Were The Patriots And Loyalists Justified
In the past, while learning about the American Revolution I had always thought of America as a
united front. The war between the Patriots and Loyalists could even be compared to the war
between America and Britain. The Patriots were not justified in abusing and expelling the
Loyalists. In the actions the Patriots took against the Loyalists, they violated their unalienable
rights, these actions also allowed for history to repeat itself through the civil war in 1861. The
Patriots fought for an admirable cause, as stated in the Declaration of Independence they believed
in fighting for the unalienable rights: that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness
(Ford.153). However, they took these unalienable rights away from the... Show more content on

In 1861, America entered a war within itself, the American Civil War. Both conflicts began in a
similar fashion. In both situations, a party felt like they were being muffled by the government. In
response to their feelings, both groups of rebels decided that they could survive on their own. This
caused friction within both parties and a disconnect between the government and those who
thoroughly believed in its practice and the governed and those who believed that there was more
that could be done. While some believed that it was best to see the government through, it is
understandable to see where some might find it more appealing to demand change. It is interesting
to ponder an alternate end to the American Revolution, while an accent might be nice, we would
live in world where even the simplest necessities would be heavily taxed and America would no
longer be a safe haven for those seeking life, love and the pursuit of happiness, like Thomas Paine
stated in Common Sense This new world hath been the asylum for the persecuted lovers of civil
and religious liberty from every part of Europe (Paine.150). Both groups of people during both
periods of war wanted the best possible outcome for America, unfortunately that was taken too far
when Patriots started abusing Loyalists and expelling them from the

Mental Health Essay
Overall feedback
MightSight was an interesting disruptive idea. The mental health market is growing and is
continuing to be a hot topic, an app that places control in the hands of the customer sounds viable.
Group 37 made it clear how Millennials would feel about their data being available on mobile, but
I would have been interested to understand how Group 37 would have overcome the obstacle, via
their branding, about how people would feel about being implanted with a chip.
What went well?
в—ЏI felt a clear gap in the market was identified for a personalised mental health App, however,
supported evidence was lacking and would be been helpful.

It was a shame they were presented without narration, as I felt they could have made some
substantial claims about how the App would match John and Marie s requirements. Marie s
persona mentioned that she never had the time to go see a psychiatrist, however, for the chip to be
implanted in the customer they would need to find time to see their physician. I think these
challenges could have been covered if the slide would have been narrated.
в—ЏEarly adopters were depicted in the Business Model Canvas, but it would have been great to
hear why Medical Students and young music and sports stars would have taken to the App and why
they would have been advocates of the business.
в—ЏAs specified in the proposal, narration wasn t recorded over every single slide.
в—ЏThe brand mission and purpose were unique, but I felt it would have been interesting to
understand how MindSight would have been positioned and would appeal to the target audience,
creating an authentic experience. The slide was cut off at the end, which again was a shame as I
wanted to hear more.
How could this have been improved?
в—ЏMore supporting evidence about how the App would disrupt the market would have made the
proposal more compelling.
в—ЏI liked the idea of the content marketing strategy, I could how the videos of the personas

The Peloponnesian War and the Decline of Leadership in Athens
Thucydides set out to narrate the events of what he believed would be a great war one requiring
great power amassed on both sides and great states to carry out. Greatness, for Thucydides, was
measured most fundamentally in capital and military strength, but his history delves into almost
every aspect of the war, including, quite prominently, its leaders. In Athensespecially, leadership
was vital to the war effort because the city s leaders were chosen by its people and thus, both shaped
Athens and reflected its character during their lifetimes. The leaders themselves, however, are
vastly different in their abilities and their effects on the city. Thucydides featured both... Show more

The Greeks practiced what was essentially a policy of strict isolationism fighting when they felt
their own territorial holdings being violated but refraining from complex inter Hellenic alliances
and subjugation for profit. The navies, and especially their role in the Persian Wars changed all this.
Equally significant in containing Greek power early on was the tradition of rule by tyrants, who, as
a result of their habit of providing simple for themselves...made safety the great aim of their policy,
and prevented anything great proceeding from them... (I.17). Here too, however, a sweeping change
took place just before the Persian invasion as Sparta put down Greek tyrants and set up democracy
in Athens. It was these two significant changes the construction of a navy in Athens and the
institution of democracy as its government that put Athens in a position to assume the role of major
Mediterranean power, and it was the Persian invasion that gave it the chance to take advantage of
that position (I.18).
The Athenians at the Second Lacedaemonian Congress contended that it was inevitable that Athens
would take such a chance when offered, arguing that it has always been the law that the weaker
should be subject to the stronger (I.76.2). Indeed, the primacy of self interest in determining the
actions of individuals and cities is

Comparison of Child Characters in Salinger s Teddy and...
In J.D. Salinger s Nine Stories there are many tales centered on children, who are often depicted
as a symbol of hope and connected with the values that stand in contrast to the ones typical of
the adults corrupted by materialism. In my essay, I would like to concentrate on the portrayal of
children in A Perfect Day for Bananafish and Teddy . Even though the way these characters are
depicted is similar, a child protagonist in each of the stories is representative of different things.
While Sibyl can be seen as a prototype of a childlike innocence, purity and simplicity, Teddy can
hardly be considered a prototypical innocent child. Despite the simplicity of Sibyl s thinking, her
presence and behavior help the reader draw many complex... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The one trait of personality that Teddy and Sibyl share is the kindness. The kindness is evidence
in both, Sibyl s treatment of Seymour and Teddy s behavior. When Teddy s sister tells the young
boy that he is the stupidest person [she] ever met (176), Teddy kindly defends and reassures the
young boy. In his journal it is discovered that all Teddy writes about are small kind acts that he
wishes to do for other people: he wants to find and wear his father s dog tags because he thinks it
will please him; he wants to write a condolence letter to someone who is ill, and he wishes to be
nicer to [the] librarian (180 1).Sybil s presence and behavior leads one to many conclusions
about the main adult in the story, Seymour Glass. Seymour s motives and values are clearly and
concisely revealed through interaction with Sybil. Again, the color blue is used to show
innocence. When Seymour takes off his robe to go in the water, it is discovered that his
shoulders were white and narrow, and his trunks were royal blue (Saliger 13). Even by his name
(Seymour see more), it is suggested that he is much closer to the nature of a child than to the
materialistic adult world, he sees in life much more than they do. In addition to the royal blue swim

Nobody s Son Is The Winner Of The American Book And...
Nobody s son is the winner of the American book and translated around the world. Luis Alberto
Urrea is the author. He wrote several categories of books. He is a member of the Latino
Literature Hall of Fame. When he was a child, he lived in neighbor where there was racial
discrimination. His mom was a segregationist, so she abandoned him to live with his father. His
father wanted to teach him to be a real man. However, his instructions were too aggressive.
Therefore, learning something quickly from critical situations, forcing kids to do some dislikes
to stop crying, enhancing patience from facing injuries, and being a bad model for kids are too
offensive to instruct kids to be a real man.To instruct children to be able to do something rapidly
by practicing in a dangerous situation does not mean to be a real man. Parents might let their
children learn how to train some abilities by themselves, but parents should not teach their
children in a dangerous situation because children cannot help themselves yet. For instance,
Luis s dad teaches him how to ride a bike like a real man. He removes training wheels and tells
Luis to ride a bike on the road, which many cars are driving. Luis falls down on the road with
blood on his arm, and a driver honks a horn. This might be Luis s luckiness that the car does not hit
him. A critical situation cannot prove to be a real man. His father may misunderstand that
practicing in a terrible situation is what a real man

The Character Analysis Of Harold And Maude And Before Sunrise
Although they are rather wildly different films in regards to their characters and plot, there is a
similar yearning for purpose and search for life s meaning at the heart of both Harold and Maude
(1971) and Before Sunrise (1995). As romantic films, both feature a deep character study of its two
leads Harold and Maudein the former, and Jesse and Celine in the latter and it is through the
exploration of both films characters as well as the development of their relationship with one
another that this pursuit of a greater understanding of life emerges. The atypical styles of both
films also influence the way in which certain themes are portrayed as well as the way in which its
messages are presented. Harold and Maude is particularly subversive in its plot and individual
characters, featuring a strangely endearing romancebetween a young depressed man and an 80
year old enlightened woman. Before Sunrise, on the other hand, is not as strikingly odd in its plot
or its leads, but rather in its way of portraying romance in film, as through their long and winding
conversations, Jesse and Celine fall in love while spending only a brief time in the company of one
another but also knowing each other s most intimate thoughts and feelings.
In Harold and Maude, Maude proves to be the driving force of Harold s awakening. Consequently,
her character initiates Harold s and the audience s embarkation on a search for purpose and
meaning as the events of the film transpire. Maude s

How Did Rachel Carson Use To Change The World
When the Pen Was Mightier Than the Sword: Rachel Carson s Use of Prose to Change the World
The famous author and ecologist, Rachel Carson, singlehandedly managed to start an
environmental movement with the power of her writing. The sharp contrast of the beauty that
she described and the disaster that was happening prompts many a reader to take up arms and
defend the world that they live in. Rachel used her writing talent to emphasize the contrast
between how the world used to be and what it had and will become. Her powerful words created
images within the readers minds of the horrors to come if nothing happens, by giving us glances
of what had already happened. In her revolutionary book Silent Spring, the beauty of her prose
juxtaposed by the evil of her topic makes the book extraordinary. Her use of beautiful descriptions
of the natural world contrast with the destruction that pesticides can cause. It makes us realize that
the world around us truly is beautiful but can be destroyed easily. ... Show more content on

Even though Carson did not want to write for a living, both reading and writing were a big part
of her life from an early age. She was a quiet child who preferred reading over socializing and
also submitted articles to the children s literary magazine St. Nicholas. After a college education
at John Hopkins, she had to give up her dream of getting a doctorate once the Depression hit and
her father passed away, in order to support her family (Linda Lear 23). She began working at the
US Fish and Wildlife Service, FWS, where she reconnected with her childhood passion for nature

Epistemology And Its Impact On Human Relations
Existence in this sophisticated world as the habitat of human life has been faced with numerous
challenges exhibited in policies that govern relationships. Human variations in perception of
various life concepts are navigated by understanding, knowledge and the meaning attached to
issues. Poverty, racism, global warming, terrorism, disease, political and religious affiliations are
among the issues that impinge humanrelations today. These problems are influenced with people s
knowledgeabout existence and what they consider to be valid. Thus, philosophy has manifested
great contribution in helping people achieve harmonious existence by relying on reason in

world and its variations. Philosophy has enabled me to understand that epistemology and ontology

the sense that epistemology focuses on the knowledge of things, the way we know things while
ontology investigates what things are in nature and origin which helps me to know who I am.
Epistemology is concerned with belief rationality, nature, origin, methods, knowledge validity and
limits of human knowledge, (Genest, 2004). Following this observation am committed to

Eventually, my ultimate concern is to justify and verify the little knowledge I possess. According to
the school of evidentialism, the evidence is relevant in the justification of belief, (Clark

Nathaniel Bacon Research Paper
Justus 2 We all love bacon, right? Maybe not! Many people have grew to dislike Mr. Nathaniel
Bacon. Why, or how, could they? Well, I ll tell you why, because Nathaniel Bacon is a very
important history character that we all need to know about. Bacon was born in England in 1674
to the famous Sir Francis Bacon, the lord chancellor of England from 1618 1621 ( Encylopedia
Britannica ). Mr. Bacon arrived in North America in 1674 when his wife, Elizabeth s, father
opposed their marriage. Bacon got land along the James River in Virginia, and in less than a year,
Bacon was made the governor of council of Virginia with some family pull. Nathaniel Bacon was
the Governor, William Berkeleys cousin by marriage. ( Encylopedia Britannica ) Before Bacon
arrived in 1674, frontier families were just barely getting by. The weather was bad leading to less
crop harvest and taxes were high. The colonists grew angry with the government, saying the
neighboring Indians should be removed ( Saint or Sinner? ). The colonists at once take the reins
and form an army. However, Gov. Berkeley says they must not have a commander, or go against
the Indians ( First American Rebel ). Bacon arrives in North America at just the perfect time, in his
eyes. Nathaniel Bacon was known to be very strong minded, strong willed, very opinionated, short
tempered young man. It turns... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and was able to remain as governor when he returned to Jamestown. He treated the rebels poorly

Jessica Stopa
In the paper titled Factory Farming: The Truth about the Poultry Industry by Jessica Stopa, she
informs readers about the malpractices of chicken livestock in the food industry in comparison
to how traditional agriculture practices were previously before the industrialization age. Her
paper was intended to speak to American food consumers and bring to light or inform about the
severity of industrialized farming practices. The writing was prompted by one of Ms. Stopa s
english classes and the intention of this work is to rhetorically analyze her credentials. She
incorporates a heavy amount of logos into her work to backup her own logic, but also includes
bits of pathos about the treatment of chicken and ethos by referring a figure who operates a local
farm. Stopa strategically begins her first few paragraphs with multiple entries of logos to present
the strength of her point. Each transition is crafted in chronological order of how an industrial
chicken farm operates, including how the poultry are manipulated and the effects on the end
product. The writer incorporates a visual in paragraph two of a typical chicken coop, today, animals
are treated like products, stacked together... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

would focus less on cutting costs and more on the welfare of their animals. . Words like thrown ,
drowned , and suffering are well interspersed in Stopa s work that gives readers a critical tone.
Once again, she fails to tie in the alternate views to each body paragraph, but instead comments on
the bad aspects of our reinvented food system. Readers can be sympathetic with the animals, but
they re not given the full spectrum of reality and truly able to judge the continually arising

% What is smouldering combustion?
Smouldering is defined as a self sustaining exothermic reaction in which the heat released by
surface oxidation causes pyrolysis of the unaffected fuel adjacent to the reaction zone, which in turn
yields a rigid char which will subsequently undergo surface oxidation citep{smith2006springer}.
The initiation of furniture fires by weak heat sources, such as, a cigarette or a short circuited wire,
and the flaming combustion of biomass occurring in bushfires behind the flaming front are two
common examples of smouldering combustion citep{rein2009smouldering}. extcolor{red}{$%$
What are differences among gasification, thermal degradation and smouldering?}
% What are differences among gasification, thermal degradation and smouldering?
When referring to smouldering, it is important to understand the differences between smouldering
and other non flaming reactions which involve external heat flux, such as gasification and thermal
decomposition. Gasification and thermal decomposition typically involve little or no oxidation
reaction and hence are endothermic; while smouldering involves both endothermic and exothermic
reactions citep{ohlemiller2002chapter}. If smouldering reaction is self sustained, then the
endothermic reactions are the driving force for the smouldering. Char oxidation is the principle
heat source in most of self sustained smouldering; therefore, any material that forms char during
thermal decomposition has the potential for

Wright Brothers Essay
The brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright, possibly the two most renowned representatives of
American aeronautics, were the first to experience controlled, continuous flight of a powered
airplane in history. Despite being autodidactic in the area of engineering, the duo proved to be
extraordinarily successful, testing and refining their strategies to overcome successive challenges
that arose with the building of a plane (Crouch 226). The two were so far ahead in the race for
flight that they even anticipated and found solutions to problems that more learned scientists could
not have even begun to predict. Successful, man controlled, powered flight was a fundamental

Neither of the brothers attended college, but instead, ventured forward together in becoming

to build their own printing presses. The teamwork between the two brothers led to the two
opening a bicycle shop in 1892, at first selling and mending bikes, and later building them (Garber

a reputation for their mechanical designs. Their skills and profits gained from mechanizing and
building these bicycles would give them the basic knowledge and funding to help in their

challenge, flight. The Wright brothers did not simply forget the helicopter toy that their father

gave rise to the brothers beginning to devote their mechanical and design skills to solving the

A result on the next page shows that at sales price of $21.50, the sales quantity rises to 1,140,085
units and net profit turns to positive for the first time. Besides, if a company continues to reduce
the price further, at the point of $15.50, it is where the company s profit on product 101 is in the
highest position as it gives the net profit of $3,901,908.
However, there are several factors for the company to choose its pricing strategy. In this case, it
may be better if the company choose to sell its product at $21.50 instead of $15.50. This is due
to the fact that price cutting appears to be not a good strategy in this industry. If every player in
the same industry starts to lower the price of their products, every company will end up having
the low price, which in turns lead to a low profit margin. Moreover, referring to the calculation in a
below table, it also implies that if the price is lower than $12, sales will not be able to cover the
variable cost incurred, thus it will bring about a loss in net profit.

Voice Over Internet Protocol Term Paper
Introduction
Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is a technology that offers voice communications using the
existing Internet protocols. Over the years the Internet has developed as a very cheap medium that
has been used to send electronic mails and files across the globe. VoIP extends this concept and
provides the facility to send voice data between people using the IP framework. Since the Internet is
a cheap medium, enabling voice services through it will effectively cut costs that are normally
encountered in making calls through normal telephone lines. This would mean that people across
the world can talk to each other at a fraction of the cost that they could be spending when they use
normal telephone lines. This is exactly what makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How VoIP functions
At the basic level, VoIP functions much like the common Internet services that are available
today. Voice data is received at one end of the IP network and is compressed, digitized, and
broken down into data packets with unique serial numbers. A universal lookup table or an IP
reference table helps the server at the call originating end to find out the IP of the receiver to
whom the call is placed. Once the IP is resolved, data is sent to the destination IP much in the
same fashion that emails and web data is transferred across the network. The data packets that are
received at the destination end is collected, arranged according to sequence numbers, and
converted back to analog signals so that the receiver can hear the voice. VoIP is possible between
two computers, between two telephones that are connected to a network or even between a
computer and a telephone. This means that a person with a PC can originate a call to a landline or
vice versa [Jain, 2004]
The advantages of VoIP
В• Voice and Data Integration
VoIP is a definite step towards integration of voice and data; a need that has been increasingly
researched since the last few decades. Integration of voice and data would mean that data transfer
can be controlled effectively thereby making data manipulation faster and more secure. VoIP will
use a host of technologies like voice encryption in future to ensure that data transfer across voice
sensitive servers happen

Robert Frost Research Papers
[Simply said], Robert Frost was an intriguing man. [In the span of his career], he was awarded
four Pulitzer prizes and recited a poem at John F. Kennedy s inauguration. Many of his poems had
underlying messages that would influence many people, even today. [In short], many of Frost s
poems give life lessons and enlighten the readers on the subjects of nature and life altogether,
making Robert Frostan outstanding poet in American History. Robert Lee Frost, named after the
famous Southern General Robert E. Lee, was brought into this world on March 26, 1874, in San
Francisco, California. He was born to William Frost, Jr. and Isabelle Frost. Throughout his
childhood, his only sibling was his sister, Jeanie. When Robert Frost was 11 years old,... Show more

The first theme, the outdoors, is best revealed in his poem The Road Not Taken. In this poem,
Frost uses a fork in a road to describe making decisions in life. Given the main idea, most likely the
poem is referring to Frost s decision to leave farming to follow poetry. Frost uses five lines of
poetry in each verse with similar length. Using the technique of inferring, analysts can conclude
that the poem relates to the theme of perfect decision making. It shows that decisions can not
always be perfect. Frost uses symbolism and imagery to display a visual representation of a
decision. For example, in lines 1 2 Frost uses the fork in the road in a forest as a reference to a
decision with two choices. He evaluates each side (trade offs in a decision) and chooses a side
as in lines 4 5. Shortly after, he describes the side he chose. He says the road was grassy and that
it was not worn. This creates not only a mental image but the realization that one side can
visually appear better than the other. On line 12, he states that there are leaves on the ground
which we can picture and also believe that it is autumn. From line 16 to 20, he repeats the first
stanza. This represents the reflection of his decision. Although he repeated the first stanza, Frost
removed the word yellow, that described the woods, and also said that he chose the one less
traveled, and he did not regret it. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I / I took the one less
traveled by, / And that has made all the difference (The Road Not Taken). Frost does this to show
that decision making can be hard, but it is best to evaluate and choose the decision that is best
suitable, not what everyone else chooses. Throughout this poem, Frost tries to bring attention to
questionable/uneducated decisions in life and make the best of them through his tone and word
choice. Frost s theme of imperfection can be seen either

Manipulation In Sister Carrie
The novel, Sister Carrie , is full of much drama and manipulation. The protagonist seeks living in
the high class way and is determined to do so. In order to get what she wants, she uses others to
get it for her. She is so obsessed with fame and wealth that she manipulates whoever and whenever
with her charm and grace.
The protagonist, Carrie, was an intriguing character. She appeared to be very emotional and
unstable in her feelings. She was over the moon at certain times of the day and depressed during
others, but one thing never changed: the way she felt about money. Carrie traveled to Chicago to
begin a life that she had always dreamed of. She wanted to buy expensive clothes and dine in the

lonely when she is famous as well. You would think since she had so many admirers, she would
feel loved and appreciated. However, the readers are left with Carrie rocking in her chair by herself
at the end of the novel. This small lesson teaches us that loneliness is not just sitting by yourself at
a lunch table or staying at home on a Friday night, but it can also come from a state of feeling

In the case Donoghue v Stevenson [1932] AC 562 , Lord Macmillan said in his judgment that That
duty, in my opinion, he owes to those whom he intends to consume his product. This concluded that
Stevenson did owed a duty of care to Donoghue even though she is not the one who bought the
drink but she is the one who drank it and that Stevenson did breached the duty of care between
them. Lord Atkin put forward the neighbour principle, which states that:
The rule that you are to love your neighbour becomes in law, you must not injure your neighbour...
You must take reasonable care to avoid acts or omissions which you can reasonably foresee would
be likely to injure your neighbour...
Therefore, the food vendor did owe a duty of care to Luke. Duty of care is the obligation
imposed on a person to take reasonable care to ensure that they do not cause another person to
suffer harm . Duty of care exists between a food vendor and the consumer. In this case, the food
vendor breached his duty of care to Luke. In the case Lynch v Lynch (1991) 25 NSWLR 411,

Examples Of Superior Court Cases
1.What type of cases you heard and how are District Court cases different from Superior Court

At Superior Court I went to courtroom 4C and 3C. I heard cases about felony such as breaking and

goods, and injury to property.
At District Court I went to courtroom 1C and 1D. I heard cases about misdemeanor such as assault

Any children that may be on the at risk register must be supported by both the school and outside
agencies that are appropriate to their needs. It is the professional adults responsibility to ensure
that children and young people are aware of acceptable and unacceptable behaviour. Question 2b
(Weighting: 0) An explanation of the importance of a child or young person centred approach. It
is critical that a person centred approach is always used with issues regarding safeguarding. The
most important aspect is ensuring that you listen to the child to gain all the relevant
information that will allow you to understand their needs. Where appropriate children should be
involved in any meetings that discuss them where you respect what they have to say and ask for
their opinions. Children and young people should be able to trust you so that they feel
comfortable talking to you about any issues. If a child trusts you, they are more likely to confide
in you and express their feelings therefore any actions that need to take place are more likely to
happen at a much greater pace. It will allow any authorities or organisations involved to gain vital
information and therefore reach a more suitable solution. If a child centred approach is not
followed, then major information could be missed. An example of this is when a little by; Daniel

The Use Of Ester Interchange Reactions During The...
PRODUCTION OF PET
We utilize the rapidity of ester interchange reactions during the production process. The acid
(terephthalic acid) is converted to the dimethyl ester, which is further purified by distillation or
crystallization. This is then allowed to react with the glycol by ester interchange. The reaction
generally is a two step reaction a. First, low MW polyester is made with excess of glycol to ensure
that the hydroxyl end groups are formed and then the temperature is raised and pressure is
decreased to facilitate condensation of these molecules by ester interchange simultaneously with the
loss of glycol. [7]
PET resins can be produced in two ways commercially. These two ways are by using one among
dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) or terephthalic acid (TPA) with Ethylene Glycol(EG). These
processes are generally known as the DMT Process and the TPA process. The intermediate bis (2
hydroxyethyl) terephthalate monomer (BHET) is produced in both these processes. This is
accompanied by methanol when using DMT and water when using TPA. The BHET intermediate
formed is polymerized with heat and catalyst to produce PET resins. The older route is the DMT
process. [8]
Process using DMT [9]
It is a two step process. The ratio of DMT to EG is generally 2:1. There is the possibility of using
either batch operation or continuous operations to produce PET using DMT. Some basic
differences between the batch operation and continuous operations:

Candide Vs. Blake s Songs Of Innocence

Candide compared to Blake s Songs of Innocence
In 1764 Voltaire wrote one of the world s greatest satires, known as Candide. Candide translates
from French as meaning innocent, which accurately describes the main character of this story.
Candide is living in the castle of Baron in Westphalia at this point, and has just become
romantically interested in the Barons sister, Cunegonde. After making advances towards this fine
maiden, and being caught in the act, Candide is exiled from the castle of Westphalia. Growing up
in this castle, Candide was taught by one of the greatest philosophers of this time, Dr. Pangloss.
This led to Candide believing the castle is the best place in the world for him to ... Show more

In Voltaires Candide , the message being portrayed is that all human beings have the ability to
set their own fate. Human beings are intelligent, adaptive organisms that have lived on this earth
for hundreds of thousands of years. Their destinies are not given to them, but earned throughout
their lives throughout challenging circumstances and experiences. Also portrayed in this story
is the idea that humans, deep down, represent what is good in the world, meaning we are the
ones making the world a better place to live. This idea is similarly shared in Blake s Songs of
Innocence when he advocates for the better treatment of children growing up in a world of
poverty. These ideas clash when you consider the lives of these poverty stricken children, and
how that will socially and mentally impact their lives and how they interact with the world.
Children growing up in such circumstances are more prone to violent and erratic behavior,
decreasing their chances at improving the world. When it comes down to it, this is the only world
we have, and we have to protect what we have, while constantly building onto its already in place
social establishments. Children that are born into poverty are not destined to be there, and with a
little push in the right direction can alter their futures and work for a better tomorrow. Candide
believed that everything in the world happens for a reason, giving children living in poverty a
whim of hope for the

The Economic Prosperity Of The United States Economy
The United States economy grew by an average of 4 percent per year between 1992 and 1999
(Pethokoukis, 2015).
The year 1991 began with the United States in a recession. Although short lived, ending in March,
it lasted nearly 9 months. Many factors played a role in this recession, beginning with the stock
market crashing in 1987. Another factor was the savings and loan crisis in 1989, which according
to Kimberly Amadeo was considered the greatest bank collapse since the Great Depression.
(Amadeo, n.p). The Gulf War, which began in 1990, was another factor contributing to this
recession causing an increase in gas and oil prices.
The economic prosperity of the 1990s was mainly due to the internet and the huge increase in
technology industries.
Personal computers and the Internet came of age, bringing a revolution in the efficiency of
processing information and making workers more productive. Manufacturing companies embraced
more efficient production methods (Jackson, 2007).
President Bill Clinton signed the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act in 1993, which raised taxes
and cut spending. Many credit this bill with helping set the stage for the large budget surpluses of
the late 1990s because the increased marginal tax rates generated billions of dollars in revenue for
the federal government.
From November 14 through November 19, 1995 and from December 16, 1995 to January 6, 1996

For the praise system to work, you will need to have a system that will work for the specific child
/children you will be using it on, whether at home or in schools.
D1 Using the naughty chair and reward sanction works is because you re taking them out of the
situation they were in and letting them reflect on their actions. When the child is put on the chair
the adult should be persistent, the longer the child plays up and the amount of time is restarted
the child will eventually give up, say sorry and then get the reward for doing time . Over time the
child will get so bored of being on the chair therefore meaning the amount of time will be
decreased, and if persistent in time the child won t play up as much as they did at the beginning.
Using the naughty char sanction is a better way of telling the child off, but in a way that they
understand why there on the chair, and for how long. If you were to send a child to their bedroom
or a separate room because of the naughty behaviour isn t teaching he child anything, especially
when they don t know how long or why they have being sent to the specific room. This could make
the child play up more as they would be upset, sometimes when children are upset they will tend to
play up, therefore meaning the naughty

Universal health care can benefit Americans to no end. Many countries have tried it out, and it
has succeeded. Universal health care does not mean everything is free. It isn t a hand out. It just
means that if you break a bone, or have a medical condition you get taken care of without having
thousands of dollars in medical expenses. I have known, personally, many people who couldn t
pay their medical expenses, including my own mother. Everyone needs health care, even if
currently they have no medical problem. It s crucial. About 33 million Americans did not have

Child Behavior And Language Assessment
The postulate we chose to research is from the social participation frame of reference. It states that
if routine is provided for difficult or disorganizing activities, children will develop calmer and more
cooperative behaviors during those activities (Olson, 2010). When researching for an article that
either supported or refuted the postulate, Family Centered Intervention for Young Children at risk
for Language and BehaviorProblems was found. The study was initiated by dividing forty one
randomly selected children, ages 3 5 years, with potential language and behavioral difficulties into
a control group or intervention group receiving adult support (Chao, Bryan, Burstein, Ergul, 2006).
The purpose was to explore the impact parent involvement and routines have on the development
of socially acceptable behavior and language in children (Chao et al., 2006). Parents were asked to
rate various aspects of their child, such as motor skills and behavior, then decide activities in the
ChildBehavior and Language Assessment (CBLA) to focus on and review intermittently in a log
to help conclude if the intervention was beneficial or not (Chao et al., 2006). The intervention was
based on the reviews and opinions of the parents and occasional professional observation. CBLA is
comprised of assessments of children s language and behavior, and routine based activities assisting
the establishment of language and ideal behavior (Chao et al., 2006). The

The Consumer Rights Of The Magna Carta
1. In addition to the basic consumer rights expressed in the consumer s Magna Carta, what other
expectations do you think consumer stakeholders have of business? The basic consumer rights
expressed in the Magna Carta include the right to safety; they want products to be free of
pesticides and the drugs we purchase and foods we consume are safe as well as product safety.
Secondly, there is the right to be informed, which refers to the right to know about a product, and
the use of a product, and this deals with advertisingand marketing. There is also the right to make
choices, meaning the competition makes sure there are other options available, and lastly, to be
heard, meaning consumers have the right to communicate with business concerning what they may
want in a product, and any complaints they may have about a product (Carroll, 2012, p. 392). In
addition to these rights, consumers demand fair value for money spent on a product; they also
expect a product to meet reasonable expectations, which means the product will as be safe, and
thoroughly tested according to regulation and if it is not safe, it should be taken off the market. In
addition, consumers expect complete disclosure of the descriptions and design of a product or
service, and that there is truth in advertisements (Carroll, 2012, p. 393).
2. What is your opinion of the consumerism movement? Is it alive and well or is it dead?
Provide evidence for your observations.

The People Of France And The National Assembly
The people of France have endured many hardships as the result of several conflicting ideas being
proposed about the National Assembly, our governing body, and its effectiveness in ruling our great
nation. The people of France want structure, they want a sound government who will do right by
them and will save them from starving with food and order.
As our great Nation continues this struggle for power in the National Assembly, more and more
rebellions have come to light. Just yesterday it was announced in the town s square the
Feuillants have split from the Jacobins out of fear. Fear of what the Jacobins are going to do
now that the king has fled his home and the people he governed. They claim the Jacobins are to
blood thirst and will continue to seek out the lives of those who oppose them. The Feuillants
were also afraid of the Jacobins who wanted to replace the king with another leader. Who knows
what the new leader will be like? How can we trust them to know what is good for us? If the
Jacobins want to replace our king then what else would they see changed? Will we see the loss of
private property? These drastic ideas upset us for they do not hold certainty.
Further in the future we will see that the Feuillants were correct in their decision to serve ties with
the radical hungry Jacobins. Having gained the ability to hold riots of their own from the good
people of France the Jacobins return favor by executing the surviving Conservatives. I agree with

maintenance and operations of the ship, known as the On Crew. The Off crew is in a phase known
as a Pre deployment period, away from the ship. During this period the off crew is training and
planning maintenance.
I relieved as the Engineer Officer during the Pre deployment training period. The Engineer Officer
is the third highest ranking officer on a submarine. His purview is the safe operation of the nuclear
reactor and the training of the personnel who operate the reactor. I received a great amount of
experience on my previous ship, so I thought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We were responsible for the lives of the people who worked with us and for us. At face value,
this is the least abstract of the responsibilities discussed. This is true when considering the
responsibility to train, equip, and lead them. The men and women who sacrifice by joining the
Naval Nuclear Power Program are willing to work beyond human measure. This is assuming they
ve been trained to do the job, have the equipment to do so, and have a plan to execute the work
required of them. Meeting expectation regarding these needs is simple. The more intangible
elements of being responsible for the lives of our sailors is where the true challenge

The Victorian Era And The Colonial Era
Savannah Workman
Professor Tehseen Ifran
English 202
31 January 2016
The Victorian Era The Victorian Era or the romantic period was a time in which Queen Victoria
ruled the throne. The Victorian period formally began in 1837 the year in which Victoria became
the Queen of England and ended in 1901 the year in which she was laid to rest. In this paper, I will
discuss Queen Victoria s life or what we all know to be The Victorian Era. I will highlight some of
the most powerful events that occurred during this time, the many reforms that were passed during
Queen Victoria s ruling, I will discuss the political, cultural, and social developments of this time
period. I will speak about some inventions of the Victorian Era, and the two main political parties
better known as the Tory and Whigs that were popular during this age. You will discover what
imperialism is, the commonwealth, The British Monarch and why and how Victoria was such a
remarkable monarch. I will even tell you some of the most interesting facts that I have learned to be
true about Queen Victoria.
First a little back history, May 24, 1819 marked a birth in history that most definitely did not go
unnoticed. Born into a royal family in Kensington Palace came the one and only Princess
Alexandrina Victoria. Victoria may have been born into royalty but, she actually grew up not being
surrounded by wealth. She grew up in a normal home instead of a palace. Little did the princess
know that she would become heir to the

Semester A Unit 3 Lesson 3
Semester A Unit 3 Lesson 3 Introduction and Objective Every text is written for a reason. Along
with the purpose of the text comes the central idea, or what the text is about. Think about the
different types of texts you have read in all your different classes. What was the idea behind
some of them? Today s lesson objective is: Students will be able to determine the central idea of
a text. Think about a text you have read recently. Was it a text on science or history? Maybe it
was a narrative? What was the idea behind the text? A text about the life of a slave might have
the central idea of the struggle of slavery. How would we find the central idea as we read? Maybe
we would make a list of details we saw in the text. We would certainly need to analyze the text for
context clues. Open your digital notebook and describe your strategy and the learning skills you
will use to succeed in this lesson. image: http://pixabay.com/en/bubble caucasian thought daydream
19329/ Instruction, Modeling and Student Activities The central idea is the central, linking element
of the story. The central theme connects together all the elements of the story that a author uses. To
put it in simple terms, the central idea is the big point that the writer is communicating. The central
idea cannot be identified with one word, but rather a statement or several words. What is it that
you are reading and what is it about? Think about what you have read so far in The Worst Hard

Pedagogy From The Greek Paidagogia Is The Art And...
Pedagogy from the greek Paidagogia is the art and science of education and the way we teach.
Interest in studying pedagogy and how effective pedagogy is transmitted has increased in recent
years and there are a multitude of sources that we can explore and analyse in order to answer that
question. (M. K. Smith 2012a). Educationis about giving time to discover new concepts whilst
being encouraged to do so in a social environment (M, K, Smith 2012b). Education in general is a
very practical activity and is concerned with changing old principles as well as teaching new
perceptions. Many people have the misconception that pedagogyis only about teaching, it has other
forms, a process of living and not a preparation of future living. (John Dewey 1963). The process
of education and teaching is carried out by several people during our lives, parents and carers,
work colleagues, acquaintances and friends and specialist educators (M. K. Smith 2012c).
A pedagogue in Ancient Greek society was a very important person. There was a noticeable
difference between a pedagogue and a teacher. A pedagogue was very much part of the
household of the young learner, often slaves who were trusted by their master to guide their
children through everyday life. The role of a pedagogue was to act as a companion, ensuring
safety and to act as a guardian during schooling. The pedagogue was responsible for most aspects
of the young child s life in the early years from aged seven to aged sixteen and they

Compare And Contrast The Odyssey And The Hobbit
Compare and Contrast As I read through Homer s The Odyssey, and J.R.R Tolkien s The Hobbit,
I immediately noticed several similarities between the two. Of course not only were their things
that they both shared in common, but also things that set them apart from each other. I mean what
kind of authors would they be if they wrote the same exact story. I hope that by reading this essay
you gain a better understanding of both books as well as what they have in common and what is
different between them. By the end you should be able to identify the similarities and differences
between both of their journeys as well as between most of the characters in this book. I d first like
to establish the theme between both of these amazing stories.... Show more content on

In The Hobbit the battle comes at the end of the book and in the Odyssey it is the battle of Troy that
occurs in the beginning of the story that starts our adventure. I think the major theme is that
through perseverance and hard work you can achieve great strides in completing your goal, and
that it is only by relying on others as well as yourself that those goal(s) can be achieved. During
these events we can understand some major plot similarities. Some shared plot points that I
discovered while reading. For instance both adventures are started by another source. In the
Odyssey Goddess Athena descends from the heavens after convincing her father, the Son of Cronus,
Zeus to allow Odysseus to return home. Once she arrives in Ithaca, she sets Telemachus on his
adventure to learn more information about his father whereabouts. This is like Gandalf the Gray
arriving in the Shire to set Bilbo on his mission with Thorin to reclaim the mountain from Smaug.
Another major part would be the obstacles that stand in their way. Mostly in the form of Monsters
and other beings. The Odyssey features some creatures famous in greek mythology such as the
Cyclops, Polyphemus, the beasts Scylla and Charybdis, the Sirens, and the God Helios and
Goddesses Circe and Calypso. The Hobbit features classic fantasy monsters like Giant Spiders,
Goblins, Worgs, an Elvish King, and of course a fire breathing Smaug. Both characters gain gifts

Comparing The Work Of Two Artists
This essay compares and contrasts the work of two artists working in Australia since the 1960s on
the themes of migration, diaspora or cross cultural heritage. It discusses themes explored in their
work and what issues these artists face in presenting their work in Australia? The first work by
Kathy Temin, My Monument: Black Garden , 2010/11 whose background as a descendant of the
Holocaust is compared and contrasted to Imants Tillers, Diaspora Series, 1992 96, a series created
partly in response to political events in Latvia, 1990. The works address issues of diaspora and
both artists revisit the past, returning to the land of their heritage. A sense of belonging is one of
the key issues they face as Australian artists. Temin understands the importance of objects as a
means of remembering another culture, a sense of displacement and loss, whilst Tillers senses a
connection with his inherited culture and upbringing. Their work addresses the issues and will be
discussed in more detail.
Contemporary artist, Kathy Temin, visited the concentration camps in Europe, her family history
dating back to the holocaust. Her father, a survivor of the Holocaust, was the only family member
to survive the onslaught. The thing about concentration camps is that they leave you feeling
overwhelmed and very small, both psychologically and physically. That s what the spaces are set
up to do. My Monument: Black Garden, is enormous in scale and size really matters in relation to

Plath s Effective Use of Characterization in The Initiation
Millicent faces conflict the entire story, whether it was internal or external. Conflict was necessary,
because it helps develop the characterization of Millicent and other characters in the story.
Characterization is necessary, because it portrays Millicent s feelings toward the initiation and the
character plot of other characters. Millicent is faced with a decision in the short story, whether to be
initiated or not. The use of character plot and theme play a role in the final decision that Millicent
makes. The author uses characterization and conflict effectively in the short story to create
character plot and theme. Characterization is effectively used to create character plot and portray
the theme of the story. This is effectively used by the author through Millicent s thoughts and
through the use of other characters. For instance, Millicent continually tells herself that what girl
wouldn t want to be elected like she was (Plath 240). She repeatedly tells herself ideas such as this,
because she is trying to convince herself that she is making the right choice. Another instance is
shown when Tracy tells Millicent that Millicent will change, whether she thinks she will or not
(240). Through the words Tracy states, Millicent realizes that she is lying to herself. Consequently,
through the earlier examples, the characterization of Millicent and other characters creates the
character plot in the story. The character plot in the story shows how Millicent has to make a

The Future of Scholarship Essay
The Future of Scholarship
Introduction:
The development and rapid movement in the field of technology has changed the face of modern
society from what it was twenty years ago. Information and communication technologies have
changed dramatically even in the last ten years. Electronic mail, listservs, and the Internet, to name
a few, are all parts of the new technology that is re defining scholarly communication. In her article
entitled Scholarly Communication Christine Borgman states that [r]esearch was clustered around
three variables: producers of the communication . . ., artifacts of communication . . . and
communication concepts. (146) The impact of the new communication technologies to scholarly
communication cannot be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The division of knowledge into disciplines, however, doesn t impose a pre ordained order and
doesn t easily transfer to the modern workplace. Many reports have stressed the importance of
incorporating interdisciplinarity into the undergraduate experience at the research university. (13)
Elsewhere she states that [d]isciplinarity is specialized scientific exploration of a particular
homogenous subject matter, producing new knowledge and making obsolete old knowledge.
Therefore, disciplinary activity results in continuous formulations and reformulations of the present
body of knowledge about the subject matter. (Coleman The New Scholarship 1) With this in mind,
interdisciplinarity occurs when curricula and/or research and innovation are organized around a
problem that is too broad to be studied/solved using just the methods and knowledge in one
discipline (Coleman Interdisciplinarity 9) When such a problem is addressed within the scholarly
community, interdisciplinarity leads directly into collaboration. Maria Bordons and Isabel Gomez
define scientific collaboration as two or more scientists working together on a joint research
project, sharing intellectual, economic and/or physical resources. (198) This definition however,
can easily be expanded to all areas of the scholarly community.
As more and more interdisciplinary and collaborative teaching and research occurs, there

The Pros And Cons Of Free Community College
Perhaps one of the greatest concerns that torments America s new generation is pursuing higher
education in order to make more money and while avoiding being in debt, decades after
graduation. This topic has become even more as tuition continues to rise and politicians are left to
ponder the best course of action to insure that the next generation of Americans is more educated
than the last. One particular solution was posed by former president, Barack Obama, who promoted
the idea of free community college. Although, it may not be the most direct or most elegant
solution, it would certainly be a push in the right direction. By making community college tuition
free nationwide, states would become more invested in accommodating the influx of students, lead
different school systems to compete by lowering tuition prices, and finally address America s
shortcoming in adults who possess more than just high schooldiploma. Since free tuition would
lead to overcrowding in schools, more schools would have to be built to compensate a blessing in
disguise. Here, in our lovely state of California, more prisons have been built within the last couple
of decades than universities. Thus, the state would become pressured into finally making up for
lost time and start chipping away at the deficit our state has accrued. In an article by US News
World Report regarding Obama s free community college idea, it was stated , If more middle class
students choose community college, it could create an environment where states step up on
funding. Moreover, the article continued to state the following: With a more diverse group of
students, community colleges could gain political capital and funding that goes with it.
Subsequently, education(that is financially feasible for this at or below the poverty line) is
essentially a ticket out of poverty, a chance to move forward and embody the American dream.
Ergo, (using California as part of this hypothetical scenario) by opening free community colleges,
more students are encouraged to attend, therefore more schools need to be built, and lastly, once
the schools are built more people will strive for a better life one devoid of being uneducated and at
a higher risk for criminality. The

Omnipotence and Atonement Through Self Reflective Narration At first glance, Atonement is a
war torn love story of two star crossed lovers and simultaneously the life long struggle of a girl
who feels she, and her lies, are responsible for keeping the couple apart. It is not until the end of
the novel that readers are told Briony Tallis, the aforementioned young troubled girl, wrote the
whole noveland changed the truths about the fates of the lovers, Robbie and Cecilia. This
revelation highlights the power of writers and their freedom to convey the truth or lies to readers.
Briony utilizes her power as a writer to construct her whole life s work to embody both lies to
appease reader interest. Ultimately, the novel is meant to expose... Show more content on

She even feels empowerment by hiding a box of small objects and memorabilia that she claims
are her secrets though they hold no real value and would not matter to anyone else either way.
When her play, The Tales of Arabella fails to succeed as she had anticipated, she feels as if she is
a failure and has no control, a concept she has not experienced before. As seen through her
mental depiction of Arabella and disappointment when Lola had assumed the role and had paled
in comparison to her standards, Briony suffers from an inability to grasp reality and maintains
exacerbated views of what things should be like and how she is fully capable of keeping things
are under control. This necessary sense for control extends past her dawn of her selfhood into
her adulthood and end of her life when she is still trying to make amends with Robbie and
Cecilia (295). Briony fails to separate herself from her fictional world and face reality or grasp
the fact that she would not be able to control and fix everything in what she feels is real life. She
loses her ambiance of innocence and develops feelings of adult emotion upon revelations
between Robbie and Cecilia (106). The first of these sightings being the two estranged lovers
quarreling outside before Cecilia strips down and dives into the fountain, in search of a broken
piece of her father s vase. This is only one of the times that the reality is unbeknownst to Briony

Witchcraft Essay
Witchcraft is a fascinating subject that comes out of many regions of the world. There have been
time periods in which witchcraft was a prominent feature in society, and there has been times
when it has died down. One of the most interesting things about witchcraft is how it has
physically changed, how the concept of witchcraft has changed, and how people perceive and
view it has changed over centuries. What many people do not know is that witchcraft is actually
still practiced today in the US and all over the world. After a Religious Identification Survey by
the City University of New York in 2001, it was found that Wicca, which is what current day
witches call themselves, was the country s fastest growing religion, with 134,000 people,... Show

This was largely meant to discourage people for practicing these villainous acts of treachery. The
bible even goes as straightforward as to say Do not practice divination or sorcery (Leviticus 19:26).
Many other primary and secondary sources cite the bible for their argument, in fact arguments are
largely based around them.
An example of using a bible to prove a point is on a website called Harry Potter Power. It is about
witchcraft in terms modern era literature. Many authors such as JK Rowling have written using
heavily influenced witchcraft in their work, and it is essential to the plot of the book. C.S. Lewis
has similar magical stories, but he does not think witchcraft to be good, or valid. He says, People
all across America are being deluged with books on witchcraft. And the situation is going to get
worse, not better. For witchcraft brings you into contact with demons (Harry Potter Power/destroy).

Analysis Of The Poem Tears Of The Giants
BASIC FACTS The oil on canvas Tears of Joy in the Garden of Giants by Michael Zancan was
created in south west France back in January of 2011. This surreal artist plunges into his fantasies
creating mystical worlds filled with vivid hues and outstanding details. A long process awaited this
particular piece. During one of his travels, the first draft got misplaced at a metro station for many
months. Filled with hope, Zancan continued his research of varying structural forms that 1900 s
dome glasshouses used in order to incorporate them into his masterpiece. Fortunately, he found
architectural inspiration within the walls of The Grand Palais in Paris. A digital paintingwas drafted
using the old sketch he had initially lost in the metro and on, December 2005 the first draft was
ready for critique. This digital prototype served as a guide for the 120 by 200 cm oil on canvas.
On to the drawing board! Fascinated by the vivid world, Zancan gave two additional coats of oil
on the art to enhance the painting s contrast before its final reveal. To this day, the original canvas
remains by romantic s side in France. Zancan is strategic, he wants to increase his popularity seeing
that, his art s value will growth along with it. In addition, high quality prints can be obtained and
purchased through his web page.
Like a prima ballerina whom incorporates strength and beauty with every move she makes, Zancan
conveys his very essence within every brush stroke. Tears of

Analysis Of Dutchman And The Ethics Of Living Jim Crow
When analyzing the works Dutchman and The Ethics of Living Jim Crow the message the
authors are trying to convey become clear through their effects on the reader. In my essay I will
explain how the authors use literary terms to help the reader gain a better knowledge in their
work. In Amira Baraka s work Dutchman symbolism has a major effect on the overall message
as a whole. Although, we see many forms of symbolism there are two that really jump out to me.
First, when Lula murders Clay. That to me is a symbol of the racism and what it does to its
victims especially back in that time period. Clay puts in a great effort to fit in with the people
around him and to be accepted and saw as equal as anyone else, but his... Show more content on

The train in the story may be a symbol of the life of a black man in today s society. We live make
a mistake or fall into an unknown trap then you die. Basically, opportunities and chances don t
come often for the minority male species. The long train ride allows a man to feel the freedom
he so desires and ends once that freedom is no longer available. On the other hand Richard
Wright writes about life experiences living under the Jim Crow laws. The informative and
chronological style of writing Richard uses deeply affects the reader while taking in what is really
happening during this time. He begins by giving us the harsh reality behind the racism he s
dealing with. Wright begins by describing the land to show us how not only did the South have a
plethora of racist acts but, the towns were also set up in a racist manner. Wright linked anything
green to white people because the only green in town was found where the white people lived.
Blacks didn t get quite good as their yards were filled with cinders. The blacks and whites were
also separated by railroad tracks. Of course, the blacks were behind the railroad tracks maybe to
emphasize white supremacy. The Jim Crow laws simply meant that white people could treat
blacks any way they wanted to and blacks couldn t retaliate. We received this message very clearly
when Richard began to talk about the play wars he and his friends had

Directly impacting on the social, economic and environmental structures of the Gold Coast.
The rising temperatures of global warming has initiated the melting of ice sheets, contributing to
global sea level rise. Sea levels are expected to rise more than a metre beyond existing stable tidal
range positions, resulting in new inundation of land and shifts in shorelines. Inundation and coastal
instability because of erosion, exaggerated by the extreme weather events caused by climate change
, is a key risk for coastal areas such as the Gold Coast.

  • 2. Were The Patriots And Loyalists Justified In the past, while learning about the American Revolution I had always thought of America as a united front. The war between the Patriots and Loyalists could even be compared to the war between America and Britain. The Patriots were not justified in abusing and expelling the Loyalists. In the actions the Patriots took against the Loyalists, they violated their unalienable rights, these actions also allowed for history to repeat itself through the civil war in 1861. The Patriots fought for an admirable cause, as stated in the Declaration of Independence they believed in fighting for the unalienable rights: that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (Ford.153). However, they took these unalienable rights away from the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1861, America entered a war within itself, the American Civil War. Both conflicts began in a similar fashion. In both situations, a party felt like they were being muffled by the government. In response to their feelings, both groups of rebels decided that they could survive on their own. This caused friction within both parties and a disconnect between the government and those who thoroughly believed in its practice and the governed and those who believed that there was more that could be done. While some believed that it was best to see the government through, it is understandable to see where some might find it more appealing to demand change. It is interesting to ponder an alternate end to the American Revolution, while an accent might be nice, we would live in world where even the simplest necessities would be heavily taxed and America would no longer be a safe haven for those seeking life, love and the pursuit of happiness, like Thomas Paine stated in Common Sense This new world hath been the asylum for the persecuted lovers of civil and religious liberty from every part of Europe (Paine.150). Both groups of people during both periods of war wanted the best possible outcome for America, unfortunately that was taken too far when Patriots started abusing Loyalists and expelling them from the ... • 3. Mental Health Essay Overall feedback MightSight was an interesting disruptive idea. The mental health market is growing and is continuing to be a hot topic, an app that places control in the hands of the customer sounds viable. Group 37 made it clear how Millennials would feel about their data being available on mobile, but I would have been interested to understand how Group 37 would have overcome the obstacle, via their branding, about how people would feel about being implanted with a chip. What went well? в—ЏI felt a clear gap in the market was identified for a personalised mental health App, however, supported evidence was lacking and would be been helpful. в—ЏIt was clear that the app would disrupt the market, giving customers control their own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was a shame they were presented without narration, as I felt they could have made some substantial claims about how the App would match John and Marie s requirements. Marie s persona mentioned that she never had the time to go see a psychiatrist, however, for the chip to be implanted in the customer they would need to find time to see their physician. I think these challenges could have been covered if the slide would have been narrated. в—ЏEarly adopters were depicted in the Business Model Canvas, but it would have been great to hear why Medical Students and young music and sports stars would have taken to the App and why they would have been advocates of the business. в—ЏAs specified in the proposal, narration wasn t recorded over every single slide. в—ЏThe brand mission and purpose were unique, but I felt it would have been interesting to understand how MindSight would have been positioned and would appeal to the target audience, creating an authentic experience. The slide was cut off at the end, which again was a shame as I wanted to hear more. How could this have been improved? в—ЏMore supporting evidence about how the App would disrupt the market would have made the proposal more compelling. в—ЏI liked the idea of the content marketing strategy, I could how the videos of the personas would be engaging. It would have been great to see some more examples of the social content with an explanation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Peloponnesian War and the Decline of Leadership in... The Peloponnesian War and the Decline of Leadership in Athens Thucydides set out to narrate the events of what he believed would be a great war one requiring great power amassed on both sides and great states to carry out. Greatness, for Thucydides, was measured most fundamentally in capital and military strength, but his history delves into almost every aspect of the war, including, quite prominently, its leaders. In Athensespecially, leadership was vital to the war effort because the city s leaders were chosen by its people and thus, both shaped Athens and reflected its character during their lifetimes. The leaders themselves, however, are vastly different in their abilities and their effects on the city. Thucydides featured both... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Greeks practiced what was essentially a policy of strict isolationism fighting when they felt their own territorial holdings being violated but refraining from complex inter Hellenic alliances and subjugation for profit. The navies, and especially their role in the Persian Wars changed all this. Equally significant in containing Greek power early on was the tradition of rule by tyrants, who, as a result of their habit of providing simple for themselves...made safety the great aim of their policy, and prevented anything great proceeding from them... (I.17). Here too, however, a sweeping change took place just before the Persian invasion as Sparta put down Greek tyrants and set up democracy in Athens. It was these two significant changes the construction of a navy in Athens and the institution of democracy as its government that put Athens in a position to assume the role of major Mediterranean power, and it was the Persian invasion that gave it the chance to take advantage of that position (I.18). The Athenians at the Second Lacedaemonian Congress contended that it was inevitable that Athens would take such a chance when offered, arguing that it has always been the law that the weaker should be subject to the stronger (I.76.2). Indeed, the primacy of self interest in determining the actions of individuals and cities is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Comparison of Child Characters in Salinger s Teddy and... In J.D. Salinger s Nine Stories there are many tales centered on children, who are often depicted as a symbol of hope and connected with the values that stand in contrast to the ones typical of the adults corrupted by materialism. In my essay, I would like to concentrate on the portrayal of children in A Perfect Day for Bananafish and Teddy . Even though the way these characters are depicted is similar, a child protagonist in each of the stories is representative of different things. While Sibyl can be seen as a prototype of a childlike innocence, purity and simplicity, Teddy can hardly be considered a prototypical innocent child. Despite the simplicity of Sibyl s thinking, her presence and behavior help the reader draw many complex... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The one trait of personality that Teddy and Sibyl share is the kindness. The kindness is evidence in both, Sibyl s treatment of Seymour and Teddy s behavior. When Teddy s sister tells the young boy that he is the stupidest person [she] ever met (176), Teddy kindly defends and reassures the young boy. In his journal it is discovered that all Teddy writes about are small kind acts that he wishes to do for other people: he wants to find and wear his father s dog tags because he thinks it will please him; he wants to write a condolence letter to someone who is ill, and he wishes to be nicer to [the] librarian (180 1).Sybil s presence and behavior leads one to many conclusions about the main adult in the story, Seymour Glass. Seymour s motives and values are clearly and concisely revealed through interaction with Sybil. Again, the color blue is used to show innocence. When Seymour takes off his robe to go in the water, it is discovered that his shoulders were white and narrow, and his trunks were royal blue (Saliger 13). Even by his name (Seymour see more), it is suggested that he is much closer to the nature of a child than to the materialistic adult world, he sees in life much more than they do. • 6. Nobody s Son Is The Winner Of The American Book And... Nobody s son is the winner of the American book and translated around the world. Luis Alberto Urrea is the author. He wrote several categories of books. He is a member of the Latino Literature Hall of Fame. When he was a child, he lived in neighbor where there was racial discrimination. His mom was a segregationist, so she abandoned him to live with his father. His father wanted to teach him to be a real man. However, his instructions were too aggressive. Therefore, learning something quickly from critical situations, forcing kids to do some dislikes to stop crying, enhancing patience from facing injuries, and being a bad model for kids are too offensive to instruct kids to be a real man.To instruct children to be able to do something rapidly by practicing in a dangerous situation does not mean to be a real man. Parents might let their children learn how to train some abilities by themselves, but parents should not teach their children in a dangerous situation because children cannot help themselves yet. For instance, Luis s dad teaches him how to ride a bike like a real man. He removes training wheels and tells Luis to ride a bike on the road, which many cars are driving. Luis falls down on the road with blood on his arm, and a driver honks a horn. This might be Luis s luckiness that the car does not hit him. A critical situation cannot prove to be a real man. His father may misunderstand that practicing in a terrible situation is what a real man ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Character Analysis Of Harold And Maude And Before Sunrise Although they are rather wildly different films in regards to their characters and plot, there is a similar yearning for purpose and search for life s meaning at the heart of both Harold and Maude (1971) and Before Sunrise (1995). As romantic films, both feature a deep character study of its two leads Harold and Maudein the former, and Jesse and Celine in the latter and it is through the exploration of both films characters as well as the development of their relationship with one another that this pursuit of a greater understanding of life emerges. The atypical styles of both films also influence the way in which certain themes are portrayed as well as the way in which its messages are presented. Harold and Maude is particularly subversive in its plot and individual characters, featuring a strangely endearing romancebetween a young depressed man and an 80 year old enlightened woman. Before Sunrise, on the other hand, is not as strikingly odd in its plot or its leads, but rather in its way of portraying romance in film, as through their long and winding conversations, Jesse and Celine fall in love while spending only a brief time in the company of one another but also knowing each other s most intimate thoughts and feelings. In Harold and Maude, Maude proves to be the driving force of Harold s awakening. Consequently, her character initiates Harold s and the audience s embarkation on a search for purpose and meaning as the events of the film transpire. Maude s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. How Did Rachel Carson Use To Change The World When the Pen Was Mightier Than the Sword: Rachel Carson s Use of Prose to Change the World The famous author and ecologist, Rachel Carson, singlehandedly managed to start an environmental movement with the power of her writing. The sharp contrast of the beauty that she described and the disaster that was happening prompts many a reader to take up arms and defend the world that they live in. Rachel used her writing talent to emphasize the contrast between how the world used to be and what it had and will become. Her powerful words created images within the readers minds of the horrors to come if nothing happens, by giving us glances of what had already happened. In her revolutionary book Silent Spring, the beauty of her prose juxtaposed by the evil of her topic makes the book extraordinary. Her use of beautiful descriptions of the natural world contrast with the destruction that pesticides can cause. It makes us realize that the world around us truly is beautiful but can be destroyed easily. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though Carson did not want to write for a living, both reading and writing were a big part of her life from an early age. She was a quiet child who preferred reading over socializing and also submitted articles to the children s literary magazine St. Nicholas. After a college education at John Hopkins, she had to give up her dream of getting a doctorate once the Depression hit and her father passed away, in order to support her family (Linda Lear 23). Epistemology And Its Impact On Human Relations Existence in this sophisticated world as the habitat of human life has been faced with numerous challenges exhibited in policies that govern relationships. Human variations in perception of various life concepts are navigated by understanding, knowledge and the meaning attached to issues. Well, I ll tell you why, because Nathaniel Bacon is a very important history character that we all need to know about. Bacon was born in England in 1674 to the famous Sir Francis Bacon, the lord chancellor of England from 1618 1621 ( Encylopedia Britannica ). Mr. Bacon arrived in North America in 1674 when his wife, Elizabeth s, father opposed their marriage. Bacon got land along the James River in Virginia, and in less than a year, Bacon was made the governor of council of Virginia with some family pull. Nathaniel Bacon was the Governor, William Berkeleys cousin by marriage. ( Encylopedia Britannica ) Before Bacon arrived in 1674, frontier families were just barely getting by. The weather was bad leading to less crop harvest and taxes were high. The colonists grew angry with the government, saying the neighboring Indians should be removed ( Saint or Sinner? ). The colonists at once take the reins and form an army. However, Gov. Berkeley says they must not have a commander, or go against the Indians ( First American Rebel ). Jessica Stopa In the paper titled Factory Farming: The Truth about the Poultry Industry by Jessica Stopa, she informs readers about the malpractices of chicken livestock in the food industry in comparison to how traditional agriculture practices were previously before the industrialization age. Her paper was intended to speak to American food consumers and bring to light or inform about the severity of industrialized farming practices. The writing was prompted by one of Ms. Stopa s english classes and the intention of this work is to rhetorically analyze her credentials. She incorporates a heavy amount of logos into her work to backup her own logic, but also includes bits of pathos about the treatment of chicken and ethos by referring a figure who operates a local farm. Stopa strategically begins her first few paragraphs with multiple entries of logos to present the strength of her point. Each transition is crafted in chronological order of how an industrial chicken farm operates, including how the poultry are manipulated and the effects on the end product. Smouldering is defined as a self sustaining exothermic reaction in which the heat released by surface oxidation causes pyrolysis of the unaffected fuel adjacent to the reaction zone, which in turn yields a rigid char which will subsequently undergo surface oxidation citep{smith2006springer}. The initiation of furniture fires by weak heat sources, such as, a cigarette or a short circuited wire, and the flaming combustion of biomass occurring in bushfires behind the flaming front are two common examples of smouldering combustion citep{rein2009smouldering}. extcolor{red}{$%$ What are differences among gasification, thermal degradation and smouldering?} % What are differences among gasification, thermal degradation and smouldering? When referring to smouldering, it is important to understand the differences between smouldering and other non flaming reactions which involve external heat flux, such as gasification and thermal decomposition. Gasification and thermal decomposition typically involve little or no oxidation reaction and hence are endothermic; while smouldering involves both endothermic and exothermic reactions citep{ohlemiller2002chapter}. If smouldering reaction is self sustained, then the endothermic reactions are the driving force for the smouldering. Char oxidation is the principle heat source in most of self sustained smouldering; therefore, any material that forms char during thermal decomposition has the potential for ... • 17. Voice Over Internet Protocol Term Paper Introduction Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is a technology that offers voice communications using the existing Internet protocols. Over the years the Internet has developed as a very cheap medium that has been used to send electronic mails and files across the globe. VoIP extends this concept and provides the facility to send voice data between people using the IP framework. Since the Internet is a cheap medium, enabling voice services through it will effectively cut costs that are normally encountered in making calls through normal telephone lines. This would mean that people across the world can talk to each other at a fraction of the cost that they could be spending when they use normal telephone lines. This is exactly what makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How VoIP functions At the basic level, VoIP functions much like the common Internet services that are available today. Voice data is received at one end of the IP network and is compressed, digitized, and broken down into data packets with unique serial numbers. A universal lookup table or an IP reference table helps the server at the call originating end to find out the IP of the receiver to whom the call is placed. Once the IP is resolved, data is sent to the destination IP much in the same fashion that emails and web data is transferred across the network. The data packets that are received at the destination end is collected, arranged according to sequence numbers, and converted back to analog signals so that the receiver can hear the voice. VoIP is possible between two computers, between two telephones that are connected to a network or even between a computer and a telephone. This means that a person with a PC can originate a call to a landline or vice versa [Jain, 2004] The advantages of VoIP В• Voice and Data Integration VoIP is a definite step towards integration of voice and data; a need that has been increasingly researched since the last few decades. Integration of voice and data would mean that data transfer can be controlled effectively thereby making data manipulation faster and more secure. [In short], many of Frost s poems give life lessons and enlighten the readers on the subjects of nature and life altogether, making Robert Frostan outstanding poet in American History. Robert Lee Frost, named after the famous Southern General Robert E. Lee, was brought into this world on March 26, 1874, in San Francisco, California. In this poem, Frost uses a fork in a road to describe making decisions in life. Given the main idea, most likely the poem is referring to Frost s decision to leave farming to follow poetry. Frost uses five lines of poetry in each verse with similar length. Using the technique of inferring, analysts can conclude that the poem relates to the theme of perfect decision making. It shows that decisions can not always be perfect. Frost uses symbolism and imagery to display a visual representation of a decision. For example, in lines 1 2 Frost uses the fork in the road in a forest as a reference to a decision with two choices. He evaluates each side (trade offs in a decision) and chooses a side as in lines 4 5. Shortly after, he describes the side he chose. He says the road was grassy and that it was not worn. This creates not only a mental image but the realization that one side can visually appear better than the other. On line 12, he states that there are leaves on the ground which we can picture and also believe that it is autumn. From line 16 to 20, he repeats the first stanza. This represents the reflection of his decision. Although he repeated the first stanza, Frost removed the word yellow, that described the woods, and also said that he chose the one less traveled, and he did not regret it. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I / I took the one less traveled by, / And that has made all the difference (The Road Not Taken). Frost does this to show that decision making can be hard, but it is best to evaluate and choose the decision that is best suitable, not what everyone else chooses. Throughout this poem, Frost tries to bring attention to questionable/uneducated decisions in life and make the best of them through his tone and word choice. Frost s theme of imperfection can be seen either ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. The Use Of Ester Interchange Reactions During The... PRODUCTION OF PET We utilize the rapidity of ester interchange reactions during the production process. The acid (terephthalic acid) is converted to the dimethyl ester, which is further purified by distillation or crystallization. This is then allowed to react with the glycol by ester interchange. The reaction generally is a two step reaction a. First, low MW polyester is made with excess of glycol to ensure that the hydroxyl end groups are formed and then the temperature is raised and pressure is decreased to facilitate condensation of these molecules by ester interchange simultaneously with the loss of glycol. [7] PET resins can be produced in two ways commercially. These two ways are by using one among dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) or terephthalic acid (TPA) with Ethylene Glycol(EG). These processes are generally known as the DMT Process and the TPA process. The intermediate bis (2 hydroxyethyl) terephthalate monomer (BHET) is produced in both these processes. This is accompanied by methanol when using DMT and water when using TPA. The BHET intermediate formed is polymerized with heat and catalyst to produce PET resins. The older route is the DMT process. [8] Process using DMT [9] It is a two step process. The ratio of DMT to EG is generally 2:1. Candide is living in the castle of Baron in Westphalia at this point, and has just become romantically interested in the Barons sister, Cunegonde. After making advances towards this fine maiden, and being caught in the act, Candide is exiled from the castle of Westphalia. Human beings are intelligent, adaptive organisms that have lived on this earth for hundreds of thousands of years. Their destinies are not given to them, but earned throughout their lives throughout challenging circumstances and experiences. Also portrayed in this story is the idea that humans, deep down, represent what is good in the world, meaning we are the ones making the world a better place to live. This idea is similarly shared in Blake s Songs of Innocence when he advocates for the better treatment of children growing up in a world of poverty. These ideas clash when you consider the lives of these poverty stricken children, and how that will socially and mentally impact their lives and how they interact with the world. Children growing up in such circumstances are more prone to violent and erratic behavior, decreasing their chances at improving the world. • 27. The Economic Prosperity Of The United States Economy The United States economy grew by an average of 4 percent per year between 1992 and 1999 (Pethokoukis, 2015). The year 1991 began with the United States in a recession. Although short lived, ending in March, it lasted nearly 9 months. Many factors played a role in this recession, beginning with the stock market crashing in 1987. Another factor was the savings and loan crisis in 1989, which according to Kimberly Amadeo was considered the greatest bank collapse since the Great Depression. (Amadeo, n.p). The Gulf War, which began in 1990, was another factor contributing to this recession causing an increase in gas and oil prices. The economic prosperity of the 1990s was mainly due to the internet and the huge increase in technology industries. Personal computers and the Internet came of age, bringing a revolution in the efficiency of processing information and making workers more productive. Manufacturing companies embraced more efficient production methods (Jackson, 2007). President Bill Clinton signed the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act in 1993, which raised taxes and cut spending. Many credit this bill with helping set the stage for the large budget surpluses of the late 1990s because the increased marginal tax rates generated billions of dollars in revenue for the federal government. From November 14 through November 19, 1995 and from December 16, 1995 to January 6, 1996 the U.S. government was shut down as a result of a budgetary impasse between Congress and ... For the praise system to work, you will need to have a system that will work for the specific child /children you will be using it on, whether at home or in schools. D1 Using the naughty chair and reward sanction works is because you re taking them out of the situation they were in and letting them reflect on their actions. When the child is put on the chair the adult should be persistent, the longer the child plays up and the amount of time is restarted the child will eventually give up, say sorry and then get the reward for doing time . Over time the child will get so bored of being on the chair therefore meaning the amount of time will be decreased, and if persistent in time the child won t play up as much as they did at the beginning. Using the naughty char sanction is a better way of telling the child off, but in a way that they understand why there on the chair, and for how long. If you were to send a child to their bedroom or a separate room because of the naughty behaviour isn t teaching he child anything, especially when they don t know how long or why they have being sent to the specific room. This could make the child play up more as they would be upset, sometimes when children are upset they will tend to play up, therefore meaning the naughty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Interest in studying pedagogy and how effective pedagogy is transmitted has increased in recent years and there are a multitude of sources that we can explore and analyse in order to answer that question. (M. K. Smith 2012a). Educationis about giving time to discover new concepts whilst being encouraged to do so in a social environment (M, K, Smith 2012b). Education in general is a very practical activity and is concerned with changing old principles as well as teaching new perceptions. Many people have the misconception that pedagogyis only about teaching, it has other forms, a process of living and not a preparation of future living. (John Dewey 1963). The process of education and teaching is carried out by several people during our lives, parents and carers, work colleagues, acquaintances and friends and specialist educators (M. K. Smith 2012c). Millicent is faced with a decision in the short story, whether to be initiated or not. The use of character plot and theme play a role in the final decision that Millicent makes. The author uses characterization and conflict effectively in the short story to create character plot and theme. Characterization is effectively used to create character plot and portray the theme of the story. This is effectively used by the author through Millicent s thoughts and through the use of other characters. For instance, Millicent continually tells herself that what girl wouldn t want to be elected like she was (Plath 240). • 47. The Pros And Cons Of Free Community College Perhaps one of the greatest concerns that torments America s new generation is pursuing higher education in order to make more money and while avoiding being in debt, decades after graduation. This topic has become even more as tuition continues to rise and politicians are left to ponder the best course of action to insure that the next generation of Americans is more educated than the last. One particular solution was posed by former president, Barack Obama, who promoted the idea of free community college. Although, it may not be the most direct or most elegant solution, it would certainly be a push in the right direction. By making community college tuition free nationwide, states would become more invested in accommodating the influx of students, lead different school systems to compete by lowering tuition prices, and finally address America s shortcoming in adults who possess more than just high schooldiploma. Since free tuition would lead to overcrowding in schools, more schools would have to be built to compensate a blessing in disguise. Here, in our lovely state of California, more prisons have been built within the last couple of decades than universities. Thus, the state would become pressured into finally making up for lost time and start chipping away at the deficit our state has accrued. In an article by US News World Report regarding Obama s free community college idea, it was stated , If more middle class students choose community college, it could create an environment where states step up on funding. Moreover, the article continued to state the following: With a more diverse group of students, community colleges could gain political capital and funding that goes with it. Subsequently, education(that is financially feasible for this at or below the poverty line) is essentially a ticket out of poverty, a chance to move forward and embody the American dream. Ergo, (using California as part of this hypothetical scenario) by opening free community colleges, more students are encouraged to attend, therefore more schools need to be built, and lastly, once the schools are built more people will strive for a better life one devoid of being uneducated and at a higher risk for criminality. • 49. Witchcraft Essay Witchcraft is a fascinating subject that comes out of many regions of the world. There have been time periods in which witchcraft was a prominent feature in society, and there has been times when it has died down. One of the most interesting things about witchcraft is how it has physically changed, how the concept of witchcraft has changed, and how people perceive and view it has changed over centuries. What many people do not know is that witchcraft is actually still practiced today in the US and all over the world. After a Religious Identification Survey by the City University of New York in 2001, it was found that Wicca, which is what current day witches call themselves, was the country s fastest growing religion, with 134,000 people,... The bible even goes as straightforward as to say Do not practice divination or sorcery (Leviticus 19:26). Many other primary and secondary sources cite the bible for their argument, in fact arguments are largely based around them. An example of using a bible to prove a point is on a website called Harry Potter Power. It is about witchcraft in terms modern era literature. Many authors such as JK Rowling have written using heavily influenced witchcraft in their work, and it is essential to the plot of the book. C.S. Lewis has similar magical stories, but he does not think witchcraft to be good, or valid. He says, People all across America are being deluged with books on witchcraft. And the situation is going to get worse, not better. For witchcraft brings you into contact with demons (Harry Potter Power/destroy). One might think that a website with the name, Harry Potter Power would talk of the power a fantastic book can imbue someone with, but in reality, the website talks about how books such as ... • 50. Analysis Of The Poem Tears Of The Giants BASIC FACTS The oil on canvas Tears of Joy in the Garden of Giants by Michael Zancan was created in south west France back in January of 2011. This surreal artist plunges into his fantasies creating mystical worlds filled with vivid hues and outstanding details. A long process awaited this particular piece. During one of his travels, the first draft got misplaced at a metro station for many months. Filled with hope, Zancan continued his research of varying structural forms that 1900 s dome glasshouses used in order to incorporate them into his masterpiece. Fortunately, he found architectural inspiration within the walls of The Grand Palais in Paris. A digital paintingwas drafted using the old sketch he had initially lost in the metro and on, December 2005 the first draft was ready for critique. This digital prototype served as a guide for the 120 by 200 cm oil on canvas. On to the drawing board! Fascinated by the vivid world, Zancan gave two additional coats of oil on the art to enhance the painting s contrast before its final reveal. To this day, the original canvas remains by romantic s side in France. Zancan is strategic, he wants to increase his popularity seeing that, his art s value will growth along with it. • 51. Analysis Of Dutchman And The Ethics Of Living Jim Crow When analyzing the works Dutchman and The Ethics of Living Jim Crow the message the authors are trying to convey become clear through their effects on the reader. In my essay I will explain how the authors use literary terms to help the reader gain a better knowledge in their work. In Amira Baraka s work Dutchman symbolism has a major effect on the overall message as a whole. Although, we see many forms of symbolism there are two that really jump out to me. First, when Lula murders Clay. That to me is a symbol of the racism and what it does to its victims especially back in that time period. Clay puts in a great effort to fit in with the people around him and to be accepted and saw as equal as anyone else, but his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The train in the story may be a symbol of the life of a black man in today s society. We live make a mistake or fall into an unknown trap then you die. Basically, opportunities and chances don t come often for the minority male species. The long train ride allows a man to feel the freedom he so desires and ends once that freedom is no longer available. On the other hand Richard Wright writes about life experiences living under the Jim Crow laws. The informative and chronological style of writing Richard uses deeply affects the reader while taking in what is really happening during this time. He begins by giving us the harsh reality behind the racism he s dealing with. Wright begins by describing the land to show us how not only did the South have a plethora of racist acts but, the towns were also set up in a racist manner. Wright linked anything green to white people because the only green in town was found where the white people lived. Blacks didn t get quite good as their yards were filled with cinders. The blacks and whites were also separated by railroad tracks. Of course, the blacks were behind the railroad tracks maybe to emphasize white supremacy. The Jim Crow laws simply meant that white people could treat blacks any way they wanted to and blacks couldn t retaliate. We received this message very clearly when Richard began to talk about the play wars he and his friends had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Controversy Of Edward Jenner s Vaccine The history of vaccinations begin with Edward Jenner, the country doctor from Gloucestershire who found, growing on cows, a nearly harmless virus the protected people from smallpox. Jenner s vaccine was safer, more reliable, and more durable than variolation, and it is still the only vaccine to have eliminated its reason for being in 1980, when the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the disease extinct. For nearly a century and a half, smallpoxwas the only vaccine routinely administered, and it saved millions of lives . But the controversy that marked the return of the vaccine, amid bioterrorism hysteria in 2002, was only the latest twist in the remarkable, mysterious life of vaccines. Climate change is directly linked to: Rising sea and air temperatures Rising sea levels Extreme weather events Directly impacting on the social, economic and environmental structures of the Gold Coast. Inundation and coastal instability because of erosion, exaggerated by the extreme weather events caused by climate change , is a key risk for coastal areas such as the Gold Coast.
