International Business Transactions Have Many Elements...
Introduction Those organizations wishing to engage in international business transactions have many
elements they must consider. One of these elements is that of foreign exchange rates, the rate at which
one currency can be converted into another (Hill, 2014, p. 296). While a company may be located in
the United States, they may engage in commerce with organizations in foreign markets that require
payment in their domestic currencies. Organizations must pay careful attention to these exchange
rates, as their fluctuations can significantly impact the costs of doing international business, as
demonstrated in the first section. While exchange rates are determined by the supply and demand of
currencies on the foreign exchange market ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Identify the spot and forward exchange rates between the two currencies. What factors influence your
decision to use each? Which one would you choose? How many dollars must you spend to acquire the
amount of yen required? This organization wishes to limit its transaction exposure when paying its
Japanese supplier in six months. This exposure reflects how the cost of this transaction is affected by
foreign exchange price fluctuations (p. 313). Because the exchange rate is expected to fluctuate during
this period, the ¥1,000,000 will payment will cost the organization differing amounts depending on
which exchange rate is used for the conversion of the domestic currency into the Japanese Yen, which
will impact the organizations profit margins. There are two options for this conversion, the spot
exchange rate and the forward exchange rate. The spot exchange rate is the currency conversion rate
on a specific date (p. 298). As of May 28, 2016, the spot exchange rate for the conversion of U.S.
dollars into Japanese yen is $1=¥110.36 (USD/JPY US Dollar Japanese Yen , n.d.). If the organization
chose to convert its domestic currency into Yen on this date, the organization would be required
exchange $9,061.26 (rounded up) to fulfill the ¥1,000,000 requirement. An alternative to this rate is
the forward exchange rate. This rate is the currency exchange rate governing transactions that occur in

Why Is Sacagawea Important
Sacagawea was a definite essential to the Lewis and Clark expedition success. Lewis and Clark were
the first people to cross the western portion of America. Sacagawea was an invaluable member during
the expedition. People will say Sacagawea isn t as important as people say she is. I agree that
Sacagawea was an important part of the expedition. First, Sacagawea protected Lewis and Clark
during the expedition. The passage states, They recruited a interpreter named Toussaint Charbonneau,
who brought along his Shoshoni Indian wife, Sacagawea, and her newborn baby boy... If Sacagawea
has a son, it s less likely that someone would try to hurt them. Sacagawea states, Not only was her

Firing Back At Gun Control Essay
Jacob Wilson
Ms. Aukes
English II
3 September 2014
Firing Back At Gun Control In America there are about 200,000 women that use guns every year to
protect themselves against sexual crime (Snyder). Gun control is where the government puts laws on
someones ownership of a firearm. Gun control is a tricky topic and has the nation somewhat split both
ways on it. 62% think that there is little concern for firearm restriction, while 33% say there is a need
to worry about it, and the other 5% are indifferent (Ekins). There are two main groups that are feuding
on this topic. Group one is the gun activist, leading the pack for them is the National Rifle
Association. This group is for guns and limited laws and regulations on them. Their opposition is the
President, liberals and many left wing politicians. This group wants to have strict gun laws and allow
nobody to own a gun. Although some people believe guns are wrong they need to become educated in
the importance of guns: they can provide a way of life, they are a means of protection, and Americans
have a constitutional right to bear arms.
For some people owning and using a gun is a way of life. They are hunters, trap shooters, and
businessmen. Hunters are able to use a firearm as a means of providing food for their family and the
hungry of the community. There are organizations such as one in North Carolina that receive legally
harvested deer from hunters to feed families in need ( Hunting Matters ). Meat from hunting is a safe,

The Psychosocial Intervention And Length Of Survival
Spiegel et al. found a significant relationship between the psychosocial intervention and length of
survival (1989). Women in the treatment condition attending support groups lived an average of 36
months compared to women in the control group who lived on average 18 months. Participants who
attended weekly support groups lived twice as long as those in the control group. This finding
demonstrated the incredible positive impact social support could have on patients with breast cancer.
Social support increased immune functioning and survival rates, and Yilmaz, Bal, Benji, and Arvas
attributed this effect to the idea that social support impacted the way people chose to cope with a
cancer diagnosis (2015). Yilmaz et al. studied 221 women with gynecologic cancer to investigate how
coping with stress related to social support (2015). The cross sectional study conducted in Turkey
collected data from three questionnaires that included sociodemographic and clinical features, the
Scale of Ways of Coping With Stress, and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support
that measured social support within family, friends, and a significant other. Effective coping strategies
in the Scales of Ways of Coping With Stress included an optimistic approach, a self confident
approach, and seeking social support, while ineffective coping strategies included a hopelessness
approach and a submissive approach (Folkman Lazarus, 1980). Researchers found that women who

Degradation Of A Wide Range Of Model Pollutants
ABSTRACT Heterogeneous photocatalysis, has been reported to be effective for the degradation of a
wide range of model pollutants in suspension. The use of nanostructured materials is one approach to
improving photocatalytic efficiency. Therefore, this work is based on the use of nanomaterials such as
titania and silver zinc oxide photocatalysts to degrade amoxicillin trihydrate (a model antibiotic
pollutant) in suspension under UV C irradiation and compares the efficiencies of the photocatalysts in
degrading model pollutant used in the study. The Silver decorated Zinc oxide Nanoparticles were
prepared in house by hydrothermal synthesis that yielded nanospheres. The nanomaterial was
characterized using XRD and UV Visible spectroscopy. A significant and faster degradation of
amoxicillin has been observed with Degussa P25when compared with in house synthesized titania and
Ag ZnOphotocatalysts. Introduction Pharmaceuticals constitute an emerging class of micropollutants,
that occur in the environment due to point sources, like production effluents and waste disposal, as
well as diffuse sources, like run off from fields and anthropogenic effluents. The presence of
pharmaceutical compounds such as antibiotics in the ecosystem exists from almost 30 years before.
But, in mid 1990s, when the use of such antibiotics increased at alarming concentration and their
presence became a thing of concern, at this point of time many new analytical technologies were
developed.

The United States versus Paramount Pictures, Inc. Essay
The United States v. Paramount Pictures, Inc. (1947) case deals with monopolies and antitrust laws. I
chose the trusts/monopolies topic due to my interest in finance and economics. Since elementary
school, I have been fascinated by John D. Rockefeller s story about his oil monopoly. This history has
caused me to be interested in monopolies and trusts. I began enjoy reading about the elite who
obtained their wealth illegally. After reading and watching The Great Gatsby and watching the movie

These Big Five created an alliance of theater chains that monopolies on the profits of movies first run
and absolutely crushed other independent production countries. The Paramount case went into Federal
Court in New York in 1940. The was a consent decree; the compromise allowed the Big Five to retain
their chains in exchange for restriction on block booking(selling multiple movies to a theater as a
unit). This also outlawed blind bidding, so all films were required to be shown to the buyers before
selling them (SIMPP, 2002). The independent exhibitors were unhappy with this decision, because it
still gives a tremendous amount of power to the Big Five. Companies like Universal and Columbia
didn t own theaters and relied heavily on block booking. The independent producers created the
Society of Independent Motion Picture Producers (SIMPP). The case turned around when SIMPP was
created (SIMPP, 2002). There was an opposition to the Big Five, but the problem was the independent
producers weren t united. The Consent of Decree of 1940 expired and the Justice Department began
the New York Equity Suit (SIMPP, 2002). This case now involved the original Big Five producing
companies and three smaller companies who were unhappy with the ruling of the consent of decree

What Was The Role Of The Federal Government In The 1960 s
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the U.S. federal government took several actions both at home and
abroad that many Americans didn t always feel were justified, and didn t agree with. One of these
changes made in the U.S. dealt with the legal system, and the rights given to those charged with
serious crimes. Chief Justice Earl Warren, whose goal was to extend individual rights, led this
movement. Through a series of court cases Gideon v. Wainwright, Escobedo v. Illinois, Miranda v.
Arizona new rights of people accused of crimes were established. These included the right for the
accused to have a lawyer to be present during a police investigation, a lawyer to be provided to those
who couldn t afford one, and those accused had to be informed

A Psychodynamic Treatment Approach Essay
Susanna would benefit most from a psychodynamic treatment approach, with a specific emphasis on
clarification, confrontation, and interpretation/transference interpretation. As highlighted by
McWilliams (1999), recurrent themes emerge within the therapy which constitute the client s internal
and external world. With this in mind, Susanna s internal object relations would undoubtedly unfold in
the relationship with the therapist. As Susanna evidences a lack of insight, it will be the therapist s
responsibility to clarify Susanna s experiences for her. In this view, clarification refers to the
reformulation of the patient s verbalizations to convey a more coherent view of what is being
communicated. The therapist may want to clarify what it was like in Susanna s household growing up,
and gather further information on Susanna s romantic relationships. Clarifying sentiments might
include you stated that at times you felt loved by your mother, and hated at other times, but overall do
you feel that your mother loves you? While this technique alone will not lead to therapeutic change, it
will be essential for helping Susanna develop a rapport with the therapist, and establishing a
therapeutic alliance. As borderline pathology is characterized by negative affects, and impulsive,
dangerous behavior, the therapist s ability to keep Susanna in treatment will be essential. The therapist
can do this by presenting him/herself non judgmentally, as well showing Susanna that s/he is

Charter School Reform Case Study
While the sentiment behind venture philanthropy is morally and ethically sound, the growing degree
of power that philanthropists posses is largely unregulated and un scrutinized, which calls for a
reformation of the venture philanthropy sector.
Before venturing into the analyses of the case study Sponsor of Policy: A Network Analysis of
Wealthy Elites, Their Affiliated Philanthropies, and Charter School Reform in Washington State, it is
important to understand the case itself. The charter school reform movement in Washington state
began in 2012 with the passage of Initiative 1240. Initiative 1240 was the necessary legislation need to
legalize charter schools in Washington state. As of 2012, only nine US states did not allow charter

they are invoking an Astroturf movement that is fabricated to appeal to the public by appearing

do so by enacting material sponsorship through philanthropic foundations to gain the prestige

Speech On Birds Of Peril
Birds of Peril
11 species of animals have gone extinct over the past two centuries. To many people, this statement
won t shock them. They will just see it as a statistic. Many others though; would want to do something
to stop this from happening. Natural disasters, their homes are taken, they are hunted, there are many
factors as to why these animals disappear, but people are the number one cause as to why animals
decline so rapidly in numbers.
I know there are people who don t give a rip about animals, and there are some that are in between,
and others that absolutely love animals. The problem here is the people that do not like animals at all.
Trees are cut down, pollution thrown wherever, and not even once do they think about the animals that
occupy these essentials. They do not think about the river that the animals need to drink out of. They
do not think of the birds that live in the trees, or other animals that look to them as a food source.
The thing is, these animals know when their habitat isn t suitable to live in. These birds called raptors
which means carry away in Latin; know when their habitat isn t suitable, which then gives a sign to
other animals to find another place. These birds of prey are in constant threat of being killed, whether
it be by pollution, their homes being taken away or they are shot down in fear of them killing the farm
animals farm owners provide. (animals.mom.me) Raptors are most commonly killed for fear of the
farmer s livestock.

Whole Language versus Phonics Essays
Whole Language versus Phonics
Whole Language versus Phonics has been a question among many top educational groups for years.
Which is the best way to teach kindergarten children the proper way to speak and learn the English
Language? There are many valid reasons why experts argue for both phonics and/or whole language.
Both seem to be exceptional ways to master the English Language. The purpose of this research paper
is to compare phonics versus whole language and to determine how technology can support each
approach.
The history of the use of phonics dates back to the 1700 s. Backs then, children were taught to read
through their memorization of the twenty six letter alphabet. Since many books hadn t been written,

In essence, it builds on what they expect them to already know. Part of the whole language doctrine
states that the point of reading is not to read individual words, but to read them in context. The basis
of whole language is the process of predicting the words through their meaning and context. It is not
intended to teach word decoding but rather a look say way to learn. There is no emphasis on grammar,
spelling and punctuation with this form of teaching.
What is Phonics? Phonics is the teaching of the association of sounds with letter identification. With
that, there is an extreme amount of emphasis on word decoding skills to help a student sound out
unfamiliar words. Phonics is actually a word recognition strategy that becomes a teaching method
only through heavy emphasis. Using phonetic principles, youngsters learn to associate the correct
sound with each part of a word and to recognize and pronounce words. (Farr 2004) Phonics
systematically teaches a child to break the code of written language. (Ghate 2003) Children are taught
to identify letter sound correspondence with phonics, which helps them put together a word by using
sounds.
Related Interaction
There have been many debates over which literacy instruction produces the most favorable outcomes
in terms of test scores. During the 1960 s, teachers favored the phonics approach in helping students
become literate because they believed that it made the most

Animals In Miss Julie Quotes
Symbolic Significance of Animals in Miss Julie by August Strindberg
The petty man conducts himself like an animal, yet wants others to think well of him.
Xun Zi
Animals are the most basic form of human nature; they act without the external pressures of a society,
unlike humans. All animals have a variety of both positive and negative connotations, such as the
powerful yet wild eagle, and it is in a humans primitive nature to behave as they do. Miss Julie by

There are numerous shifts in power throughout the play, mainly conveyed through the use of dogs and
hawks. An example of this is the repetitive use of the word command . At the start of the play, Jean
states that he is At your command, Miss Julie , relating to the dog motif as it is a common connotation
of a dog to take commands from their master. Here, the dog motif is used to symbolise Miss Julie s
power over Jean. However, later this becomes complicated as Jean realises that the hawk s back was
as grey as its front; this statement insinuates that Miss Julie is not as noble and substantial as her
character alludes. This is proceeding the sexual encounter between the two characters and relates to
the falling dream of Miss Julie, as she has not only fallen in terms of virginity and honour, but also in
her perception by others, causing her to transform from the powerful hawk to the meek greenfinch.
Later, Miss Julie attempts to regain her power, You dog, who wears my collar, but again succumbs to
her natural less powerful state as a woman as she asks Jean to, Order me and I ll obey like a dog. The
constant shifts of power is also symbolic of their near equal social standings according to naturalistic

Identity And Access Management (Iam) Is A Vital Part Of
Identity and Access Management (IAM) is a vital part of any organization s security. Quite often, it is
overlooked or not deemed important enough to invest in. It is very important for all employees, new
and existing, to be given the proper access to the resources they need, and to be restricted from
accessing resources they do not need, in order to perform their job. If the wrong access is given, an
employee can either accidentally or intentionally change or destroy company data. Furthermore, a
weak IAM policy leaves an organization open to external attacks. IAM is one of the most important, if
not the most important, part of computer security.

Passwords should not contain dictionary words. Most passwords must be at least eight characters long
and use two or more of the above character types. Longer and more complex passwords make
discovering them more difficult for a hacker. Even with these safeguards, there is still a problem. CEO
of Biometrics Signature ID Jeff Maynard stated that armed with that information, users can access
everything from medical records and bank accounts to credit card information, emails, and other
sensitive information. The problem, of course, is that anyone armed with the same login credentials
can also access the same information (1). This is what happened with both the Sony Pictures attack in

The second authentication type, something you are, usually involves some type of biometric

Tombstone Massacre Essay

Wyatt was born March 19, 1848 in a small town in Illinois called Monmouth. He was the third born

An Assessment Into The Bankruptcy Examiner s Report...
The purpose of this memo is to provide an assessment into the Bankruptcy Examiner s report
regarding the risk management failure as it relates to Leman Brothers. The fundamental reason for the
failure is based on the change in corporate strategy of 2006 in which Lehman decided to shift from a
moving or securitization business to a storage business, with the firm making and holding longer term,
risk investments. This strategic positioning was fully supported by the board, although the chief risk
officer and certain senior risk management executives had expressed concerns about the extent of the
change to the firm s risk appetite.
Strategy Impact:
While investment banks are in the business of taking calculated risks they must consider risk within
the firms risk appetite. In March 2006 Lehman Brothers adopted a new business strategy to grow its
proprietary business from a lower risk brokerage model to a higher risk, capital‐intensive banking
model with a focus on expanding three specific areas of principal investment: commercial real estate,
leveraged loans and private equity businesses to consume more capital. This strategy was risky due to
the firm s high leverage and small equity. This impacted their risk taking significantly because this
strategy was generally riskier and more illiquid than their traditional lines of business. As some
Lehman officers described it, Lehman shifted from focusing almost exclusively on the moving
business a business strategy of

Dionysus is the god of wine and parties. He is the son of Semele, a mortal, and Zeus, god of the sky
and ruler of all the gods. There have been many similarities between Dionysus and Jesus made by
people throughout history yet we have to wonder why do we need Dionysus? He is not exactly the
most moral god ever. Is he actually important and necessary in Greek mythology? Does his danger
outweigh his importance and necessity? What is the play telling us about sanity and insanity?
There have been so many similarities throughout history noted between Dionysus in The Bacchae and
Jesus in The Bible. Some similarities include their births, people wanting to kill them as infants, others
disbelief that they are gods, the persecution because others do not believe in their divinity, and their
rebirths.
Both gods were born to virgins and miraculously conceived without sex. When Semele told others
about her pregnancy, she was mocked. They said that Dionysus was no son of Zeus, but Semele had
slept beside a man in love. Cadmus lied to protect his daughter s name. (Euripides 20, 28). In the book
of Matthew, Mary conceives a child through the Holy Spirit while she was still betrothed to Joseph
(Matthew 1:18).
Both gods lives were in danger as infants. When Dionysus was born Zeus s wife, Hera, was furious
Zeus had had another affair and tried to throw Dionysus down Mount Olympus. Zeus hid Dionysus
and gave Hera a [baby] molded piece of the ether that encircles the Earth (Hathaway 247)

What Is Better Than College Theatre
Never in a million years would I have imagined that I would be able to identify myself as an actress.
Growing up, I never really liked sports. I tried dance, gymnastics, painting, and singing; nothing was
ever something I could say, Hey, this is me, this is what I love to do. Now a freshman in college I m
majoring in Nursing but theatre is still something that I would give a leg and arm to do. At Butler,
However, I love theatre here but it is very different then it was in high school. High school theatre is a
better working experience than college theatre is because the experience is more fun, its a closer

I tried out. I quit when I realized that I only made Junior Varsity which now that I think about it, was

My Goals For My First Semester
After two full weeks of college I have quickly learned that college is very stressful and if I want to be
successful I need to learn how to set practical goals and acquire necessary tactics to accomplish each
goal in the given amount of time. I have set three goals for my first semester of college to achieve
success in both academic and personal areas in my life. I want to receive a 4.0 GPA, only have up to
one absence in each class, and be able to run seven miles nonstop, I will complete these three goals all
in my first semester of college. With essential goal setting strategies I am equipped with I will be able
to accomplish my three goals in the time frame given and set myself up for success for next semesters
as a UNC student. My first goal is to earn a 4.0 GPA this fall semester. This is an enabling goal
because I will need I need to have above a 3.8 to get into the nursing program at UNC, therefore
getting perfect grades this semester will set me up for success in the future semesters. To accomplish
this goal, I will have to study for at least two hours a day, Monday through Friday. I will also need to
go to at least three hours of tutoring each week. I live in a pre nursing living community, therefore my
RA has tutoring hours and the school provides two hours for each class of tutoring a week. I am a
disorganized person and I rarely use a planner, and to get a 4.0 I will need to be very organized. To
address this potential obstacle, I will sit down every Sunday and

Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh Essay
Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh
In Aurora Leigh, Elizabeth Barrett Browning creates an independent, intelligent young woman. Barrett
Browning successfully demonstrates the difficult obstacles women had to overcome in the Victorian
period. There were preconceived ideas of what proper women were suppose to do with their life. Not
that this idea has completely been surmounted in our time. Barrett Browning though is optimistic
about the goals women can achieve. She wants to demonstrate to women that belief in themselves and
their dreams is possible and preferable to the standard.
The poem begins with Aurora Leigh s observations of her aunt. Her somewhat narrow forehead

Of the mathematics, brushed with extreme flounce/ The circle of the sciences, because/ She misliked
women who are frivolous (404 407). Her aunt considered the learning of mathematics and science a
waste of time because a woman would have no chance to use them. She withheld any reading that
were considered improper. In effect Aurora Leigh was taught A general insight into useful facts 413).
Therefore a woman was taught enough facts that could prove useful in conversation. She was not
taught to think deeply and explore ideas for herself.
Her aunt also had her instructed in Spun glass, Stuffed birds, and modeled flowers in wax,/ Because
she liked accomplishments in girls (425 426). So in the narrow mind of her aunt s she considered the
ability to do crafts an accomplishment for women. After the list of Aurora Leigh s education is drawn

symbolical./ We sew...producing what...at best, a cushion...and dream of something we are not... (455

that are trivial, not necessary in life. This affects the worth of the woman, not only in monetary value
but in their esteem. Therefore the value of women in society is low for what they produce is of little
worth.
Through this strict upbringing Aurora Leigh s personality persisted. At age twenty she

Money And Class In America By Lewis Lapham
Money talks is an expression many form as a simple analogy to the problem associated with wealth
today. However, the value of money is not to be taken in vain as money does not always showcase the
attributes of knowledge and power. At the same time, those who do possess money do, in some cases,
possess the attributes commonly associated with the wealthier class. Money and Class in America
wrote by Lewis Lapham in 1988, showcases the pessimistic feelings Lapham has towards the
American faith in money. Lapham believes that Americans are at a loss to hold the majesty of money
at bay. Though I agree with Lapham to a point, I also believe that the assumptions of Americans do
apply to a point. Americans have always looked to their relatively ... Show more content on

In the case of money, it is corruption. Some would argue that money is the root of all problems, and
that there is no instance where money doesn t cause corruption. This threat is constant in the media
today: the election, the celebrities, the news. These and many more are considered corrupted by a
source of great wealth, being that the cantaditas pay for votes, the celebrities are paid for their acting
in the media, and the news stations are paid by different political parties to represent them in
broadcasts. Sadly, as this does occur, many people are represented for their money and not for their
talent due to the overvaluing of money in America. It is most definitely true that corruption does occur
as a result of money, but not to a complete extent. While these instances do occur in today s world,
there is reform in action as well as the fact that not all Americans are led towards this path of
deception. It is true that many people are drawn towards money when it comes to picking a leader or
immersing oneself in the media, there are many cases of Americans going towards those who
exemplify ideals similar to their own over those who have larger supplies of wealth. This paves the
way to the realization that not all Americans overvalue

Corruption Of The American Dream In The Great Gatsby
The Corrupted American Dream The American Dream is an inspiration to many people. To live out
the American Dream is what once was on the minds of many Americans and still is to this day. In The
Great Gatsby, the American Dream was presented as a corrupted version of what used to be a pure and
honest ideal way to live. The idea that the American Dream was about the wealth and the possessions
one had was ingrained, somehow, into the minds of Americans during the 1920 s. As a result of the
distortion of the American Dream, the characters of F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby
lived life believing in the American Dream, as a distorted one. The American Dream gave them
something to fight for. This was a chance to climb above their previous generation in terms of the
social ladder. Even though it was superficial, Gatsby s outlook on life was something that could be
labeled as optimistic. Although Gatsby s intentions were good he remained ignorant to the truth
around him. Gatsby believed that if he worked hard he would overcome the poverty of his early life
and he did just that. Gatsby though, did not strive to become a better man or a man with money for
himself, but rather for Daisy. Gatsby threw around large amounts of money as if it was nothing in an
attempt to win the heart of Daisy. He even threw incredibly lavish parties in hope that Daisy would
one day attend. He thought this would give him the chance to win her love. Gatsby truly believes that

Research Paper On Zigbee
ABSTRACT : Railways are the popular mode of Transport in almost all major cities of the World.
Railways are the most widely used and comfortable modes of transportation system. The major cause
for railway accidents is collision of trains on the same track. The main aim of this anti collision system
is to identify collision points and to report these error cases to main control room nearer to the station
as well as grid control station. Majority of accidents occurred due to improper communication among
the network between drivers and control room, due to wrong signaling, worst atmospheric condition,
immediate change of route . The train driver doesn t get proper information in time leading to
hazardous situations. So this system by using zigbee protocol provides communication in between
trains, which provide information or track id of one train to another train to avoid collision.

Analysis Of Nathaniel Hawthorne s Scarlet Fever
Nathaniel Hawthorne Nathaniel Hawthorne was born on July 4, 1804 in Salem Massachusetts. His
father died of yellow fever when he was 4 years old and left behind a wife and 3 children. Hawthorne
was raised by an abnormal and solitary mother. He had a leg injury at a young age, which left him not
being able to move for months (Biography) . His leg injury, on the other hand, did not get in the way
of what he was dreaming of doing growing up. During the time of his leg injury, Hawthorne
developed an interest in reading and writing. He grew up being an enthusiastic reader of poetry and
exotic adventure stories. Hawthorne had to overcome a lot of obstacles growing up to become a writer.
Despite losing a father and having a leg injury at such a young age, Hawthorne became a successful
writer of the American Romantic period. Thanks to his uncles, Hawthorne attended Bowdoin College
in Maine. His uncles paid for his college tuition there. He attended the college when he was 17 years
old and spent 4 years there. At the college, he met and made friends with Franklin Piece and Henry
Wadsworth (Biography) . While he was attending college, Hawthorne missed his family so much and
returned home to Salem after graduation (Biography) . He stayed in Salem for 12 years. He came back
to Salem not only to spend time with his family, but to spend time studying puritan history and
develop his writing skills. During his 12 year stay in Salem, Hawthorne wrote a few books. He wrote a

Newell Company was established in 1902 by Edgar A. Newell after he purchased a brass curtain rods
manufacturer. From brass curtain rods, Newell then became a manufacturer for both home and

approach to strategy. The two approaches included; following an established acquisition process
(Newellization) and progression over the company s multiple divisions. Newellization can be
described as the process the acquired company goes through in order to be faster and more efficient

Rubbermaid
By 1998, Newell was considering a merger with Rubbermaid Incorporated to form a new company,
Newell Rubbermaid Incorporated. The purchase was a tax free exchange of 0.7883 shares of Newell
stock for each share of Rubbermaid (Montgomery, 2005, p. 12). Prior to the acquisition of
Rubbermaid, Newell had three major product groupings: Hardware and Home Furnishings, Office
Products, and Housewares (Montgomery, 2005). Adding Rubbermaid to Newell s product line would
allow them the opportunity to sell a wide range of products which would now include plastic products,
ranging from housewares to toys. McDonough expected, Newell to be able to apply its established
process of acquiring, streamlining, and managing smaller companies to this large one (Montgomery,
2005, p. 12). However, an unexpected change in the market occurred on the day of the acquisition.
Newell s closing price on Tuesday before the deal was $49.063, valuing Rubbermaid s shares at 49%
over its closing price of $25.875 (Montgomery, 2005). Immediately after the deal, Newell s shares fell
to $43.875 while Rubbermaid s shares

characterization, achieving this effect with diction, syntax, imagery, and tone. Baum s word choice in
the short story plays a large role in establishing and building the main conflict of the piece. His diction
is kept simple, but the choices he made are ultimately effective in creating the tone, which is another
element that helps create the conflict. In the first paragraph, bent on mischief and captive effectively

to creating imagery; words such as chattering , suspended , and dangled all help to paint a picture in

The Feminist Scarlet Letter
The Scarlet Letter can easily be seen as an early feminist piece of work. Nathaniel Hawthorne created
a story that exemplifies Hester as a strong female character living with her choices, whether they were
good or bad, and also as the protagonist. He also presents the daughter of Hester, Pearl, as an
intelligent female, especially for her age. He goes on to prove man as imperfect through both the
characters of Dimmesdale and of Chillingworth. With the situation that all the characters face,
Hawthorne establishes the female as the triumphant one, accomplishing something that, during
Nathaniel Hawthorne s time, authors did not attempt. In the beginning of the book, Hawthorne paints

Building A Room Decorating Ideas
Modern Room Decorating Ideas : How to Choose Wall Artwork
Great art can elevate a space, bring together an interior house design and add interest to a room. Art
work in your home can also communicate your style to your guests and speak to your personal
experience. However, choosing art pieces for your home can be daunting when you have no
experience in room design. Luckily, we have compiled a list of room decorating ideas that will help
you choose the right artwork for your home and its many spaces.
Don t Settle

not settle. Above all else, it is advisable to get out and see what s out there. Art exists in galleries, at
auctions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Think About Your Space
Are you decorating your living room, home office, or bedroom? Spend time in the space and select the
most important and visible walls in those rooms. These walls should be considered the focal points of
your design. When choosing art for these spaces, consider the size that art will need to be in order to
take up enough visual space.
Match the size and shape of the pieces to the walls. For instance, if you have a long horizontal wall,
hang a long horizontal piece of art. In the same space, you could also hand a collection of pieces in
order to take up more horizontal space. By accentuating the height or length of the wall, you will be
making the room feel larger.
Choosing Art For Your Bedroom
When choosing art for your bedroom, it is important that you consider what it is you would like to get
out of the space. Is your bedroom a place of rest, a place to unwind, or a place for romance? The style
and mood of the art you choose should be in line with your overall plans for your bedroom space.
Because art is such an emotive tool, it is particularly important in your bedroom that the colors of the
art displayed help accomplish your bedroom s overarching theme. For example, red is the color of
passion, and although a painting that uses a large swathe of red is great for a room designated for
romance, it may not be well suited in a room designated for relaxation.

Boxer Rebellion Dbq
How would you feel if innocent citizens were being attacked for no apparent reason? How would you
feel if another country controlled who you traded with? These are very important questions in history
that are still unanswered today. America should have intervened in the Boxer Rebellion because they
offered the Open Door Policy but the Chinese started the rebellion, attacked innocent people, and we
needed to show the Chinese who had the power.
Furthermore, American government offered a Chinese open door policy to the rest of the world. But,
after the Chinese heard of this new policy, they weren t happy. The Chinese began to train people to be
what was known as a boxer, then decided to rebel against America. The following day, Qing Empress
Dowager Tzu u Hzi (or Cixi, 1835 1908) declared a war on all foreign nations with diplomatic ties in
China (History.com). This shows that America should ve intervened because they re the ones who
proposed the policy in the first place.

that predictive modeling could be done by various measures and mechanisms. In predictive modeling
Multiple Adaptive Regression (MARS), Classification and Regression Trees (CART), Logistic OLS or

Chapter Three: A Bi level Hydroeconomic Model of Spatial Dynamic Optimization of Water Use and
Management Behavior in Utah: A Case Study of Cache Valley
Abstract
This study employs spatial dynamic optimization and bi level programming techniques to analyze
water use behavior in the Cache Valley of Utah. Using a case study Logan Northwest Field canal
system, it explores the impact spatial location of heterogeneous actors has on decision making
hierarchy and outcomes. It also analyzes in particular, 1) the efficiency contribution of an omniscient
water master to overall water use efficiency of actors in the canal system, 2) the impact of varying
composition of the system s actors and their needs (agricultural to residential users ratio) on the
decisions and directives of the omniscient water master.
Key Words: Bi level Programming, Water Management, Spatial Dynamic Optimization
Introduction
The management and use of water in urban areas is a complex and dynamic issue. Water managers
must juggle the goals of regulating water demand, with securing and improving access to good quality
water for their jurisdiction areas. As demographic and hydroclimatic changes force a shift in the focus
of water management from supply expansion to improving management of existing water supply
systems (Harou et al, 2009), a holistic understanding of existing systems has become a pertinent need.
While past economic studies have produced useful results and emphases, it is becoming

The Settlements Of The Treaty Of Waitangi Essay
The Settlements of the Treaty of Waitangi.
The treaty of Waitangi is considered to be the founding document of the English and European control
and settlement in New Zealand. After the treaty s signing in 1840 it has played a huge role in legal
affairs and the treatment of both European New Zealanders and Maori New Zealanders. Though there
is dispute as to the correct or incorrect translation from English to Maori and vice versa, the treaty has
on the whole created a harmonious existence between the two cultures.
In 1832 after a plea for help and protection sent to the French and English by the Maori, the English
sent James Busby to be the British Resident in New Zealand, which would lead to the later
appointment of William Hobson as the Lieutenant Governor of New Zealand. In 1834 James Busby
drafted a document known as the Declaration of Independence of New Zealand . This was signed by
himself and 35 Northern Maori chiefs in 1835 appointing those chiefs as the representatives of a state
under the name of the United Tribes of New Zealand . This document was not popular in the Colonial
Office in England and it seemed that a corrective document was needed for New Zealand. This
document ended up being the Treaty of Waitangi.

  • 3. International Business Transactions Have Many Elements... Introduction Those organizations wishing to engage in international business transactions have many elements they must consider. One of these elements is that of foreign exchange rates, the rate at which one currency can be converted into another (Hill, 2014, p. 296). While a company may be located in the United States, they may engage in commerce with organizations in foreign markets that require payment in their domestic currencies. Organizations must pay careful attention to these exchange rates, as their fluctuations can significantly impact the costs of doing international business, as demonstrated in the first section. Identify the spot and forward exchange rates between the two currencies. What factors influence your decision to use each? Which one would you choose? How many dollars must you spend to acquire the amount of yen required? This organization wishes to limit its transaction exposure when paying its Japanese supplier in six months. This exposure reflects how the cost of this transaction is affected by foreign exchange price fluctuations (p. 313). Because the exchange rate is expected to fluctuate during this period, the ¥1,000,000 will payment will cost the organization differing amounts depending on which exchange rate is used for the conversion of the domestic currency into the Japanese Yen, which will impact the organizations profit margins. There are two options for this conversion, the spot exchange rate and the forward exchange rate. The spot exchange rate is the currency conversion rate on a specific date (p. 298). As of May 28, 2016, the spot exchange rate for the conversion of U.S. dollars into Japanese yen is $1=¥110.36 (USD/JPY US Dollar Japanese Yen , n.d.). If the organization chose to convert its domestic currency into Yen on this date, the organization would be required exchange $9,061.26 (rounded up) to fulfill the ¥1,000,000 requirement. • 5. Firing Back At Gun Control Essay Jacob Wilson Ms. Aukes English II 3 September 2014 Firing Back At Gun Control In America there are about 200,000 women that use guns every year to protect themselves against sexual crime (Snyder). Gun control is where the government puts laws on someones ownership of a firearm. Gun control is a tricky topic and has the nation somewhat split both ways on it. 62% think that there is little concern for firearm restriction, while 33% say there is a need to worry about it, and the other 5% are indifferent (Ekins). There are two main groups that are feuding on this topic. Group one is the gun activist, leading the pack for them is the National Rifle Association. This group is for guns and limited laws and regulations on them. Their opposition is the President, liberals and many left wing politicians. This group wants to have strict gun laws and allow nobody to own a gun. Although some people believe guns are wrong they need to become educated in the importance of guns: they can provide a way of life, they are a means of protection, and Americans have a constitutional right to bear arms. For some people owning and using a gun is a way of life. They are hunters, trap shooters, and businessmen. Hunters are able to use a firearm as a means of providing food for their family and the hungry of the community. There are organizations such as one in North Carolina that receive legally harvested deer from hunters to feed families in need ( Hunting Matters ). Meat from hunting is a safe, ... Participants who attended weekly support groups lived twice as long as those in the control group. This finding demonstrated the incredible positive impact social support could have on patients with breast cancer. Social support increased immune functioning and survival rates, and Yilmaz, Bal, Benji, and Arvas attributed this effect to the idea that social support impacted the way people chose to cope with a cancer diagnosis (2015). A Psychodynamic Treatment Approach Essay Susanna would benefit most from a psychodynamic treatment approach, with a specific emphasis on clarification, confrontation, and interpretation/transference interpretation. As highlighted by McWilliams (1999), recurrent themes emerge within the therapy which constitute the client s internal and external world. With this in mind, Susanna s internal object relations would undoubtedly unfold in the relationship with the therapist. As Susanna evidences a lack of insight, it will be the therapist s responsibility to clarify Susanna s experiences for her. In this view, clarification refers to the reformulation of the patient s verbalizations to convey a more coherent view of what is being communicated. The therapist may want to clarify what it was like in Susanna s household growing up, and gather further information on Susanna s romantic relationships. Clarifying sentiments might include you stated that at times you felt loved by your mother, and hated at other times, but overall do you feel that your mother loves you? While this technique alone will not lead to therapeutic change, it will be essential for helping Susanna develop a rapport with the therapist, and establishing a therapeutic alliance. There is no emphasis on grammar, spelling and punctuation with this form of teaching. What is Phonics? Phonics is the teaching of the association of sounds with letter identification. With that, there is an extreme amount of emphasis on word decoding skills to help a student sound out unfamiliar words. Phonics is actually a word recognition strategy that becomes a teaching method only through heavy emphasis. The purpose of this memo is to provide an assessment into the Bankruptcy Examiner s report regarding the risk management failure as it relates to Leman Brothers. The fundamental reason for the failure is based on the change in corporate strategy of 2006 in which Lehman decided to shift from a moving or securitization business to a storage business, with the firm making and holding longer term, risk investments. This strategic positioning was fully supported by the board, although the chief risk officer and certain senior risk management executives had expressed concerns about the extent of the change to the firm s risk appetite. • 25. Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh Essay Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh In Aurora Leigh, Elizabeth Barrett Browning creates an independent, intelligent young woman. Barrett Browning successfully demonstrates the difficult obstacles women had to overcome in the Victorian period. There were preconceived ideas of what proper women were suppose to do with their life. Not that this idea has completely been surmounted in our time. Barrett Browning though is optimistic about the goals women can achieve. She wants to demonstrate to women that belief in themselves and their dreams is possible and preferable to the standard. She introduces the line subtlety but actually this is the sum of her belief. Women produce goods that are trivial, not necessary in life. • 26. Money And Class In America By Lewis Lapham Money talks is an expression many form as a simple analogy to the problem associated with wealth today. However, the value of money is not to be taken in vain as money does not always showcase the attributes of knowledge and power. At the same time, those who do possess money do, in some cases, possess the attributes commonly associated with the wealthier class. Money and Class in America wrote by Lewis Lapham in 1988, showcases the pessimistic feelings Lapham has towards the American faith in money. These and many more are considered corrupted by a source of great wealth, being that the cantaditas pay for votes, the celebrities are paid for their acting in the media, and the news stations are paid by different political parties to represent them in broadcasts. Sadly, as this does occur, many people are represented for their money and not for their talent due to the overvaluing of money in America. It is most definitely true that corruption does occur as a result of money, but not to a complete extent. While these instances do occur in today s world, there is reform in action as well as the fact that not all Americans are led towards this path of deception. It is true that many people are drawn towards money when it comes to picking a leader or immersing oneself in the media, there are many cases of Americans going towards those who exemplify ideals similar to their own over those who have larger supplies of wealth. • 27. Corruption Of The American Dream In The Great Gatsby The Corrupted American Dream The American Dream is an inspiration to many people. To live out the American Dream is what once was on the minds of many Americans and still is to this day. In The Great Gatsby, the American Dream was presented as a corrupted version of what used to be a pure and honest ideal way to live. The idea that the American Dream was about the wealth and the possessions one had was ingrained, somehow, into the minds of Americans during the 1920 s. As a result of the distortion of the American Dream, the characters of F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby lived life believing in the American Dream, as a distorted one. The American Dream gave them something to fight for. This was a chance to climb above their previous generation in terms of the social ladder. Even though it was superficial, Gatsby s outlook on life was something that could be labeled as optimistic. Although Gatsby s intentions were good he remained ignorant to the truth around him. Gatsby believed that if he worked hard he would overcome the poverty of his early life and he did just that. Gatsby though, did not strive to become a better man or a man with money for himself, but rather for Daisy. Gatsby threw around large amounts of money as if it was nothing in an attempt to win the heart of Daisy. He even threw incredibly lavish parties in hope that Daisy would one day attend. He thought this would give him the chance to win her love. Gatsby truly believes that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Railways are the most widely used and comfortable modes of transportation system. The major cause for railway accidents is collision of trains on the same track. The main aim of this anti collision system is to identify collision points and to report these error cases to main control room nearer to the station as well as grid control station. Majority of accidents occurred due to improper communication among the network between drivers and control room, due to wrong signaling, worst atmospheric condition, immediate change of route .
