changed to accommodate the other story. Everything happens for a reason, and even gods are included in this rule of thumb. In both stories, clear reasons are laid out for the floods. The gods in Utnapishtim s story flood the earth because they are simply annoyed with the people and decide it is time for a great flood. While in the Bible, God floods the earth because of the pure wickedness that resides in the human race. The common thread between the flood s purpose is human fault. • 24. Abortion Is A Issue Of Abortion Abortion is a very touchy subject in our society. In the U.S. it is legal to abort a fetus up until the twenty fourth week. An abortion is the ending of a pregnancy before birth, which results in the death of an embryo or a fetus. Many people consider abortion as cruel as murder. Although some say abortion is in there own hands and is there own decision, others believe that no one but God has the right to take someone else s life. People that support abortion do not consider an unborn fetus a person who must be protected under the law. Which makes an issue like abortion, difficult in determining if it is right or wrong in someone s opinion. Supporters of abortion are also known to be Pro Choice . Abortion has been around for thousands of years. The U.S. Supreme Court Case; Roe vs. Wade in 1973 has made abortion legal in America. A pregnant single woman(Roe) brought a class action challenging the constitutionality of the Texas criminal abortion laws, which proscribe procuring or attempting an abortion except on medical advice for the purpose of saving the mother s life. (caselaw.findlaw.com). The ruling was that fetus are not legal people, so they have had no rights or protection under our constitution. A woman has a right to make decisions that involve her own body. The government has respected a woman s right to privacy. A woman s reproductive system should not be the subject on the table with the government arguing about it. This reasoning was the premise for its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Exploration and colonization of North and South America were ultimately not beneficial in the 15th and 16th centuries because it wiped out many cultures and did more harm than good. First of all, the Europeans forcibly converted the Natives to Christianity. This had a great negative impact because it resulted in the loss of native cultures. Over time, many Native American languages started to disappear from common use and English took over. Many may argue that colonization and exploration were important because of the Columbian Exchange that arose from it, however diseases and the slave trade also came from the Columbian exchange. There could have been other ways in which the Natives and Europeans could have interacted in order to get what both sides wanted. The Black Death, also known as the Bubonic plague, killed millions of people throughout the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. The Black Plague occurred in this time period because trade and commerce started to develop rapidly. After new trade routes had been opened, a ship coming back from Asia picked up some fleas and rodents that were carrying the disease. Once the disease hit Europe, it spread rapidly and killed millions of people. The late middle aged Europeans during this time lived in constant fear of death. Most of them would remain inside their houses, trying to avoid any contact with the outside world because they feared that they would develop the disease. In the end, every citizen was aware that he or she could not escape death because eventually the Black Death would reach them. This sparked creativity and inspiration in Europeans. It was devised by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to measure the economic achievements of a nation in combining economic growth as well as social welfare. The HDI takes into account three major factors: Life expectancy at birth: High levels of longevity are critical for a country s economic and social well being. Due to the threat of groundwater contamination, the use of the gasoline additive MTBE has been in the process of being phased out for several years.
