The House Of Mirth By Edith Wharton Essay
The House of Mirth, written by Edith Wharton, depicts the social system and how it functioned during
the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. Through looking at the social rise and fall of Lily Bart, the
protagonist, one can see how education, gender, and social status determine value and success. By the
evident contrast between upper class and lower class values in the novel, the theme of performance is
illuminated. Each character in the novel is performing Lily, especially and does so as a way of socially
furthering themselves. This is due to the fact that in the novel, social status determines value; value
increases as social status increases. This idea of performance correlating with social status and
personal value aligns with Louis Althusser s thesis regarding ideology: ideology is determined before
birth and is performed. Ideology forms as soon as one is addressed and responds; Lily responds yes to
each person who addresses her, but each address puts her in a different performance, causing her to be
a reciprocal of these ideologies. Lily faces an internal conflict of which ideology she belongs to: was
she pre determined with an upper class ideology, or lower class ideology? Is she the person who is
addressed by Percy Gryce, or Nettie Struther? This ideological struggle is conveyed most clearly when
she interacts with Lawrence Selden, who challenges her values and beliefs. Two versions of Lily exist
within the novel that perform and speak to each ideology. In Ideology

Cosmetic Surgery is a Worldwide Epidemic Essay
Everywhere you look; from billboards to TV the effects of plastic surgery have left its mark. In fact, a
couple of weeks ago, a famous music icon passed, and for a whole week all the media did was talk
about the plastic surgery done to his face. These days people are having rhinoplasty, liposuction,
tummy tucks, face lifts, and most commonly breast augmentation. Science is making it easier to
change the appearance of ones self. This brings me to believe, cosmetic surgery is an epidemic that
has affected the whole world.
A while back on a popular morning show, the host was interviewing a guest star. Then the host brings
up that the guest star has had a breast augmentation. Then the guest star looks at him, and says,

Adults with big money have been the ones affected the most with these celebrity trends. However,
teenager girls have been affected more than they should. Instead of a parent telling the teenager they
look beautiful, no matter how many minor imperfections they have. Most parents are shockingly
giving their teenagers liposuction as birthday presents. Instead of loosing weight in a healthy way with
diet and exercise, these teens are going under anesthesia. Most teenagers after the surgery have scars
left on their body, which never heal. In today s world, many people are confused about their gender.
This has led numerous people to plastic surgery. A countless number of them feel the only way to truly
be themselves is through getting a sex transformation. Even though many of them get the surgery on
the down low, the effects from the surgery eventually come to light. On the Jerry Springer show, a
number of episodes involved the audience guessing what the gender of the person was before they
underwent surgery. It s sad to say, that the majority of the women on the show were originally men.
The expenses of buying a whole new lifestyle, the emotional drainage they are likely to face, and the
periods of physical pain in hormonal change all are factors they deal with after plastic surgery.
Whether broadcasted through media or magazines plastic surgery interest everyone, I truly believe
Hollywood is addicted to it. I believe that the media projects images

Freedom From Fear Book Report
David Kennedy s book Freedom from Fear: The American People in Depression and War 1929 1945
shines light on the financial impacts that hit the country during the Great Depression and World War 2.
This book shares how some people assumed that Franklyn D Roosevelt was a successor in getting
things moving to a better economy but if it wasn t for Hoover things may have been worse, or that s
what I took from it. Kennedy starts off the book with talking about the end of World War 1 and how
the Great Depression started with the treaty of Versailles because it had led men of World War 2 to
believe that they could be better leaders of their country. A prime example would be Hitler who
believed that Jewish people were the reason Germany failed and this led to him rising to power. ...

People had no care for saving or cautious behavior with money. But when the stock market crashed
consumers and businesses had little trust. Although the stock market crash has not been directly
connected with the start of the Great Depression it did scare so many people that they ran to banks to
withdraw what money they had left only to have banks soon fail. Banks had a major crisis at hand
because they money they loaned out went into buying stocks. This crash had caused the banks to fail
when people couldn t keep up with their payments. Hoover had tried to help cushion the blow. He had
tried to get business leaders to hold wages at a certain prices. He had also got the Federal Reserve
involved by making open market purchases. He even tried to help those who were unemployed by
stimulating construction work. This was the best he could do with the help he had. But obviously
business leaders were more concerned with profit than wages because they were quick to cut wages
down. Unemployment were reaching levels that were hard to match with work that the president was

Let s take a look at the cons of using induction cooktops in your kitchen.
A. Cookwares: The main disadvantage of induction cooktops is the cookwares used for cooking. You
can only use a cookware that is magnetic, maybe made of stainless steel or cast iron. Without this,
your induction cooktop will not work.
This could pose a big problem if you only have cookwares made of non magnetic elements like copper
and aluminium.
B. Noise: Sometimes induction cooktops make noise when you use them to cook.
C. Electricity Problems: Induction Cooktops work with electric power supply. So, in situations when
your home doesn t have access to electricity, you won t be able to cook using your induction cooktop.
D. Cost: Induction Cooktops are more expensive when compared to other traditional cooking
appliances. If you are on a tight budget, you might have to settle for a cheap induction cooktop which
might not have all the necessary features you desire.
BUYING GUIDE FOR AN INDUCTION COOKTOP

a nearby sergeant to give a set of coordinates and how many light years it will be to consider the

Sample Literature Review On Antisocial Personality Disorder
In the article The antisocial person: an insight into biology, classification and current evidence on
treatment authors Rodrigo, Rajapakse, and Jayananda (2010) explored PubMed looking for published
English articles between 1999 to 2009 with the search words, antisocial personality disorder, dissocial
personality disorder, and psychopathy. The purpose of the literature search was to look for advances in
understanding the neurobiology of violence and empathy, effective treatment modalities, and ethical
implications in defining at risk individuals for preventive interventions. Data sources for this review
included clinical journals, cohort studies, interventional studies, case control studies, cross sectional
analysis and epidemiological studies. The search revealed a number of interesting findings, such as the
different terminology used, treatment related issues, and the importance of early identification and
prevention of antisocial behavior. Empathy was also a targeted area. The search examined the
neurobiology of empathy and noted that the limbic system and the insula and the anterior cingulate
cortex had roles in assessing emotions of self and others. Although the search uncloaked new

Winston Churchill As A Prime Minister Of England
Sir Winston Churchill is well known for being the Prime Minister of England who led the country
through World War II and played a major role in ending the war. However, it is his internal battles that
give us far more insight into who Churchill really was. His personal struggle, possibly with bipolar
disorder, helped shape history and gave Churchill the strength to win the war. The periods of highs and
lows seen throughout Churchill s life indicate the he may have been struggling with Bipolar Disorder
(Type II). Winston Churchill himself has even said that he suffered from the black dog of depression
over the course of his life (Rubin, 2003). However, given his periods of hyperactivity it s very likely
that Churchill was actually battling bipolar II disorder. Instead letting his mental disorder control him,
Churchill overcame his bipolar disorder, and used this inspiration to lead his nation out of war.
According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (the DSM V),
Bipolar II disorder is characterized by a clinical course of recurring mood episodes consisting of one
or more major depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode. During the mood episode(s),
the requisite number of symptoms must be present most of the day, nearly every day, and represent a
noticeable change from usual behavior and functioning (APA, 2013). Essentially, Bipolar II Disorder
is characterized by hypomanic and depressive episodes throughout a person s

this time, it was dark and the Giant Lobster was very tired and he hadn t found anyone to help him.

Current review of VTE prophylaxis
INTRODUCTION
Throughout the surgery, numerous complications arise despite the proper planning. Perhaps, one of the
most dangerous complication is the Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) a broad concept which
encompasses Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE). The risk for VTE after
surgery is further increased and in absence of thromboprophylaxis, it is associated with high mortality
rate of 40 60% (Liu et al., 2016). Hence, VTE prophylaxis guidelines recommends the use of
pharmacological prophylaxis such as warfarin, low molecular weight heparin (LMWH). However, the
chemical therapeutic agents are associated with increased risk of bleeding, intraoperative hemorrhage
and hematoma (Frostick, 2016). This further results in delayed wound healing, infection and high risk
of readmission (Nam et al., 2015). Therefore, this paper explores is the cooperative effectiveness of

Research paper on Montessori Education
{Kierre Davis}
(American Public Universty}
Abstract
This research paper intends to explain and describe factors and features of Montessori education and
Montessori school. It illustrates the practical implementation of Montessori education. It is an old
method of education operating since 100 years. It started from the indigent nursery school in Rome
and afterwards, it continued to expand at a larger scale. Approximations specify that over 5000
schools in the U.S.; 300 communal schools and few high schools apply the Montessori curriculum.

Rather than simply watching and listening, as the majority of traditional students do, Montessori
students are encouraged to participate in hands on activities that foster learning through doing. This
may involve field trips, group work, or individualized activities that allow the students to work
independently on their own research. As the students progress through the Montessori system, they are
likely granted an even greater amount of classroom freedom. Traditional schooling, often dominated
by textbooks, lectures and continuous classroom discipline, differs from Montessori education in those
very areas (Martin, 2009). In contemporary age of education, with the initiation of the No Child Left
Behind act and its significance on educational values, financial support for gifted children frequently
scampers parched. Thus it is significant for parents to search different educational alternatives for
talented children, who have a tendency to be independent and incredible learners, who frequently do
effort in classrooms where recurrence and orthodoxy are strained and individual expression is ignored.
Montessori schools were established on the cause that children have the instinctive ability to learn
themselves, and the schools must facilitate children to lead their individual education. Because of
these causes, Montessori schools might be the best choice for talented children (Martin, 2009).
Generally speaking, Montessori students do not

Tobias Smollett s Peregrine Pickle
During the mid 18th century, it was more important to keep a good reputation within society than to
show how one truly feels. When the interaction between the men start it is evident how angry and
frustrated each of the men are, however they don t express these feelings towards one another. Instead
of expressing their true feeling they end their dispute with a sword fight which, in this time period, is a
socially acceptable way. In Tobias Smollett s novel, The Adventures Of Peregrine Pickle, the
interaction between Peregrine and Godfrey show how social decorum can suppress ones feelings to

the emotions of Peregrine built up so much that they eventual boiled over. He couldn t hold it in any

Ionotropic Receptors Research Paper
Ionotropic receptors is a binding site that opens when an ion attaches to the binding site. The
ionotropic receptor is also a direct method to the ion channels. Ionotropic receptors has a channel
where molecules move in and out of the ion channel. The ions that goes into the ion channel are made
out of sodium which cause the membrane to become small.
Metabotropic receptors is receptor that is a part of the binding site of a neurotransmitter. Metabotropic

Examples Of Unsatisties In The Great Gatsby
Great Gatsby Essay
Many people put on masks to hide their dissatisfaction with life. Perhaps they are unhappy with their
marriages, their professions, or the politics of the time they live in. In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott
Fitzgerald, many characters are unsatisfied with their lives, relationships, and social status. For
example, The Buchanans, The Wilsons, and Jay Gatsby have the most unsatisfied lives. They deal
with being the most unhappy throughout the book, because they are not living the life they want to
live it is not perfect to them. In this book, Fitzgerald describes many problems within the unsatisfied
thoughts of his characters. Those unsatisfied thoughts are not the biggest problems in the world, but
they make it seem that way to The Buchanans, The Wilson s, and Mr. Gatsby; this dissatisfaction with
life directly leads to the deaths of The Wilson s and Jay Gatsby.
First of all, The Buchanans, are having many problems and are very unsatisfied with their lives. Daisy
is not happy with her relationship with Tom. We do not find this out till the end of the book that she is
in love with Gatsby. Daisy is also unsatisfied with Tom s actions. He was not at the hospital when her
daughter was born , and he continuously leaves her alone to go on with other mistresses. Daisy is so
disgusted with him, she finds him revolting after being embarrassed by him everywhere she goes. Tom
is also unsatisfied with his relationship, in the book Jordan Baker says That s Tom s girl on the
telephone, (Fitzgerald 116). Throughout the book Tom has been cheating on Daisy with mistresses, the
main one being Myrtle. The fact that Tom is cheating in the first place shows he is not the happiest
with Daisy. Daisy knows on the phone Myrtle is sometimes on the other line, leading her to fall for
Gatsby harder. Both Daisy and Tom do not have those true feelings for one another, leading for both to
be unhappy and unsatisfied in their own marriage. Being this unhappy, causes for other people to think
they had chances with both Tom and Daisy and for those significant others, to be out for mostly Tom
but Daisy as well. The amount of anger that comes from how unsatisfied they are leads, to Myrtle and
Gatsby both being

The Sacrament Of Baptism And Communion
THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM AND COMMUNION
The Sacrament of Baptism is a gift of grace that brings us into union with God, church, and the
Christian community. God s plan since the foundation of the of the earth was to enter into a covenant
relationship with all inhabitants, in order to bless them. The New Testament Covenant is established
through Jesus Christ and consist of baptism by water and the spirit. Mark 16:16, the one who believes
and is baptized will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned (NIV). By being
obedient to Christ, we become participants in this sacred act of Baptism. Gayle Carlton Felton wrote a
book, By Water And The Spirit, and she shares about the tradition of Baptism in the United Methodist
Church. John Wesley plays a major role in helping shape the doctrine of The United Methodist
Church.
The United Methodist Church is diverse in the way it offers the Sacramental Baptism; Candidates or
their parents have the choice of sprinkling, pouring, or immersion, and pastors and congregations
should be prepared to honor the requests for baptism in any of these modes (Committee 1992, p. 81).
It is important for individuals to understand the meaning of each mode. Immersion symbolizes the
burial and resurrection with Christ, and being born of a new water and the spirit. Pouring or sprinkling
water on the head signifies pouring out of the Holy Spirit. Pastors should be able to share each mode
with the candidates. The United Methodist

Analysis Of The Movie Costumed Heroes And The Night...
Watchmen takes place in an alternate America of 1985, and thanks to the Keene Act of 1977 costumed
heroes are no longer allowed to save the lives of distressed civilians, help those in need...etc. Well they
re at least not allowed to do it in costumes under the name of The Night Owl , Ozymandias , Hooded
Justice , The Comedian , and the first character introduced Rorschach. Rorschach is the only one left
of the masked vigilantes(illegally or not employed by the government) , and compared to the other
characters in the story is very complex, and very different from everyone else. Rorschach wasn t
always Rorschach he was born Walter Joseph Kovacs. Rorschach didn t have an easy life growing up,
his mother was prostitute, and didn t even know who his father was. His mother was abusive, he was
raised in poverty, and as a child he got into an extremely violent fight with two bullies in school.
When the situation and his home life were investigated he was taken into a shelter or Home for
Problem Children . He had a couple of hobbies as a child that got him into the physical state he is now,
and eventually started working at a dress shop. Rorschach then made a mask out of a dress that was
rejected by its owner. Rorschach was reading a news article two years later about the rape and murder
of a young girl, and he wanted to do something about it. Rorschach then began fighting crime under
the mask vigilante named Rorschach . Rorschach believes that people are either good, or

The Argument Of Mats, By Managing Culture
INTRODUCTION
This paper seeks to support the argument of Mats Alvesson that by managing culture, it is possible to
facilitate positive outcomes beneficial to stakeholders in an organization. It also suggests that
employers and employees can have mutually beneficial relationship and achieve organizational
performance. To analyse and evaluate the argument, it is important to define and understand the
concept of culture and control .
2.0 DEFINITION OF CULTURE
According to Schien (2010), culture is how we are supposed to feel and act in a given society or
organization which has been taught by various social experiences as a way to maintain social order.
Schuller et al (2012) also defined culture as the way of behaving and believing that a ... Show more

Control is an important function that managers must perform to ensure things are moving in the right
direction and to keep errors at the barest minimum. Control ensures effectiveness and efficiency in an
organization.
FORMS OF CONTROL
There are various forms of control which include;
Behavioural Control
This is a form of control where managers closely monitor what employees do and have penalties for
disobedience. For Example, where employees have to clock in and out in an organisation or have a
dress code at work.
Cultural Control
Here, employees have a personal relationship with the organisation and support the organisations
goals and objectives. Oftentimes, employees are unaware that management influences the way they
behave. For example, spme organisations provide all facilities like the gym, nursery, cafes in one
building to always employees at work
Social Control
THEORIES OF EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS
It is indeed possible to achieve organizational outcomes beneficial to employees and shareholders. To
determine this, it is pertinent to discuss the forms of employment relations. Firstly;
Unitarist Theory
This theory assumes that the management of an organization has the right and authority to lead and,
any form of opposition to this is regarded as irrational and

Skills For Visual And Written Analysis
Skills for visual and written analysis have emerged to be a central debate in different art societies.
Writing about art has materialized to become a variable way to practice cultural, social, economic and
political aspects. Precisely, a personal response to an art piece increases the understanding of the piece
of art. As such, the role of individuals such as curators has become essential in improving the
understanding of art. Evidence has proved that visual art has far reaching impact in reading, writing,
geometry and science. Visual art creates an innate mental ability that envisions forms and observe
closely different skills. Precisely, visual art is seen as a cultural vehicle that helps culture to share
ideas. The incoming report investigates the works of Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres 29 August 1780
14 January 1867, who was NeoClassical painter. Ingres images perpetuate an alluring and rather
misleading image of the orient. The report will compare a variety of images to provide a more truthful
understanding of the Near East culture.
Background
Orientalism is notable given that it improved the 19th century architecture and decorative art that had
a significant influence on the nature of painting, and graphic arts with photography. The research will
examine Ingres works by drawing an open ended approach to art. Critical emphasis will prove that the
works established a new kind of totality, and a variation that embraced everything from a crude
preliminary sketch to the

The Role Of The Drug War In Mexico
The amount of drugs in mexico is a crazy. The number of drugs they have been bringing into america
is also hardcore. Tens of thousands of people die every year due to this business. On September 27,
2011 ,Five severed heads are found in a sack near an elementary school in Acapulco which is really
jacked up. Just imagine a little mexican kid walking down the street eating a taco and seeing five
heads just in a sack by his school. Today, Mexico is a major supplier of heroin to the U.S. market, and
the largest foreign supplier of methamphetamine and marijuana. Mexican production of all three of
these drugs has increased since 2005. Which is not a good thing.
The drug war has been going on forever. During the 1970s and early 1980s, Colombia s Pablo

Reality Was Whispering At Me
Reality was whispering to me. My vision blurred, and it wasn t from tears. My sensations stopped
working as the hospital hallways grew dark. I grew mad at myself, wondering why I wasn t crying like
my family. Darkness started to consume me, and the whispers in my head told me what I needed to be
answered. I didn t want answers. I screamed in my head that I m too young to learn now. My
ignorance drifted away, leaving me alone with reality welcoming itself into my head. This was the day
that I was forced to realize what I never thought could of happened. Hmm... no answer, I mumbled as
I sullenly placed the house phone down. It was a Saturday, and it was my mom s turn to take care of
my nine year old brother and ten year old me for the weekend. My parents lived separately, and we
had to live with my mom most of the time. Even so, I tried to contact my dad as often as I could. He
was the parent whom I had a stronger connection with. He always did his best to express his care and
love toward my brother and me. However, my dad didn t answer me this time. I sat on the couch and
waited in case he would return my call. I glanced around our dull, brown living room waiting,
swinging my feet back and forth. Just waiting. Kimi! Jason! We need to go now! screamed my mom
as she charged through the front door, startling me. I sprang up to retrieve my shoes and my brother
and flew out the door. We exchanged confused glances once we jumped in

Benefits Of Artificial Intelligence
Beneficial AI Many wonder if Artificial Intelligence (AI) could be beneficial to humanity. AI has been
around for only a few years. Voice Assistants such as Bixby and Siri help people maneuver through
screen selection, apps and much more on their cell phones easier and faster. AI is slowly getting better,
with things such as self driving cars and robotic relations. There are two types of AI, weak AI and
strong AI. Weak AI are things we have today such as those listed above (Siri and Bixby), and the
strong AI are what researchers are currently working towards. There are many ways that AI could be
useful in our lives, it can help us to move forward in technology that we have yet to make many
advances in, it can also make everyday complications and annoyances much easier for humans. With
the help of AI, technology will be better and faster than ever because AI will not make repeated
mistakes like people would. First, AI are created to learn as they go. AI are able to make fast advances
by being given set goals. In the article, Benefits and Risks of AI, the author wrote, Machines can
obviously have goals in the narrow sense of exhibiting goal oriented behavior: the behavior of a heat
seeking missile is most economically explained as a goal to hit a target (Tegmark). Researchers are
able to set a goal for the AI to reach so it will not get off task, which will make the research process
faster without common distractions. This allows the AI to work through problems

Non Aristotelian Drama Essay
The twenty first century is developing into a time of technological developments and the beginning of
the Modern Era. The early Modern Era was known as a time of exploration and globalization.
Globalization is the interconnection of countries; there is an active exchange of commodities, ideas,
and philosophical thoughts. With the development in technology such as cell phones, airplanes,
Internet, and social media; it has made the growth of transportation and communication networks
possible and much more advanced. In other words, people and countries can exchange information,
ideas, and goods more quickly and efficiently. The worldwide spread of technology creates vast
connections that create new opportunities on a larger scale. One philosophical movement that spread
quickly was Modernism. Modernism is a philosophical movement in the arts. The modernists rejected
traditional notions of plot and time. In contrast, they would show a rational, cause effect relationship
between events and the character s development. In this essay I will be demonstrating one of Berolt
Brecht non Aristotelian drama , a dramatic form intended to be staged with the methods of epic
theatre.
Berolt Brecht was one of most prominent modernists during this era. He proposed the idea of the Epic
Theater. In 1924, after moving to Berlin, Brecht started to work with Erwin Piscator. Piscator was
known for practicing forms of political and social epic theater. After working with Piscator for some
time,

The Victory With No Name Essay
The defeat of the first United States army by a coalition of Native Americans is the focus in Collin
Calloway s The Victory with No Name. In this historical account, Calloway addresses what occurred
on November 4th, 1791, when an Indian army consisting of a variety of Indian tribes, led by Little
Turtle and Blue Jacket, ambushed the first American army near the Wabash River to protect
themselves from American expansion of the Northwest Territory. The American army, led by
Revolutionary War veteran Arthur St. Clair, was ill equipped with men, horses, and weaponry, and
ignorant about Indian whereabouts and tactics. Calloway organizes his argument by describing
America s desire for land, the invasion and settlement of Indian land, and the resistance formed by
Native Americans. Calloway continues by illustrating the defeat of the American army and the
aftermath of the battle between Native Americans and the U.S. By drawing on extensive historical
evidence that illustrated the events before, during, and after the battle, Calloway presents a detailed
historical narrative that challenges the idea that winners write the history...even when they lose and
offers a narrative that shows both the Native American and the U.S. perspective, ultimately giving
credit to the Indians for their victory. However, Calloway provides information that is irrelevant to his
argument and the book, which makes it difficult to follow along throughout the story. The United
States attempted to establish

Different Types And Patterns Of The World
It is early in the morning, and women in Hindu families all over the world are preparing to begin their
day. As the women in these families, they have many duties and rituals that they perform daily for
them and their families. After washing up, they clean the house and make sure that everything is
properly decorated. Next, they prepare the place that they are going to perform a ritual where they
make something called a Kolam.
Kolams are made in many different places, there are different types and patterns, and there are many
reasons that Kolams are said to be made. First, I want to look at what they actually are: A kolam is a
drawing that is typically done at the entrance of a house and is created from rice flour. Kolams are not
only made for the entrance of a house however. Kolams are also made for things other than every day
activities such as weddings and in front of temples, which are considered sacred kolams that are not to
be touched. Kolams are drawn for festivals and many other special events. Although there are several
traditional patterns, kolams do not always have a pattern and the creativity of the drawing is left up to
whomever is drawing it. Kolam is practiced only by women and is taught to the younger girls in the
family by the mothers. They are very intricate drawings and there are certain ways in which the
women go about drawing them.
The place that the women prepare for the kolam is cleaned and then dampened with water in hopes
that the dried flour

Comparison Of Five Battle Rifles
There are numerous battle rifles in production today, with some performing better than others. The
M16, or AR 15, which has been the first line service rifle for the US Military for almost five decades
(Poyer, 2013, p. 1), and the AK 47, which has been in production for more than sixty years, stand out
as the most popular, most produced, and the most highly regarded rifles in our modern time. Both
rifles are similar in many ways and are excellent firearms for sport, self defense, and modern warfare.
Both have been battle tested in just about every conflict over the course of the last fifty years, are
currently used as the main battle rifles for a large part of the world, have at least thirty round magazine
capacity, are similar in size and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The AR 15 s operation is based on the direct impingement (DI) gas system. When a round is fired in
the DI gas system, gas from the expended round is tapped from the barrel and transferred back to the
firearms operating system via a gas tube. The gas unlocks the bolt and cycles the action to load the
next round. This process, over time, produces a buildup of residue on the rifles action which can
negatively impact its reliability if not properly maintained. In addition, under sustained fire, the gas
tube can fail if not properly maintained. The AK 47 s operation is based on a gas piston operating
system. Like in the AR 15, when a round is fired, gas from the expended round is tapped from the
barrel, but instead of being directed back to the operating system it is used to cycle a piston system. In
this process, the gas is trapped in a piston cup, away from the action, which forces the piston rod to
impact the operating system, which in turn cycles the action and loads the next round. With the gas
piston system there is much less residue buildup in the rifles action and no gas tube to fail. This gives
the AK 47 superior reliability and the ability to operate even without proper maintenance over
extended periods of

Relationships are an important part of human existence. To survive, we must build these connections.
They consume every facet of our lives. We encounter many different relationships in our lifetime. We
are a sibling, friend, parent, child, co worker, spouse, lover and many more. It is a part of who we are
and how we relate to the world around us. It is how we develop and nurture these relationships that
make the difference in our lives. Relationships are complicated, but can be rewarding when all parties
are seeking the same goal. We learn to balance our interactions and seek to find a way of fitting them
into our everyday lives. The best relationships are ones that are built on mutual trust, understanding,
and respect for each other. When they don t work out, we may feel a sense of failure or sadness. They
are often hard to let go of, even if they are dysfunctional and unhealthy for us and the people we are
surrounded by. In Learning to Fall , there are multiple relationships being described. Ruth is a single
mother who is doing her best to raise her young son Andrew and keep a positive outlook on life. The
relationship she has with her son is nurturing and loving. Andrew is striving to become independent
and resents his mother being too mushy, especially in front of other people. What makes this a bit
more complicated and special, is the fact that Andrew was born with disabilities. Ruth also has a

  • 2. The House Of Mirth By Edith Wharton Essay The House of Mirth, written by Edith Wharton, depicts the social system and how it functioned during the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. Through looking at the social rise and fall of Lily Bart, the protagonist, one can see how education, gender, and social status determine value and success. By the evident contrast between upper class and lower class values in the novel, the theme of performance is illuminated. Each character in the novel is performing Lily, especially and does so as a way of socially furthering themselves. This is due to the fact that in the novel, social status determines value; value increases as social status increases. This idea of performance correlating with social status and personal value aligns with Louis Althusser s thesis regarding ideology: ideology is determined before birth and is performed. Ideology forms as soon as one is addressed and responds; Lily responds yes to each person who addresses her, but each address puts her in a different performance, causing her to be a reciprocal of these ideologies. Lily faces an internal conflict of which ideology she belongs to: was she pre determined with an upper class ideology, or lower class ideology? Is she the person who is addressed by Percy Gryce, or Nettie Struther? This ideological struggle is conveyed most clearly when she interacts with Lawrence Selden, who challenges her values and beliefs. Two versions of Lily exist within the novel that perform and speak to each ideology. In Ideology ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cosmetic Surgery is a Worldwide Epidemic Essay Everywhere you look; from billboards to TV the effects of plastic surgery have left its mark. In fact, a couple of weeks ago, a famous music icon passed, and for a whole week all the media did was talk about the plastic surgery done to his face. These days people are having rhinoplasty, liposuction, tummy tucks, face lifts, and most commonly breast augmentation. Science is making it easier to change the appearance of ones self. This brings me to believe, cosmetic surgery is an epidemic that has affected the whole world. A while back on a popular morning show, the host was interviewing a guest star. Then the host brings up that the guest star has had a breast augmentation. Then the guest star looks at him, and says, Everybody s doing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adults with big money have been the ones affected the most with these celebrity trends. However, teenager girls have been affected more than they should. Instead of a parent telling the teenager they look beautiful, no matter how many minor imperfections they have. Most parents are shockingly giving their teenagers liposuction as birthday presents. Instead of loosing weight in a healthy way with diet and exercise, these teens are going under anesthesia. Most teenagers after the surgery have scars left on their body, which never heal. In today s world, many people are confused about their gender. This has led numerous people to plastic surgery. A countless number of them feel the only way to truly be themselves is through getting a sex transformation. Even though many of them get the surgery on the down low, the effects from the surgery eventually come to light. On the Jerry Springer show, a number of episodes involved the audience guessing what the gender of the person was before they underwent surgery. It s sad to say, that the majority of the women on the show were originally men. The expenses of buying a whole new lifestyle, the emotional drainage they are likely to face, and the periods of physical pain in hormonal change all are factors they deal with after plastic surgery. Whether broadcasted through media or magazines plastic surgery interest everyone, I truly believe Hollywood is addicted to it. I believe that the media projects images ... • 4. Freedom From Fear Book Report David Kennedy s book Freedom from Fear: The American People in Depression and War 1929 1945 shines light on the financial impacts that hit the country during the Great Depression and World War 2. This book shares how some people assumed that Franklyn D Roosevelt was a successor in getting things moving to a better economy but if it wasn t for Hoover things may have been worse, or that s what I took from it. Kennedy starts off the book with talking about the end of World War 1 and how the Great Depression started with the treaty of Versailles because it had led men of World War 2 to believe that they could be better leaders of their country. A prime example would be Hitler who believed that Jewish people were the reason Germany failed and this led to him rising to power. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People had no care for saving or cautious behavior with money. But when the stock market crashed consumers and businesses had little trust. Although the stock market crash has not been directly connected with the start of the Great Depression it did scare so many people that they ran to banks to withdraw what money they had left only to have banks soon fail. Banks had a major crisis at hand because they money they loaned out went into buying stocks. This crash had caused the banks to fail when people couldn t keep up with their payments. Hoover had tried to help cushion the blow. He had tried to get business leaders to hold wages at a certain prices. He had also got the Federal Reserve involved by making open market purchases. He even tried to help those who were unemployed by stimulating construction work. This was the best he could do with the help he had. But obviously business leaders were more concerned with profit than wages because they were quick to cut wages down. Unemployment were reaching levels that were hard to match with work that the president was creating out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We arrived in the orbit of Betelgeuse in means to finish our studies on the couple dozen asteroids floating around and be on our way home empty handed, but we were so wrong. When we set the coordinates to a specific asteroid that was quite larger than the others it seemed like the same old coordination skills and math. I ordered a nearby sergeant to give a set of coordinates and how many light years it will be to consider the amount of fuel we should consume. It came back to 389.96 light years away from our stationed headquarters. It looked very dim from the point of view I was at, and I knew it was a very large star compared to the other stars I ve seen. • 7. Sample Literature Review On Antisocial Personality Disorder In the article The antisocial person: an insight into biology, classification and current evidence on treatment authors Rodrigo, Rajapakse, and Jayananda (2010) explored PubMed looking for published English articles between 1999 to 2009 with the search words, antisocial personality disorder, dissocial personality disorder, and psychopathy. The purpose of the literature search was to look for advances in understanding the neurobiology of violence and empathy, effective treatment modalities, and ethical implications in defining at risk individuals for preventive interventions. Data sources for this review included clinical journals, cohort studies, interventional studies, case control studies, cross sectional analysis and epidemiological studies. The search revealed a number of interesting findings, such as the different terminology used, treatment related issues, and the importance of early identification and prevention of antisocial behavior. Empathy was also a targeted area. All the orders were obeyed as quickly as possible, and the whole of the officers, engi neers, sailors, and firemen behaved admirably in carrying out my in structions, and no one left his station until he was directed to do so. Before leaving the engine room the engineer eased the safety valves and closed the tunnel doors, and to this cause I attribute the fact that the ship was so long going down. We were all in the boats and clear of the doomed ship at a quarter to 9 o clock and exactly 20 minutes after we struck. Neither myself nor anyone else saved any of our ef fects. I also lost all of the books, papers, certificates, and everything belonging to me. I did not consider it safe to go back on board. The early Modern Era was known as a time of exploration and globalization. Globalization is the interconnection of countries; there is an active exchange of commodities, ideas, and philosophical thoughts. With the development in technology such as cell phones, airplanes, Internet, and social media; it has made the growth of transportation and communication networks possible and much more advanced. In contrast, they would show a rational, cause effect relationship between events and the character s development. In this essay I will be demonstrating one of Berolt Brecht non Aristotelian drama , a dramatic form intended to be staged with the methods of epic theatre. Piscator was known for practicing forms of political and social epic theater. After working with Piscator for some time, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Victory With No Name Essay The defeat of the first United States army by a coalition of Native Americans is the focus in Collin Calloway s The Victory with No Name. In this historical account, Calloway addresses what occurred on November 4th, 1791, when an Indian army consisting of a variety of Indian tribes, led by Little Turtle and Blue Jacket, ambushed the first American army near the Wabash River to protect themselves from American expansion of the Northwest Territory. The American army, led by Revolutionary War veteran Arthur St. Clair, was ill equipped with men, horses, and weaponry, and ignorant about Indian whereabouts and tactics. Calloway organizes his argument by describing America s desire for land, the invasion and settlement of Indian land, and the resistance formed by Native Americans. Calloway continues by illustrating the defeat of the American army and the aftermath of the battle between Native Americans and the U.S. By drawing on extensive historical evidence that illustrated the events before, during, and after the battle, Calloway presents a detailed historical narrative that challenges the idea that winners write the history...even when they lose and offers a narrative that shows both the Native American and the U.S. perspective, ultimately giving credit to the Indians for their victory. However, Calloway provides information that is irrelevant to his argument and the book, which makes it difficult to follow along throughout the story. The United States attempted to establish ... First, I want to look at what they actually are: A kolam is a drawing that is typically done at the entrance of a house and is created from rice flour. Kolams are not only made for the entrance of a house however. Kolams are also made for things other than every day activities such as weddings and in front of temples, which are considered sacred kolams that are not to be touched. Kolams are drawn for festivals and many other special events. Although there are several traditional patterns, kolams do not always have a pattern and the creativity of the drawing is left up to whomever is drawing it. Kolam is practiced only by women and is taught to the younger girls in the family by the mothers. They are very intricate drawings and there are certain ways in which the women go about drawing them. Both rifles are similar in many ways and are excellent firearms for sport, self defense, and modern warfare. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The AR 15 s operation is based on the direct impingement (DI) gas system. When a round is fired in the DI gas system, gas from the expended round is tapped from the barrel and transferred back to the firearms operating system via a gas tube. The gas unlocks the bolt and cycles the action to load the next round. This process, over time, produces a buildup of residue on the rifles action which can negatively impact its reliability if not properly maintained. In addition, under sustained fire, the gas tube can fail if not properly maintained. The AK 47 s operation is based on a gas piston operating system. Like in the AR 15, when a round is fired, gas from the expended round is tapped from the barrel, but instead of being directed back to the operating system it is used to cycle a piston system. In this process, the gas is trapped in a piston cup, away from the action, which forces the piston rod to impact the operating system, which in turn cycles the action and loads the next round. With the gas piston system there is much less residue buildup in the rifles action and no gas tube to fail. This gives the AK 47 superior reliability and the ability to operate even without proper maintenance over extended periods of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
